Blackberry Media sync crashes after updating in Windows Vista

Hi, I installed Desktop Manager v4.6. in Windows Vista Business edition. When I try to use the Media Manager, it tells me that the Blackberry Media Sync is not installed and it prompts me if I want to install it. After it downloads and attempts to install the Media Sync, it crashes, it says "Blackberry Desktop manager has stopped working" and you can only Close the program or check online for solutions (which they don't give you any). Any ideas why this happens?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Personally, I don't use Media Manager. Don't like it.
You can enable Mass Storage on your Media Card and drag and drop files to and from the Media Card quite easily.

  • Blackberry Media Sync crashes after install

    Hi,
    I'm runningv4.5.0.110 (Platform 2.7.0.90) on my 8310.
My Desktop Manager is v4.6.0.13 (Jun 20, 2008)
After downloadiung and installing Music Sync, it crashes everytime I try to run is with the typical Windows XP dialouge asking if I want to send this info to Microsoft.
Below is the Application Log entry generated at the time of failure.
Even if I can't make it work, I need to uninstall it to get the vanilla media manager to work.
    Help!
    Windows XP Application Log entry

  • BlackBerry Media Sync Crashes

I've been having many problems with BB Media Sync (the most recent version from the BB website).  After the program loaded, I would connect my BB and it would immediately crash and give me an error message.  Two weeks ago, I reinstalled Windows 7 and I installed BB Media Sync along with the desktop applications.  I'm still having this problem:
      Problem Event Name:    CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01:    blackberry media sync.exe

I've tried changing the registry entry for photo importation, which did not exist, so I added one (string value), but it still crashes.

    Any ideas?
    Best,

    Hi Paul:
Thanks for reporting this issue.  We’re looking into it.
I think removing the MediaSync files from your device will help solve this issue.
Be warned, after  you do this, MediaSync won’t remember any of your previous selections.
Connect your phone and enable USB Massstorage
In Windows Explorer, find the drive you’ve been using with MediaSync
The path will be something like J:\home\user\system\Media Sync
    Delete all the files here.
Go to %appdata%\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Media Sync
    Delete all the files here.
    Try using MediaSync again.
    Cheers
    M

  • Blackberry Media Sync Crashing on Startup

Hey guys, first off I know there is another thread for this but it say's its solved so I am just reposting.
But I just got the blackberry storm over the weekend, my first blackberry and so far I havent had any problems except for the Media Sync which I would really like to use so I can sync my Itunes.
First off I installed the desktop manager and when to media in there and when I tried to start media sync from there it completely crashed desktop manager even before and after restart.
Then I decided to install it seperately from the blackberry website and it installed perfectly fine but when I try to run it it immediately crashes before it shows anything and there is no error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would really like this to sync with my itunes.
    P.S I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

Its actually pretty good, 2 GB memory, 100 GB hard drive, 2.16 ghz processor.
Don't have problems with other things so I assume its powerful enough for the blackberry software.
    Thanks for the suggestion though.
    Anything else?

  • Rescue and Recovery after update from Windows Vista to 7

I've updated my 2 years old Lenovo T60 from the preinstalled Windows Vista to Windows 7. For short: I like it.
I kept the recovery partition but now want to update it, to keep it in sync with the current windows and Rescue and Recovery versions. By the way, due to earlier problems the system in this versions is not functional anymore. I tied to read the manual of Rescue and Recovery, but didn't get it...
Is their an "easy" way (or documentation) to accomplish that?
    Thanks and Greetings

The factory partition can't be updated - it is your recovery for what came out of the box with the system.  You can create factory recovery CD's/DVD's and store them somewhere just in case, and then you should be able to remove that partition and reclaim the space.  At that point, Rescue and Recovery for Win7 becomes your sole recovery option.
There is a lot of new architecture in the Win7 version of R&R so you can't "upgrade" it from Vista - you'll need to install the new version in Win7.  It would probably be a good idea to burn your Vista Rescue and Recovery backups to CD/DVD before you upgrade, too.

  • No tethering after updating from windows vista to windows 7 (home premium)

    Hi.
I have an iphone ver 3.1.3 (7E18) firmware 05.12.01 with movistar. The iphone works well with windows vista and also works with windows xp but not with windows 7. I try a lot of times to uninstall all the software and then reinstall again, but nothing works. Can somebody help me?

Hi it works for my Windows 7 but not after I reformat my computer.
I highly suspect that v3.1.3 OS is making the difference as previously I was able to tether.

  • Blackberry 9860 frequent crashes after update!

After Wiping my Blackberry 9860 Phone and reinstalling the latest Phone software from Vodafone using application loader with the vendor file deleted, the phone worked for 5 minutes, and froze then crashed, when i did a hard reset, it got stuck while loading and sat there for hours, i had to run the Loading process again using the application loader, then wipping with BBSAK, and reloading the OS with application loader, but same issue repeats itself, now my phone is totally useless as this crashing process keeps repeating itself.
Please any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Hello!
If you wish to continue trying diagnostics, you may want to try this tedious procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry Media Sync and Windows 7 Beta

I recently downloaded the new Windows 7 Beta from Microsoft and set my computer up as a dual boot system (along side Vista) just to check it out and experiment. One of the issues i've noticed is that some installation programs do not recognize Windows 7 as a supported OS (no surprise here since it is just a Beta) even though it is more or less, Vista. One of these installation programs is the installer for Blackberry Media Sync. Was just wondering if anyone might have information on how to get around this, or, if RIM is working on updates to support the new OS. I know this is more an issue with Windows than it is with RIM, but it would be nice if RIM included the OS as an option. Thanks for your time, cheers to all.

OK guys I am not a geek I have no idea how to do this stuff.  But it is Jan 2011 and I could not get my new laptop to recognize the Blackberry Curve 9700 so I could sync it up.   What I did to solve this is I synced up the device with my old desktop, which I had not done in over 6 months after I had a hard drive crash on a laptop.  Whatever happened, the device ended up with  a bunch of new software on it and when I put it on the new laptop it synced up just fine.  I don't know if this will help anybody but I hope so.

  • I downloaded the latest important update to windows vista yesterday, and since then Firefox crashes very soon after enetering the portal of any website I visit, and I want to know if the windows vista update could be doing this?

Yesterday (23rd March) my computer appeared to perform an auto update of windows vista and since then every time time use firefox it crashes shortly after entering a web portal (after about 1-5 seconds). It even crashes on the BBC news page which I always use to check stability. I have been using Firefox for years and it has just started doing this. However, I examined the programme files and actaully cannot see a windows vista update for yesterday, but I can see that there was a Firefox update, so now I'm a bit confused. Looking at the program files in more details it appears that there was a very major update of Firefox taking place including lots of file extensions. You should also know that your password recovery process doesn't work. I never got the email that is supposed to help me recover a lost password. I am really disappointed with Firefox doing this. It's costing me time and money. Can you help before I give up and go back to using Windows explorer (ugh!). I have thought of simply removing Firefox and starting again with a new download but that might not solve the probelm and I will lose my bookmarks.

I have an update to my message posted yesterday regarding Firefox crash after vista update. Today it got worse when Firefox wouldn't open at all and Windows explorer also stopped working. Curiously, email was still working, and when I checked another (little used) account on the same PC, I got a perfect connection with Firefox and Explorer. I had to conclude that the latest updates of Vista have interacted with some application only found in my main account on the PC. I tried opening Firefox in its safe mode and I tried opening explorer without Plug ins, but neither worked. Finally I decided the only answer was to do a system restore and wind back the windows software to where it was before the problem. I now have Firefox and explorer restored to working order, but I still don't understand why, because I got a message saying the system restore hasn't worked. Full Comprehension of the cause is beyond my capability, but through trial and error as described above I seem to have fixed it. The suspect vista updates are KB2505189 , and KB2524375.

  • Blackberry Media Sync always crashes

My 8310 is running the most current Blackberry software.
I am on the most current version of Desktop Manager.
I downloaded and installed Blackberry Media Sync.
Application Event Log shows a successful install.
Every time I select Blackberry Media Sync from Desktop Manager, it fails with "an application error has occurred.  would you like to inform MS, etc..."
Here's what the Application Event Log error entry shows.
Faulting application blackberry music sync.exe, version 1.1.0.24, stamp 49411411, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, stamp 4802a12c, debug? 0, fault address 0x00012aeb.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,.

    Hi zoelou:
MediaSync expects you to have the special ‘My Music’ folder on your system.  looks to me like MediaSync is crashing because it isn’t finding that folder.
If you can re-create this folder, MediaSync should work properly.
    cheers
