Blackberry mx servers blacklist of postfix server ?

Hello,
We are unable from one of our servers to send mail to blackberry mailbox.
We have this from postfix log :
Jul 28 16:41:32 toto postfix/qmgr[22971]: 070762300F: to=<****@***.blackberry.com>, relay=none, delay=240528, delays=240526/1.5/0/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: lost connection with mx03.bis.eu.blackberry.com[216.9.253.34] while receiving the initial server greeting)
We have also this message from all blackberry mx servers.
We have test connection with a telenet on the port 25, but the connection is closing instantly :
$ telnet mx04.bis.eu.blackberry.com 25
Trying 216.9.253.35...
Connected to mx04.bis.eu.blackberry.com.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
$
We have not this problem from other servers and this problem appeared since a few days.
Do you think there can be a blacklist of smtp servers which are sending mail to bb mailbox ?
Any help will be greatly apperciate.
Regards,
Nicolas

BIS maintains its blacklist of IP address and domains based on industry standards. If your IP and domain ratings have gone bad on anti-spam monitoring websites, and as soon as those ratings are back to normal you should be able to send mail to BB address.

  • Forwarding mail from external OSX 10.3 to internal OS 10.4 postfix server?

I have set up an internal postfix server and an external postfix server.
The internal server is up and running sending messages to all the internal users.
And the internal users are able to send email to the Internet.
And those message are being relayed through the external server.
Also I have opened the smtp port in the gateway between the two machines.
And the MX record points to the external server.
But I'm having a problem receiving mail. It seems that the external server is receiving mail but not relaying it to the internal server.
I still have "mydestination" set to mydomain.com on the external server.
I'm not certain if this is the main reason why the mail hangs or if this value needs to remain in place after I start using the external server as a relay. But then again I also have to tell the external server where to relay all incoming mail.
I was wondering if the following would make sense:
    Remove the mydestination parameter
    set up a "relay_domains = mydomain.com"
    set up a "transport_maps =hash:/etc/postfix/transport"
    and then add "mydomain.com relay:[gw.mydomain.com]"
    to the transport file?
Is this the correct method or should I take a different approach?
    TIA
    Hans

This episode has tought me that information found on
the internet is not always correct.
Quite often the problem is not always incorrect information, but also the fact that postfix can be configured in many different ways. Considering however the way OS X is "pre-configured", solutions which are fine for a "plain-vanilla" postfix install will not necessarily work without modification on OS X.
    The sad thing is
I had looked at the postfix homepage but overlooked
the information you pointed me to.
Happens to me all the time
I do have a question though...
When naming my two servers, can I use any names that
comply to hostname.mydomain.com or do I need to use
    mail.mydomain.com for the external server?
You are free to use any FQDN you wish as long as the MX record reflects it.
mail.domain.tld is often used because it is easy for users to remember when configuring smtp/pop/imap. It is however only a convention/habit like www. is for websites.
    Have fun,
    Alex

  • Download email from External Postfix Server to Leopard Mail Server?

Any pointers to specific articles, much appreciated.
We presently have our website and mail servers (postfix) hosted on surftown, which has squirrelmail for webmail.
We do not have a static IP and use dyndns.
The domain on surftown is xxxx.com
We also run an intranet with a couple of Leopard Servers behind a VPN,with our own local DNS on intranet.xxxx.com
I would like to take the emailserver inside the VPN and onto a Leopard Server, but leave the website on surftown.
Is it possible to have postfix on a Leopard Server log onto the postfix server at surftown and draw the email off?
Users would then access their email via the Leopard Server.
If they are in the office LAN or in a satellite office connected VPN, then they will use POP/IMAP within Mail.
If they are outside the VPN they can use Webmail via a logon with a Netgear SSL312.
Does anyone have any experience of using the Leopard Server postfix to tap an external postfix service? It would certainly be cheaper than paying DynDNS to do a mailhop and trap.

Look for discussions of [imapsync|http://freshmeat.net/projects/imapsync> as one potential starting point for your quest and as keyword fodder for your searches.
This is usually one of two general classes of problem. Presuming this is a technical limitation out at your ISP (eg: they don't "do" static addresses) and not a budget-targetting effort (implying that you probably won't want to spend on a tunnel), setting up an IPv6 tunnel over IPv4 might be an alternative.

  • Blackberry IP address blacklisted

Yesterday while testing sending emails from my Blackberry (BB) to colleagues in my company I found that nobody had received them. Investigating further I found they had been quarantined by our spam filter. I 'released' them which then automatically added the IP to the 'white list' so emails from my BB
with the same IP address will get through.
However I wondered why the BB IP address had been blacklisted. This morning I asked our external IT service people to look at the emails that were quarantined yesterday. I also sent another email to them this morning to see if emails from my BB get quarantined by a different company's spam filter.
Sure enough my email was quarantined - and for the same reason; the Blackberry IP address is blacklisted. I have pasted a copy of the email below so you can see the spam filter's reason for rejection.
I now have a constant concern that emails from my BB could well be simply going into the recipients quarantine or just be deleted so they never receive them.  From my business's perspective this could be very serious.  As I understand it, RIM allocates IP addresses dynamically so it might be that the one I seem to have been assigned for yesterday and today is the same. Will this change at some point to a non blacklisted IP address? Is it likely to keep happening on a more or less random basis? Can RIM ensure that it won't occur in the future?

  • Mac email servers blacklisted

I am having trouble sending email from my mac.com address to my work address. The emails were found by my IT support desk and they were rejected as having come from blacklisted servers that belong to apple. The servers involved are:
    17.148.16.98
    17.148.16.99
    17.148.16.100
    17.148.16.102
    17.148.16.105
They are blacklisted at LASHBACK and SORBS-SPAM plus one or two others.
Is this something that Apple works to resolve?

So I am seeing the Blacklist problem now as well. Seems several Blacklist lists are now listing some (not all) of Apple's email servers as having issues, and as such, some people I email to are not getting my email, and it bounces.
    For example:
    blacklist:17.148.16.104 and blacklist:17.148.16.105
    SORBS-SPAM LISTED
    LASHBACK LISTED
    Backscatterer.org LISTED
    Yes, these do not:
    17.148.16.98
    17.148.16.99
    17.148.16.100
    17.148.16.102
Is there a way I can choose which server I use?
Seems odd that someone would list Apple email, but that is the case.
This is what backscatterer.org claims about some Apple servers:
    Testresult for 17.148.16.104:
This IP IS CURRENTLY LISTED in our Database.
Please note that this listing does not mean you are a spammer, it means your mailsystem is either poorly configured or it is using abusive techniques.
This kind of abuse is known as BACKSCATTER (Misdirected Bounces or Misdirected Autoresponders or Sender Callouts). Click the links above to get clue how and why to stop that kind of abuse.
To track down what happened investigate your smtplogs near 17.12.2010 12:03 CET +/-1 minute.
I wonder if Apple even cares?

  • 2 Essbase Servers On Same UNIX Server

Hi.I installed 2 Essbase Servers on the same UNIX Server. Both Essbase Servers work but that's when I want to point to 2nd Essbase Server for Planning and Business Rules that it's more difficult. In fact, in Essbase Administration Services, I managed to add 2nd Essbase Server indicating port it uses but with Planning and Business Rules the "server_name:port" style entry doesn't match. Planning and Business Rules don't understand these entries.I tried in other manner with a NODENAME in ESSBASE.cfg, but no result either. So, is there anyone who can suggest me something or anyone who managed this case?Best regards.Rzedinho,New HDN Member.

The only way that you can connect to the second server is to use client software that supports providing a port at login. We are doing this, but you have to have the latest versions of reports, planning, etc. If you have these versions of software, then all you have to do to connect is give it a string like: EssbaseServer2:2784

  • ACE 4710 Probes on other servers than the real server

    Hi,
I wanted to know if there is a means to configure a probe that is independent of the real servers.
The aim is to configure a probe a real server but also probe another intermediate server which is not in the server farm.
The objective is to declare the real server down if its probe fails but also the probe to an intermediate server fails as well as a or condition.
From the document, there is no mention of it.
But is there a means to do it.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ashley,
i see it is not mentioned anywhere in document but i think ou should be able to bind two probes with real server of which one probe is actually probing another server.
I would configure one probe let's say TCP based and bind it with serverfarm. Then i would configure another probe TCP based and define IP address in that probe (the other server IP which we need to probe) and bind this probe with same serverfarm. Serverfarm will not have this rserver added. And then i would configure "fail-on-all" and test if that works for you.
i know you can set probe on redirect server/serverfarm which actually probes another real server so logically should work for normal host rserver as well. But i have never tested it myself.

  • Exchange Recon with multiple Servers & Message Stores per Server

I am trying to think through the best way to write a single reconciliation task for an environment that has 3 Exchange Servers with 3 storage groups per server and 3 mailbox stores per storage group. That's 27 mailbox stores and I don't want to have 27 schedules tasks for reconciliation.
    Any thoughts?
    KC

All the servers are in a single domain.
The issues is the default scheduled task requires an exchange server and ad server parameter. The mailboxes not on the server specified show as "Users Matched" instead of "Event Linked" the reconciliation process.
Our Reconciliation Rule is "User Login equals sAMAcountName", but the mailboxes still don't match correctly. I originally thought this rule would work regardless of the exchange server(s) involved, but it does not seem to be the case.

  • Managed Servers vs. Admin Server - heap sizes

I have a question. I opened a support ticket with BEA yesterday, the technician got back to me and completely confused the hell out of me.
We're looking to upgrade to WLS10 with an admin server/managed server design. I was under the impression that each server instance, when fired up, starts up in its own JVM with its own memory allocations. If I set the admin server startup script to have a min and max of 1024, the managed server starts up with the same memory settings. The technician I spoke with yesterday from BEA support to clarify this then explains to me that each server instance, admin and managed, do not exist in their own JVMs but that they share the same JVM. I found verbage in the documentation that says the complete opposite...that one server instance can only exist in one JVM...SO if I have the admin server with 1024 and the managed server with 1024 and the machine only has 2 gigs, that's pretty much all I can have running on this machine, right?
The thing I don't understand at all is why would I want the admin server and my application on the managed server to use the same amount of ram? My managed server should have way more ram available to it than the admin server which is rarely used throughout the day. Is there a way to set the admin server to 512 and then fire up the managed server with a gig and a half?
I would think it makes more sense that you specify a different heap size for the admin versus the managed...but maybe not. What is the recommended heap size for the admin server? Is it strictly recommended to let them all use the same heap size settings? Can someone explain why I'd want the admin server to have access to the same amount my heavyweight, client-hit-all-day-long application?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    rlb

Thanks David. As God as my witness, the tech seriously told me that they all use the same JVM. Then I got seriously confused, like I was an idiot and didn't understand what a JVM was and I started second-guessing myself. The whole conversation was very strange and yes, there was definitely a language barrier and I'm guessing I just wasn't being clear enough...I don't know...all I know is I walked away from the phone call in worse shape then when I first opened the ticket.
At any rate, do you have recommendations for admin server ram? I know there are performance tuning tools to help us figure out the optimum settings for our managed server, and I plan on implementing them...but going back to the ram for the Admin server, versus managed server...is there a recommended way of specifying different heap size for the managed servers? Is the recommended way to set the the -Xms and -Xmx settings via the 'Arguments' field on Environment > Servers > serverName > Configuration > Server Start tab via the admin console?
Thanks again for your quick reply!
    Cheers,

  • How to view all user_source on others servers from one admin server?

    Hello. Thank you for helping.
I am not able to view the source for other schemas locally or on remote servers, depending on the user logged, only for that schema, or something like that.
I use this command to view the source of a procedure:
    select line, text
    from user_source
    where type='PROCEDURE'
    and name='MY_PROC1'
    order by line;
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source...
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source@dblink1...
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Okay, the DDL method is not going to work. Let me go back to my original question:
I use this command to view the source of a procedure, but I still cannot select source from a remote server across a dblink. How do I specify the remote schema with the user_source?
    select line, text
    from user_source
    where type='PROCEDURE'
    and name='MY_PROC1'
    order by line;
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source...
    or this:
    ...from sys.user_source@dblink1...

  • Blackberry Bridge: Error: Couldn' connect to server

    Blackberry Playbook:  1.0.6.2390
    BB Torch V 6.0 Bundle 695 (c6.0.0.246 Plattform 6.4.0.105)
    newes BB-Bridge SW 1.0.0.93
New Mails are shown on the upper left corner (number, letter icon, and drop-down with sender and subject)
When selecting Messages: A browser window comes up saying: Error: Couldn't connect to server
All BB-Bridge Applications (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, BBM, ) bring up the same error
Brigde-Browser, Bridge-Files do not show any reaction...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I tried two re-installs, but still same problem. On the home screen I can see that new emails are coming in, but when I try to open email client, calender or any other bridge application, I always receive the Error: Couldn' connect to server message.
Also, it seems that if I want to use Internet on the go via my BlackBerry phone, I now must use my Blackberry as a modem. In the previous release I simply connected via Bluetooth Bridge and was ready to go.
Can somebody pleae explain why this has changed?

  • WSA S160 Support for Terminal Servers (How are terminal server connections handled?)

We have a terminal server environment with a mixture of computers and laptops. Currently we have multiple proxy servers and would like to considate down to one. Our current solution does not work well in a terminal server environment. We are looking for a way to integrate all equipment with one soluton and I was curious as to how the S160 handled users connecting via a terminal server.

Edadios thanks for the response. I was reading over this document (see attached), and it looks to me like the connection would be tracked via a cookie surrogate. My bigger concern is that we are looking to be able to track usage per user even though they are on a terminal server. Our current solution (Barracuda) is not able to perform this function. I am hoping to have a S160 on site this week to do some testing but was hoping to gather some intel in the forums prior to implementation.
The response helps clear up what protocols are in use but I am still wondering how terminal server connections are handled by the WSA and if they are truly handled and tracked per user instead of by the device they are connecing to.

  • Can Web Servers Share a ColdFusion Server?

I am looking for a way to run our Apache webserver on our
AS400 but keep our ColdFusion sites. The only way I can think to
accompish this is to redirect any sites that run ColdFusion to
another web server. Is there an easier way of doing this?I am also
thinking I can save on ColdFusion licensing fees by having one
ColdFusion server and have our other web servers redirect
ColdFusion sites to one Server. Is this even possible?

I cannot speak for AS400 but we have shared one coldfusionmx
6.1 server (using JRUN4) among multiple Netscape Enterprise Server
web servers. If the connector works for apache on AS400 you should
    be good to go.

I keep all of them running while trying everything, but always getting an Status: NO PIN in the Desktop Redirector window? I have the following Q’s please..
1-      Is there is any S/W that I should install on our server? If so, it means it’s OVER for me and it’s BAD LUCK.
2-      Why I can’t get my work email although of following the same procedures described in the installation guide?
