Blackberry torch blank screen

Hope someone can help me, my daughter has had her torch since December,2012 noticed a problem with her slider last week, and then the screen went blank. ..She took it to carphone warehouse, who sent it off for repair.  They have come back and said that it is customer damage, based on their is a few scuff marks, from normal wear and tear. I went in the shop today, and the manager is not budging from this and they want £168 to repair it. ... She said she has not dropped it recently, surely, it is still covered by manufactures warranty.   Is there any other options for me to try, this phone is on a 2 year contract,  So now going to be paying for another 15 months with no phone.   please help,

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
Based on what you now know from the above links, you also can surmise that there is no way, at an internet distance, to provide you with any diagnosis of your issues nor to second guess the evaluation you have received. What you describe indeed sounds like a hardware issue...but whether it is defect or damage is something that cannot possibly be diagnosed at an internet distance. If you don't trust those who have so far given you an evaluation and estimate, then you should seek out another local (to you) shop to give you a second opinion. But such second opinions, at our internet distance, would be quite impossible to render.

It indeed is...as long as that warranty has not been voided. From the evaluation you have reported, it sounds like sadly that is the case. But, again, from those first links I gave you, you now know what exactly your manufacturers warranty means (it's not a contract between you and BlackBerry, but rather between you and your original place of purchase).
Cheers, and Good Luck!

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 screen dont show up

Hello, I have a weird problem with my blackberry torch 9810, all the lights from the kerboard and the 4 button (call, blackberry button, return button and turn off button) are on and also, the green light LED is on too but the SCREEN doesn't show up. If anyone knows what the problem and how to fix it please tell.

OK, it appears that your phone is not going to boot properly.  The important thing to do now is to get it to connect to BlackBerry Desktop Software (available at www.blackberry.com/desktop if you don't have it installed yet on your PC).  Plug your phone in to your PC, open BDS and wait for your phone to connect.  The software might detect that you don't have a proper OS loaded to your phone.  Whatever message you get, please post back with it and we'll take it from there.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Blackberry 9800 blank screen

My newly purchased Blackberry 9800 has just gone blank. I'm so sure it's not a battery problem because I have tried other batteries. It just happened abruptly. There was no physical damage to the device. The device, fully charged has been on, and when I tried making a call later in the day, I found a blank screen. When I did a hard reset, the screen remained blank with the indicator light beaming red for a few seconds, and then flashes red light four times at rhythmic interval. Please, what is the issue and how can it be quickly resolved?

    Hi don7g,
Do you have access to a computer with the BlackBerry® Desktop Software installed? If so, is the BlackBerry® Desktop Software able to connect with your BlackBerry® smartphone?
If it is, please try to back up your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software.
For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.
For Windows® "How to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows" http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U
Please test to make sure the issue has been resolved before restoring any data from your backup file.
If the BlackBerry® Desktop Software is unable to connect with your BlackBerry® smartphone, I would advise trying to force a detection by starting a BlackBerry® Device Software reload without your battery inserted. For further steps, please see the following KB articles:
For Windows® : "How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader" http://bbry.lv/IAfXWd
For Mac: "Unable to application load a BlackBerry smartphone showing JVM 507 or JVM 513 using BlackBerry Desktop Software" http://bbry.lv/J0V8BH
Please note that the last process will remove all data from your BlackBerry® smartphone.
Since it is not detected by your computer, you will not be able to backup your data first. If you have a previously taken backup file, you can restore your data from that backup.

  • Please help! Blackberry Torch 8610 stuck in white blank screen!

    sorry for my bad english..
    i'm indonesian ^^
before this problem happends, about 3 days ago i've got an error message saying built in media got an error so must repair it or wipe it.. i tried to repair it, but it keeps saying built in media repair failed. so i wipe it..
but, a couple of seconds after i click wipe built in media, my blackberry reboots by itself..
after it finished rebooting, my blackberry tells me built in media got an error again.
and i tried to wipe it again but my blackberry still rebooting it self again.
this happends  4 times in a row.
and then, when the fourth reboot finished, i tried to wipe it again..
and yes, the blackberry still rebooting itself again.
but, this time, my blackberry didn't finish rebooting, the loading bar stuck in 3/4 of the bar.
its stuck like that for 3 half days.
i tried to fix it with app updater, but its still stuck in 3/4 of the bar.
so today i tried to fix it with JL_cmder
i tried to restore it to factory default.. but it keeps failed connecting to the device..
the third time i tried, it got a white blank screen when reaching the 3/4 loading bar..
    please help..
i would really appreciate your help.

Download BBSAK onto your computer. Connect your phone to the computer and close out BlackBerry Desktop Software as soon as it opens. Then start BBSAK and do the wipe from there. You should get a screen saying there is no OS. At this point you should be able to install the OS either from BBSAK or from the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Try it and report back.

  • If your BlackBerry Torch Screen Goes Black --- Read this!

Recently, my BlackBerry Torch screen went black. The phone was still active, but I couldn't see anything on the screen. Opening and closing the screen slowly, pulling the battery, or standing on my head and begging the phone to work didn't enable the screen.
After a lot of searches, I finally realized my screen was not going to come back on and that this is a rampant problem. I've since made the leap to an iPhone 4s. I still had many photos and videos of my children on my BB; including custom ring tones my son made for my contacts. In short, information I wanted. This was an Enterprise activated BB that was protected by a password. Inspite of this, I was able to get everything off the phone very simply.
I downloaded and installed the BlackBerry Desktop Manager (mentioned in some of the posts). I was able to connect my device. The software provided the password challenge via my PC and I was able to log into the phone. I then used Windows Explorer to search every folder and remove all the photos, videos, and ring tones I wanted. The only thing I didn't salvage were my texts; not a big loss.
In summary, if your screen goes black, contact your provider for a replacement. While you are waiting for a replacement, install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and get all your personal information off. And above all, DON'T PANIC! There is hope

  • When my iPhone 5s is paired with my 2014 Lexus Rx350 I am able to view text messages but cannot view email messages in the car display screen. My previous Blackberry Torch would read both text and email messages. Does anybody know how to fix?

When I pair my new iPhone 5S in my 2014 Lexus it displays and allows me to read the SMS messages off my phone on the car display but it does not display or allow me to read email messages. When pairing my previous Blackberry Torch the car displayed and allowed me to read both. Lexus have told me it is an Apple problem and not a Lexus problem which may be true as the BB phone worked great. Does anybody know if Apple is planning an iPhone update for this?

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

  • My Blackberry Torch 9580 is unusable. Please help!!!!

    Hi,
I am using a Blackberry Torch 9580, It us creating multiple problems for past one week. The phone went completely unusable now. :-(
I have Updated my OS from 7.0 to 7.1 some 15 days back. The phone was perfectly ok after update and was working fine. Here the problem started. My phone started freezing anonymously. When i open a SMS/E-Mail it freezes. When i Try sending messages in Whats app, it freezes. Every time i have to pull the battery and put it back again. This happened very frequently and on repeated battery pull it started showing "Built-in Media Error". At starting when i hit on Repair it successfully repairs and things get fine. again after some few hours the phone freezes. Again battery pull :-(
Really got tired on doing this every time. After a day, when i pull the battery and rebooted it again showed me the "Built-in Media Error". Now the new problem started here is when i hit or repair it started freezing. Got totally fed up and refered to BB forms. Then i decided to wipe my device. I did a security wipe. It went all blank white screen with no error message. Then i followed the steps given in one of the post. Removed my battery, connected my phone to Desktop manager and successfully updated my phone with a fresh OS. Phone came up. I left for a day, it was fine working. So i uodated my appworld, FB ect and rebooted my Phone. Again the freezing problem and getting stuck in reboot cycle started. Finally decided to downgrade my OS to 7.0. So wiped again using BBSAK and installed 7.0 OS. Now my phone doesnt boot. Gets freezed in the reboot cycle at 80% or 90%. Not even getting in.
Sorry for such a Bigger post.. I am totally frustrated :-( Please anyone help me... I want my phone alive back...... Please HELP!!!

    Hi Prabhurk,
    Welcome to Blackberry community forums
I had faced this media error in past, did you removed your memory card? Try to change memory card. Sometimes it happens when the memory card was not good,  I faced it until i changed memory card to new one in past.
Follow the installation steps from apploader once again. Please make sure to check ur control panel if you have any other versions of os bundles, delete them and install new update and go thru process

  • Unsatisfied Blackberry Torch User

Hello, I've been a loyal blackberry costumer for the past 10 years.  Every phone I've purchased was a blackberry.  I never had a single problem with them and they always outlasted my contract with bell mobility allowing me to upgrade to a new blackberry phone without a hassle.  When my last contract was up I decided to wait a couple months and purchased the blackberry torch.  I even pad the extra $200 that was needed to buy the phone off bell mobility because I was so excited for the phones release.
That was back in September 2010.  It is now April 2012 and I've been having problems with my torch for months.   In the middle of December my track pad stopped working and although it became a mild hassle, I continued to use the phone, the touch screen making it manageable.  Last month the entire send/end bar stopped working along with the track pad, making it even more frustrating to use my phone.  Two weeks ago my screen began to freeze whenever the Blackberry torch was slid open and would only refresh once it was closed.  I type most of my documents and emails using the keyboard and in the first year never even used the touchscreen keyboard so as you can guess this was a big problem for me. As cumbersome as it was I've been able to manage, that is until earlier this week.  Now when I open the phone the screen just goes blank and when I close it to refresh it, the phone locks and everything I typed using the keyboard was either not received or input into the password line to unlock the phone again.  I consider this unacceptable that after only a year and a half the phone has become completely useless to me.
For Christmas I bought each of my five family members blackberry playbooks and blackberry phones.  This made it it easier to communicate and allowed us to use the video chat feature that we were all excited about.  This is really the only reason that I've kept this phone and unfortunately in the last few months I've went from an avid blackberry enthusiast, encouraging all my friends and family to buy blackberry, to using my sisters old apple phone and changing the subject whenever blackberry is brought up in to the conversation.  I'd like to return to being a blackberry enthusiast, however after the events that have taken place with my torch I just can't do so and if nothing can be done for me I'll be changing phone manufacturers within the week.   So as a final cry to you, the manufacturer that has brought me joy and success with my mobile electronics for the past decade,  is there anything you can do to help continue to be a loyal blackberry costumer?

I concur with knottyrope.  BlackBerry devices are sturdy and they do last.  I'm on my 5th BlackBerry and I wouldn't have stayed around if they weren't worth it.
I say:  Hang in there.  Fix the problems that crop up (which, incidentally, you'll find with any phone manufacturer) and stay with us!
FYI, I, too, am not a RIM employee, nor do I get paid for this.  I do it because I believe in the brand and I love it!

  • Battety problems - blank screen wit battery sign with red line

I have the blackberry 8900 curve. Recently when I put my phone on charge it would turn my BB off and turn it self back on again. My battery was about 2% and I put it on charge and the phone turned off but when I looked at my phone the red light came on and then blank screen with a battery sign with a red line through it.
I got some advice to take out battery, sim card and memory card. Which I did and my BB turned back on. However my battery was still dead so I put it back on charge and it turned off and since then my BB hasn't turned back in. I've left it on charge and nothing.
Would really appreciate it if someone could help me out on this.

  • Blank screen showing battery sign with red line - possible solution

    Hi to everybody,
I had a little issue with my Blackberry curve 8350i, but I think this might go with several models. One day my Blacberry updated an application and restarted, but when restarting suddenly I got a blank screen showing a battery sign with a red line. I took out the battery and put it in again, but no luck. I searched on many forums if anyone experienced the same as me. I found a lot of topics but no solution. I called tech support of my service provide and fortunatelly I talked to a tech guy who was willing to help. He said that this error message usually might appear when the battery is faulty, not original (not my case) or device is not working, but before taking a final statement he wanted me to try something first. He said to take out the battery, the SIM card and any extern memory card. Then to clean any contacts with air. I followed his instructions and after that the device worked again without any problems. I would like to share this experience on this forum maybe this will help other to to solve similar issues.
    Best regards,
    Julix

  • Blank screen after update to 10.3.1

I have a Z10 which has a totally blank screen now.... not quite sure what is going on as the backlight works, but nothing is coming up on the screen.
I have connected it to Link and even tried downgrading the software... but still nothing... I got an autoloader of 10.3.1 and everything seems to upload fine Link just says that it is in setup mode and to finish that on the device...
I would love to... but the screen is totally blank.  I took the cover off to check the screen connections..... that seems to be fine....
I am at a loss..... any thoughts?

An update on this one... I guess I have the same problem as the Z30's... I was EXTREMELY impressed by Blackberry and Rogers for a very brief moment when they gave me a code for a swap out at a store... so I went to the store and they couldn't figure out what to do so I had to call back Rogers... all in I am 6 hours into the phones with Rogers.
I guess they are just directing everyone to BB for this issue even though none of us can use our phones.  I am told that because I am out of warranty (a one year warranty) that I am up a creek....
Interesting as this update was pushed to our phones and that caused the issue... not anything that I did at all.
For shame Blackberry... I am giving one more chance for something good to happen... this is my.... oh goodness.... 8th Blackberry?  Loyal since the trackball =)  Perhaps its time to end this relationship...
Step up and fix this issue PLEASE!!!!!

  • BLACKBERRY TORCH 9800

Hello everyone. A few days ago the screen of my blackberry torch 9800 stopped working, if i switch on my phone the keyboard and the red light on the too of the screen work, but the screen stays black. I would like to know if somebody else had this problem and if i have to change the entire screen to solve it or there's something else i can do. Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Failing that, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may indeed have a hardware problem...for which no amount of OS or Software level "fixes" can be of any use.
Nevertheless, you may want to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
