Blackberry Protect won't locate phone while roaming on Rogers

I am a ATT customer who decided to try BB Protrect while on vacation in Cananda and this is what I discovered.  BB Protect doesn't work as it did on my 9900 on the Rodgers newtwork.  BB this is a step backward, since the BB Protect OS10 no longer backs up.

  • Blackberry protect reversing archive of phone I use.

Hi to all, I have accidentally archived my blackberry 9360 on bb protect whilst archiving older lost handsets. I would like to take my current handset out of he archived section on bb protect, however am struggling to do so. Please help as I can no linger remotely (via pc) use the features such as locate phone, lock and send message on screen. Please help me.

First, you need to remove your email address from your post.
Second, try making a manual backup and see if it logs it on the BB Protect Website.
Third, if you use the Protect app and go to Restore (don't actually do the restore) does it show in the list on the device?

  • Restoring from blackberry protect on my old phone

    Hi,
I need to restore a backup on my old phone from Blackberry Protect, but I do not have a data service since it has been moved on my new Z10.  how can I retrieve the data?  I do have a wifi connection on the device!
    Thanks,

    Hello,
You cannot. On a legacy BB, you must have an active and adequate BIS account so as to have any use of the proprietary services, including BB Protect.

  • Blackberry Protect service Unavailable

Yes, indeed...when you do that, we can only hope that you actually read and tried what was already in the thread before you. You have yet to confirm that you have done so...

Looks like some how, my phone is blocking calls from businesses.
Given that your entire description to this point included no successful inbound calls whatsoever, it is difficult for me to reach the same conclusion. I cannot conclude, based on what you said, that only businesses are blocked...from what you said, I'd deduce that ALL inbound calls are blocked. But then you went on...

OK...at least now I understand what you actually did. Thank you.

Indeed, you need to replicate exactly the failures from before to determine if what you did cured your issues or not. Otherwise, we're just guessing.
    deb1985 wrote:
If that don't work then I don't know what's going on. My BlackBerry protect won't work. Its not worked for a while. It won't connect. Just says unable to connect. Location settings etc are on. EE said they can't help
EE has lied to you. Consider -- you PAY THEM for all of your services, which by contract makes them responsible for ALL of your formal service-related support. If they cannot figure it out, they have the ability (indeed, responsibility!) to escalate formally up to BlackBerry. As the link I provided you earlier states, end users have no free method to seek any support from BB whatsoever...the sole method to bypass your contractually required support channel (starting with EE) involves you paying a fee. That is the way formal support works, and all parties are contractually bound to it. Whoever you have talked to at EE is either telling you a lie, is uneducated as to how the process works, or there is more to the story than you have revealed. Based on what you have revealed, I can only deduce that you are entitled to formal support from EE, including escalation to BB...why they are refusing to do so is a mystery. But your persistence with them will be the key -- don't let the first person fob you off, insist that they live up to the contract you have with them, and escalate to their management, You PAY THEM for all of your services and support...right now, it appears they are delivering neither to you.

  • How to find a lost BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect

Posted originally on the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
It’s a scenario no one wants to encounter but here’s a quick overview how you can help locate your BlackBerry 10 smartphone using BlackBerry Protect if you can’t find it.
Tip: Using a BlackBerry OS device? Check out this post for help locating your device using BlackBerry Protect.
Step 1 – Enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services
To locate your smartphone you must enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services.
After you turn on Location Services, your smartphone only sends its location information when you request it through the BlackBerry Protect website, or when your battery power is low.
Swipe down from the top of the screen
    Tap  Settings > BlackBerry Protect
Set the BlackBerry Protect switch to On
    Tap Location Services
Set the Location Services switch to On
Tap  Back to save your change
Step 2 – Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website
After you enable BlackBerry Protect and turn on Location Services, complete the following steps to view the location of your smartphone on a map.
Log in to the BlackBerry Protect website located at http://protect.blackberry.com
    Click View Location
BlackBerry Protect will attempt to locate your smartphone
If your smartphone can be located, a map appears similar to the following showing the approximate location:
If you still can’t find your smartphone at the reported location, use the Play Sound option within the BlackBerry Protect website. This option makes your smartphone ring loudly for one minute as well as activating the Loud profile.
Help! BlackBerry Protect can’t locate my smartphone!
To locate your device it must be turned on and connected to the wireless network.
Because BlackBerry Protect also uses GPS, you may not locate your smartphone if it is inside a building, underground, or otherwise blocked from receiving a satellite signal.

  • The blackberry protect service is temporarily unavailable

I changed the sim on my phone and ever since I have the blackberry protect highlighted on my phone.  It says I need to log back in in order for my phone to be protected however everytime I attempt to log in the message "The Blackberry ID service is temporarily unavailable".
This has been going on for weeks now and my phone is not protected! Is there any reason it says unavailable? what can I do?
I am currently using wifi as my phone does not have roaming

    1) Register HRT: (OS5) Home Screen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scroll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.
    2) Resend Service Books: Article ID: KB02830 How to send the service books for a BlackBerry Internet Service account. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
    3) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Use prepaid while roaming in Mexico?

I am looking for information on if it is possible to use a Verizon Prepaid phone while roaming in Mexico. I am going to be staying in Cancun Mexico and it looks like Verizon does have service there.
Unfortunately, I am not able to find any information on pricing for phone calls from Mexico on a prepaid plan.
Additionally, I came upon this following website which lists a $15 option to add 1000 minutes in Mexico but it looks like it is only for a Share Everything plan. Is something like this available for prepaid?
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/global/plans-and-pricing.html
Thank you for all your help!

        Hi there sergey333!
What I wouldn't do to enjoy some warm Cancun weather! I definitely want to ensure you get the information you need for your travels and know the rates if you need to stay connected with your Verizon Prepaid services.
It does seem the availability may be dependent on your prepaid plan. If you visit this link: http://vz.to/10zGE60 and use the drop down to select your plan type, choose "View Plan Details", then "More Information" at the bottom of the description.
Within these details it describes the International Roaming Rate is $0.20 per minute, $0.99 per minute from Mexico, and $0.50 to send a text and $0.05 to receive a text.
To ensure you have all of the information you need for your specific plan and phone I would recommend contacting our 24/7 Prepaid Customer Service at 888-294-6804.
Have safe travels and enjoy your trip!
    Thanks!

  • Blackberry Protect - Locating Phone

I'm using a BB Tour 9650 with 6.0. I recently installed Blackberry Protect however as of right now it appears to be unable to locate my phone through the website. The service appeared to work great last night with the exception that it was unable to locate my phone via GPS though I have the Checkbox checked to locate phone via website for BB Protect. Today while trying to test it and get it working I am finding that I am not able to send the commands to it, send ringtone, send lock, etc unless I restart the application on my phone then everything sends. Any ideas?

  • BlackBerry Protect doesn't show my phone

Hello, I am trying to set BlackBerry Protect for my Z10. I can enable it on my phone side. However, on the web side, it always says: "A device isn’t associated with BlackBerry Protect." and I cannot use all the protect functions shown on  the web. I confirmed that my wireless network, location service and BlackBerry ID work well. I tried to disable/enable BlackBerry Protect for many times, and reboot the phone many times. I waited about 1 week, but I still cannot make BlackBerry Protect work on the web side. My OS version is 10.3.2.440. My phone is an AT&T version Z10 brought directly from AT&T in USA. The Support Information on the BlackBerry Protect web shows: BlackBerry Account Email:(my BlackBerry ID)Web Portal Version:1.2.1.93 - scm-1.2.1.93Server Name:kronos.bbprotect.us.blackberry.comProtected Devices:Model Client ID PIN default-1----------  Please help me to solve the issue. Thanks!

OK, I want you to do a couple things, EVEN if you have done these before, try in this order. try this,at Settings > BlackBerry Protect, turn off Protect. Leave it off.Restart: Leaving the Z10 powered on, remove the battery for five minutes and then reinsert to reboot. Give it 2-3 minutes after rebooting for all data syncing to subside, and then,Now, turn on Protect again and after some time see if Protect is working yet.ALSO, have you connected your BlackBerry to your PC with the Link software?
