Blackberry Q10 camera issue

My back camera does not work. it just goes to a black screen. The front camera works fine. Is this a problem with the software update or a hardware problem?

What version of the OS are you currently on.

  • Q10 Camera issue

    Hello everybody,
    I'm having hard time with my Q10 camera.
    It started some weeks ago when starting the camera app wasn't possible. It always said something like "camera could not be started". A restart or two mostly "fixed" it.
    This time things got really strange. Now I can start the camera but the screen shows colourful stripes, which can not be taken as photo, but as video. I uploaded it on, link below.

    Restart won't let the issue go away. Anyone who got an idea what the hell this is?

  • Blackberry Q10 Contacts Issues

    We are having some issues with the Blackberry Q10 contacts and how it merges contacts together.
    All of the contacts needed in the phone are stored in an Exchange account. When we added the Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts, it added contacts from those accounts as well into the contact list. We do not need these contacts to be synced, but I didn’t see a way to add the accounts without having the contacts sync with the phone. The major problem we are having is that the phone is merging contacts of seemingly random people. It would merge people together with completely different names with seemingly no reason to merge together. This leads to various issues like the wrong picture showing up and the wrong name showing up while making and receiving calls.
    In addition to wanting help with resolving this issue, I have a few relevant questions.
    1)      Is there any way to Unlink all of the contacts so we can quickly resolve the issue of random people being merged together?
    2)      Is there any way to have Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts on the phone but without having their contacts/connections synced into the phone’s contact list?

    As stated you can unlink them one by one. You can also remove Facebook, Twitter etc contacts from the phone book list. By swipping down from the top of the screen, then select settings. There you will see, show accounts in contact list. You can select off to remove Facebook, Twitter etc.
    However if you have a contact in your phone book who is also one of your Facebook, Twitter etc etc friends, those contacts details will be linked together and as stated, you'll have to unlink them one by one.

  • Another BlackBerry Q5 camera issue. Why is BB ignoring the problem?

    Hi all
    I love the blackberry Q5 , and appreciate the bb10 OS. Got bored of IOS and don't like the android phones...
    I was happy with it until the camera stopped working three days ago.
    I blocked all third party apps, drained the battery, security wiped twice, shut down and restarted the phone dozens of times, downloaded two camera apps... But none of this worked.
    I still get the can't change flash mode message or can't access then camera one.
    Odd thing, I tried snapchat and would get then front camera working.
    The handset is no longer under warranty .
    I'm wondering why BlackBerry is ignoring the issue, noticed many similar problems with loads of other users that had even changed the camera module.
    Any suggestions? I'm worried to change for other Q5 or Q10 as the malfunction seems quite recurrent...

    Well, since the original poster of this thread fixed his already, why don't you start from the beginning and let us know what exactly the problem is and what, exactly, you've done to try and solve it.
    You replaced hardware? So, you've disassembled the device?
    How have you "restored software?"

  • Blackberry Passport Camera Issues

    Hi there. I just received my white Passport today and the camera is not working properly. When I go to take a pic it either freezes or it takes a pic but the picture can not be found in the "camera roll" as if it never was taken. I went in and shut off all the enhancement futures and it seems to be resolved but I don't think that's appropriate to have to do on a $700 device. Anyone else experience this challenge?

    Try rebooting by holding the power button for about 10 seconds, through the countdown, through the red LED, and until the BlackBerry logo comes up again.

  • Blackberry Q10 ActiveSync Issues

    Hi,
    I have a brand new Q10 which I connected to the our activesync service. We are in an Exchange 2007 environment and we have iPhones and Android devices connected via ActiveSync without any problems. 
    With this device the emails do get downloaded when it is initially setup but when we send emails to it nothing happens. The settings are set to push so this should work instantaneously. If I click on the Refresh option within the client it still does nothing. However, if I remove the battery and re-insert it the emails come flooding down and then same problem remains (i.e. no further emails being recieved after this point). 
    My OS version is 10.1.0.2309. 
    Has this problem been experienced by other people?

  • BlackBerry Q10 bluetooth issues since software upgrade

    I have a BBQ10 and a chevy sonic with mylink. UP until Monday night they paired fine everything worked and then I had a software upgrade on my BlackBerry. It installed just fine no issues there. Now when I try to make/receive calls while using bluetooth in the car my phone has to be using speaker. Handset doesn't work, nor does bluetooth. The first time I start car up and the devices pair I can get the bluetooth to ask me "what would u like to do" I can get all the way to connecting to the call. As soon as call is connected it tells me it's going into private mode. This is the point where only the speaker on the phone itself will work. I can not talk via bluetooth or "handset" speaker only or I don't hear people but they hear me. I know it's not an issue with the mylink in car I paired my mum's bold and everything works as it should. Suggestions?

    Problem solved. Changed phone name. Deleted pairing between phone and car bluetooth rebooted phone turned car off and back on. Repaired devices and seems to be fine now

  • Blackberry Q10 power issues

    Hello all: Used a samsung cable to charge my phone and it died right infront of me. I heard a noise too. I've taken it into Rogers and its not a battery issue. I've tried to connect it to the computer with and without the battery and have tried the wall charger as well. Phone is fried perhaps? Its new and I cant get a hardware upgrade either.  All my log ons for school and work are on it, along with pictures. Is there anything else I could try?  Thanks

  • Q10 battery issue

    I bought a Blackberry Q10 on Wednesday. One of the reasons I bought it was for battery life, however I have been having issues with this. The blackberry loses about 10 in an hour without any usage and with email synching turned to manual. I also have task manager and there are no apps running in the background. I go to bed with 50 percent battery and wake up to a dead phone. Is there something I should do or should I send it back? I got the phone just over 2 days ago, and updated it straight away. Wifi is only on during the day. ( I posted this before but accidently clicked on accept as solution even though I didn't mean too)

  • Blackberry Q10 latest software update issues

    I updated the software on my blackberry q10 2 weeks ago and I've been having a lot of issues every other day my email accounts are saying passwords have been changed and it now saying I have too many accounts and this is confusing since I had all these accounts added before the update

    I already tried to do a wipe & restore.  Now I am sitting here with no access to any of my contact information or backed up data because as soon as it does the mandatory reboot it deletes everything again... going crazy is an understatement for how I feel right now.  This is my work phone & not being able to access any of my contacts or calendar is ridiculously frustrating.

  • Blackberry Q10 Boot Loop Issues

    Hi, I need help!
    Just replaced the front glass/LCD on a Blackberry Q10, everything went smoothly, no issues, pretty easy process. 
    I then plug the phone in, to charge and it automatically comes on, loads to about 30% then makes a faint sound and cuts off, then keeps rebooting to about the same point (27%-34% loaded) each time and cuts off each time. 
    And there is no indicator that the phone is charging.
    I tried some solutions I found online but none worked.
    I am trying to avoid loosing data.
    I do not have the original charger, could this be the issue?
    Also the battery is a little damaged physically, could this be the issue?

    From what you describe, I would deduce that something got damaged during the replacement you conducted, resulting in what you are now experiencing. But I am rather concerned...you did not have a backup before you began that repair? Risky, to say the least...
    If you cannot repair it again yourself, you'll need to find someone who can. Given what you describe, I doubt you have any warranty coverage anymore.

  • Blackberry Q10 - Bluetooth Audio gone / Contacts not shown in HUB

    Dear Blacberry Community,
    I have some questions regarding my Blackberry Q10, that I use since not even a year.
    1. If I buy a mobile phone from a company that wants to be the star in the business world, why do I have to solve any issues with the help from other users? That the company that produces the product is not able to fix it themselves may be part of the problems...
    2. After my last recovery action the phone does not show the name for some specific contacts in the Hub, though caller ID and contacts entry is ok. Still, the Hub only shows only the number.
    3. After an OS software update the phone occassionally failed to contact to my car via bluetooth to play audio files - The hands-free speakerphone always worked and works! But I used to play the MP3 files stored on my phone via bluetooth on the cars stereo system. Similar problem like this.
    Sometimes it works, sometimes the option Bluetooth Audio was not available in the cars built-in stereo.
    After finding no solution in the internet I decided to re-install the phone software. After recovering the phone (and loosing half of the contacts that magically got lost during the backup process, and picking up problem no.2) it worked ok - until it started again, getting worse day by day. Sometimes the music started, but on the phone, not on the car speaker.
    Then came the new software update to 10.2.1.2977.
    Instead of the anticipated fix this update did something unexpected. Now, the Bluetooth Audio function does not work at all, never. I already deleted the bluetooth connection with the car, and reinitiated it, but no change. Phone works, Audio doesn't.
    Which basically means that I do not use the audio function anymore. Which I consider a cool statement, such as driving a Mercedes S-Class, but you can't give the three blondes on the curbside a lift, because at the last inspection the Mercedes workshop accidently removed the rear bench - and then asked you to ask other Mercedes drivers to install it back in.
    Bluetooth Audio connection to bluetooth speakers works, though.
    Anybody a good idea? I'm reluctant to re-install the phone again, since it damaged as much as it fixed last time. And didn't last long.
    How about a software update that, for a change, fixes the problem, instead of creating it?

    I'm having the same issues.
    My NEW Q10 will work fine for phone connection in my Hyundai Elantra GT(2013). It will connect via bluetooth to similarly enable speakers(Altec theJacket - not the XL) but NO AUDIO through the connected speakers!!! This is quite frustrating. The manual says it supports about a dozen 'profiles'. The Q10 supports APT-X technology, but not many speaker manufacturers support this. The Altec XL-Jacket is twice the price of theJacket. 
    When will BB fix the audio streaming problem? This is a major nuiscence! 

  • Q10 camera doesn't work anymore

    Dear all, my Q10 camera doesn't start and I get a message: "it's impossible to switch on the camera" (please, note that my language is Italian and therefore my translations of the messages could be incorrect).
    I have tried with the diagnosis tool BBVE and when it's time to test the camera it shows: "BBVE doesn't have the access to camera" as if I had denied the access to this app. But in the settings the camera is enabled.
    I tried accessing to camera from some other app: the main camera never works while I could get something from the screen camera, but not always.
    I have also tried disabling the access to camera to any app but the problem still occurs.
    Please, who can help?
    I am afrai I must reload the full software from Link but, in that case, shall I find my settings somewhere or I will have to set everything back manually?

    It sounds like there is a hardware problem with the phone.  Have you reported this to the carrier or have a authorized repair shop take a look?

  • Os 10.3 expected release for blackberry Q10 with videotron

    Hi,
    I own a blackberry q10 on the videotron network. I can't update my device to the os 10.3 to be able to use blackberry blend and the new functions.
    Do you know when I can expect the release of the update for the q10 device with videotron?

Indeed, even BB does not know...for it is the responsibility of each carrier to approve the OS released by BB and then subsequently release it to their users.   • Q10 Camera

    Hello, i've a problem with my Q10 camera gallery 
    whenever i take a photo from Q10 camera my photo gellery doesnt get updated with the latest photos i captured. but after some time (half an hour may be) it gets updated automatically with all latest photos i've taken. same is the case with all photos and videos i recieve through whats app/BBM or through link.

    I recommend you reload your device through BlackBerry link. You will lose any pictures or data so I recommend you create backup your pictures and data through BlackBerry protect.
    This should solve your problems.
