Blackberry Torch Charger Port broken, battery drained?

My charging port is somewhat broken  on my blackberry torch (I have to put the charger at a certain angle for it to charge and readjust every few minutes). I wa sjust wondering if there is anything I can buy that would let me charge just the battery and not have to go through the usb port.
Also, I was able to fully charge my phone, and I turned it off for the night, but when I turned it back on, the battery was almost completely drained! Is my battery discharged? (Ive had my phone for about a year)

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
RIM provides zero front line support to end users, including warranty...all support starts with the carriers, authorized resellers, and authorized service centers, all who can escalate cases into RIM at no charge to the end user...the specific place to seek warranty support varies by region, but you should have received documentation, when you originally obtained your BB, as to what your warranty level is and how to seek support.
If your original service provider was also your original place of purchase, then I'm pretty sure they should still service your warranty for the hardware itself...but I'm not quite positive on that point...it seems logical, but they told you they will not help you...maybe you need to escalate with them beyond their front line folks and to someone in management who can properly evaluate your situation.

  • Can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

Actually, the bb charger is a 5V, 750 mA charger (which would make it a 3.75W charger vs the 5W that Apple sells for the iPod). Therefore, I would think that my bb charger should work for both bb and iPod, but would charge the iPod at a slower rate, with little harm done to the gadget, but I defer to any opinion that would suggest otherwise?

When I plug my iPad up to charge it says not charging, and my battery drains very quickly what can I do to fix?

There are two different types of adapters by Apple that look similar. One is a 5 Watt adapter used with iPhones and iPods. The other is a 10 Watt adapter used with the iPad. Other than looking at the text on the adapter, which is hard to read, you can tell the different by looking at the socket the pin part plugs into the adapter. The 5 Watt has two notches and the 10 Watt has only one notch.
Make sure you use the 10 Watt adapter with an iPad.

  • MacBook Charger Port broken?

So recently I purchased a 13" MacBook pro. Unfortunately... my charger somehow crushed one of the pins of the charger port and now my MacBook won't charge.
At the top of my Mac, it says "Not Charging" and no matter what way you move the charger it won't charge because of that one crushed pin.
Can this be fixed? Or will I have to forever have this broken MacBook that I can't take anywhere because I can't use it unless it's plugged in....
Oh and I have the 3 year warrenty.

If you can't charge it then you need to take it to Apple and get the socket fixed, once your battery goes flat that's the end of any use so there's no point trying to struggle on this way.

  • MacBook pro 13" charger port broken any tips to repair?

Hey guys, I have a mid 2010 MacBook pro and the charger port has broken and won't take any charge at all. There's 5 little pins inside the port and pin 1 and pin 5 seem to have had the caps taken off them or something. I'm unsue what the cause was but can anyone tell me if this is repairable? And how much it's likely to cost?

If you have AppleCare the repairs will be covered under its warranty.  However, if the repair techs consider the damage "accidental" you will be responsible for the cost of the repairs.
No one here can tell you how much it will cost.  You will need to ask the repair shop about the cost and/or provide you with an estimate.
If you do not have AppleCare and want to DIY, do a Google search, research YouTube's "How To" video tutorials and Do-It-Yourself Laptop Repair

  • Plugged in my new iPhone to charge before letting battery drain to 0%. Did I ruin it?

I plugged in my new iPhone 6 to charge before letting the battery drain to 0%. It was at about 86% when I plugged it in to my computer to restore everything from my previous phone and then left it to charge to 100%. Will my battery be ruined because of my failure to let it drain before charging it? Pls help!!

You aren't supposed to let it drain fully before charging it - in fact, repeatedly doing so can damage the battery.
Charge it whenever it is convenient for you. Try to avoid running it all the way out unless necessary.
Apple does recommend running it out about once per month, and you can also run it to 0% if the battery gauge seems to be incorrect.

  • N97 charger port broken

I am in desperate need of help.... just broke the USB charging port on my phone and need a replacement. I called Nokia and since the phone is out of warranty they will not repair it even if I was willing to pay. I have tried to search online for replacement parts but unsure what part is the correcet replacement as some company doesnt list any picture of the product or if its pictured its not the same as my phone....
    Appreciate any help provided.....
    thanks
    Tony

@danspy: I would call or form a complaint to Nokia uk explaining the situation. Writing an objective letter/mail or call them might help you out.
I've experienced my self that a Nokia care point has done similar to my N95 8gb I had in the past. A quick call with a decent tone, made them recall the device and fix it again with no further questions.
I actually experienced once that there where sesame seeds in under the lince protective glass on it from one of the repair guys' lunch!
Mostly I've only had pleasant experience with Nokia care points.
Make a call or form a objective complaint. You might try to use the contact us button on the top of this page too. My suggestion is that you wait with any rant before you've got the first response.
    Cheers!

  • V5 572 Charger port broken

Hi All, UK owner here. I've had my V5-572 for a couple of months now, but this morning when I went to plug my laptop into charge, I noticed that the connection was physically very loose, it used to 'click' in but now it can easily just fall out. Also, I have to wiggle the charger around to get a good electrical connection and get the thing charging. By eye, it looks like it's the thin metal pin on the laptop inside the charging port that is off-centre and could be almost snapped off. Obviously this is not ideal, does anyone know if this is covered in my warrenty and if so, how long does the repair process take? Thanks a lot.

  • Blackberry 9300 charger port had come out

I purchased a blackberry curve 9300 on the 14th February 2011. I opened a new 24 month contract specifically to get a blackberry. On the 2nd March 2012, so just Over a year, my hanger port has come out of my handset, hence i cannot charge it. I took it to orange, my network provider, to be told they can't do anything as its over my 12 month warranty. I asked if I could get it repaired to be told that it cannot be repaired!!!!! This leaves me paying a £25 contract for another year without a phone to use it in. Can anyone tell me the actual RIM email address because I seem to be getting nowhere, surely blackberry can offer a good will replacement for something that is a manufacturing fault!!

PLEASE help as soon as possible, i can't get onto my phone and i need it urgently. Thanks Very much

  • USB charging port broken

I have to move my chord a specific place or push it in a different way each time to get the connection to charge my playbook. i've been informed it most likely needs to be sent in to be soldered to be fixed... i don't know where to contact anywhere to send it in or anything! help!!!

Just for future reference, and sanity invest in a rapid charger to prevent this problem. Since the rapid charger uses the magnetic contacts.

  • Update install leads to slow charge and battery drain

What's with the slow charge and fast battery drain after the update install?

I did a factory reset 2 Apr, the phone battery seems to be back to normal, but I guess time will tell. I still haven’t tested all functions but for the most part the S5 is back.

  • Broken Charging Port

    Hi,
I am with Bell. Last year i had boughten my first bb in April, a blackberry Style.
Four months later the charging port broke. First it started off that I needed to have the cable on a certain angle to charge then it stopped working altogether.
I sent my phone away to be repaired and it was returned "un repairable" and "damage was caused due to dropping" which was absolutely not true being that I am incredibly careful with my devices and I kept a hard case on it that I went to the states specifically for and also only had it for 4 months!
Needless to say I was furious with this answer, especially since Blackberry or Bell did notthing but tell me I needed to buy a new one because it was not covered in my warranty.
After my contract is up with Bell I will be switching to Rogers and possibly switching to Team IPhone (unfortunately) if i cannot find a good blackberry or a solution to my broken BB Style.
    Someone help me.

Our BB Style had this same problem. We went to the store and were told it was probably corrosion in the battery terminal but because it was a BB it couldn't even be looked at in store and had to be sent out and would cost at least $100 to fix (even thought we pay Sprint $8/month for insurance).
They were so interested in discouraging us to get it fixed and telling us that if it were water or something we would have to pay the full replacement value ($600) for the phone. He kept trying to sell us a new iPhone and their were no other BB phones to even demo in the store.
We went to a Radio Shack and wound up getting a lower price iPhone but are upset that BB wasn't represented in almost any store and were told our insurance was worthless.
Is this the type of relationship BB wants with its field sales force?
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It does sound like whoever you spoke to was very poorly trained. But do be advised that the shop you went to was not a RIM store...it was a Sprint store, and they are a separate entity from RIM. They contract to sell BBs and BB services, but they are not RIM. So, it sounds like, if you wish to pursue a complaint path, that path would be with Sprint, would it not?
But, perhaps you wish for RIM to notice this issue...if that's your goal, I hope it's attained here. Just be aware that these forums are a user-to-user community, not a user-to/from-RIM formal communication channel.
    Good luck!
