i have a playbook and i hadnt used it in a while i wiped it one day to try togive it to a friend and it wont allow me to update it it says that they cannot activate the tablet

Install BlackBerry Desktop Software: http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
Power off the Playbook.
Open BlackBerry Desktop Software on your computer and with the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see an error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will reload the Playbook OS.
You can also do it with Link software:

Exchange profile parameter problem after system copy of XI server

I'm getting problem after the system copy of XI server. Following is the details. pls help to fix this one:
XQA is the system copy of XDV server. XQA is installed on rx2n1v1 server and XDV is installed on dbcixdv server. Following is weblink of XQA and XDV.
XQA: http://rx2n1v1:57400
XDV: http://dbcixdv:57000
After the system copy of XQA, i changed all xdv related parameters (hostname/port) in visual admin and configtool of XQA server.
Now when i run sxmb_ifr tcode in XQA, it should open the link of XQA server ( http://rx2n1v1:57400). But it open the link of XDV server (http://dbcixdv:57000).
The cause of this problem is the xdv parameter entires (hostname/portnumber of xdv) in exchange profile of XQA server (http://rx2n1v1:57400/exchangeProfile).
Now if i change hostname/portnumber of xdv in XQA server (http://rx2n1v1:57400/exchangeProfile), it also make the same change in XDV server (http://dbcixdv:57000/exchangeProfile).
Both XQA and XDV are in differnet hardware server. I don't understand why making changes of exchangeprofile in XQA also changed the value of exchangeprofile in XDV.
Hope it clarify.
Pls give the solution of this problem.

Service problem after handheld wipe.

I recently got a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 from my aunt after my Sidekick was stolen. She hasn't used it for 9 months already, but all her device memory and her BlackBerry email was still there, so I did a handheld wipe to restart to factory settings. The problem now is that I can't send out emails or text messages, and it wouldn't allow me to sign onto messenger. When I try, the msg "communication error. Please try again or check your settings," comes up. How am I suppose to fix this? And for the part under the time and date, it says "Data connection refused"

You need to contact your carrier and ask them to add a BlackBerry data plan to the plan.

Fix the playbook problem after upgrade to 2.0.0.7971

My problem is can't run the android convert apps.
I think this is cause by some update error. So I go to find some method to reinstall the OS.
And then I find a offline OS 2.0.0.7971 image from here:

Then I reinstall the "sys.android.bar" component by DDPB Installer. After restart the playbook, the android convert apps can run now!!!!
I think this can solve another problem by reinstall the relative component.

yes there are many threads on upgrade via desktop software,
it works even if you never updated your PB
if you have no desktop software installed on your pc, go blackberry.com and downlaod and install the balkack berry desktop software
I repead mlefranc's steps here for your conenience:
1-Connect Playbook to PC USB port.
2-Launch Blackberry desktop
3-Backup everything.
4-On playbook, press Power & Volume - & Volume + util shutdown and red light appears.
5-Playbook will start a reload process.
6-Watch Blackberry desktop. At one point, there will be a window poping up saying it cannot connect, and if you want to upgrade the software. This is what you are looking for. Do reload from this window on desktop.
7-Careful not to remove the USB
8-Follow instructions.

Xperia z1 Problem AFTER system update to latest software 14.3.A.0.681

Hello people, First of all let my just say that I am new into the ''smartphones world'' so please excuse my queries if they proof to be 'obvious' to you! I have carried out a system update to my Xperia Z1 phone yesterday (Android 4.4.2. kitkat, latest available software 14.3.A.0.681). The update seem to have been correctly performed. However I have since encounter the following issues/problems with my phone and do not know how to fix them: 1) First of all my phone will no longer rotate...why is this? Is this related to the update?? Pictures/photos can no longer rotate and also phone screen does no longer rotate! Why is this..? 2) Second the 'Notifications Bar' structure has changed : is this also the result of the update or can I do something in settings to fix it and make it as before? When I scroll dawn the notifications bar, the icons are no longer displayed at the top line but are instead spread underneath BUT this is AFTER I press 'Quick settings'. 3) Battery signal icon has changed completely: no lines included inside icon to show usage but instead usage %age is now displayed. Also, when I charge my phone, there is no icon flashing as before and now lights flashing.. 4) Also when I want to use the phone after it has remained unused for sometime it states 'swipe to unlock' and makes a 'funny' note upon performance of the act: this was not the case before.. Can you please help me with the above? I am freaking out because I am excited with my new phone and would love to make full use of it properly but it is a bit hard for me since I have no clue how to fix issues/problems appearing every now and then since I am new into these things.. I think you have fixed your 1st issue.
2) Yes, Kitkat has changed the Notification Bar structure. Its a bit annoying, but to get around it you can use Widgets - Tools and select the Icon, such as WIFI to be placed on your home screen to avoid multiple clicks. You cant do anything in the settings to make it like before.
3) Battery Signal Icon - Again a Kitkat update has done that. The good thing is that it has enhanced Battery life considerably.
4) I am assuming you are stating about the "sound note" it makes when you swipe in. Thats again a Kitkat feature and you can get rid of it though Sound settings if you dont like it.
Reality is that Kitkat runs very well on Google Nexus 5. Apart from that it has issues on every other Android power Smartphone out there. I also own a Nexus 4 who recently got upgraded to Kitkat and compared it with Nexus 5. Was not impressed to be honest.
As of my upgrade on Z1, I have been facing Volume issues. When I play a video the volume is minimized for some reason. Pause and play again and it goes to Normal. I have to reboot it sometimes to play normally. It also takes ages to connect to my 3G provider, whereas previously it was fast enuf. I hope the next upgrade will fix those issues.

Small problems after system update

I have a couple of problems which appeared after a recent pacman update. A lot of stuff was updated, including the kernel and xorg.
1) Shutdown stalls at "Save system clock".
2) Ctl-Alt-F(1-6) doesn't get me out of X11. Actually, this works sometimes, but usually not.
I could fix these, if I knew where to start. Can anyone help me with some diagnostics? I have a pretty simple setup, no desktop, just ratpoison and the apps I need for work, mail, web.
Can I redo an update, and if so, how? Is there (ever) any point in doing that?

is meaningful only on an ISA machine or an Alpha (which implements enough of ISA to be, roughly speaking,
an ISA machine for hwclock's purposes). For other machines, it has no effect. This option tells hwclock
to use explicit I/O instructions to access the Hardware Clock. Without this option, hwclock will try to use the
/dev/rtc device (which it assumes to be driven by the rtc device driver). If it is unable to open the device (for
read), it will use the explicit I/O instructions anyway.
The rtc device driver was new in Linux Release 2.
So as you can see, directisa is something that SHOULDN'T do anything on your system, but for some reason it is failing. I'm guessing it is very specific to your hardware, though I've never heard of this happening.

Wireless problem after system update

After installing system updates to OS X 10.3, the system stopped connecting to my wireless network. I'm pretty sure the updates were the cause, because I downloaded and installed the updates over the wireless network. The problem is not in the network hardware, because I am posting this thread over the same network from and IBM Thinkpad (that still works on the network).
The iBook can see and connect to the network, but it does not recieve and IP address. Any assistance would be appreciated.

MySQL socket problems after system update

I have been using my new Mac Mini Snow Leopard server as Squeezebox Server for over a month wihtout problems. After a system update this weekend I started to get MySQL socket errors after reboot.

Although I have posted this issue to the Squeezebox forum (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72510) where it primarily belongs to I wanted to hear if anyone maybe had an idea what recent changes in Apple updates could cause this? Maybe someone else has similar MySQL problems with other installations? I am a bit desperate by now so any idea or hint is appreciated.

Here was my solution/workaround for this issue to the rest of us poor fellas that have too fight around with Squeezebox server from time to time:
I setup SBS to use the the standard MySQL installation on Mac OS X SL Server since I could get it to run without problems from Server Admin. Here are the instruction from the SBS Wiki:

However, I had to deviate a bit from that in order to make it work since it seems a bit outdated.
First deviation was necessary for the MySQL access privileges. Notice the extra grant to slimserver@localhost. Don't ask me why but this worked. I do also not know whether both grants would be necessary because I haven't tried it. Feel free to improve it:

There were also slight differences necessary in the preferences setup because MySQL socket location was different from the standard one. Here are my db entries ~/Library/Application Support/Squeezebox/server.prefs:

dbsource: dbi:mysql:database=slimserver;mysql_socket=/var/mysql/mysql.sock
dbusername: slimserver
Notice the extra mysql_socket configuration.

ODS/PSA Problems after System Copy

Hello All....i am a basis admin and am having problems with PSA after performing system copy. I have copied R/3 (source system) ans SCM (source system) and BW (3.5)systems from production into test environment in parrallel. I have performed all required BDLS steps on R/3, SCM, and BW as well as maintenance of RSLOGSYSDEST table. All profiles and ports (we20/we21) have been maintained as well. I have modified and tested all RFC connections and have used RSA1 to restore the source system connections and to activate and replicate. When activating ODS objects, the following error is generated...
There is no PSA for InfoSource 8ZFAP_O01 and souce system PB1CLNT510.
PB1CLNT510 references former production BW logical sys and correct logical sys should be QB1CLNT510. Apparently BDLS has missed a table or I have skipped a step in my post-clone process of BDLS and WE20/21. I am wondering if there is a re-initialization or logical system conversion step i have missed or is anything else i can do to resolve this issue.

Hello Chris,
This InfoSource is related to a DataSource in which the source system is BW system itself (in your case: QB1CLNT510).
Try to first activate the DataSource 8ZFAP_O01 using the standard program (SE38): RS_TRANSTRU_ACTIVATE_ALL in which you should input the source system (QB1CLNT510) and the InfoSource 8ZFAP_O01. If you get a green light in the log that appears after the activation completes in which it says that all the structures have been activated, then all you need is to locate the DataSource in RSA15 and right click -> replicate.
If the log showed you that this DataSource doesn't exist, then you'll need to Activate the source system QB1CLNT510 again.

Myself Source system problem after System Copy

We recently did a system copy (Production -> Dev). After the logical system rename is done, the myself source system is showing up as a External SAP system, in source system tree under SAP instead of BI. I'm not able to restore/activate it. Any inputs on this problem is appreciated.

Problem was with inconsistency in the RSBASIDOC table. Solved by deleting invalid entry and running BDLS again for this specific table.

Problem after system copy

We have taken a copy of our production syatem to our sandpit.
The problem is that everything has gones well (BDLS etc) but in our source systems in RSA1 (BW) it correctly has the technical name of the source system but when right clicking and selecting chnage the rfc destination is incorrect (it is the fake one we created).
You cannot change this field by right clicking and if i try to create a new one then after selecting the source system it says it already exists as the fake one is using it.
The opnly option i seem to ahve is to delete the incorrect one but it asks if i want to delete all psa tables and transfer rules...this seems a bit too much deletion for me.
Is there anyway around this??? Can i maybe delete the fake one in SM59??

ADSL / fglrx problems after system update [Solved]

I'm hoping that somebody will be able to help me with this as I'm struggling to find the answer elsewhere in this forum. I recently installed Arch 0.7.2 base. I then got my internet connection sorted using my speedtouch modem as per the instructions on the Wiki. (using pppoa). I the installed xorg7, and gnome. I installed the ati-fglrx drivers from the instructions on the wiki. Up to this point, everything was working just fine.
I then decided to update the system so I did a pacman -Syu and all seemed to go well. After rebooting the machine, it would not start x and from the debug messages on the screen it seemed to be saying that it was having a problem loading the fglrx module.
I thought that I would try uninstalling the fglrx packages, then reinstalling and reconfiguring. I uninstalled them but then discovered that when I tried to download anything, my connection would be lost within a few seconds and wouldn't let me reconnect. The only way to reconnect was to reboot first. (I did find out that I had to do a modprobe ppp-generic first in order to connect since the update)
I then deleted my xorg.conf, and created another using hwd -x and then managed to get back into gnome using the default drivers - but obviously with no 3d acceleration. (I have a radeon 9500pro by the way). I tried connecting again and this time tested the connection through firefox. I managed to open 1 webpage before losing my connection again.
I'm sorry that I cannot post any logs just at the moment as I'm at work although I can later on. I'm just wondering for now if these problems seem familiar to anyone?

I have exactly the same problem as atalman.
My modem works fine, I can play eternal-lands/browse webpages for hours on end, but as soon as the modem is under any kind of heavy load, ie: ktorrent, amule, ebay (lots of images and open in new tabs) the connection dies..
I try
killall pppd
usually to find
pppd: no process killed
, so I then try
pppd call speedtch
which lets me know that the modem is already connected??
So I have to unplug/replug the modem in, pppd call speedtch, then it connects again on a different 'channel'.
dmesg shows no errors, I have enabled debug in the pppd settings which shows nothing, my firmwares are correct as Ive used the same on Slackware and Arch for ages. I originally thought the modem(rev 4) was dying so I swapped it over for my backup, an older manta/stingray version, different (working) firmware but all the same problems.

[SOLVED] Boot problems after system upgrade

hi everybody,
first of all i have to say, that the machine where i installed Arch is pretty old (something around 5 years).
I already tried installing Arch two times and every time after i performed a system upgrade, i couldn't boot arch.
Before the upgrade i rebooted several times to ensure that its working with the brand new installation - it worked.
Here i'm the 3rd try. This time i configured packman to ignore the kernel package and voila its working now with kernel 2.6.25.6-1.
So, here is my question: Is there any problem that could appear later on if i never upgrade the kernel?
I'm quite new to linux and really appreciate your support.

Well ... the kernel, like any other piece of program, from time to time has to be patched if they find a bug in it.
Never upgrading means that you do not get the benefit of security and improvements patches.
There is also the issue that some programs, a few, may want to have a certain kernel to run but I think that is less common.
I, for instance, have not upgraded the kernel for a few months now because it screws up my wifi.
If you can live with that then you are OK.

Schema Problem after system copy

Hi Gurus,
I did datafile copy after bringing down the source system & then recreated the DB in another system with another SID but target DB still shows schema name which refers to old domain & also all the tablespaces names are SAP<oldSID>.
Is there any quick fix to this? how do I rename all the schema?
Even if I run script 'ORADBUSR.SQL', it will not create all the objects in the newly created schemas. What should I do to make it up & running

If some 'Z' object or user exits is active in old system, & object not active in new system may make the fifference.

DB13 problems after system copy

I have done system copy and followed post installation steps but i am not able to execute any job through DB13 even after setting ops$ mechanism.
i get below job logs for any action started from DB13

Seems you missed out on creating OPS$ORADEV user.Execute the below steps again.

shutdown
startup open
drop table ops$prdadm.sapuser;
drop table ops$prdadm.cascade;
drop table ops$oraprd.sapuser;
drop table ops$oraprd.cascade;
Now Setup OPS$CONNECT for ORADEV(with default password for sapr3)
CREATE USER OPS$ORADEV IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY DEFAULT TABLESPACE PSAPUSER1D TEMPORARY TABLESPACE PSAPTEMP;
GRANT CONNECT,RESOURCE,DBA TO OPS$ORADEV WITH ADMIN OPTION;
CREATE TABLE "OPS$DEVADM".SAPUSER (USERID VARCHAR2(256),PASSWD VARCHAR2(256):
