Blackberry Pearl Micro SD Card Capability

Is there an application that will enable a user to download and display pdf files on an installed  micro sd card within the Blackberry Pearl?  I know that mp3 and jpg files can be stored and displayed, but I want to do the same thing with pdf files

Without any additional software you can view compatible files that are saved on your SD card. Go into the Application Menu, Media and then press the application button (the one next to the green answer button) again - there should be an option to 'Explore'. You can then navigate through the directory structure of the SD card and open your PDF file
You can view locally saved .html files in this way as well.
Update: - you mentioned that you wanted to save to the SD card as well. Make sure Mass Storage Mode is enabled:
Options/Advanced Options/Media Card - turn on Mass Storage Mode Support (you can also turn on the 'Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected' option so that the SD card appears as a removable drive when you connect it to your PC using the USB cable).
On a Windows PC, the SD card will appear as a removable drive after you have entered your password on the BB. You can then copy/delete files to/from the SD card.

  • Micro SD card from BlackBerry to Xperia z1

Hi.  I got an Xperia device and am trying to migrate the data from my old phone (BlackBerry) to my new phone.
Could someone tell me what is going to happen if the micro SD card from the blackberry device with data such as as photos are inserted to the new Xperia device? Can we still keep all the data from BlackBerry and can we use this micro SD card with the new Xperia device?....Can we transfer files in this way?......  or all the data from BlackBerry stored in the micro SD card  will be destroyed (like reformatted) when the SD card is inserted to the Xperia device?
Thank you very much for your help in advance,...

There should not be a problem to move the SD card from a BlackBerry to your Xperia phone. All sorts of media should be scanned and shown in your Xperia device.

  • New Curve not recognizing an 8gig micro SDHC card

Hi - I am totally new to the BB and to this forum. Here's my dilemma - I just bought and "installed" an 8gig micro SDHC card last night. The phone does not recorgnize it. First when I went to take video, it told me to install a formatted card. When I try to format, I get the message "Media Card Format Failed". I have tried many times, checked on how it looks in it's spot behind the battery, etc. Everything else seems OK. Any help??
    Thanks much.

What I can deduce from my experience is that one should not buy a SDHC card if you've got a curve 9300 or 9330 phone. Even if the SP tell you the model is compatible with the technology, blackberry specs only mention that SD cards are accepted
    http://worldwide.blackberry.com/blackberrycurve/3G/curve_specifications.jsp
    Hello,
Sorry...but wrong. The only difference between SD and SDHC is the capacity of the card. SD goes up to 2GB (officially...some have labeled themselves SD but go to 4GB). SDHC goes from 4GB to 32GB. HC simply stands for "High Capacity." More information is available in the Wiki:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital
So, while the BB specs may only say "SD", they must include SDHC since they further indicate the capacity of Media Cards that various OS levels support:

  • Types of micro sd card + non english input language

    Hello all,
I consider buying the Blackberry Passport but have a couple of questions. Please consider that I have never owned or tried a Blackberry before. Also it is not possible for me to try it out before buying it as they are not sold where I live.
Which class of micro sd card is supported? I would like to buy the fastest 128 gb available and, as I understand it, that would be a UHS-II class 3. However it seems that this card has some physical changes to it compared the previous versions so I'm not sure it will work on the BB Passport.
The physical keyboard has the disadvantages of not supporting non-english input. Will I be able to input non-english characters anyway? I imagine that they will appear at the top row of virtual keys, but I'm not sure.
    Kind regards
    Peter

    newer os supports exfat format

  • Blackberry Pearl- Why it's the worst phone ever made

Here's why I think the Blackberry Pearl is the worst phone ever made.
    1. I can't get photo's off of it. My G1 takes a few seconds. I've worked with this Pear for hours upon hours cannot get my photo's off of it. The Desktop manager really bites too no help there. I really dislike this phone. The software just as bad. I guess they were on the move when Desktop manager was getting written.
    2. The phone on occasions would lock on letters instead of numbers. There wasn't an intuitive way to get it unlocked. I found it more intuitive to get a my return from the IRS than it was to get the phone back to dialing numbers.
I'm having my kids dress up as a Blackberry Pearl for Halloween. I'm going to make a Halloween Movie Freddy Kruger attacks people with Blackberry Pearl the topper scene features unsuspecting Pearl user getting tied up and has them attempt to copy their photos off to a PC and the video gets put on Youtube for Christmas.
    Very unsatisfied with your product.
    Don Quixote

I want to join the fun here and list all the different reasons why I'm very unsatisfied with this phone.
The actual phone part of this phone is pretty slow.  It accepts a phone number almost 3 times slower than I can type it in.  Even typing a name on their handy search bar takes forever to get a result.  If I type to fast, it just ignores a couple of my numbers so I have to delete and retype, at the same super slow pace.  I'm guessing that it searches all sorts of contact and history lists to give me cool suggestions, and that's what makes it so slow.  Either way, it irritates me to no end that the basic reason I have this thing is slow as dirt.
All 3rd Party and Blackberry apps require the Blackberry data service.  Even though there's WIFI on this phone, you simply can't connect to anything except the Browser (and even the Browser requires some setting changes to bypass the upsell screen).  This phone CAN do 3rd party services and other applications without the Blackberry data service, but they just don't allow you to.
Sometimes my phone just turns off.  I don't normally mind the 3 minute boot up process, but when I'm in the middle of something and my phone turns off for no reason, it just compounds my frustration.
The keyboard freezes up all the time.  After a good 1-5 minute "please wait clock", I finally get a message saying there was an error and my input application had to be reset.  Sometimes it doesn't quite reset all the way and I have to pull the battery and again wait for the long boot up process.
Its a little unreliable.  Besides the phone turning off at random and the keyboard freezing, I still have problems other problems.  My bluetooth turns off and sometimes doesn't come back.  Once I had to get a new phone sent to me in order to correct that problem.  Pressing buttons doesn't always get a response, especially the green "call" button.  If the phone is bogged down, it just ignored commands, which is pretty frustrating especially if you press a button and accidently double enter a command that is both the "on" and "off" options.  Also, sometimes the screen fades out (like its suppose to) but doesn't come back when you press keys.  Or the external notifications just don't turn on.  It somestimes just doesn't read my memory card.  The zoom feature on my camera also got stuck.
Other small gripes involve having no caps lock, the SureType never learning from my typing ("Hey" always goes out as "Get"), its overall slowness, the looseness of the back casing, the low quality camera, and so much more.
I don't suggest this phone to anyone.

  • Issues with 64 GB San Cruz Micro SD Card

    Hello:
About three months ago, after I got my Z30 I had to change my old 64 GB micro SD card to a new one since it got corrupted somehow, even though it worked fine for a year on my Z10.
My new one was formatted on my my phone and the new OS update had no problem formatting it so it could be useable.
Now, my phone won't even read the card file.  The card isn't corrupt.  I can access all my pictures, videos, files and music when I put it into my computer.  I don't want to reformat my card as I don't think that's necessary.  I want help in getting my phone driver or whatever to be able to read this card again without having to buy a new card...
    Any help would be appreciated.

i am wodering if you are copying those over after you format the card and restoring data

  • Battery drains off quickly with micro SD card‎

    Hi ,
My battery drains off quickly with micro SD card. This problem started a few days back when all of a sudden my micro SD card got corrupted while my cell was connected to laptop with the USB cord. It all of a sudden displayed message that there is some issue with the micro SD card and it needs to be formated. Unwillingly i had to format my micros SD card, clearing all my data and then it worked fine for few days and again the same thing happened. When my cell was connected with my laptop, it showed the error message and asked for formating. So i did formating again and now i have stopped connecting my cell with laptop. After battery problem started and battery is draining off in just few hours. I think maximum 5 hours without using cell much.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I'd remove the Media Card, first off, and see how it goes without.

  • Another instance of a corrupt Micro SD card

This problem is somewhat similar to the one described here, but with a 16 GB card rather than an unsupported 64 GB card: Micro SD Card Became Corrupt
    history:
I am using a fast 16 GB card (SanDisk microSDHC 16GB Extreme Pro) which I used with my Android phone for about a year without any problems.
initially I put the card into the Z30 without any formatting and all content showed up fine,
started too see problems the other day
files still showed up in the preview (probably cached), but could not be opened,
    at some point they disappeared
then I deleted the content and formattted the card (actually twice so far), transferred music and photos to the Z30 via BB Link from my PC,
--> same problem showed up the next day all the time
So I have seen data getting corrupted 3 times now.
How likely is it that it's related to the card ?
Besides this issue I am very happy with my Z30: performance, usability and battery are outstanding.

    I have a SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card 30MB/s
    Wife has a 32 gig class 4
    my Q10 has a 32 gig class 2
    My spare Z has 32gig  class 2

  • New micro sd card turn write protected same day

I bought an sd card and formatted it with my blackberry curve 8520 and it formatted. I started copying music t it. After, I tried deleting something i did not want anymore and the card gave me errors. I used my pc and it said the card was write-protected. I had two micro sd cards (8GB) turn write protected for no reason. My internet is connected 24/7 and I use microsoft essential up-to-date so i dont see why my card have to turn write protected. I've tried changing security settings in phone on and off later but its still write protected. I've used every means of formatting from ubunto to windows 7. If I delete files with pc or the phone, it disappears from the screen but come back again. None of the file are corrupted cos they work well but i cant delete nor format anything. What is the problem here..?..

  • A Newbie trying to format a micro sd card....

Hi, I just purchased a 8220 blackberry pearl flip phone on the weekend so far I love it, just have to get used to some of the features but should have the figured out shortly.
My problem is that I am trying to format a micro1G San disk memory card, it can be read on the computer, even tried to format it on the computer and it formated fine, formatted both ways fat 32, and fat with no problems.  I tried to put it in the 8220 and it doesnt recognize it.  I have the media card support on, mass storage mode support on, mode when connected prompted. I do get the screen say 'warning formatting the media card will destroy any data, then i click yes,,starts to say formating disc, and few seconds later it say media card format failed.
    Using ver 4.6.0.174
Could it be that it might need a higher capacity than 1G?
Any help would great be appreciated.
    Erik

capacity should not matter, it is because it has a partition it does not like usually.
If you know how to remove partitions, do that next and then fromat it in the HH.
There are a few wipe utilities too that can do the same

  • Blackberry pearl and curve media file transfer to and from macs

in order to transfer pics and mp3's back and forth from blackberry to the mac, you need to 1st install the latest version of pocket mac with the latest driver update for the macs on the rim website. once installed plug the blackberry via usb and check the blackberry for a message saying to enable mass storage. click yes on the blackberry and the macbook treats it as an external drive. open that drive and you'll see different media type folders and the micro sd card folder if you have one installed. at this point the transfer is simple, all you do is click, drag, and drop. viola! done that easy!!!!

I did everything you wrote below, but the BB never asked if it could be used as a mass storage device. The Mac didn't recognize the BB either. Do I need to have a micro SD card installed in the BB to make this work. Thanks in advance for your help.
