BlackBerry Maps on Torch 9810

I just upgraded from a Torch 9800 to Torch 9810. When I open BlackBerry Maps I shows my current location but the BB button the return key don't do anything. On the touch screen the search and Get directions don't do anything either. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it using BB Desktop and it is the same no change.  The only thing I can do is press hang up to get out of the app. But the app stays active. I can see it on switch applications and there is no way to close it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm not sure if that's a common problem or not but because it's obviously a software glitch, you should try a battery pull if you haven't already.  Battery pulls are recommended quite often in these forums because they do wonders at solving many minor issues.  So with your phone powered on, go ahead and remove your battery.  You can then put it back in a few seconds later.
Let us know if that helps you.

  • Torch 9810

I am a 1st  time owner of a blackberry product,  the Torch 9810.
I am experiencing the following problems:
    1)  Ring tone and vibration will not activate during an incoming call.  All ring tone settings have been set on,
         loud  and vibrate.
If I removed the battery and turned the phone back on, the ring tone will come back until I turned the unit
         off and on again.
    2)  The phone constantly freezes when using new applications such as the camera or surfing the internet.
Nothing I can do to unfreeze the phone, only thing that would work is to remove the battery again.
    3)  Battery will not last me more that 8 hours on stand by.
I am getting fed up with this phone and my 1st blackberry product.
Could someone shed a light on these problem.  I am better off with my old smart phone.
    Jim L.

You're confusing poor service at your wireless carrier for poor service from BlackBerry. BlackBerry supports your carrier but your carrier doesn't support you. Nothing BlackBerry can do about that.
Your anger is misplaced at BB when it should be at Vodacom.
To try and solve some of the issues I'd suggest making a full backup of the phone with BlackBerry Desktop Software. Then go to Options >type in Security Wipe in the search bar and select Security Wipe. Do the Security Wipe on the device. That will erase all your data and bring the device back to out-of-the-box condition. Before restoring your backup see how the device behaves. If it still has problems then it is likely a hardware problem needing repair. If it works then it is an issue with your data and can be fixed easily.

  • I am very disappointed with my BlackBerry Torch 9810.

I've been using BlackBerry phones since the past three years. I've used BlackBerry Curve 8520, BlackBerry Bold 2 and now, I've purchased Torch 9810.
I purchased it on 21st of August, 2012. Not even 10 days since I bought it, it started to hang. I had to remove my battery and put it in again. I've been doing this everyday, now.
It happens especially when I start the music player. The phone hangs.
What am I supposed to do?
    Please help.

You need to upgrade to the latest available OS v7.1, there is a big difference.
Connect to your PC and run the BlackBerry Desktop Software. If you are given a notice to upgrade, cancel that, and FIRST do a complete backup of your device.
    Then, proceed with the upgrade.
If you don't receive an upgrade notice, that means your mobile provider, Reliance, has not yet released it, but there are other upgrade routes. Post back, if needed.

  • Blackberry torch 9810 wont start after blackberry protect updated

got alert for blackberry protect update and installed up and went to reboot now . now my blackberry torch 9810 acts like it is restarting and will not come back on. need help asap!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you able to restart your device in safe mode as shown in KB17877?
I assume, since it's caught in a reboot cycle, when you connect to the Desktop Software it doesn't take a stable connection to reinstall your software?
If that is case, remove your battery and keep it out when you connect to the Desktop Software. You will get a pop up that the device can't connect and there should be Retry, Update and Cancel buttons. Select Update and you will then be able to reinstall the current device software version.
When the load is progressing, you will see a step that says "Wait for device initialization". At this point, insert the battery and the reload should complete.

  • Play iTunes Movie on BlackBerry Torch 9810

There is definitely no shortage of M4V to MP4 converter on the Internet. One of the best M4V to MP4 converter is called Tune4mac iTunes M4V Converter Plus, which is able to remove DRM control from iTunes M4V movie rentals and purchases and convert M4V to MP4 format supported by BlackBerry Torch 9810. It not only support BlackBerry but also support most pupular devices and formats. This M4V to MP4 converter runs on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion.

Ita really a good converter. It can also convert iTunes movies to other devices, like Apple iPhone, iPod, iPad, Apple TV, PSP, Zune, Xoom, Galaxy Tab, iRiver, etc.

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 screen dont show up

Hello, I have a weird problem with my blackberry torch 9810, all the lights from the kerboard and the 4 button (call, blackberry button, return button and turn off button) are on and also, the green light LED is on too but the SCREEN doesn't show up. If anyone knows what the problem and how to fix it please tell.
    <Personal Content Removed>

OK, it appears that your phone is not going to boot properly.  The important thing to do now is to get it to connect to BlackBerry Desktop Software (available at www.blackberry.com/desktop if you don't have it installed yet on your PC).  Plug your phone in to your PC, open BDS and wait for your phone to connect.  The software might detect that you don't have a proper OS loaded to your phone.  Whatever message you get, please post back with it and we'll take it from there.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Not able to download apps to my BlackBerry Torch 9810

Hi everyone.  New BB user here.  Just picked up a BB Torch 9810.  Set up my BlackBerry ID and have no problem accessing pretty much everything - except App World.  When I attempt to download an app or go to the My World tab I get a legal notice regarding "BlackBerry App World and BlackBerry Payment Service..."  When I accept the agreement, nothing happens.  Won't let me download the app I've selected, just goes right back to the app description.  I try clicking on the My World tab and no matter how many times I accept the agreement it won't let me do anything; just keeps asking me to accept the agreement again.  I've already tried uninstalling and redownloading App World, yet I continue to get the error.
I like the phone but without the ability to download apps it's fairly useless to me.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

  • Blackberry torch 9810

my blackberry torch 9810 keeps switching itself off and deleting my media , and its done it 3 times, am i doing something wrong or is it the phone?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's nothing you're doing wrong.  We, as humans, are not perfect and neither is any brand of smartphone.
Let's start with something simple: a battery pull.  Removing your battery while your phone is powered on then replacing it can do wonders for your phone.  It clears out the cache and speeds up your phone's operation.  I would suggest starting with that.
Give that a try and post back with your results.  We have other options we can explore if necessary.

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 availability

My Blackberry  Torch 9810 is irrepairably damaged and for insurance to pay out, I need to obtain a quote on a new 9810. I was told by my carrier that they are no longer manufactured. Can anyone confirm this?

That's correct. The only way you'll get one is to buy one second-hand.
    Cheers.

  • Picture Restore on Dead Blackberry Torch 9810

I would REALLY appreciate if someone could help me out. I have tried everything but I can not get my BB to power up.  I have no idea why the phone stopped working. I plugged it in last night and BB Protect did a backup early this morning at 1:23 am EST. When I woke up this morning the phone would not power up. We tried different batteries. No change. There is no SD drive on it so it is not restorable in that way. I can not connect wirelessly from my service provider to be able to send updates, etc. I have used BB Protect and so I have my contacts etc. However, I really need to get my pics. I recently traveled to Kauai. I saved up 2 yrs for the trip and the pics on my phone are priceless to me. Is there anything that can be done to restore them??? I would be so grateful!
    Can anyone help me?!!! PLEASE!!!

  • Tethering a BlackBerry Torch 9810

Does anybody know if I can tether a Blackberry Torch 9810 to a ThinkPad Tablet.
When I try in Bluetooth on my Tablet I can get them paired but I get this message "Paired but not connected".
Has anybody had any luck in doing this?
    Thanks

That can be tricky:  I found the following link though.
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?externalId=KB12544&sliceId=1&cmd=displayKC&d...
I've never tried this so hopefully it will work.
Is using the usb cable an option?  I've used tether before and it works:
    http://tether.com/
I also think you can use the desktop manager use your phone as a modem: (might be the easiest option!)

  • HELP CRASHES !!!! BLACKBERRY TORCH 9810 AT&T OS 7

Hi, I have a blackberry Torch 9810 from AT&T OS 7.0 which I have purchased on Ebay. I got the phone a couple of days ago so everything was fine with it till I started to update the phone. Well to make a long history short my phone Internet crashes all the time, When I really need to place a call the phone freezes and says "call failed". When I receive Broadcast form my contacts I get those BC in black color letters instead of purple.
But the most aggravated situation is that I have pulled the battery out too many times to fix the problem and problem still continues,. I have wiped the phone´s OS with BBSak to have it reload with BBSAK and also try with DM, I have Updated/downgraded this phone, I have done so many things to this freaking phone that I think the last thing I will do to it is smash it against the wall. I will highly appreciate if someone can  help me with this issue. I was wondering if this phone was reported Stolen/ Lost / Blacklisted is there any app that its actually making this
conflict perhaps the phone´s transmitter/antenna.. Any body pleaseeeee!!

I doubt her carrier will do anything as she does not own it anymore.
you have done the updates, reinstall and more to prove its most likely the phones fault

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 auto-rotating not working !

Hello guys my friend just bought a Blackberry Torch 9810 few weeks ago , only two weeks I think.
And yesterday she found out that the auto-rotating doesn't work - that is the first time she tried to rotate the phone because she want to stream a video.
Hard or Soft reset has been done , reboot has been done , sliders not open , no rotation lock apps has been installed.
Is this the sensor problem ? I mean , the phone is like brand new and just bought two weeks and the sensor got problem so fast ?
If anyone knows that exact and working solution please help ~
    Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

It could be...any device designed, built, and operated by humans is subject to a defect rate greater than zero. But, at an internet distance, it is of course impossible to provide an actual diagnosis, especially if the problem indeed is hardware. Only in hand evaluation by a qualified technician can truly diagnose a hardware problem.
