BlackBerry OS6: Repeating Calendar Events Broken?

Hi everyone,
I have been experiencing the strangest issue when trying to add a calendar event in BlackBerry OS6, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to work around this issue.
Basically, the problem happens when trying to book a repeating event at a time where the current GMT time differs from the current local time. For example, I am trying to book an event that happens every week at 10 pm edt on a tuesday, but BlackBerry 6 ends up booking the event every week at 10 pm EDT the Wednesday instead, presumably because the GMT date does indeed occur on the Wednesday. When I tried to set it to repeat on the Tuesday, it ended up repeating on both the Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving me out of further options.
Has anyone experienced this issue, and if so, are there any good work-arounds My current solution is to have my event say it is on Monday so that it books on Tuesday, but this is undesirable because it is displaying Monday when you view the event series.

Hi Kim,
Good question. That .plist file is just a place where iCal keeps track of your preference settings. Sometimes that file gets corrupted and cause all sorts of strange behavior. Deleting the preferences is just a first thing to try when experiencing strange behavior. In iCal, resetting the preferences isn't a big deal. In some programs there are many layers of preferences so you might want to think twice before deleting, or at least write down all the preferences before doing so.
Whether or not you need to delete depends on your problem (assuming you're having one). Are you? If so you might want to describe the problem here but it won't hurt to delete the preferences; you'll just need to reset them if you want anything set other than the default (eg I have time Zone support checked).

  • Why would a repeating Calendar event display on both my Macs and my iPhone, but not on my iPad?

I have accepted a repeating Calendar event invitation. It displays on both my office and home Macs and on my iPhone, but it doesn't show up on my iPad. I've checked to ensure that the proper Calendar is displaying on the iPad, and all of my other events seem to be displaying just fine. I'm stumped by this one!

Welcome to the Support Communities. The answer is that Adobe's Flash Player is an unsupported product on mobile devices such as iPad. In Adobe's own words:

Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

  • Is there a way to sequentially number repeating calendar events

Is there a way to sequentially number repeating calendar events?
For example: I have fitness training 3x a week, every Tue, Thu & Sat. I  set it up as a repeating event in calendar, but would like it to nimber each event. o if I looked at the last day on the calendar, there would have been noted somewhere that this was occurence #12 Currently, I would have to go ahead into each event & edit in what # it was. Any help or suggestions  would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't believe that there any automatic way to do this in the Calendar App.

  • Is it possible to set up repeating calendar events by day rather than date?

I attend several classic motorcycle shows and car shows locally. Some occur every first Wednesday of the month, some occur on the last Saturday of every month, and some are on the third Thursday of every month. Entering them every month is slow and I would like to see if there's a way of programming repeating events like this by the day of the week. Right now, if I select to repeat, let's say, a bike show that is coming up on Wednesday the 6th, I can't set it to occur every first Wednesday of the month, only on the 6th of every month, but of course, the first Wednesday of every month is not always the 6th of the month. I am hoping the fuzzy logic programming to do this is already here. (fingers crossed)

Found a workaround...in the desktop calendar app you can do this, it just means waiting until you get home to make the event repeat on certain days of a certain week of the month. So for now, I can enter events in the phone as I find out about them when I am out of the house, and when I get home and sync the phone i can then make the event repeat as I want. It's a bit of a pain, but at least it will work.
UNLESS the event occurs on the FIFTH such day in a month. Calendar only supports custom events for FOUR weeks.

  • Create repeating calendar event on first Monday

Just tried to create a event on my iPad which will be repeated on the first Monday of each month…but didn't see that as an option. How do you do that (seems like a standard thing)?

Ask Siri to do it for you. That's the only way to create such repeating events on the iPad itself.

  • Repeating Calendar events & Extreme slow Syncing in Itunes

Every since I have upgraded to Lion, I have been getting multiple entries on my iphone from Ical on my mac.  For example if I have an event scheduled for tomorrow on my mac and move it one hour up or back, I will get 3-4 entries on my iphone when I sync.  I sync through Itunes and have already tried replacing the iphone events with the mac.  This has not worked.   Additionally syncing between my mac and iphone takes a little over 13 minutes each time.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Prior to Lion sycning took under 3 minutes and no duplicates.  Would appreicate any help someone might could give me on this problem.

This link provides the data included with your iPhone's backup, which includes photos and/or video in your iPhone's Camera Roll, contact info, various iPhone settings, recent calls, call favorites, SMS/MMS, Safari history/cache/cookies, email account settings, wi-fi network settings, 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.

Something may be wrong with your backup or with some of the data included with the backup since it shouldn't take 12 hours or anywhere close to that. My iPhone's backup takes well less than 5 minutes. You can delete the existing backup and create a new backup to see if this makes any difference. An initial new backup will take longer that succeeding backups.

  • Some Calendar events can't be deleted

I have several repeating calendar events that I created in my home calendar (icloud) which can't be deleted. Under event details the "edit" and the "delete event" is missing. I can't delete or modify these events at all. Dragging and dropping the event doesn't work either. The cloud is syncing fine as both my iphone and ipad have all the same events with the same issue.

I am having the same issue.  I created a repeating event and invited others to it.  It won't let me edit it, nor delete it.  I changed my status to "Decline" and it disappears; however, as soon as I try to exit the event window, everything shows back up and my status reverts to "Accepted."  The only two buttons I have access to is "Revert" and "Reply."  Both end up with the same results - event still shows up and I am still in an "Accepted" status.
I tried editing the original entry as well as follow-on events (later in the repeating cycle).  I cannot edit anything other than my status, which doesn't change in the end.
I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a 6-core Mac Pro.  This issue also occurred within Lion (10.7.x).
It also does the same thing on my iPhone - I decline the event, it disappears, but then pops back up a few seconds later.
I am using an iPhone 4 using iOS 5.1.1
Any ideas on how to delete (or even modify times, dates, locations, etc.)?

  • How can I stop Exchange calendar event copies appearing in drafts?

I use Outlook 2010 on a Windows machine at work. On my MacBook I use Outlook 2011 and have the Exchange calendar configured for iCal. Sync'ing works fine, except this one annoyance.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion copies of existing, repeating calendar events keep appearing in my Outlook drafts folder. Every few days I have to empty it, sometimes from 50 event copies or more.

I too, was experiencing this. There seems to be no indication of a solution anywhere on the web. HOWEVER, I figured it out.
Here's the solution: Strangely, it's not really an exchange issue, but rather an issue with calendaring on the OSX side.
So you understand, here's the configuration that can cause problems:
you are using an exchange server to connect your email/calendar/notes/tasks...
You use a PC (or VM PC) for some/most of your exchange/outlook activities
You may or may not have MS Office 2011 (Mac) installed.
You have one or more Apple devices connected to your exchange account (iPhone, iPad, any Mac)
After installing Mountain lion, you start noticing events being magically duplicated every few minutes in your outlook draft folder. If you delete an event, another one takes its place.
    HERE IS THE FIX:
Short answer: Sync all calendars on all devices
On the apple side (OSX, IOS) you MUST turn on calendar sync in all the exchange accounts on all your devices. I thought I had, then discovered that my MS Office Outlook on my Mac was missing that sync. It doesn't seem to matter which apple device is missing the sync, it only takes one of them. Once you set calendar sync to "on" for all the apple devices that access that calendar, just like magic, the phantom multi event creation stops.
You should check all MS products on the OSX/IOS devices AND all apple devices that allow syncing. I haven't turned on notes sync through the cloud, so that isn't one of the items that cause problems.
If you do this and the multi still appears, you missed something on one of your apple devices.
    Sweet!

  • Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Bug: Repeating Google Calendar Events Show Up On The Wrong Days

I've created a Google Calendar event that repeats "Daily," every two days, from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. It shows up fine in my Google Calendar, but the Pre's Calendar puts them on the wrong days. For example, the repeating event that should be scheduled for today shows up tomorrow (offset by +1 day).
I tried turning off network timezones, but the bug remains.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is a bug, how can I submit it to Palm?
    Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)
    Some new data:
If I create the repeating event on my Pre, rather than via Google, it shows up on the Pre correctly. However, it only shows up for one day via Google (today); the event is not repeated. When I edit the event in Google, it's setup correctly. I tried saving the event from there, but it doesn't cause Google to recognize it should repeat.
    Very frustrating.
    Even more new data:
Created yet another event via my Pre instead of via Google. This time Google picked up the correct repeat pattern, and my Pre now shows it on the correct days.
Calendar sync needs serious work, based on my experience. I have issues with Facebook events showing up an hour later than they should, too. Dunno if this has been fixed yet.
    New Data (01/28/2010)
Not sure why, but the above success reverted back to being off by one day; temporary success only.

Hi, another quick question: you say you turned off network timezones.... did you make sure that the (now manually set) timezone is correct?
Sounds similar to other issues related to the timezone being off, but usually the appointments were off by hours... not day(s).  However if your timezone is set to something really odd and the event you're creating is around midnight (again depends on a few things here), then MAYBE this is it.
If it isn't, one of the support guys will have to chat with you privately about possibly collecting logs, getting more granular details, etc.

  • I added a calendar event to repeat every two weeks, but it repeats every day.

I've added a calendar event to repeat every two weeks, but it repeats every day.  The original event was set up for all Day on Wednesday, Nov 5.  Setting up for a single  day worked fine.  Add the repeat option and select every two weeks...and it shows up every day until the end date.  I've re-booted the phone and tried other start dates.  Same result.  This is in the base iPhone calendar.  No other calendars have been installed.   iPhone 6  iOS 8.0.2.  Any suggestions?

    Found a workaround:
Just change each attribute 1 item at a time.
Create the calendar entry for one day only with no other settings.
Go back in and edit it so that its every two weeks, then leave and confirm this worked.
Open calendar back up and add in the end date.
That's the only way I could get it to accept those settings, one attribute at a time.
Misc. bug I suppose.  I miss the "It just works" days.  Living in silicon valley, the QA engineering buds I have at apple go on rants about the undisclosed/undiscovered but known bugs in ios every time we're having drinks.  From what I hear, internally IOS8/8.1 weren't ready for prime time push just yet.
