Blackberry KB 20023 + Win7 64 bit

Okay collective geniuses, a question at large:
Blackberry Desktop Software KB20023 (http://bit.ly/occdjx) says don't install Bluetooth updates offered by Win7 Live Update. I'm being offered an "optional update" for "Realtek - Network - Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller 272 KB."
This update says it was *released* in June, 2011 -- the same time that the BB KB20023 was posted -- but that it was *published* on 9/2/2011.
So the question is: is this update the *fix* to the issue reported on KB20023, or is it going to be the *cause* of a problem per KB20023?

Yes, I have contacted Dell Support (they don't support third party software, and they have no previous tickets on this issue), and I am awaiting an email reply from what passes as Realtek tech support.
I am holding off on the update, since Bluetooth works *fine* right now, the device is still paired, and data successfully xfrs via USB.

Vista/Win7 Bit-Matched Playback over SPDIF (and Crystalizer)

I have an SB XFi XtremeMusic and use it for my Microsoft Media Center all the way from XP MCE, Vista and now Windows 7 Ultimate (which by the way is robust, pretty mature with most (not all) issues sorted).
. I want to achei've automatic bitperfect output over SPDIF, the 'Bit-Matched Playback' in Audio Creation Mode option is there in both Vista + Win7. IE When playing music 44.k, TV/Videos 48K without using ASIO or WASAPI as Media Center does not support. However the 'Bit-Matched Playback' option appears to do nothing to the output other than disable the Crystalizer option (which doesn't work anyway over SPDIF), it always remains on the default format selected on the audio endpoint properties. Why is the option presented if it doesn't work? I understand in great detail the big differences in the XP/Vista+Win7 audio architecture and know dynamic sample rate switching worked on XP with some cards.
2. Also on a completely different tact why do none of the enhancements (mainly Crystalizer) not work on SPDIF if default Windows audio endpoint? (I know this is completely contrary to point above/audiophiles).
Really if neither of the above two points can work or be addressed then having an expensi've XFi card for SPDIF output is pointless as give no benefit over onboard SPDIF.

Problem It's the 2.2.0002 drivers. The 2.5.0002 ones are better, but Creative never released an installer for Audigy series.... Problem 2Windows Vista 64bit doesn't support SPDIF pass through. There's a chance it might work with the "dell driver trick" but the driver release notes clearly state it's not supported. Problem 3It's the 2.2.0002 drivers. The 2.5.0002 ones are no better. CMSS 3D effect only at the moment.Hope this helps

C'mon BlackBerry Get a 64-bit version of Media Sync Already!

There's just no other place to post this so here I go. It's 2008, 64-bit versions of Windows have been available since 2001 and BlackBerry Media Sync is only compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows?
C'mon RIM, I know you can do better! The Storm is coming out at the end of the month, but I'm only going to buy it if I can use it with iTunes and for me that means 64-bit capability. Apple iTunes has been 64-bit compatible since the first Windows version, you'd think RIM would have followed suit.
And no I don't want Blackberry Desktop Media Manager, thank you very much.

Vista 64-bit + Bluetooth = No Drivers Found

I just installed Vista 64-bit and pairing my 8900 to my PC to sync via Bluetooth. I'm using a Linksys USBBT100 Bluetooth dongle. Sync'ing is working fine, but after pairing my 8900, Vista keeps prompting me to provide drivers for two Bluetooth devices:

I'm running BlackBerry Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32 [Nov 4 2008].
Previously on XP, the devices were detected and drivers installed, but I don't remember what the devices were. However, I'm thinking that one of these is the modem.

Hi, Have you fixed this driver problem yet? I have a new 64-bit vista laptop and am experiencing a similar problem. I believe that BlackBerry does not have adequate drivers for 64-bit Vista.
My old XP laptop is 32 bit and works fine with bluetooth. However, two of the bluetooth services for blackberry fail under 64 bit and don't install device drivers.
I checked the error logs and they indicate that the driver is not loaded or working for Bluetooth with Blackberry devices. My guess is that RIM has not fully developed/teste the 64 bit vista device drivers.
The device will work fine in hard-wired USB tethered mode, it just won't work with bluetooth 64-bit vista.
The upshot is don't use blackberry bluetooth on 64 bit vista, use it with XP.
Maybe RIM will fix this in the next version of Windows, Windows 7.

Anyone Have a Blackberry Tour 9630 Replaced with BB Bold when RIM said Tours Defective?

I'm asking this because I need to find out who got a replacement Bold or other Blackberry for the defective Tour 9630 since in my case I got screwed.
I'm curious when they allowed the swap and if your contract was extended?
Why? Because my story tops them all as far as cell phone provider issues! I want to file an FCC complaint but I need some more facts that Verizon is not giving me after they look up my account and realize I'm one they got one over on.
Here is what happened to me:
I upgraded after my 1st year with Verizon, I got a Blackberry Tour in 1/2010. That phone had so many problems I had to keep taking it in every month for a replacement. Verizon refused to exchange for a different Blackberry. I had it 6 Blackberry Tour 9630's in 6 months.
I even called RIM and they said they had "design" issues with the Tour and it's being taken off the market with the phone carriers, they said Verizon should be allowing you to get a replacement phone of same or lower cost (another Blackberry).
Well that never happened and I had to file an FCC complaint before corporate finally called to help me. I even told them the "NEW" Tour I paid for when I signed a new contract was refurbished because when I tried to send the info in for the rebate, I got an letter stating that particular phone already received it's rebate. Yep, I paid for a used phone, nice huh?
I should have stopped it right there, given them their used phone back and walked away but I'm thinking they are working with me and gave me the rebate ASAP, it will be OK.
WRONG!! 6 months into the contract with theTour not working and those 6 replacements I mentioned, they agree to give me another phone for $50. I said "drop dead, no more money from me because of an issue that's no fault of mine."
Then they said OK we'll give you a phone of the same value at no charge. So not knowing how the Bold was gonna work yet, I went with a Droid 2 as the Droid 1 had been out awhile and I heard most bugs had been worked out.
Now here is the real kicker in the whole story. After they mailed me the new Droid, I was online paying my bill and noticed Verizon re-set my contract.
Instead of being up in January 2012 it now shows September 2012 even though I got the Droid 2 in July. **bleep**??
No one told me that and I couldn't get anyone to help fix that mess, they said "you got a new phone, we resolved your issue". Yeah ONE of the issues, not all of the issues like the fact the very first new phone of the new contract was USED!
Then to make matters worse, I heard from 2 people who had Tours and they said Verizon changed the policy and replaced the Tours with the Blackberry Bold for no charge and no contract extension. One of them swaped the phone May 30th and the other at the end of June. Before and after they finally called to help me.
This is why I need to know not what the Verizon policy states (because they can type of anything for all I know) but who got a new phone and when. What month and what year?
This is only referring to the Blackberry Tour 9630 the one with the small black trackball that they promptly pulled off the shelves around the time I got another phone.
If Verizon said they were looking into a solution, I would have used my old Blackberry Curve for a bit , gotten the Bold, and not be looking at this 9 month contract extension.
I don't know, they make it so hard for honest people who have hit hard times and dealt with bad phone after bad phone to just get a fair break. I have been sick and out of work for 3 years, I've used every penny I saved hoping I was going to get better. That is now not going to happen and when I really need out of the **bleep** contract, they pull this garbage.
If I just want out of the contract , I was told it would cost around $350. If I had $350 I wouldn't be typing this. I suppose I can fake my own death and get out of the contract that way.
So guess I work on becoming dead since that's my only option. I will never, ever, ever sign a cell contract as long as live, if I live.
I don't mean to sound like such a bitchy customer, I really feel I was screwed from the start of this contract and the screws keep coming!

As iSync doesn't support Blackberry devices and you are using software from RIM to sync your Mac, you are unlikely to find a solution here.
However, one general point about syncing is the more things you try to sync with, the more likely problems are to appear. Syncing with both iCal and Entourage is often a culprit. I would suggest leaving Entourage out of the equation altogether and just sync iCal and the Blackberry software.

Intellisync Unknown error reported

I have a new Verizon Storm 2, Windows XP and Office 2007. I am unable to synchronize to outlook.
I have seen a number of reports with this exact log but no solution, tried everything from deleting the intellisync folder to complete reinstall of Desktop Manager.. spent 4 hours on the phone with RIM. They say it looks like a Microsoft bug, Reinstall XP. This is normally a we have no clue kind of admittance.
I also tried a new id on the system. Not sure what to try next.

I would recommend to uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Software http://bit.ly/aMZYJL along with both copies of Outlook. Make sure you have all the disks and instructions on clean uninstall of Microsoft Outlook. Once complete reinstall only 1 version of Outlook and install BlackBerry Desktop Software and configure the sync.

Hardware requirements for JavaFx 2.1.1

Hello there,
I've built a JavaFx application (Rubiks Cube type game), it runs fine on:
My desktop (Win7 64bit, has GTX560TI graphics card)
My laptop (Win7 bit, has ATI5470 card)
But not on netbook (Win7 Starter, Intel Atom N450), the 3D effect doesn't show, and the images just appear in the corner of screen.
Is this because it has no graphics card, and uses cpu for graphics?
Or is it something software related that netbook can't handle?
Thanks for any advice, I'm just trying to make it clear for the various users using the product.

For example, show an error info message or a 2D tic tac toe game instead.

Trackball not moving in a direction

There is a very easy solution.The solution is the same as years ago when computer mice all had trackballs. Take a cotton swap and a drop of rubbing alcohol and place it on the the on the swab and then apply that to the trackball. Then move the trackball. It should free it up instantly. I am very surprised that tech support at Blackberry does not know this. This a trick that computer techs have known for years. We used to take te track ball out and clean it but I am not sure how the housing on the trackball is secured so I personally would not fool with it

Have you removed your trackball from the device? Cleaning mouse in easy but BlackBerry trackball is a bit difficult. I did it by myself for two of pearl devices. Some extra causion need to be taken for this.

Making Groups in messaging and recent contacts list for sent messages !

I can't find any option for making groups for sending messages or getting list of recently sent messages to contacts. Every time I ve to scroll for contcts for multiple messaging or searching for contacts !
Is there any option for that ? Pls do let me know if so.

Shockwave Player not responding or may be busy.

For several weeks now I keep getting a pop up window that says shockwave Player not responding or may be busy.Press stop or continue to see if the plugin will work.Firefox,Win7,bit 64.This seems to happen on just about any website.Why? How do I stop this ?

Roxio Creator 2009 No Longer Works

I am using Vista 32 bit O/S with all the patches.
When I upgraded to the latest Desktop version (version 96) of the software recently, I found that my Roxio Creator 2009 no longer works. I can't even open the application up. When I go to start the Roxio software, I just get a message that "Roxio Creator has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Any suggestions for getting my Roxio Creator software to function again?

What does this have to do with Blackberry?
Before the upgrade, it worked. After the upgrade, it doesn't work. That's what it has to do with BlackBerry.

Not to my knowledge, although I am not certain. I tried to avoid installing the Roxio Media Manager. I just see on my Desktop software:
- Applications
- Organizer
- Media Sync
- Music
- Pictures
- Videos
When I go About BlackBerry Desktop Software and View details on installed components, I don't see anything related to Roxio.
Where do I check to be sure?
If so, that does interfere with other installations of Roxio. You'll need to uninstall Roxio Media manager and reinstall your othe Roxio software.
Again, I don't believe that I loaded Roxio Media Manager. I am not sure where to check.
If required, how do I uninstall Roxio Media Manager from BlackBerry new desktop software?

BB Classic Power Button

Hi!
I know that power button on BlackBerry Classic is a bit bulky, which leads to the problem in which the phone can be switched off unintentionally if carried in a pocket. So the question is this: Maybe it is possible to somehow change the button OR to change how software responds to this button ? E.g to ask user if he really wants to switch off his phone or not?

Installing flash cs6

hello everybody ;
i have a problem with installing flash cs6 in my computer - i use win7 bit 32- , every thing is right at the first ,but when it reached to 15% or 75% of installing the application were canceled and show this message " please insert the disk " after choosing try or serial number -the second step-.
how can i solve this problem ,

Why is my 3G so slow??

I recently bought the 9300 3G phone thinking that I would have at least decent speeds using the net, but sometimes pages don't load at all, I can't be waiting almost 5 minutes for just the homepage of facebook to load for example, I haven't got alot of memory used or anything like that as I only bought it 2 days ago.
Was there anything that I was upposed to do before using the net, like tweaking some settings or something?? I'm using software 6 by the way.
Obviously for me BlackBerry has been a bit of a disappointment

This could, of course, be a carrier and/or signal issue and/or a website issue.
What is the full version of your OS (all 4 octets) - Menu>Options>About and which carrier are you with?
Do have a data plan?
In the meantime there's a couple things you could try:-
With the BB powered-on, remove the battery and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Select Browser>menu>options>Browser Options>Cache Operations>Clear History.
Try that followed by another battery pull. Let us know what effect that has.

Syncing Paybook with laptop

Bought two new Paybooks for kids for xmas. Playbooks work ok but when I install Blackberry desktop on win7 laptop and click on it the screen goes all distorted and it can't sync. "My Computer" doesn't detect the paybook it so can't access that way. Tryed switching off avg and firewall but still the same.
Installed it on my old desktop computer with xp and it worked fine but transfering files takes hours because of its age.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do you rectify??
