Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Here is a KB that discusses that error code:
KB18751Error "Reload Software: 552" is displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone
In addition, you can find your carriers OS packages via this portal:
http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Further still, here are the instructions that I favor for installing (upgrade, downgrade, reload) an OS onto a BB:

  • Blackberry software has stopped working

I have a Pearl 8120 with software version v4.5.0.182 platform 2.7.0.106 with Blackberry Software 6.1.0.35 on a Vista laptop.
I have been syncing my Pearl with Outlook for a long time.  Earlier this week, I received an error right at the end of the sync (as it is moving data to the device) which said "Blackberry Desktop Software has stopped working".  I have been troubleshooting every since.  I can get it to successfully sync if I delete the intellisync folder or reinstall the software.  However, the problem returns on the next sync.  So, now, unless I delete the intellisync folder, it errors out before the sync completes (this is always happening after it reconciles and asks if I want the changes to occur.  Here are the things I have tried:
    1) did a hard restart on the blackberry (removing battery)
    2) freed up memory on the Blackberry - moving media files to the memory card
    3) repaired the Blackberry software
    4) did a complete uninstall of the software and reinstalled
    5) ran a log and tried editing the last outlook appointment
    6) ran scanpst.exe and scanost.exe
    7) did a one-way sync from outlook to the device
    8) deleted the intellisync folder (multiple times - works the first sync, fails after that)
I have not changed anything on the Blackberry or the Blackberry software that I know of.  The pc is a work pc, and so there could have been an update to the o/s or other program that could have been applied (they would not be applying any blackberry updates).  I am getting very frustrated trying to figure out what is going on.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Userinit.exe Error when loading BlackBerry Software

Hopefully, someone has come across this.
I have loaded the BlackBerry software on a new Acer laptop and after rebooting, I get the following error:
The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812aeb.
I thought at first that it was a memory error with the new laptop. So, I replaced the ram and I still received the same problem.
I then returned the laptop and received another and it's giving me the exact same error message.
There are no events in any of the errors logs.
    Any thoughts?

  • I thought I deleted downloaded BlackBerry software, but it remained even after I did a system restore. I manually deleted it from the Apps folder, but it's still in System Profiler under Apps. How do I delete this from System Profiler?

Right now, it seems as if it is still showing in System Profiler, then the unnecessary BlackBerry software I downloaded from the internet is still using memory, right? How do I permanently delete it?

In addition to what Drew wrote, remember the Mac has a data fork and a resource fork.
Here is an old thread but a nice recap by Dr. Smoke
    ._Files
Note that the ._file files you note are the resource forks of Mac files you copied to the drive from your Mac, and these are only visible when you use the Flash drive on a PC. These are normal and indicate the Flash drive is already formatted for Windows.
When you copy or save a file from a Mac OS X system to a Windows shared volume or a Windows-formatted disk, the Mac creates two files: the data fork (xxx) and the resource fork (._xxx). This is called Apple Double Format and is normal. The resource fork contains additional data about the file that is exclusive to the Mac that cannot be saved otherwise on Windows-formatted disks. This is new with Mac OS X, as documented in Mac OS X: Apple Double Format Creates File Name With the Prefix '._'.
The resource fork files (._xxx) are necessary if you want to copy the file back to the Mac and retain the metadata. The resource forks of files are invisible when they are used on the Mac: the Mac OS Extended file system (aka HFS Plus or HFS+) uses forked files, with a file having both data and resource forks.
You can delete the resource forks on the Windows disk if and only if you don't care about losing the resource fork information should you copy them back to the Mac, such as comments, image preview icon, etc. Some Mac applications use the resource fork data, so deleting the resource fork can be problematic if you copy the file back to the Mac. Likewise moving the file while not also moving its associated resource fork when using the data on a PC can result in problems when using some files again on the Mac.
You can't prevent the resource forks from being created if you copy or save files from the Mac to the Windows share or Windows-formatted disk via Finder.

  • Where can I download Blackberry software for Mac OS 10.5.8

Where can I find a download the Blackberry software for Mac OS 10.5.8? Also what is the higest possible software upgrade for a Blackberry Curve 8530? I recently got this old phone back and I'm trying to see what I should do with it and if its worth keeping.

Hello Professoracex and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
In order to use the BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer,  you need OSX 10.6 or later.
As for the latest software version, your mobile carrier decides what versions they will release to support. You can check your mobile carrier's download site here for the latest available version.
    Hope this answers your question.

Here is the KB article regarding this issue:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/dynamickc.do?externalId=KB03490&sliceId=SAL_Public&command=show&forwa...
Basically you go to start, programs, accessories and right click command prompt and select "run as administrator"  in the command prompt window that comes up type in regsvr32 vbscript.dll
You should get a message that it succeeded, if you get any other message be sure you are running the command as administrator.  If you are in the command prompt as administrator type cd \Windows\system32 and try the command again, if that doesn't work try cd \Windows\SysWOW64 and try the command again.  Once you get the succeeded message try to install the Desktop Manager again and it should work.
    Cheers!

  • Blackberry Software Consistently Causes Latest MacBook Pro to Crash

I¹ve used the Mac Blackberry desktop software for a couple of months now and
would like it on the record that this software is very temperamental. While
it upgrades my Blackberry successfully, it causes numerous crashes when it
is left up for some time (probably more than 5 minutes). I have one of the
latest MacBook Pros and am constantly running programs such as Disk Warrior
to ensure that the machine is running smoothly. The Blackberry software is
unique in that it is one of the few pieces of software that causes my
    computer to crash.
Please also note, that for users using MobileMe to update their calendars,
the MobileMe calendar file cannot be read by the Blackberry updater. Thus,
another file ³On My Mac² has to be created in order to update. Please note
that I am not currently using a data plan and that my Blackberry is updated
only by plugging it directly into the computer.
Since I am able to update my Blackberry data reasonably accurately with this
software, this is currently a workable situation for me. However, if the
problems persist and the bugs in the software aren¹t resolved, I will be
more and more tempted to get rid of the Blackberry and go with something
more reliable such as the iPhone.

  • Facebook and new Blackberry Software

Ok- this is silly, but with the old blackberry software, to do almost everything on facebook i would have to go to the Full site link and wait forever for everything to load but i could at least access all applications on facebook- now with the new software i can still do that but for example, i try to play Mafia Wars- i try to click on links etc. and nothing happens- is there some new trick or something?
I wish they would make sites not mobile version- the mobile versions never have everything- at least facebook has a link to view full site- but that's the 1 think i like better with the IPhone- u can view normal webpages!

  • Incompatibility between company enterprise server/software (non BB) and blackberry software updates.

My phone is connected to our company enterprise server and works fine until the blackberry software updates. When ever a blackberry software update occurs, the operating system on the phone crashes, (icons shrink down, not all icons are present, phone does not display or operate correctly).  I am on my 5th phone, the only way to correct the situation is to get another phone.    Is there some way I can turn off the blackberry updates on my phone???

for email on a BlackBerry device, you have the following options :
BES. It's the Rolls Royce. You have to pay the price for it (a BES server, as well as admins, OR use a private BES service)
BIS. It's the one for regular people. You can't deal with folders, but it's free and works on any email address using POP3 or IMAP
BIS over Outlook Web Access. It's like BIS but through the webmail Outlook Web Access. Depending on the version of Outlook Web Access, it is or not possible for you to connect to it
    webmails
a dedicated email application, like GMail for BlackBerry
BlackBerry Unite -> check the documentation on the website about that. Basically, it's like a tiny BES.
Watch out, unlike Windows Mobile devices, there are no true IMAP clients available on the BlackBerry devices (you can use BIS over IMAP but without folders for example).

  • Blackberry software 7.1 Bundle 2039

    Hi all,
I recently updated my Curve 9360 to 7.1 Bundle 2039 through my desktop manager, and ever since the battery has become just awful. I've noticed that near the halfway mark it turns my signal and wifi off stating I have low battery, the bb light flashes yellow once and then does nothing. Allowing me to turn them both back and and continue as normal. Then at around 20-30% of battery life, it then repeats only when I turn the signal/wifi back on the battery does then actually show its low then just turning off without warning.
I know its the software as before I didn't have these problems. I've searched all over installing crackmen, uninstalling and reinstalling an older desktop manager and so on
I need an easy step by step guide of how to downgrade, so try not to just tell me to go to FAQ to go around in 1 big circle again so if anyone could help, thanks

    Hello 212time
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
There are two methods you can try :
You can perform a Clean Reload of your device Software, while doing so When you run Desktop Software Click the Device menu and select Update > click On View other versions > On that list if you're able to view the required Version that you're looking for Click on it to Install that specific Version But first do a backup of your device.
KB11320 : How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device software using BlackBerry desktop software for windows
Or you can  manually  Downgrade your device Software as you want , for that follow those instructions :
1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here  BlackBerry Software Download Site
(make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )
     2. Now Double the file that you Downloaded to Install it on your PC
    3. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then using desktop software perform your full backup of your device.
4.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml , On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ( You can skip this step if you're usng your Carrier OS ) :
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.
Just follow the Onscreen directions and Upgrade / Downgrade  will continue then After Installation of New OS restore your backup using  BlackBerry desktop Software.

  • Blackberry software is changing outlook invitees

I have a Pearl 8120 with software version v4.5.0.182 platform 2.7.0.106 with Blackberry Software 6.1.0.35 on a Vista laptop.
    I sync with Outlook 2007 on a pc .
There are about 600 meeting appointments that keep getting changed back and forth everytime I sync.  It appears that some names in Outlook are getting changed during the sync process.  When looking at the discrepancy in the "view" part of the sync program, outlook shows Doe, John while the Blackberry shows John Doe.  I tell it to go ahead and sync to make the corrections.  The next sync, it updates Outlook with the device data and keeps making these switches back and forth.
I have run scanpst.exe and scanost.exe to see if fixing the outlook file will resolve this, but it doesn't help.  I can't figure out how to fix it so it quits changing names between the two places.

  • Updating Blackberry Software

The physical keyboard on my Blackberry Torch totally killed out and an ATT employee recommended that I reinstall my Blackberry software. Instead of reinstalling it, the Desktop Software recommended that I UPGRADE the software to a newer version. Which I'm doing now. It's been on 506 out of 572 modules downloaded for the last hour and a half now. Is this an issue?

There are several methods of upgrading BlackBerry device operating systems, using your BlackBerry Desktop Software, wireless upgrades from your service provider and manually using loader.exe
    1. KB03621How to reload the software on the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software
     2. KB15633How to request a wireless BlackBerry Device Software update using a BlackBerry smartphone
    3. Manually using loader.exe
See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.
First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers
once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you
are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the

  • Need Blackberry Software For Mac

So here i am working on a mac with os  10.3 (don't ask why, lol) And i can't seem to locate an early enough version of pocketmac to sync up my 8100, or charge or veiw files or much of anything for that matter.
anyone got a link to such a download, or a piece of software that will work on my dino-mac ?

The Blackberry software is listed as compatible with Leopard. Not sure if it works with Snow.
As long as you have an Intel Mac with 1 GB of RAM or better you can run Snow or Leopard.
