Blackberry Passport drop test

As you know there is a few videos of Blackberry Passport extrreme drop tests on youtube. Where the phone didn't get any damage.

So the question is: is it OK to drop the Blackberry Passport face down to show it's durrability to your friends, and the phone always be just fine?
Or this drop test videos is just a good luck and not a mandatory future of the phone?
Is the any experience, tests or suggestions?
I'm kinda scary to try it...

Obiviously the more hight, the more probability of damage. But it would be intersting to know what maximum hight is safe for 99% of Blackberry Passports to drop face down.
P.S. As I found on other forums, some have damaged the glass when droped on the corner, not on the face...
Corner drops of many phones will break the screen.
I would not consider any drop safe as it could bounce and land on a corner after.
But this does have Gorilla Glass and is tougher than regular glass.

Blackberry Passport Display

Hello to all,
I have since two weeks the greatful Blackberry passport.
But now I have an angry problem.
When I call somebody or somebody calls me, after a few seconds, the display becomes dark and I have problems, to finish the call, because I see nothing.
When I am in luck, the display lights, when the other side finished the call.
The most problem is, when its ringing by the other side for a while, the display becomes dark, and I cannot finish the ringing.
I must switch it off with the main switch on the top
I have done alle the test, which are possible , all all were okay.
Does anybody else has this problem?
And what can I do, to stop it.
I have the actually Software10.3.0.908

How do I install itunes.exe on blackberry passport? I've downloaded file but it will not open.

I'm trying to download an app that's only available on iTunes. I've downloaded iTunes.exe but it will not open on Blackberry passport. Is there a specific .exe version that I need to download?

You can't. iTunes itself runs on Windows PCs or Macs. Any apps available from the iTunes Store will only run on iPhones or iPads.

Blackberry Passport sim tray issue is prevalent and they will not fix it for you because it is your fault. Ridiculous.

I bought my Blackberry passport on Feb 13rd. Right out of the box the sim tray didn't read the sim. I thought it is my sim's problem, so I waited for another sim. New sim came in, still didn't read. After a long call with customer support and BB virtual support, I had my device sent in around mid March. They checked it and said I damaged the sim tray and I need to pay 268$ to have it fixed. I though it is ridiculous since I haven't done anything to the phone. So I argued with them and eventually they agreed to have my fixed without cost.
However when they sent me back the device, I poped in the sim and it only works for 1 day, on and off the second day and then not reading the sim at all after that. I think the sim tray's problem with the passport is prevalent and the pin can be broken by the simple act of poping in the sim card. My ATT sim is working perfectly fine on the 5s and my brother's iphone 6.
After 2 days of receiving the "repaired" device, I call them again and this time they said it is certainly my fault and if I send it in again, I will have to pay 268$ to have it fixed.
So I thought for people out ther if you have a passport, don't pop in and out the sim card. It can really easily be broken.
For me, I think now I just gonna use my "broken sim tray new passport" as a reading device. After 10 years, I will officially switch to other brand. Still love the keyboard though, but anyway.

Check that your sim card does not have a burr or edge on it before you insert it, as that may be what's damaging the SIM pins.
Site anly allow linlks to web images, so here's what the tray is supposed to look like - with the SIM cover on.
FWIW - a T3 torx driver is required to remove the screws around the SIM and TF card tray cover. That would allow you to look at the underlying pins - and possibly - with a bit of luck, fix them on your own.

How frame drop test is executed using PQA in TestStand ?

Can someone shed some light on the frame drop test which is executed using PQA in TestStand ? Also, what is the use of reference stream and trigger in the frame drop test ?
According to the manual, the Dropped Frame processor computes the difference in pixels between consecutive frames. So, in this scenario, how does the processor compare the framedrop of the test stream with reference stream (if any).

The Dropped Frames processor returns a metric that is the average of the absolute difference between each pixel in a frame compared to its following frame. Depending on scene transitions or a known video playback performance, you can use this processor to determine if you are missing frames. For example, imagine two 3x3 images

2 2 2     &    1 1 1
2 2 2           1 1 1
The average difference between these frames is 1. A media reference stream is not used with this processor when it runs. However, and I always recommend doing this for unreferenced tests, a data reference can be created from a reference stream to compare with future tests results. The data reference is a calcuated set of metrics that corresponds with a given PQA acquisition/processes or a set thereof.
Here is the process I would take for unreferenced tests.
Take a reference video that you know plays back properly.
Set that you wish to create a data reference, acquire that video/audio stream and perform and activate the desired processors.
Now, select that you would like to use that data reference for future acquisitions.
Perform new acquisitions using the same processors and observe the new results stream
You will see your results stream now centred at zero according to the following calculation (Test Results - Reference Results) / Reference Results [Relative Difference]
If you see any major deviations, this is a probably cause for a concern, in our case, for dropped frames

Can i get a new BlackBerry passport AT&T ?

Hello, I was Zarah, from Hong Kong, the family members are young lawyers and civil servants. I work in a hospital operating room.
From a doctor in the hands, recognizing BlackBerry Q10, since then, I've been looking to get and watch things about the BlackBerry until blackberry passport AT & T's appearance, this is how perfect machine, in security and confidentiality, shape, size, both perfect. Simply can not wait to get it, so I asked my friends to go to the US AT & T to buy a brand new BlackBerry passport, in this process, I simply can not expect to sleep.
Unfortunately, even if I am willing to pay for immediate expenses and no annual contract and the remaining two months of the monthly fee payable to get a brand new and unlocked Blackberry passport AT & T. My friend to help me, the past few days in different places all over the United States, the clerk encountered in AT & T stores are not friendly and not active assistance, or even in the NEW YORK NEW JERSERY alike ... Why is this so? They hate people buy blackberry it?
Even equally in Hong Kong and sales direction and strength significantly substandard.
Really feel very sad, friends say there is no way, told me to stay away from the BlackBerry. Family members disagreed, why bother to get this phone?
In fact, I really hope to be able to help my blackberry to solve this problem, because I really love this BlackBerry, and to the people around the promotion of BlackBerry.

The best thing is to purchase it online from AT&T or purchase in store and have it shipped. The stores probably don't stock them.
Even if you get one you'll need to pay to get it unlocked, too.

BlackBerry Passport won't get past 100%

Hello,
Yesterday I tried opening an e-mail on my BlackBerry Passport - the screen faded to a darker colour (as if it was going to open it), then returned to the hub. I tried to open it again and the same thing happened.
I refreshed the hub by swiping 5 times from the top right to the centre of the phone - I was still unable to open the e-mail, or any other e-mails I had read in the past.
I then restarted my phone, however when it was rebooting, here's what happens:
It displays the BlackBerry logo
It shows the 'loading' screen (BB logo and the square loading bar around the logo)
It gets to 100%, and that's it... nothing further happens
Occasionally, it automatically restarts the cycle, displays the logo and then begins loading to 100% again. It stays on 100% for hours, the phone gets extremely hot then this morning the battery had died on it.
I plugged in the charger, then minutes later the cycle started again.
I have tried powering off & on, holding both of the volume buttons and loads of other combinations, but the same issue persists. Interestingly, the phone doesn't seem able to actually fully power off. If I hold the power button down for 10 seconds, the screen goes black, a red light shows for around 2-3 seconds, and the restart process begins again. This happens regardless of how I shut the device down.
Ordinarilly I'd take the battery out of my Q10 if something like this happened and put it back in - obviously this isn't an option with the Passport.
Is there anything I can do? I tried to wipe it from Link, but it doesn't recognize the device is plugged in via USB.
This is literally 2 weeks old and I'm extremely frustrated that this is happening to such a new and 'necessary' device.

Yea, I would be frustrated also.
1. You can return the device for a warranty replacement.
2. Try connecting to Link via a different USB port on your PC, or use a different PC with Link installed.
You might try also making the connection to Link while the device is rebooting.
I agree, a new device shouldn't have these issues.

Blackberry Passport with Blackberry Presenter

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if the Blackberry Passport (which I currently own) or any other BB10 smart phone could be used with the Blackberry Presenter. The Blackberry Presenter manual does specify that it could be used with OS 4.6 and later, and it works fine with my Bold 9900, but I just sold it to buy the Passport. Any suggestions?

Blackberry Passport Ordered Oct 3 (VIP) - Submitted, Confirmed, Charged - No shipping info

Hey not sure if i am the only one but i don't think I am. Anyways be nice if someone could clarify or provide me with some information.
Ordered Oct 3rd, Blackberry Passport from the VIP page
Oct 4th, Order Confirmation
Oct 6, Payment on CC is charged and went to DR
Now the thing is..its Oct 17th and I haven't heard a single thing about my order. On findmyorder, it shows "Order Complete"
Attempts to Contact DR failed..then I have read on crackberry and here that people who ordered Oct 4, 5, 6 and so on have already received their passports.
Anyone have this issue too or any information to provide?
Doesn't make sense..considering those people who ordered after me live in the same area as myself so the regional area is not the problem..

Is Vodafone UK going to stock the Blackberry Passport for pay monthly upgrades? not just for business but for personal/regular users?

I was just wondering if there was any news about the Blackberry Passport being available to regular/personal contract holders on Vodafone UK.
I have seen it mentioned that it will be stocked for business users but theres no news about anyone else.
Please could someone give me a definitive answer as i would like to upgrade my Z10 for the Passport

SmartWatch 2 - Is not pairing with blackberry passport

Hi dears,
Got my blackberry passport with an offer in which i got a sony smartwatch 2.
Tried to pair these two but failed so many times...
Can anyone help me out how to pair these two... if its possible or it is not at all possible...

Simple, the SmartWatch 2 it's only compatible with Android devices, running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and later.

Blackberry Passport Unlocked version

I am having difficulty finding details regarding the compatability of the unlocked version of the Passport with international carriers. The phone would be home based with ATT in the U.S. but would need to work in most places in Europe and Africa. We have used many different previous models of Blackberry successfully when traveling and just want tio confirm this model would work as well.
Does the unlocked version have dual sim slots?
We tried to find a phone number for pre sales questions but have been unable to. We've always bought directly from a salesman before but apparently have to order on the web for this model?

The BlackBerry Passport is single-sim only and supports the following network bands.
FD-LTE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20 (2100/1900/1800/1700/850/2600/900/700/700/800 MHz)
HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, 8 (2100/1900/1700/850/900 MHz)
Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
To ensure 100% compatability, I'd recommend contacting the service provider you'd like to use with the BlackBerry Passport. For more details on specifications check out the BlackBerry Passport website located here.

IPhone 5, beats S3 in drop test

Dont think I'll be running a case on my iPhone 5. The i5 survived a very realistic drop test with minimal damage, while the Galaxy s 3 shattered.

The funny thing this is from a fandroid site, you can almost feel the pain and disbelief in the guy in the videos face.

No, that should not happen. If all you did was a backup, or even a sync, the photos are not indexed as being imported. Many times I will decide not to import pictures on the phone if there are only a couple and I want them for some other reason. I will just close out the import utility and then sync the phone. I sync my phone daily, and if those pictures are still on the phone, then it will still start the import utility again the next time I connect the phone.
However, as a after thought, why not just try a screen shot, the content doesn't matter, then connect the phone and see if that will get it recognized.

Match/Drag & Drop Test questions

Just did my first Captivate thing... cool!
Noticed when using the Match Test with Drag & Drop...
1 - A little box shows up on the left that caused some
confusion... When you drag & drop it will populate itself with
the 'letter' of the choice the user made... BUT... the user can
also type the letter into the little box.
In our case the answers in the right hand column were numbers
like 6, 3, 9, 2, etc
So the user typed in the answer (like the number 6)... and
even though that was correct Captivate saw it as incorrect as it
was looking for the 'letter' of the answer in the right hand
column.
THE QUESTION: Can we hide that little box that appears by
each item in the left column of the Match Drag & Drop test?
2 - Captivate seems to shuffle the left column... any way to
make it shuffle the right column?
3 - Instead of entering text in the left column (or
alternately the right column) we want to show a graphic by each
choice... but when the user trys to drag and drop the graphic
Captivate doesn't see it... How have you guys handled using
graphics for one column or the other in the match drag & drop
test ?
4 - We added a text caption box to the Match test creen but
with only one line of 10 point type. Captivate wouldn't let us
adjust the height of the text frame to slightly larger than the
height of the text... even though we told it OK to adjust height
w/o adjusting width in the properties. Captivate seems to want to
maintain the height of the text caption frame to about 1/2 inch on
my screen... even if we use very small type. Any way to fix this as
we are running out of real estate on a few screens.

You might have better luck configuring your Matching to use
Drop-Downs for your user to select the match. To do this, edit the
question and in the lower left corner of the dialog, click the
drop-down and choose "Drop Down List". I'm thinking this could
avoid some of the confusion.
As for the images, you have already stated the answer. The
images may be present, but cannot be dragged to establish the
match. The shuffling is occurring because "Shuffle Answers" is
selected when you click Quiz > Quiz Preferences... > Quiz
node > Settings node.
As for the Text Caption, as you have seen, there is a minimum
height these can have. If you are using the Transparent caption
type, most of it will be invisible anyway, so it shouldn't matter.
After you get the caption positioned on the slide, you may lock it
by clicking the dot in the lock column of the Timeline. If you are
after a certain look for them, you may choose to create your own
Caption type at the size you need.
No need to apologize for asking questions. That's what the
