Blackberry Messenger "Additional Info" is wrong - I can't correct it

When I first opened up Blackberry Messenger, It asked me to associate a contact with my identity.
It was my first night with the touchscreen keyboard and I unwittingly selected the wrong contact from my list.
Now when I view my Contact Profile and look up "View My Additional Info" it has the information for the wrong contact.
I tried using the "Remove Link WIth Blackberry Contact" from the "View Additional Info" window, but even when I hit "yes" to the warning the wrong information still remains.
How do I change the info to the correct contact? or how do I reset the whole thing? or how do I edit the existing information?
Solved!

UPDATE The issue seems to have resolved itself... Don't know if it was when I updated the BBM software or when I reset the device by removing the battery... ???

  • Mozilla Firefox has my location wrong how can I correct or disable it.

It appears that most sites get my location from Mozilla Firefox. It is constantly incorrect and moves around. Today it was someplace in Texas and I live in Ohio. This is a desktop computer and doesn't move. I have set it on several sites and I don't delete my cookies but somewhere along the line it gets changed. It appears it gets changed in my Mozilla Firefox. I know you go off the dsl location or something but it just doesn't work. Even when it gets me in Ohio it's constantly a different city. How can I get a permanent location in Mozilla Firefox or disable the location finder in Mozilla Firefox?

Allpa, you might as well give up. I've fought this for quite a while and tried everything people say and nothing will get Mozilla to show your true location. It's because whoever supplies your internet actually gets on the internet at different locations for whatever reason. People on here use lots of initials for things I don't know what they mean for sure. I've emptied stuff, turned stuff off, turned stuff on and generally I'm in a different city in Ohio every day. Occasionally I'm in Texas and rarely in some other state. To mess with people I search for the nearest pizza place and then click on all their ads. Somebody someplace is paying for ads that aren't doing any good. Makes me feel better.

Connect your device via USB-cable to the computer.
    Launch Internet Explorer
    Open this address: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/devices/
    Click on "Update Now"  button
Popup will be displayed, now open the applications list, find BB Messenger in the apps list and check it to install.

  • Why can't I open my BlackBerry Messenger?

I'm having this problem with my BlackBerry. I don't know why I can't open my BlackBerry Messenger. I've tried to plugged out the battery and put it back in but still, I can't open my BlackBerry Messenger. So I did it repeatedly but I can't still open my BlackBerry Messenger. I read all about it on the internet and all they suggested is to back-up the BlackBerry Messenger contacts and upgrade the BlackBerry Messenger. I'd like to do that but how can I back-up my BlackBerry Messenger contacts when I can't even open my BlackBerry Messenger? So I tried downloading the BlackBerry Desktop Software. I connect my phone to it and I clicked on "Back up now". And now it's saved in my documents. But my question is, now that (I think) I've backed up all of my data, can I delete my BlackBerry Messenger and install/upgrade it and still have all my contacts? PLEASE REPLY ASAP.

With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRTKB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless networkPlease wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app2) Delete and Resend Service BooksKB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphoneIf you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletionKB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet ServicePlease wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.3) RebootWith power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support...only they can look at their network to determine why it's not properly communicating with your device.

  • I Can't Recieve or Send Messages To People Abroad Through Blackberry Messenger

Hi, I'm having huge trouble with my Blackberry Messenger. It's not letting me sending messages to any person abroad BUT I'm still able to send it to people in the same country (UK). This has never happened to me before and just happened suddenly this morning.
This has happened to someone I know and it eventually worked itself out after quite a long time, he couldn't send message abroad, couldn't recieve them and even couldnt use it through Yahoo Messenger or MSN. He went to the provider and they had no idea either.
This is a huge problem for me and I need to get this sorted out as soon as possible.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be and how it can be resolved???
    Thank you.

You need to call your carrier/mobile provider support desk, and ask to have this escated up to the BlackBerry  RIM level tech support.
    Good luck.

Since you just upgraded it, please try instead removing and then reinstalling BBM fresh and clean. Be sure to first backup (locally) your contacts:

You may also, if you are a member of any groups, want to back those up as well using a selective Desktop Software Backup:

  • Can't find my BlackBerry Messenger icon

    Hello,
I've had my BlackBerry Bold 9700 for more than 3 months
Lately, the icon's been getting stuck on my Main Screen
So, I always ended up uninstalling and reinstalling, and the problem would always get fixed
But last time I did that, my BlackBerry Messenger disappeared
    I tried everything!
I looked through every single folder, ticked Show All, but nothing
I also went to Explore, showed hidden files, there was nothing
I tried rebooting, deleting and reinstalling, also nothing
I also went on Desktop Manager, checked the Application Loader, and it's there, it's ticked
I checked Options > Applications > Add-on, and I can see that the BlackBerry Messenger is installed (Research In Motion Limited, version 5.0.1.38)
My Device Software is updated, and when I check for updates, it says no updates available
I tried Security Wipe, but it's still not there
I  tried to backup and restore as well, but nothing's changed
    What am I missing?
    Do I have to downgrade?
What else do I have to do?...

    Problem solved.
    Try this!
Don't delete your BlackBerry Messenger from Options > Applications
Even if you can't find it in your home screen, leave it as it is
Go to http://www.blackberry.com/messenger using your BlackBerry browser
Download and it'll ask you if you want to overwrite, so all you have to do is accept
    Worked for me!
    Hope this helps

  • Where Can I Find The "Set Alert" Feature in Blackberry Messenger 5.0

    Hello,
I just upgraded my Blackberry Messenger from version 4.5 to 5.0.0.57 on my Curve 8310.  However, in BB Messenger 5.0, I cannot figure out how to turn on the "set alert" feature that is available in BB Messenger 4.5  The "set alert" features allows you to know when an instant message has been read by the person you sent it to.  This is an invaluable feature for me (and I believe for many other), hence I cannot believe BlackBerry removed this feature in BB Messenger 5.0.
Any help regarding this topic is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Nawaab

    Hello,
Honestly, I've never seen a setting for that. But, even with no such setting, I see the receipts just fine in all 1:1 conversations. Group conversations, however, don't show receipts -- and I don't recall any prior version showing such for groups.
    Good luck!

  • Need help re installing blackberry messenger. i have spo...

need help re installing blackberry messenger. i have spoken to my network provider and they could not help and therefore refer me to you.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
    - I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
    - My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
    - Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
    - Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
    The good news is:
    - They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
    - They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
            - Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
             - The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

  • How to add BlackBerry Messenger Contacts?

I recently purchased the BlackBerry 8300 World Edition phone and found the online tutorial to be quite useful.  Unfortunately, I find myself stomped because I want to add contacts so that I can commence conversations on the BlackBerry Messenger network.  Can anyone advise how to add contacts and send a message to them?
    Regards,
    Babb

    In Addition:
Once the invite is accepted, they will show up in your contacts list once you open BB Messenger.  To start a conversation, just click on the selected person and start typing.(the typing window appears at the bottom).  You can also send files between contacts.  It's a cool little program.  I use it more than I thought I would.

If you are having trouble locating BlackBerry World as well as BlackBerry Messenger , then :
    For BlackBerry App World :

  • Adding Blackberry Messenger Contacts

    Hi there,
I'm trying to add Blackberry Messenger contacts to my new Blackberry 8330.  When I select "add a contact" - it brings me to my address book - I then highlight the person I want - and I select "send to messenger contacts" - and then a "select a contact" window pops up and says "empty"  It won't let me add anyone - does not ask for the contacts e-mail address or anything.  What am I doing wrong?
