Blackberry system icons are deleted

Hello there i've wanted to experience android apps on my blackberry q5 and downloaded the suitable autoloader for my device I did everything that was mentioned regarding instructions to the T
All the andoid apps were working great HOWEVER I discovered after downloading the autoloader some app icons disappeared and the ones that I'm talking about are the ones that come with the system i.e. picture music remember etc...
Bare in mind I've wiped my phone 3 or 4 times and still I end up with the same results the main blackberry apps are gone missing then I was like fine after downloading the android apps and restart they might return but no they ended up missing T_T
I've got a couple of questions as from now my Blackberry Q5 is in a BIG MESS
1. How can I uninstall the autoloader files from the device maybe they are the ones causing this mayhem?
2. How can I restore the main blackberry apps back on the phone?
I've tried every site out there but literally lost hope as I end up with the same result hope u cud help on solving this issue

Hello,
There is no Autoloader to remove from your device...Autoloaders are apps on the PC that load, to the device, a specific OS package. But the Autoloader itself is not resident on the device at all. So, your remedy would most likely to be to use a different AutoLoader for a different OS level and see if that does not display this same problem for you.
You did not reveal the specific OS level you are discussing...please note that if it is anything beyond the presently officially released levels (e.g., a "leak"), then it is not supported and is also against the Ts and Cs of this site to be discussed here.
Good luck!

  • Blackberry 8330 icons are gone from display, no menu, nothing. Help

As of 10/10/2011 all my icons are gone from my main display screen EXCEPT Applications (which doesn't open anything if I click on it--in fact I then lose that icon as well) and the Profiles icon.  A hard reset doesn't do anything to fix the problem.

  • System Icons are gone

A lot of my icons are missing, applications folder, desktop folder, macintosh hd, stuff like that. I noticed it right after I updated to 10.6.4 but it could have been sooner. Anyone know why this is happening or how I can fix it?

Yeah Ive done that. I Ran the disk utility and it said my disk can not be verified and needs to be repaired but I dont know how to do that

  • Bridge icons are invisible

After downloading the latest Playbook update, all my Blackberry Bridge icons are invisible.  You can see the title for each  icon (Calendar, Messages, Tasks, Bridge Browser etc.) and the apps work if you click on the spot where the icon is located, but all you see above the title of each icon is the Playbook wallpaper.
    anyone else with this problem?

    It happened to me yesterday.
I just restarted the PlayBook and they came back fine.

  • Missing all System Icons

Yesterday all of a sudden I noticed that all of the Mac system icons are missing from the top bar, finder, drop down menus, etc. I've already restarted it, several times and ran a virus scan. I contacted Apple support and the rep said she wasn't sure why it was doing this and the only way to fix it was to do an Internet Recovery. I created a test account and it's not an issue on that other account. Has the happened to anyone or know how to fix it?
I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I haven't installed any new software recently. I installed 10.10.1 the day it came out and this hasn't been an issue.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

I was hoping to be able to play around and edit the HD (Hard Drive) icon (at its largest size).
I can only seem to copy and paste the little Icon of it.
Can you suggest any other ways?
I know in Panther there was a directory where all the system icons where stored, does this not Apply to Leo aswell?
I don't believe that was true in Panther and it's definitely not true in leopard. there are a number of places where system icons are located. many are inside /system/library/coreservices/coretypes.bundle. however, if you want to edit the icon of the hard drive there is no need to muck around with any system files. you can simply apply a custom icon to the drive.

the size of the displayed icon does not depend on the image you use and is set in finder preferences. click anywhere on the desktop and go to View menu->show view options. adjust the icon size there.

  • All my icons are missing in YahooMail. I have tried everything written here, Delete cache, let web site choose own fonts. Works in Chrome.

I have read every post here regarding this problem. I now have to use chrome to use my Yahoo mail. This problem i have on my note book too.
Tell me how install FF version before 24.
I see i am not the only one with this issue.
Also I now use 25 and still no good, my font size is so small and I cannot re size it.

Those icons are a special font that is downloaded from the Yahoo server.
I assume that you see little boxes with the hex code instead?
If that is the case then you are somehow blocking downloading and applying this font.
Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
If a new profile still has this issue then your security software might be blocking this font.

  • I cannot download Facebook and I don't have a blackberry world icon

I have just purchased a secondhand blackberry curve 8310 from ebay and I cannot download Facebook and I don't have a blackberry world icon on the home page. When I try to download facebook it says my device does not support this function. I have tried removing the battery while the phone is still on and registering via advanced options - host routing table, but no joy. Any suggestions?

    Hey sambrook,
    Welcome to the forums.
Here are the system requirements for Facebook for BlackBerry.
To use Facebook® for BlackBerry® smartphones, the following is required:
A wireless service data plan that supports SN applications
    Wi-Fi connectivity
A Facebook account (an account can be created from the app)
2.7 MB of available application memory
BlackBerry® Device Software v5.0 or later
If you are using a BlackBerry curve 8310 as listed in your profile then you most likely are not running Device Software version 5.0 or higher.
From your BlackBerry browser try to download Facebook by going to www.BlackBerry.com/Facebook and choose the options that says you do not have App World access.
Let us know how you make out.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these.

How Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
A few of the basic OS X installed applications can be restored from the Optional Installs installer located in the Optional installs folder on your Installer DVD.  However, if what you need is not there then follow the instructions below.
How to Use Pacifist to Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive.  Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items.  Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder. In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.)
Click on the  "Go" button ..... • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1.          In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b.          or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3.          In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4.          On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5.          Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned. 20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk. 0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package. 0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6.          Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7.          In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8.          If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9.          In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
    10.          If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
    11.          Type in your password, click “OK”
Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12.          In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes:          Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
    Stop
    Leave original alone
    Update .....
    Default selection
Replace .... (Replace option should only be used on full install packages)

  • System crash after deleting ".DS_Store" files?

My Finder view options were a bit messed up, so I decided to follow some online advice and delete all ".DS_Store" files on my MBP. I followed instructions on osxdaily.com. Specifically, I typed the following command into Terminal:
    sudo find / -name ".DS_Store" -depth -exec rm {} \;
After the command finished running I tried to restart the computer but it would just show the grey screen with the Apple logo and the progress indicator and not start up properly. I was able to run Disk Utility and verified the HDD. No errors were displayed. I chose "repair disk" anyway, but the computer still would not start up. Entering safe boot mode didn't work either. In the end, I chose to reinstall OSX 10.8 from the Internet. I didn't want to reinstall a backup from Time Machine because there were some files I hadn't backed up yet.
Fortunately my MBP seems to be working properly again, but what's weird is that I had to reinstall every single application. The application files were still present in the application folder but their icons were greyed out and they wouldn't launch.
Does anybody have any idea why this happened? Is it that dangerous to delete ".DS_Store" files? Should I use a different command? I would still like to get rid of those files so I can redefine a default view for all folders.
And is it normal that if I reinstall OSX I need to reinstall all applications as well?

Letting something arbitrarily delete every .DS_Store file on your computer invites bad things to happen.
Running rm is dangerous as is--letting it run rough-shod all over your computer is infinitely dangerous.
I don't know why there is a .DS_Store file  inside an app package, but removing it "damages" the App just as if some malicious code might write malware into the package. So, it is no mystery why they do not work anymore.
Deleting specific .DS_Store files in folders is not normally a problem.
If you have a problem in one folder that doesn't hold its settings, deleting the .DS_Store file is ok.
Here's how I would do it, though:
    Open the folder and Cmd-F.
If you don't already, use the Other... option in the Criteria popup to add the System Files and Visibility options to the criteria menu (check the box to include in men).
Set the Search criteria to System Files are included and Visibility is invisible.
Type ".DS_Store" in the search field. You should see the .DS_Store file for that folder at the top of the list, and then all the others in the subfolders.
You can delete it from there.

  • Playbook system icons lost

In checking the PB documentation about the dock function I moved the 6 icons currently displayed in the top row of the home screen (the "dock"??) into the home screen area below it, thus emptying this area.   When I tried to return the icons to the dock they simply disappeared.  Later I found 6 error messages in the "i" area at the top left of the screen that seemed to be related to each attempt to return the icons to their original positions.  I don't remember the details, but they contained the words "array_index" and "invalid".  This looks like a software bug. I've lost 4 system icons (Browser, DocsToGo, Music, Weather) and 2 other links. Using the file manager applications, I've searched for a possible way to get these icons back without success.  While I can access documents and music through the file manager(s), I've found no way to re-activate the browser.  I assume that it's only the shortcut icons that have been lost (deleted?) and not the actual applications.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this.  I assume it means doing a full backup (30 GB of data), security wipe then reloading the OS, but I'd rather avoid that if at all possible.

It's counter-intuative but move any icons in the Dock to the vacant Home screen until the Dock is also empty of icons... Now move them back to the Dock. As you do so, they will each disappear and a notification alert icon (excalmation mark on white disc background) about an array error is displayed in the top right of the screen. Ignore this alert and do the same for all the icons in the Home  screen until they have all been similarly "disappeared". Eventually, the Dock and Home screen will be devoid of any icons at all.
Now, restart your PB and you should find all previously missing icons are restored to the Dock and Home screen..
Do report back to this thread !
