  • Japanese Input on a Blackberry in Germany

We got a 8707v working with Romaji input in the UK.  But the same package did not work in Germany or France on devices there.
We are with Vodafone.  We deleted the vendor.xml  before install but still not able to get this working.   Chinese and Korean work fine.
What is it in the Device.xml or CJK.alx files or elsewhere that might make this firmware UK specific or prevent the Romaji methiod from working? All the .cod files referenced in the Romaji method section of the CJK.alx have loaded on the device and I gave them all full permissions.  I choose Japanese input on the device but it does not work.

I have tried firmware from all over the latest was: Software For BlackBerry 8707v (TM) BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.342 (Chinese)

    Hi,
We use at our firm 8707V and I downloaded the same firmware for Japanese Character Support.
We also have offices across in European town such as Frankfurt and Paris.
We did try number of devices to achive the Japanese Character Support, however none from European 8707 devices works.
What we found is that 8707 model with only QWERTY model works with the firmware but not with any other K/B such one you can obtain in German and France.

  • Using Blackberry in Germany

I am interested in buying a blackberry, because I am going to study in Germany for a year. I am going to get a German pay as you go sim card, but I would like to be able to use the free email and chat options to stay in touch with my friends and family. Is this possible on pay as you go - such as paying a monthly fee? Or do you need to have a contract in order to enjoy these options?
    Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
With hundreds of carriers in the world with dozens of plans each, it's impossible to say for sure. Here is generic information, though:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
I suggest you review exactly the services you desire and then research the German carriers to see if they have a plan that will provide you with exactly those services or if compromises need to be made. They (the carrier) control 100% of the services you can have on your BB.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Tour Browser International Germany

    Hey there
I bought a BB Tour from the US and I live in Germany. I am able to make phonecalls and write text messages. But the internet broweser doesn't work.
I read a lot of forums -> bought a MSL code and now I can make changes on the "CDMA Service Edit Screen".
But the point is: WHAT do I have to change?
Mobile Directory Number: I guess I have to put in my number
    IMSI_S: ?
    pESN (Dec): ?
    pESN (Hex): ?
    Mobile Country Code: ?
    Mobile Network Code?
    Home SID:?
    Home NID:?
I have absolutely no idea what to so... It's really just the internet browser which doesn't work.
Guess it doesn't work because of the different country settings...But what do I have to do? ((
Would be wonderful if anyone could help me to resolve that big problem.
I thought I can use Blackberry phones worldwide...
    Regards!
    Lara

I have the same problem! I bought my blackberry curve 9300 in south africa and I can't use any of the blackberry futers like bbm/appworld/internet browser etc, please help

Losing the 2 pieces I had, now I found myself lost in Germany, where is no chance to by those things?
If anybody could give me a hint, it would be very nice.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my pour English.
    Kind Regards.

This was discussed just this week among some of us, not knowing where replacement parts such as the stabilization loop and earbuds could be found.
I have not seen a place that sells only those replacement parts.

  • Loading BBM chat time in Germany

Hi, I am from South Africa and used Vodacom. We moved to Germany and I would like to know how do I go about getting bbm in Germany. I will get a new sim card, O2 or Vodaphone. I asked at Media Markt but they were not very helpful. My BBM is still active till the end of August. Please help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
There's nothing to add to your BB per se. Using the BB-specific services is a matter of your carrier providing those to you. And there are some things that must happen for them to do so.
Any BB can be used on any carrier that runs the same radio frequencies that the BB is capable of (and I've no idea if your's are such). But, to bring a BB onto a carrier network that they did not sell to you, there are several hurdles to cross:
    1) The carrier must say "yes" to the fact...they own their network and have every right to say what devices will be allowed to connect to it. If they say "no", then that's the end of it.
    2) You must be sure that your BB is properly unlocked from it's originally manufactured-for carrier...see this helpful thread for details:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Unlocking-your-BlackBerry-Gu...
    3) You must get all of your voice level services functioning on the carrier, before you even try anything about data
    4) You must subscribe, from the carrier, to an adequate data plan to enable the BB-proprietary services you desire
5a) If the carrier directly supports your specific model BB, then you can proceed with registering the BB onto their network, generating the proper Service Book delivery to your BB, and proceeding to function.
5b) But, if the carrier does not directly support your specific model number of BB, then the challenges are much greater as most carrier systems will not deliver, to the BB, the necessary service books to enable the BB-proprietary data services, even if you do subscribe to them.
So, depending on all of that, your BB may or may not ever fully function on that carrier network. It can be quite tricky to accomplish, especially if 5b applies. So take a look at all of that and decide how you wish to proceed. Most folks wind up just buying a new BB if 5b applies.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Curve 8320 able to work in China?

    Hi everyone,
I am totally new to the Blackberry world and have no idea if this question is ridiculously stupid, stupid, moderately intelligent or ground-breaking (I doubt the latter).  Anyway, I was wondering if it were possible for a Blackberry Curve 8320 to actually work in China?  I plan to buy one from the US and use it in China and also later in Aus.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Benjamin

If you're using the GSM version of the blackberry you will be able to use it overseas. However, you will incur roaming charges and per message charges if I'm not mistaken. I have a supplier from Germany that travels to China and most of SE Asia a lot and he has no problems roaming. So long as the country you are going to has blackberry service (China does and so does Australia) you will be able to roam there. If you want to take advantage of cheaper local call rates, then you will need to unlock your phone so that you can insert a local SIM. Other thing to note is that some countries, I know here in Indonesia they do, have pre-paid blackberry service. I just don't know if that will work even with an unlocked phone because your PIN will still be locked to your service provider. Does anyone if the PIN can be easily transferred from one provider to another?

  • Difference between Bluetooth Module from Blackberry Q10 to Blackberry Q5?

    Hello,
I am from Germany so please excuse if my English knowledge is not so good.
I own a Bose Wave Music System III. Last week I bought a original Bluetooth Adapter for that System.
After the Adapter arrived I connected it without any problem with my Blackberry Q10.
My Girlfriend is using a Blackberry Q5.
So I tried to connect the Q5 with the Bose Bluetooth Adapter as well.
But the Q5 is not able to connect correctly.
There is the same problem with the Q5 and my Toshiba Portege R930.
Both decives only see the Bose Bluetooth Adapter as a Nokia mobile phone device (all other Bluetooth devices are off, me and my neighbours don't use any Nokia mobile phone ).
If I try to connect to this device, Bose and Q5/R930 can not connect.
I also bought a new Bluetooth Stack Stick 4.0 from LogiLink, this Stick doesn't even recognize the Bose Bluetooth Adapter
So my question is if there is a difference between the bluetooth module Q10 and Q5?
If I read the technical data sheets there is always just written Bluetooth 4.0, but there must be a difference after my opinion.
    Thank You for your help
    Regards
    Manuel

  • No service in Germany, Italy

Why would anyone sell a phone to someone traveling to a country that doesn't support the signal??? CDMA as compared to GSM. My hat is off to the Boca Rotan store for selling my son a phone that gets no service overseas! WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE??? Call the store for help at 561 482  2258 if you want wrong advice. The" i phone" needs to fix this problem . Do not buy that phone if traveling over seas. Does anyone have a solution to the i phone?

The problem has nothing to do with the iPhone, and it is not Apple's fault whatsoever, Apple never designed or marketed the iPhone to be a global smartphone
Using CDMA was never Apple's decision, and as a matter of fact, the Verizon iPhone 4 is the ONLY iPhone to have a CDMA version, Apple decided to make an iPhone that was designed to operate on Verizon's network, Verizon's network is 100% CDMA (Verizon doesn't support GSM)
That said, Apple doesn't need to "fix" anything, it was your fault for choosing Verizon in the first place without asking first if their network or products work overseas, Verizon does offer global smartphones that have both CDMA and GSM radios in them (The BlackBerry Storm 1 phone in my signature was a global smartphone, and had both CDMA and GSM radios), and even come with a Verizon/Vodafone SIM card made to work with the Vodafone network overseas, the iPhone doesn't have global support, and therefore the CDMA iPhone does not support GSM networks, period
This advice may be late, but you have 2 options
    1. Purchase an UNLOCKED GSM (AT&T) iPhone (3G, 3GS, or 4), take the GSM iPhone along with the CDMA iPhone into Verizon and request to have a Vodafone SIM card put onto the account, using your son's number, when in the US, Canada or other country with CDMA network support, use the CDMA iPhone, when in the UK, Germany, Italy or other country that doesn't support CDMA, shut off the CDMA iPhone 4 and turn on the GSM iPhone 4 with Vodafone SIM card, unless I am mistaken, it should automatically connect to the Vodafone network using your son's Verizon number
    2. Switch to AT&T and get the iPhone from there, AT&T's iPhones are GSM as AT&T is a GSM network, AT&T's network on the other hand will work overseas, but be aware you will incur roaming charges when your son uses the phone in a different country

  • Germany

    Hello
I moved to germany and i took my blackberry tour with me because i wanted to use it here. Before i left i called verizon and had them unlock it.
My provider (O2) here in germany is telling me that my blackberry is locked only for O2 service or for the european market. so far everything works but nothing that has to do with internet or a connection to the blackberry server.
A friend tried his sim card from a different provider and everything worked. so it is working in europe but not with the provider i have (O2 Germany). i have a contract thats why i can change the provider.
So my question is why is it that my internet wont work with O2 in germany?
can somebody please help me or tell me what to do? please????

Your friend's SIM card works because his card is provisioned with a BlackBerry data plan from his carrier.  Yours does not work because you don't have a proper BlackBerry data plan on your SIM card.  I know this for a fact because everything that is not working for you requires the proper data plan from your carrier.
Call them and have them set you up with an adequate plan for BlackBerry phones.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Blackberry News App running "wild"

    Howdy fellas!
the "Blackberry News App for Blackberry Playbook" ran on my 2nd PB64GB just fine. Some feeds were added w/URLs from the web and worked just fine.
Since abaout a week the sync didn't finish. Tried removing and reinstall but it's not working anymore - stalls @ 50% "updating feeds".
Q.1: Known issues w/ 1.2.0.5? I have another 1.2.0.16 on another PB and it seems to work
Q.2: Any place on the PB to remove settngs or the like of that app?
Q.3: How to get 1.2.0.16 on the failing unit?
    Greetings from Germany

    Hello hbilke,

    Hi germanfreddy,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
Since you have verified that your credit card details were entered correctly,  are you able to change the payment method to PayPal to try and complete the purchase? The following KB article provides steps to change this information. "How to change the payment method in BlackBerry App World for either the BlackBerry PlayBook or BlackBerry smartphone to change your payment method." http://bbry.lv/JNqmwi

  • The german "Kalenderwoche" is ignored by Blackberry

Hello everybody. sorry for my bad englisch since the os 6.0 is shiped there is no number of week in the calender. now os 7 is out now and the KW isn't set. For most people in germany the "KW" is the most important feature in bb calender. sorry, but when bb is not able to put this really small number into the calender, my next mobile can't be a bb. And i think lots of bb customers from germany will do the same. tollechtwahr
