Blackberry Pearl is running horribly slow/battery is awful!

I have an 8100 and it is running awfully slow. When I take a picture, it takes forever to save the picture (sometimes a few minutes). I'd like to point out that it's NOT because I have apps open; in fact, I don't even use the mobile internet on my phone! (I know, blasphemy.) Sometimes it doesn't even want to switch so I can check my texts. I have tried a hard reset by taking the battery out and putting it back in. It takes forever to turn on and off, and sometimes when my battery is fine (this has happened with it fully charged), my phone will randomly turn off. When I turn it back on, I get the spinning hourglass for quite a while, with a white screen. It didn't used to do this.
Before the hard rest(and deleting all my texts) I had:

My battery says it's at 80% (does that mean 80% charged or 80% battery life?), but I'm lucky to get a few hours of talk time. It started to get bad a few weeks ago- it would go right to low battery all of a sudden and say "battery too low for radio use". Not too long ago, I could talk for at least five minutes on low battery. Now, it will be at 2 bars of battery life and shut off from low battery while I'm in the middle of talking with no warning. Why would my battery percentage change so much just after resetting? It's almost fully charged, if that matters- only used ~10min of talk time since charging it. It's gotten so if there are three bars, I have to charge it so it doesn't shut off on me mid-conversation! It seems strange to me that my battery is going downhill so fast, all of a sudden.

I don't know. I can tell you the following facts:
a defective battery may not be able to deliver a constant current & intensity, making the device unstable. This is extremely rare.
a defective battery will not be able to deliver all the energy it has swallowed during the charge
a defective battery will not be able to swallow as much energy during a charge as when it was brand new
the percentage of the battery indicates the quantity of energy present in the battery
there is no numeric indicator of the health of a battery.

Running really slow

Mac OS X 10.6.8 and photoshop cs5. It’s running horribly slow. Did OS updates according to what we could from the MAC updates, and updated Photoshop from adobe. Any ideas

Sounds like a file backup to a external storage drive and a zero security erase and reinstall of OS X, programs etc are in order, and if that doesn't work a new hard drive then repeat the same procedure.

Hey everyone, I needed to reinstall my OS the other day so I used archive and install because I needed to save Ableton Live files. My problem is that now the computer runs horribly slow. Any application I open takes about 20 seconds to load and I get the rainbow 'wait' wheel constantly. I am hoping all I need to do is repair my permissions but i would like some better advice

How much free disk capacity do you have? You need to maintain a minimum of 15% of total disk capacity as contiguous free space. Check to be sure that everything is in place, then delete the Previous Systems Folder. That should instantly free up a bunch of space.

My phone is running extremely slow and eating the battery

I've been experiencing this problem for the past 3 days and went to my provider today to ask about.
My phone has been running extremely slow, the hour clock thing is forever running, and as a result my phone dies in about 3 to 4 hours with no real use. I was told it was because i need to update my OS but when I came home and plugged it in it says that my phone is up-to-date and there is no OS upgrade available. i bought a replacement battery to see if that was the problem and it is not. this is becoming quite frustrating. it has even gotten to the point of when i lock the phone i cant unlock it over even get the screen to turn on. the only way to turn it on is to pull the battery out and put it back in.
What is wrong with my phone?

Blackberry Pearl Battery Cover Clip Broken

My pearl took a little fall and now the silver battery clip has broken (with the spring coming out and such). Can I buy a replacement clip for the battery cover? Where would I find this?

eBay has TONS of vendors selling these because Blackberry did a VERY POOR engineering job on these.
Just search for "Blackberry Pearl Latch". They SHOULD replace them for free. It's gotten so bad that T-Mobile sales people are dissuading customers from buying Pearls just because they get so many complaints about the broken latches. So, head their advice unlike me. I bought one on eBay. When I saw it I could see why they break so often. It is a tiny, cheaply made and fragile part. I broke the replacement trying to get it installed. So, if anybody tries to replace one themselves be very careful with the 3 tiny little pins on the latch.
Blackberry should be paying for these to be repaired.

Macbook Pro running slow/battery drains when closed

Hi!
I have a Macbook Pro 13-inch, mid-2012 running OS X 10.9. It recently started running extremley slow and the spinning ball pops up all the time when I try to do basically anything, but mostly when I try to do more than one thing at a time. Sometimes it will run normal, but then slow up. The spinning ball also pops up basically everytime that I try to play a video or anything like that. The adobe flash plugin also seems to crash a lot.
Also, when it is closed, it becomes very warm and the battery drains while it is closed. It seems like it doesn't really turn off when it closes.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

I ended up having to take it in. Turned out there was a connection to the hard drive that was loose or something. I took it to a store in my city that specializes in macs so I didn't have to spend a fortune. Otherwise, I had someone else look at it and they said that it could have been from when I updated my computer, that something didn't download properly- which has been an issue in some computers.

Tethering blackberry Pearl 9105 to PC running Windows 7 - error message that " the specified port is not open "

I am trying to tether my Blackberry Pearl to my PC using Blackberry Desktop Manager. The phone is recognised and connected. I choose the Vodaphone Contract connection profile but keep getting a message that "the specified port is not open". The RIM virtual modem ports used are COM3 and COM4 and my modem is configurred as COM 3 ,
Is there a port conflict with something on my PC ? or something that I can do to force a port open ?

I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!

My Macbook Pro is running really slow and programs keep crashing

I have a 15" MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 Model) that is doing my head in, as it runs really slow most of the times as soon as I open more than one program (especially if I use Excel or Word of course). I ran the EtreCheck and the result is below, hopefully this will help some of you guide me in the right direction?
Most of my memory (over 200GB) is used up by "OTHER", any idea what that could be and how I could easily free up space?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.
When you post the log extract or the crash report, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

For starters the Blackberry software hasn't been updated in forever and is incompatible with Yosemite, remove it per the developers instructions. k9 mac optimizer is malware and must be removed.
What is all of the Motorola software for? Do you need it? You have quite a bit of other junk on there that you probably don't need and I'm not sure what all of it is for but the BB software and K9 for sure is in the list of known offenders for slow downs.

Blackberry Pearl- Why it's the worst phone ever made

Here's why I think the Blackberry Pearl is the worst phone ever made.
1. I can't get photo's off of it. My G1 takes a few seconds. I've worked with this Pear for hours upon hours cannot get my photo's off of it. The Desktop manager really bites too no help there. I really dislike this phone. The software just as bad. I guess they were on the move when Desktop manager was getting written.
2. The phone on occasions would lock on letters instead of numbers. There wasn't an intuitive way to get it unlocked. I found it more intuitive to get a my return from the IRS than it was to get the phone back to dialing numbers.
I'm having my kids dress up as a Blackberry Pearl for Halloween. I'm going to make a Halloween Movie Freddy Kruger attacks people with Blackberry Pearl the topper scene features unsuspecting Pearl user getting tied up and has them attempt to copy their photos off to a PC and the video gets put on Youtube for Christmas.

I want to join the fun here and list all the different reasons why I'm very unsatisfied with this phone.
The actual phone part of this phone is pretty slow. It accepts a phone number almost 3 times slower than I can type it in. Even typing a name on their handy search bar takes forever to get a result. If I type to fast, it just ignores a couple of my numbers so I have to delete and retype, at the same super slow pace. I'm guessing that it searches all sorts of contact and history lists to give me cool suggestions, and that's what makes it so slow. Either way, it irritates me to no end that the basic reason I have this thing is slow as dirt.
All 3rd Party and Blackberry apps require the Blackberry data service. Even though there's WIFI on this phone, you simply can't connect to anything except the Browser (and even the Browser requires some setting changes to bypass the upsell screen). This phone CAN do 3rd party services and other applications without the Blackberry data service, but they just don't allow you to.
Sometimes my phone just turns off. I don't normally mind the 3 minute boot up process, but when I'm in the middle of something and my phone turns off for no reason, it just compounds my frustration.
The keyboard freezes up all the time. After a good 1-5 minute "please wait clock", I finally get a message saying there was an error and my input application had to be reset. Sometimes it doesn't quite reset all the way and I have to pull the battery and again wait for the long boot up process.
Its a little unreliable. Besides the phone turning off at random and the keyboard freezing, I still have problems other problems. My bluetooth turns off and sometimes doesn't come back. Once I had to get a new phone sent to me in order to correct that problem. Pressing buttons doesn't always get a response, especially the green "call" button. If the phone is bogged down, it just ignored commands, which is pretty frustrating especially if you press a button and accidently double enter a command that is both the "on" and "off" options. Also, sometimes the screen fades out (like its suppose to) but doesn't come back when you press keys. Or the external notifications just don't turn on. It somestimes just doesn't read my memory card. The zoom feature on my camera also got stuck.
Other small gripes involve having no caps lock, the SureType never learning from my typing ("Hey" always goes out as "Get"), its overall slowness, the looseness of the back casing, the low quality camera, and so much more.
I don't suggest this phone to anyone.

Running SUPER SLOW

I have a brand new curve 9380 and I will have no APPS open but it still runs SUPER slow when I shut it off the screen and ill try to turn it on it wont turn on no matter how many times or how hard I press it and then a solid 5 minutes later it will turn and and the screen will just go on off like crazy because its running so slow it takes me 10 minutes just to change my BBM picture. Please help.

There may be no Apps open but there are apps that can run in the background. Please check the apps installed in your phone.

Problem with Blackberry Pearl 8130

My girlfriend has the Pink Blackberry Pearl 8130 from Verizon Wireless. She has had the phone for about 4 months and occasionally we have noticed that when she recieves text messages or voicemails the phone will make the alert tone and you see the arrows recieving, once thats done the messages disappear from the phone. When you click on the inbox there is nothing there for text messages. We were just wondering if anyone else with this Blackberry Pearl from Verizon has had any problem like this?

I guess you did say that her VM's are disappearing too. She's probably running out of memory. Try a hard reset (removing the battery). When you do that it should boost the memory a little bit. It's good to complete a hard reset as much as possible. I try to do it at least once a day.
