BlackBerry PlayBook wil not switch on

I can't get my BlackBerry PlayBook to switch on properly. I read a message on the forum which is a few years old:"If you unplug the mains charger, re-insert the charger until the red light goes out for a approx 10-15 times, then when you hold the power on button for approx 15 seconds you get the dead battery symbol, leave the charger inserted, then you get a flashing green-ish LED light, after approx 1-2hrs, it will switch on!!" My PlayBook is coming on to the stage where the BlackBerry PlayBook words are on the screen as shown in the attached picture.  I am not getting a red light going out when I unplug the mains charger and re-inserting it. Please help.

You need to follow these instructions to "debrick" your PlayBook:
1. With the Desktop Software still open on your computer and the PlayBook powered off, connect the PlayBook to your computer once again.
2. You should see an error screen from Desktop Software popup with the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
Very quickly choose the Update option. If not, press and hold the power button for 20 secs.
3. All information will on your PlayBook will be erased and a reload of the Software will commence to install on the PlayBook.
4. Once this is complete your PlayBook will go back through the initial (as if new) setup wizard (entering the BlackBerryID, etc., and then you can perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your personal data from a previous backup. Applications which you downloaded from AppWorld won't restore, but they can be easily reinstalled using AppWorld > MyWorld section of AppWorld.

  • "BlackBerry PlayBook should not be available in the Republic of Ireland"

DO NOT BUY A BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK IF YOU LIVE IN IRELAND BECAUSE IT WILL NOT WORK AND BLACKBERRY WILL NOT HELP ANYONE IN IRELAND.
HERE'S MY STORY ("HAVE A GREAT DAY!"):
This is the complete message I sent (with a lot of difficulty) to "Blackberry Support" on 3 September 2012:
"I have just received my Blackberry Playbook bought online from PC World in Ireland, where I live. I cannot setup the unit because Ireland does not appear in the list of countries for the Agreement.
In order to register my product I have the same problem: Ireland does not exist as an option. In order to register my product and send this message I was forced to choose "UK" even though I live in Ireland, which is a totally different country.
Please tell me how to get past the Agreement screen on my Playbook."
This is the complete reply I received from "Brad" at "Blackberry Customer Support" (about 6 hours later):
Thank you for contacting BlackBerry Customer Support. We are pleased to assist you.
I'm sorry to hear that you were not able to setup or register the BlackBerry PlayBook in Ireland.
At this time the BlackBerry PlayBook should only be available in Northern Ireland (aka the United Kingdom). The BlackBerry PlayBook should not available in the Republic of Ireland, at present.
If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us either by replying to this message or by calling us at one of the numbers below.
I will be pending your case for the next two (2) days, at which time I will email you to see if the problem is resolved.
Thank you again for contacting us. Have a great day.
    Sincerely,

Jarviser, I am simply stating the facts about Blackberry not wanting people in Ireland to buy the Playbook. I know it is hard to believe but, I'll say it again, Ireland is NOT in the list of countries in the Blackberry Playbook setup menu. Therefore it is NOT possible to setup the Playbook as a resident of Ireland. Jarviser, you are totally wrong to assume that the only country not listed is Cyprus and your questioning of my facts is not appropriate.
Yes, it does sound unbelievable but Ireland (Eire, Republic of Ireland, Irish Republic) is also NOT in the list of countries where the new owner can legally register the product. The so-called  "Blackberry Support" is ONLY available AFTER the product has been registered – which is why it was difficult for me to even get a message to "Support" at all.
A few Irish customers may be willing to register using a false address in the UK or another country but, as well as being totally against the moral principles of many Irish people, it would also mean potential legal and practical problems with returning faulty products, guarantees, etc.
On another moral point: Blackberry is selling Playbooks to PC World/Curries in Ireland, knowing that they cannot be legally registered and knowing that many customers will simply not be able to setup and use the Playbooks at all because they can't get past the initial setup and registration process. The only option for many people will be to return the Playbook to PC World/Curries for a refund, after a lot of frustration and disappointment with Blackberry.
As a PR exercise, Blackberry is really shooting itself at a time when it already has lost a lot of customers to rivals and is in serious financial difficulties. Whoever is running Blackberry needs to wake up to the real problems the company is facing, including this dishonest selling of Playbooks in Ireland. Do any of them ever even read these forums?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Is there any chance it got wet? The symptom you describe sounds quite similar to what can happen in that case. If so, then:
    REMOVE YOUR BB BATTERY NOW!!!
Run, don't walk, to this FAQ:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Got_Your_BlackBerry_Wet%3F
Do everything it says, including waiting the maximum recommended time. Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.
    Good luck!

Hello I have a blackberry 9320 and i havent used it in about 4 months I tried to charge it earlier it wouldnt charge the red light would stay on for apporoximatley 40 seconds and then it would go off and the screen would stay blank
Can someone tell me a solution as sooon as poosible much apppriciated

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

if you want to decode DRM, you simply need to have the "closed keys" to decode them, and the legal right to do it.
For the legal right, it's just a matter of signing a contract with the DRM maker (for example the iPod division has those keys made by the iTunes division).
For the getting the closed keys, it is always possible, but can lead to difficulties in your personal life. look for DeCSS on Wikipedia to understand.

  • Bought app in order to sync itunes with a blackberry playbook.  Now Itunes will open on my computer but when i plug  my ipods in to charge or sync, itunes is not showing that they are plugged in. Cant charge or anything!

Obviously not too smart with all this technology.  I puchased a Blackberry Playbook Tablet and wanted to sync my itunes music, so following directions on the Playbook, I downloaded this app - Daniel Bingham Itunes sync - and when I went to my pc, I pulled it up, plugged in my Playbook and it did sync all my music from my Itunes library to the Playbook.  However, now when I plug an ipod in my pc to charge or sync more music, my pc is not showing it recognizes any of my ipods being plugged in.  It makes no mention of any of my ipods being connected!  I also keep getting this "Found New Hardware Wizard" box that keeps popping up everytime I plug an ipod in - it originally showed up when I had Playbook plugged in to download all its info (I think) but it never completes, saying not compatible - so I click cancel. I have since clicked on remove New found hardware but it still pops up. Why does it continue to show with every Ipod now?  Any idea on what I can do to repair this situation?  Please help!

  • Issues with Blackberry Playbook not being recognised by Windows Explorer

Hello, I'm new to the forums but am having the same problems as many others are, that being my Playbook not regonised by Windows Explorer. I have tried all of the solutions I have read like unistalling Desktop Manager, uninstalling then re-installing drives in Windows Device Manager. But one I recently stumbled across was uninstalling Blackberry Device Manager, how do I do this?
Also the main problem appears to be that my Playbook will not sync anything with my computer. In Desktop Manager I can back-up my Playbook, but not sync anything. After re-installing a drive I now get the message of: 'Your Blackberry device is not compatible with this feature' whereas before I got the message of: 'You haven't configured any sync methods' but yet all of the sync options were greyed out.
How do I get Windows Explorer to recognise my Playbook as a drive and how can I sync in Desktop Manager?
    Thanks in advance!
    Note: I'm using Windows 7 32-Bit

  • No Direct support for BlackBerry PlayBook tablet - why not I just bought it?

I've just bought a playbook. It says it comes with complimentary technical support for 90 days form the date of purchase. I have attempted to register the device using the S/N number as required and I get the following:
Unfortunately, your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet does not qualify for Complimentary Support. You can, however, get assistance using incident based support from Research In Motion.
    Why? grrrrrrrrrrrr

It should be. The complimentary support is just for help setting it up.
If you visit http://blackberry.com/support and follow the link for PlayBook you should get a phone number you can call, and RIM support will be able to help you.

  • Adobe Reader for the BlackBerry PlayBook Showstopping Issue: App does not start

    Hello;
I would like to report an issue with the Adobe Reader app for the BlackBerry PlayBook which renders the application fully unusable. This issue occurs everytime. This issue has been tested and verified to occur in two distinct BlackBerry PlayBook devices.
Here is a screenshot stating what version (10.0.3.325) of the Adobe Reader app I have installed:
This, I understand, is the latest version for my platform. Unfortunately, the application does not start. Attempting to run it results in a blank screen after showing the BlackBerry logo. The blank screen can be seen in the following screenshot:
It is also strange that the application does not appear in the Application Permissions list, as seen in the following screenshot:
Is there a fix for this showstopping issue? What steps should I take?

Same issue here.  Playbook support knows about it, and referred to Adobe.  The Adobe forum has this comment.  Looks like our Playbooks are abandoned as a platform.
    "Mar 4, 2012 7:20 PM
As the tablet market continues to evolve, we continue to evaluate how to best support the market and where to focus on our resources. Because of this,  Adobe has decided to end its support of the  RIM QNX Playbook devices in March 2012.  This means the ability to create new applications for submission to the RIM store will no longer be possible in Adobe Viewer Builder as well as the ability to rebuild existing targets for new releases of Digital Publishing Suite. Any existing QNX targets will be removed from the manage view inside Viewer Builder".

  • Blackberry Playbook not charging -have two exactly the same and both not connecting to charger...help!!

Bought my two children a playbook each last Christmas. They were fine for the first six months but have had problem after problem with charging and battery life ever since. It has now come to the point that the playbooks haven't been used for the past few months and are sat on the computer desk, unused!! The chargers do not connect-they're plugged in, but the connection doesn't get through. I have also bough numerous other compatible chargers but have had the same problem with them so we now know it is the playbook rather than the charger.
Has anyone else had this problem? HELP!! We don't want to waste the money we spent on two Playbooks only a year ago-I don't think six months use is acceptable from a piece of technology such as this.

    Hello mljackson680,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
If you're receiving the flashing green LED light, it sounds like the BlackBerry PlayBook battery is completely drained.  I suggest plugged the BlackBerry PlayBook into the wall charger for several hours to get a charge again.
Let me know if the issue still persists after charging it after several hours.
