  • BlackBerry Theme Studio 6.. frusterating!!

i downloaded BlackBerry Theme Studio to my computor, and it starts the Windows Wizard setup program, and does everything like it should, and then promts me a message asking if i would like to restart my computor. i restart it, and the first thing that pops up when it comes back is
"there was a problem starting (displays file name)
the specified module could not be found"
any help would be great! thanks!

I've been using it to create my own themes.  I can't remember if I had to specify a company name, title, etc. but if I did.... I just simply made something up.
I also vaguely remember something about configuring the program / pc as a host which I chose not to do.
The version I'm running right now is 5.0.  Thus far, I've only used it to change the home and lock displays on my Tour.  The program gives you the ability to customize your BB as you see fit, but there are instances where you want to change something and it's not as intuitive as some would like.
My experience has been that .png files render excellent images on the display as long as one takes the time necessary to reduce an original image into a high quality image with the proper screen resolution supported by the BB Tour.  To do so, I use Adobe Photoshop.
Regardless, any such issues can be resolved "if" one has the patience and desire to make the required changes, and take the time necessary to "fully" learn the program.
I've been in the computer industry since the time of "punched cards" until now at age 52.
I no longer have the disire to spend hours on end to learn each and every facet of a program such that I can make each and every icon on a Blackberry appear as I would like to see it.
Yes I'm one of those ppl that fired up a pc when most others were just laying down to go to sleep.
My "EX" once said... "You love you computer more than you love me."  My answer was....  "Yeah, you're right b/c my computer does what I tell it to do and doesn't talk back!"
Theme Studio is a good program, only if you're willing to put the time and effort into learning every aspect of the program that will allow you to customize your BB as you see fit.
Like the previous poster stated....  Give it a try.
Only you can decide what's right for you.

  • Steps to take if BlackBerry is not shown as connected in Desktop Manager for Mac

    Hello Community,
Here is a list of steps you should attempt to try and get your BlackBerry detected in Desktop Manager for Mac.
    1. Make sure you're using the most up to date BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac.  Which is available to download at http://www.blackberry.com/desktop
    2. If using a MacBook/MacBook Pro make sure the BlackBerry is plugged in the left USB port close to the screen.  If using a iMac make sure you use the USB ports on the Mac and not a USB hub.
    3. Make sure you're using a BlackBerry branded USB cord.  (There are usb cords out there for charging only).
    4. Make sure mass storage mode is enabled on your BlackBerry smartphone. KB Article.
    5. Disable Media Transport Protocol on your BlackBerry smartphone. (Options>Memory)
    6. Make sure your Mac OS X 10.6 is running in 32-bit mode. KB Article.
    7. Make sure ALL other syncing software has been uninstalled and removed off your Mac.  KB Article.
    8. Perform a battery reset on your BlackBerry smartphone. KB Article.
    9. Make sure your BlackBerry smartphone is not hour-glassing or have an application error appearing on the LCD screen. However if there is a JVM 507/513 error appearing on the BlackBerry the Desktop Manager for Mac will pick up the device and reload the software.
    10. Make sure "Open using Rosetta" is not running/disabled on Mac OS X. KB Article.
I will be adding more tips and tricks to this post once I come across them.
Feel free to share with other community members and I always welcome suggestions and comments.

    Hey burko74,
Do you have a media card in your BlackBerry? If so, do you get prompt for mass storage mode?
Also does the mac pick up the media card as a removable hard drive?
Have you tried to do a battery reset as well?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Sun Ray Server Software and Sun Desktop Manager integration

    Hello,
I have installed and configured SRSS and Desktop Manager..and they're working.
    But... how to integrate them?...

Will the Sun Ray Server Software 1.2 for Workgroup
Servers work on a Sun Blade 100?Yes, it'll work. An SB100 won't support many
concurrent Sun Ray users but it'll be OK for a
handful of users doing normal (non-multimedia)
work. Put as much physical memory into the box
as you can afford, and remember to configure an
    appropriate amount of swap.

  • Windows 7 - Outlook Calendar - and BB Desktop Manager

Everythig was fine until one day..........
I installed Windows 7, and Microsoft 2007 including Outlook.
My BB Curve 8330 using the Desktop manager (no media manager, actually I tried both) does not sync my calendar from Device >>to>> Desktop.  It syncs my memo pad, task, and contacts but not my calendar. I've checked all the program associations on the BB manager and it all seems to be set up fine. HELP!!!

I have a BlackBerry Bold (9000) and I am having the same problem. I am using Desktop Manager 4.7 with Windows 7 x64 RC (build 7100).
Everything synchronizes fine, except the calendar. If I uncheck everything in the synchronization options and just leave the calendar checked, when it starts to synchronize, it doesn't do anything.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts!!
    Thanks!!

  • ICal data and BB Desktop Manager

Hey there, I have an issue with BlackBerry Desktop Manager. First, in order to get the most out of my Curve 8330 I set up my device calendar to keep data for 60 days, thinking that it wouldn't affect my computer's data. But now I'm trying to sync my BB to my iMac and a sync alert window pops up saying that 5% or more of data on computer will be deleted. Here's my question, is there a way to set up BB Desktop so my iMac will win the conflict? If not what should I do. I want to keep the data on my iCal!! Anyone has the same problem? Or am I just not getting it? Thanks.

Well I'm pretty sure I resolved or rather patched my problem. Changed the advanced setting in the calendar pane to only future events and it seems to be working fine.

  • Sycronize problem with 8120 pearl and BB Desktop Manager

Hi I recently tried to sync my BB with my laptop to update the calendar but it failed.  I have done this in the past and had no problems.  The error message displayed is "unable to read application data" This happens when the desktop manager is tranferring the address book it gets to 87 out of 90 and the message pops up which then stops the sync from continuing and I have not got the added calendar appointments that I wanted.  I have tried resetting my phone by taking the battery out but no luck.  Nothing has changed on either laptop software or phone software they are both running the same versions as when it worked previously.  Any Suggestions?

Thanks, I had already found the solution and you are correct. I had just forgot to come back and mark this as solved. Thanks for the assistance.

  • LATEST DESKTOP MANAGER FOR MAC DOES NOT WORK!!!

I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 and an iMac running 10.6.4 with the latest Blackberry Desktop for Mac (v1.0.4 build 10) that just came out August 2010 and it will NOT allow me to update the handheld software either.  It is for a different reason. It says I don't have enough memory on my handheld, but that does not make any sense since I have totally wiped my handheld.
Is RIM every going to figure this software out??  Years in the making and they still can't get a functioning software app for the Mac !

  • Difference between pocket mac and new desktop manager?

i use pocket mac and its fine for my bberry contacts, etc.should i change to the new software?

I agree with deepblade.   I know a few people who downloaded the software without reading all the instuctions, or without doing a complete uninstall of pocketmac.  Also some people didn't not check the proper sync services to make sure their device was being seen.
For me pocketmac never worked and completely screwed up my contacts.
Although DM is not perfect, IMHO, its 10 times better than pocket mac.
For those claiming they are going to run out an buy an iphone, get over yourselves.  There is no perfect device or associated software that works 100% out the gate everytime for everyone.
I'm sure when DTM for the PC was introduced there were issues.  RIM seems to have teh PC version under control and people seem happy.  I'm new (6 weeks) to blackberry/RIM but I like my device and I would like to give them a chance and I hope they are reading this board and people are calling/email with issues so that they can be addressed/correct ASAP!

  • BlackBerry 10 support for desktop manager ASAP!!!

Hi. My work just upgraded my phone and to the 4G EE network two weeks ago and initially got a Nokia limit (as they BBC10 hadn't launched) but as windows phone 8 didn't support outlook sync and I've been a loyal blackberry user for years, we sent the last phone back as I knew the new blackberry 10 was coming out and loved desktop manager for its usability with outlook so I assumed I would be able to sync my work contacts with the new blackberry Z10.
How utterly disjointed that blackberry 10 doesn't support desktop manager and blackberry link does sync with outlook. The old Research in Motion would never have wanted to alienate their loyal followers. But this is the new Blackberry. Microsoft did the same thing when they stopped supporting activsync on windows phone with their own software but I never thought blackberry would follow them.
Will desktop manager be upgraded soon to blackberry 10 or shall I send my new Z10 back along with WP8 and get an I Phone or Android device!
I can't believe I demanded the new blackberry now!

    Your right!!
Blackberry should just shut the door and turn the lights out, the lack of ability to sync with outlook is the last straw. My Z10 arrives in 3 hours and isn't even going to be unwrapped and is going straight back. I'll keep my 9800 till it dies and then get something else, why should anyone of us as customers accept a backward step..

  • Desktop Manager issue

    Hello,
I noticed something, that everytime i connect my blackberry torch to my pc, and open desktop manager, the internet connection at my pc turns off automatically, and i cant reconnect to my wifi signal, and when i exit desktop manager then i can cpnnect to the wifi and use the internet normally.
    what could be the issue?
    Regards,

I had a similar issue as well. What worked for me was to delete applications from the Applications list in Desktop Manager. I had several entries for similar .cod files that my .alx was referencing.
Here is what I did to remove the apps from the Application List
    1.  Win7/Vista users   Click Start and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
WinXP, previous    Click Start, run and type regedit.exe and hit "Enter"
This will cause the "Registry Editor" to open.
    2.   Using the Folder Tree on the left window pane, navigate to the following:
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Research in Motion > Blackberry > Loader > Packages
    3.    Once you've selected the "Packages" Folder, on the right pane will be displayed the base (install) names of any files/programs you have installed onto your Blackberry device.
    4.   Select the ones that you no longer want to be displayed and hit the "Delete" Key. (You can also right-click the key and select "Delete"
    5.   Repeat Step 4 until all the unwanted programs are gone.
I know this post is old but maybe someone who runs into this 2 years from now (like I did) will be able to reference it and prevent searching for hours to fix it.
    Cheers,.

Working means that the software is trying to communicate with the device. If it never changes from working then something is wrong. Try rebooting your PC and the BlackBerry. If that doesn't help then remove and reinstall the latest Desktop Manager.

  • Desktop manager wants to delete calendar appointments in both bb and outlook.

I have had my bb 8330 since last August.  I have had to delete and reinstall desktop manager multiple times due to various problems.  Recently I sync'd and lost appointments in both the bb and in outlook.  DM will not allow me to override the flagging to delete.  I deleted DM and reinstalled the newest version with media, attempted to resync and it still wants to delete.  Currently I have 40+ appointments in the bb that are not in outlook (they had been at some point).  I also have appointments in Outlook that the sync wants to delete from the bb.  On top of this, I have lost contacts I didn't realize until I tried to use them (appear to have been deleted by the bb from my outlook).
The "Details to confirm calendar edits" window box in desktop manager allows clicking to view the entry but does not allow me to override the status of either delete or add so I cannot change the deletions to additions, etc.
I looked in the options in DM to see if there was a place where I could change a setting which would allow me to override the status but couldn't find anything.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Otherwise I think the only way to fix it is to write down all of my appointments in both the bb and outlook, attempt a sync and re-enter all the appointments again.  Time consuming!!  And if I need to do that I may as well go back to a hardcopy calendar.
A friend suggested that if there is too much data in the bb that it will only keep the newest entries and maybe that is why I have lost some data.
So, along those lines can someone tell me how to do a mass delete of e-mails on the bb directly?  I know how to delete one e-mail but cannot figure out how to flag more than one.
    Thanks!  motomom3

on the device if you open messages, highlight the newest one you want to delete, click menu button, and click delete prior, this will delete eveything older than it.
if you plug into DTM, goto backup/restore - advanced... you can completely clear the messages database
what DTM and device sofwtare do you have?
    DTM- help-about
device- options- about, 3rd line down, v4.x.x.x
you can go to c:\documents and settings\(your username)\research in motion\blackberry\   and delete the intellisync folder
then go in and setup sync settings again

  • Blackberry desktop manager wont detect blackberry

i have looked everywhere for a solution to my problem and i simply cannot find a fix. my blackberry curve 8520 wont connect to my desktop manager. i have tried everything i could think of however nothing has proven successful.
here is what i have so far done:
    -reinstalled desktop manager
-installed latest update for desktop manager
    -installed drivers for blackberry
    -checked usb cable and ports
-made sure desktop manager was set to usb
-pulled the battery on the blackberry (power cycled)
    -restarted my computer
i believe this is everythign i have currently tried, i am running 64x ultimate windows 7 and my computer does recognise that a blackberry is put in as everytime i do so a ballon at the bottom om my screen says a blackberry has been detected and gives it a drive name and such. it is also charging which ensures enough power is being delievered to the blackberry. i do not have another computer to try the desktop manager on. if anyone has a fix to this issue please respond asap as help would be very much appreciated.
