BlackBerry User Tools install hang

Put in the cd on a Dell Dimension 630 Laptop running XP and click 'start' on the Cd and it brings up a new 'blank' window with BlackBerry User Tools up in the top left corner and nothing else. Just hangs there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

  • Problem with Blackberry user tools cd

Hello, please help, i just got a Blackberry 8100 from Ebayusa and the user tools CD that was sent with it has something else recorded on it. Which software do i need to download please?
    Many thanks.

Assuming you're using the Facebook app for the iPhone, this is something you'll need to take up with Facebook, as they developed the app. Apple has nothing to do with that (other than making it available on the App Store), and "we" on these forums are just users like you.
If you go to the Facebook app on the App Store, you'll find a link to contact the developer for support.

  • Blackberry User Tools Disc

Hey folks. I just have a question about the user tools disc.
If I download the info from that disc into my desktop pc and then decide to later change my device, is it easy to uninstall whatever downloads from that disc from my computer? Or will a lot of info be imbeded into my pc? The reason I ask is because I just got a new pc and my Blackberry in my opinion is due for an upgrade and I'm not really sure if I will stay with Blackberry. I like my device and it was my first smartphone but I go prepaid and right now there are some really good prepaid devices on the market so I am just undecided at this time. Not to mention that Blackberry has not put out another device in the prepaid market other than the Curve 8530 that I am aware of...
    Thanks

    Hello Huntmarv,
You should be able to download the BlackBerry Desktop Software and anything else required on the disk from the following location:

  • Blackberry user tools locks up computer

    Running Vista Home addition w/SP2
Computer has an Intel T6400 @ 2 Ghz.; 4GB ram; 64 bit system.
    BB : tour
Inserted the disk and ran set-up.  Locked up the computer big big big time.  Couldn't even shut it down using task manager.  At first I  thought  there was something wrong with the  disk.  Had  to manually shut down the computer.  The next time it started it I received the message "Windows could not start the computer.  Will try to locate a solution."  It managed to start the computer but the settings for programs and even data within programs was kaput.  Took 2 days to get everything back in  order so you can imagine my apprehension of repeating the process.  I see others iin this group have had similar problems.  Frankly to have one of  the biggest advantages of a Blackberry compromised by crap software is disturbing.
I saw suggestions in this group about downloading DTM 5.0.  My question is it comes with and without Media Manager and I have no idea which one to download and install.

I would suggest the verion withOUT the Media Manager. The MM seems to be a large bloated software not really needed.

  • Error 2738 on Window XP Home Edition when loading Blackberry User Tools

Uhg, I am so frustrated!  I received an internal error 2738, could not access VBscript when I tried to load the software with my new Blackberry Curve 8330 Smartphone.  I tried registering the vbscript.dll file and received an error DllregisterServer in vbscript.dll failed. Return code was: 0x80004005.  I have tried to register as the administrator by following these directions: click on the start button then click on run then type cmd and press enter. From the command prompt type cd\ , then type cd windows\system32, then type regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press enter.  It didn't work either.  Does anyone have any idea how I can get the darn software on my computer!

don' be frustrated anymore ! Just read :

  • Will I mess up my configuration on my BlackBerry 8830 if I load the User Tools CD?

I noticed I could not charge my BlackBerry from the USB and somewhere in the docs read that it would work if you load the User Tools CD.  My question is that my BB has been set up by our IT section, and when I started to run the User Tools CD it asked me what configuration I wanted (BES).  If I go ofrward will it kill my present information on my BlackBerry?

It won't kill your info on the BB but if installed incorrectly, you will stop email from being delivered to your BB.  My best advice is to contact your IT department and have them walk you through the setup for Desktop Manager that is best suited for your particular setup.

  • Error installing user tools CD

Hi,  I just bought my 1st Blackberry and loving it so far, but when I put the user tools cd in my home computer and laptop, it won't install. I get a message saying, The system cannot read from the specified device. I have googled this and still can't find any way to resolve the problem. I have windows vista on both computers if this helps. I don't know alot about computer lingo- so if you can help me, please make it as simple as you can. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks

I would recommend that you download Desktop Manager, version 5, Service Pack 1, withOUT the Media Manager. Download Desktop Manager from here:

  • 10.5.4 won't install-hangs on Configuring Installation

10.5.4 won't install-hangs on Configuring Installation and I have to force quit the installer. I've tried to wait it out for over an hour, but the progress bar never moves. This is with the Combo Updater. I've also tried using Software Update, but the progress bar for checking for new software stops about 3/4 of the way, and hangs forever. Any advice? Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately such problems do occur for some people, not necessarily through any fault on the part of the user. Interruption of an update can cause problems for which there are solutions.
    Which update was it?
Go to the Apple icon and select Software Update and see what it recommends if anything. Don't actually instal, rather just quit SU and let us know what the result is.
Secondly, open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Select your hard drive in the LH column then Repair permissions from the lower part on the RH side of the window. It will take about 10mins to complete its task. If there is a list of permissions finishing with a message permissions repaired rerun this to make sure there are no more. See whether the odd behaviour continues.
If it does, insert the original installation dvd and restart holding the C key until the Select your language window appears. Do this & on the next window Select Disk Utility from the Tools menu. Again select your hard drive but this time choose Repair Disk. If there are repairs indicated and they are completed rerun this too to check that no more are needed. When this is finished rerun Repair permissions as well if there were any repairs carried out. Restart the computer normally and see how it all goes.

I understand that once the query is designed, it can be executed in BEx analyzer and we save it as workbook..then what is the purpose of BI content u201CWorkbooku201D that is available in BI content?
(ii).Is BI portal same as Netweaver Portal? When end user tries to view the reports from the portal on clicking link, from where the data will be retrieved (I mean either from BEx web Analyzer or Web Application Designer or from anywhere else?
(iii). In the complete tool set of BEx, what are the developer tools and what are the end user tools? I understand that Query Designer and BEx Analyzer are both end user & Developer tools and the remaining are only Developer tools.
Please provide the clarifications to the above queries..I am always confused with these.
    Regards
    Sharif.

    Hi,
Please try to break the questions into different threads.
i).What BI content do we need to install (or activate) to view the result of the query in Web Report and Excel Report form?
I understand that once the query is designed, it can be executed in BEx analyzer and we save it as workbook..then what is the purpose of BI content u201CWorkbooku201D that is available in BI content?
-> This WorkBook provides information for the BI Technical Content and is used by admin, where workbooks with queries designed by the customer are genrally targetted to the end user and contain information about the company.
(ii).Is BI portal same as Netweaver Portal? When end user tries to view the reports from the portal on clicking link, from where the data will be retrieved (I mean either from BEx web Analyzer or Web Application Designer or from anywhere else?
-> The BI portal is based on the Netweaver Portal. It simply has BI content & roles activated.
(iii). In the complete tool set of BEx, what are the developer tools and what are the end user tools? I understand that Query Designer and BEx Analyzer are both end user & Developer tools and the remaining are only Developer tools.
-> Additional developer tools are Web Application Designer & Report Designer.

  • Portal install hangs at 61%

I have install ias9 on several machines using different Linux distributions and they all seem to hang at 61% of the portal configuration assistant install. I am now trying it on a P-III 1Ghz with 512MB ram and it has been sittingat 61% for about 6 hours. CPU usage still at 100%.
    null

I too downloaded the 9iAS installation for Linux from OTN. I am also experiencing the same problem you are...here's an excerpt from the $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/opca/install.log:
    ...Importing component: ID = 1076115684 Name = RPT_PDETAILS Owner = PEOPLE_APP Type = AREPORT
    ...Importing component: ID = 1065830443 Name = RPT_SEARCH Owner = PEOPLE_APP Type = AREPORT
    ... Installing SCOTT Data
    ...Building demonstration tables. Please wait.
    ...attempting to create user scott/tiger
It appears that SCOTT has already been created, data installed, and then tries to create the user again...SCOTT already exists and the install hangs.
What I did to get around this is open a separate xterm and executed:
    tail -f $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/opca/install.log
Then when it got to the point shown above where it was trying to create SCOTT I opened up another xterm and executed:
    ps -ef
    It showed me (excerpt):
    oracle 31208 31197 0 00:38 pts/2 00:00:02 /u02/app/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/li
    oracle 31209 31197 0 00:38 pts/2 00:00:16 /u02/app/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/li
    oracle 31211 31197 0 00:38 pts/2 00:00:00 /u02/app/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/li
    oracle 31286 31211 0 01:27 pts/2 00:00:01 ../../bin/sqlplus
    oracle 31303 1 1 01:52 ? 00:00:00 xterm -fg white -bg black -sl 20
    oracle 31305 31303 0 01:52 pts/1 00:00:00 bash
    oracle 31315 31305 0 01:53 pts/1 00:00:00 ps -ef
I assumed that process 31286 was the one trying to recreate SCOTT. I double checked that the user did exist by querying DBA_USERS from another box and the user did in fact exist. So I killed process 31286 with a gracefull exit request:
    kill 31286
...and the install continued until 100% completion. Note that after the install was completed, the processor on my database box was pegged at 100%. I had to kill the process on the database side that was trying to recreate SCOTT. Looks like the Portal install script isn't quite right for the 9iAS for Linux install I pulled down from OTN.
I have yet to attempt to connect to the Portal installtion as it was late and I needed to get some sleep. I will try to connect to the Portal installation this evening to determine if it was a success.
    I hope this information helps.
My question to Mr. Lincks is: Have you perform this installation on the Linux platform? If so, was the installation performed from media supplied by Oracle? I too have performed the installation several times on Solaris and on NT with downloads from OTN, however, I did not have a problem like this one from the Linux download.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Buying a 3G Iphone (Original Blackberry User)

Hey wassup everyone....im new to this forum and im very interested in purchasing an Apple 3G Iphone. Comming from a Blackberry Curve, my expectations are very high for the iphone and i had a few questions:
-WHat are a couple of the pros and cons of the new iphone?
-IS it worth leaving a blackberry behind?
-And simply, is it worth the money?
...Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I have been a blackberry user for years, and indeed still am, I have a company Curve. We have about 1000 Blackberry users, and as CIO of that company I insisted we keep the blackberries.
I expect to leave the company, and needed a personal phone with good e-mail. I ended up buying the iPhone. I spent a lot of time considering the Storm, or even the Bold, but ended up with the iPhone.
Good decision? Not completely sure. But so far I think so.
With respect to company usage, Blackberry is a better choice. Not so much because of individual use, but all the policy and control and security issues are better suited to a corporate environment. And frankly e-mail has more control - filters, wireless activation, etc. And there is no question in my mind that a company benefits from ONE platform, two is almost twice the expense from a labor perspective, if not more. And if I have to pick one, Blackberry.
But for a personal phone, so far I prefer the iPohone. The browser is no comparison better, exchange (which I use) and active sync actually is BETTER than blackberry for personal use -- faster, more consistent reconciliation, easier to set up.
I had no real interest and did not use tasks and notes -- those are two things Blackberry does and iPhone does not. I didn't care; others might care a lot.
Blackberry has deeper applications available, and you can write your own without waiting for the blessing of Apple. Me? Who cares -- I like that they are vetted, I like the stability that come with it. 10,000+ applications are plenty.
The form factor on the iphone is better (at least relative to the bold or curve).
I don't like the propietary cables, etc. Pain in the ... but it's not a big deal.
At first I was irritated that you couldn't replace the battery or have a sprea don the iphone, but I really thought about it, and realized while I had a spare on the curve I had never actually needed it (I will admit the curve battery lasts longer).
The camera on the curve is MUCH, MUCH better. No comparison. I have a Nikon for taking real pictures, don't care. Some might care a lot. Camera *****. (same pixels by the way, and I actually had them swap my phone by the way, because it was so bad - no change).
Music, videos - no comparison. iPhone. Though frankly I could care less.
User interface -- again, no comparison - iPhone. MUCH nicer. Both neat and more usable EXCEPT -- I do miss the keyboard a bit. Maybe 20% of the time. I'm getting better at the virtual keyboard, if it was landscape I would be happy (I have a 3rd party tool, but that's not quite the same).
So far so good, I don't think you will be disappointe,d but it is different. And there are some very definite pro's on the blackberry side.

  • Limiting user from installing apps eventhough they have CC Complete Licence

    Hi Guys,
I'm wondering if anyone have any idea how to do this. Basically we have CC for teams subscription with CC Complete licences. However we don't want the invited users to install anything they want within CC Complete.
I know that I can create custom packages according to what the user required for their work, but my understanding is the user would still be able to go to Adobe Website and download other software outside their package and activate it.
Is there a way to stop them from doing that? Thanks heaps.

Hi there, I suggest uninstalling again. Then running the Cleaner Tool: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Once you have finished this, please install the CC desktop app at creative.adobe.com Then you will be able to download your apps properly.
Please let me know if this works.
    Thanks,
    Madison
