Blackberry in Nigeria

Hello Guys
I need some clarity on how the blackberry pin wirks. Does every blackberry in the world have a unique pin or is it just in that country. Amonth ago my boyfriend lost his blackberry in a taxi (CApe Twon-South Africa). We blacklisted the phone and locked it and also sent messages to it.
We logged to blackberry protect to try lock the devive and locate it but it was not possible because the device had to be connected to a network before it can be located. However today I sent an invite to my boyfriends oin and the person accepted my invite all the way from Nigeria. I would like to know how is this possible because if bbm works that means this person has BIS and clearly the phone was not blacklisted the most disturbing thing is on blackberry protects its still under his name and it does not say it is connected.
The blackberry tracking system/ blackberry protect need to be upodated we pay so much for these phones.

The 9670 Style will not work outside of the United States. It is a Sprint CDMA phone only.
Sorry.

    Blackberry world problem

Hi and Welcome to the Community! With that limited information, it's hard to know how to help you. So, start here:Article ID: KB17745 Downloading and purchasing applications using BlackBerry App WorldThere are multiple payment methods available (e.g., PayPal, carrier billing, credit card), but if you have none, then you have no way to pay for your purchase. You must have a payment method that BBWorld accepts, simple as that. Good luck!

  • My blackberry is not working with my service provider

my O2 blackberry stop working with all Nigeria service provider, what could be the root cause of this

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

  • Errror message in Nigeria

I got an unlocked z10 im nigeria but Im having problems with the de setup. At de warranty stage I get a &quot; No network connection change your settings&quot; message. I have an active wi-fi connection which the device recognizes. But the warranty doesn't load up so the &quot;agree and do not agree&quot; options are greyed out.<br>What do I need to do?

    Hey Makoiche,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Is your SIM card currently in the BlackBerry Z10 when going through the setup?  Even when you're connected to the Wi-Fi network, it does not load up the warranty information or countries?
If the issue does persist, I suggest contacting your network service provider and ask to be transferred to BlackBerry so we can gather some logs on this issue.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • IP related to Nigeria?

    Hi,
in February 2014 I noticed in the recent account activities details of my gmail account that my email account was obviously accessed via moble device from IPs related to Nigeria (93.186.31.82 ; 93.186.23.81; 93.186.23.82 and 93.186.31.99). After a first shock I did some research on the website http://ip-lookup.net/index.php and found out that every sinle IP mentioned above are related to RIM servers located in the UK.
I changed my account's password and logged into gmail from my blackberry curve 9300 and then again checked the recent acount access activities on gmail-site. I had to notice that the apparent access from Nigeria was in fact myself accessing my gmail account from my blackberry though I was in... Germany (but it showed it as Nigeria).
I then changed my Curve 9300 device for a Q5 and since then the IPs shown in recent activities (gmail) are always from Deutsche Telekom (my mobile provider). Thats hw it should be and is quite reassuring.
    So my questions are:
    1) Is the connection via RIM Servers only used for specific blackberry models (i.e. Curve) and not for more recent models like the Q5? and if so, why is that? different browsers? OS?
    2) Why is Gmail showing the country "Nigeria" for IPs of RIM located in UK?
    3) RIM, can you confirm that the IP adresses mentioned above are all owned and run by RIM and not by some Nigerian scamers/hackers?
    thank you.

What you refer to, for the legacy device, is BIS -- BlackBerry Internet Service. This is infrastructure, hosted by the carriers and BB, which enables the BB proprietary services (email, browser, etc.) on legacy devices. BIS is not used on BB10, only on legacy devices.
    bb2014 wrote:

Being the Internet, anything can be hosted anywhere. It is entirely possible that BIS services can shift from location to location as needs arise (e,g., server failures, server overloads, etc.). Unfortunately, here in this user-to-user community, there is no way for anyone here to know for sure...all we can do is theorize.

Being a user-to-user community, this question cannot be answered here. If you desire formal support on the issue, you will need to use your formal support channel -- which starts with your mobile service provider.

  • TORCH 9860 FAILED TO CONNECT TO ALL NIGERIA BIS NETWORK AFTER OS UPGRADE

Hello all...............This is a problem which many people are facing in Nigeria and which could negatively affect the fortune of RIM in the country if care is not taken. I did an OS update on desktop manager and since then, i couldnt connect to BIS on any network in Nigeria even though i restore my backup files. The phone works quite well, i could make calls and the network is always 3G but no BIS. I went to the host routing table, and register over and over again to no avail. I took the phone to MTN Nigeria and they couldnt find solution. I downgraded the OS, upgraded it, no BIS. I use BBSAK to wipe the phone and reinstall, no result. The phone is not locked but was bought brand new from a retailing shop called Revive at Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria and they refused to take it back because my warranty of one month has expired (this speaks volume on the type of Blackberry Vendors in Nigeria). I thought if i could get a particular restore called BBservices which was greyed out in my backup maybe i could connect again. This may not be the problem, it may be another and that is why am here begging .......pls help.

    man4war wrote:
Please if you know of any tricks to get the BIS working, kindly inform me as am beginning to get desperate.
As I said, I don't know what tricks may have been done specifically for yours. But the usual tricks are to ensure that the APN/TCP settings are correct for your carrier network, followed by extracting the Service Books from a different BB that is properly functioning on your carriers network and then importing those SBs into your BB. But, again, I have no way to know the proper APN/TCP settings for your carrier, and you'd have to gain access to such another functioning BB in order to obtain their Service Books.
But it would be very strange indeed for this BB to have worked so simply the day you received it...perhaps the shop you bought it from had done the tricks?
    man4war wrote:
I read in several forums that if one is in a fix like this it is most likely that the BB pin and IMEI has been blacklisted by RIM, please is this so?
Again, no one here has any access to anything to answer that question. That again is a question that can only be answered by your carrier and/or BlackBerry. But there is only one channel for you to seek that answer...via your carrier, who can escalate the question up to BlackBerry if they cannot answer it.
    Good luck!

  • Problems with my blackberry internet service

hi, i recently got a pearl 9100, my brother got it for me in canada and sent it down to me.i have not been able to activate my BIS event hough i have taken it to all the people that i thought would be able to fix it.I went to my provider's(zain ng now airtel nigeria) office and apparently everything is registered with them(i got charged for it already) but its just not showing on my phone.i can make calls and do all functions that a regular phone can perform, i just cant activate my blackberry internet services.i dont know what to do anymore, im so crushed.could anybody help me out? Thanks.
ps: the phone isnt locked.i check under advanced options and sim card...everthing there is disabled like its supposed to be.

    Hi megan_fak,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest verifying with the original carrier of the device that it has been unlocked. If it hasn't, you will need to have them unlock it. If it has been unlocked, it may not have full functionality when used on another network, especially if that provider does not sell that model. You will need to verify that they have the necessary service books.

  • MY BLACKBERRY Z10 WAS STOLEN

My Blackberry Z10 was stolen on the 16th of July. It was in a public transport, I tried calling my number when I noticed but the thief didnt pick up. Fortunately, my device was password protected. I decided not to block my sim until 19th of July hoping the thief would have wiped my phone and probably tried dialing one or two number using my sim( i was thinking of using that as a bait to trace the phone). but it didnt work out.
I had my blackberry protect on but my location wasn't enable at the time it was stolen. On the blackberry protect page, the last location update was 11th july. I had tried using various options on the site but it seems the phone is not connected to an internet network.
I tried contacting my service provider (MTN Nigeria) but they have no help to offer.
Please I dont know if there are still possibilities of tracking the phone
Also, I have a feeling if 10 password attempts are made on the device, it will make a factory reset and the phone can be used with new blackberry ID. If so, will that make it inaccessible for my blackberry protect.
Any useful help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The chances of you tracking your phone are about zero. If your phone was protected with a password, the chances of the thief cracking it are also about zero. What will happen is the thief will enter an incorrect password ten times and will then have a completely wiped phone to use. Without location service activated on the Protect website, your phone cannot be tracked by you and despite tracking methods being available to your carrier (cell tower, GPS, etc.), they will not track it.
Just move on and remember to fully activate Protect on your next phone.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Social-Lounge/How-This-Site-and-Formal-Support-Work/td-p/2540...
Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
From what you describe, your BB is unlocked and is compatible with several networks in the UK. But, for some reason, it won't work with this one network. Based on that information, I can only deduce that perhaps the SIM is bad...in which case a replacement might be needed. Or, perhaps your specific BB model is just not compatible with that one network...but you need to talk to them about that:

    Hey Endlesst247,
    Thanks for the question.
Are you trying to connect to BlackBerry World using WiFi or your Mobile Network connection? When you successfully connected previously, were you using WiFi or the Mobile Network? Also, in which country was this device purchased in?
I look forward to your reply.

  • IPhone 3G Availability in Nigeria

Gentlemen, does anyone know when / if Apple plans to make the iPhone 3G officially available in Nigeria? I did not see Nigeria in the list of countries scheduled for availability on July 11, nor did I see it in the list of countries planned for future availability. If anyone at Apple has definitive answer to this, it would be most useful. Speculation discouraged, facts appreciated. Thank you.

The persistent negative attitudes regarding NIgeria and self flagellation by Nigerians is really disheartening. Odds are extremely high that the iPhone 3G is coming to Nigeria as there is a strong business case for Apple to do so and they have already shown a willingness to secure deals with comparatively less attractive markets.
    1. There are 3G networks in Nigeria - MTN, Glo and Zain are all currently offering 3G services, though they may currently be limited to Lagos and other major cities.
    2. Nigeria is the largest mobile phone market in Africa and currently the fastest growing, definitely if they have signed sales agreements for Niger, CAF, not to mention South Africa, Nigeria will definitely be an attractive market (poor perceived reputation or not).
    3. Apple has abandoned the revenue sharing model for the iPhone 3G in the US, and I seriously doubt that they are looking at that as a source of revenue in say, Niger, so buyers should expect to pay full price or be tied to a provider in Nigeria.
    4. The iPhone is currently one of the most popular phones in Lagos business circles, no doubt the carriers see a ready market for the device, similar to the popularity of the blackberry.
As someone said above, Apple will say nothing until a contract has been signed with one of the carriers.

  • Blackberry 8310 not showing reply or send in sms text options menu

I have a blackberry 8310. iam able to recieve sms text messages but when i click to on options, there is no "reply" option in the menu for me to be able to reply to the text. The chip works fine in other phones so that tells me something in the phone is not set right. There is no option for me to even compose and fresh sms text message. Please help?

    Here ya' go:
    1. Get a good backup of your device: BB device backup (I keep all my backups in a separate folder created for that purpose so they are always in one place and easy to find.)
    2. Download the most recent version of device software for your carrier: Downloading BB device software
    3. Reinstall the device software: Clean reload of device software
    4. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart.
    5. Once you have the device OS successfully installed you will then need to reinstall any 3rd party apps you currently have on your device: Install applications using the app loader tool
    6. Complete another battery pull routine after each 3rd party app installation to reclaim memory and refresh your BB.
Let us know how it goes.
