Blackberry wont boot (No USB)

Hey,First time poster.
I Have a blackberry curve,USB port broke,i made my own charger for the battery, lately my blackberry wont boot,it boots 3/4 of the way,i cant reset os becuase you need a usb,its a blackberry curve 8520,for some reson i cant go into safe mode!HELP ME!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you cannot get into Safe Mode and also cannot use the USB port, then there really is nothing you can do. Safe Mode is required for diagnostics, and the USB is required for attempted resolutions. Catch-22 time 2 for you!
Sorry...but it is what it is.
Good luck!

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • PC wont boot when USB-TC01 plugged in

Why will my PC not boot when the USB-TC01 is plugged in??  I have adjusted everything in BIOS to make sure I am not trying to boot from USB nor CD/DVD drives.  Other than that, the device works fine once the PC boots.  I tried using a self powered USB.  I am using XP, Pentium D, 3.2GHz, w/ 2BG RAM.  Any help?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have a few questions to gain a little more insight into what is happening:
    1. Have you tried booting up with other USB devices connected? If so, does it boot up correctly?
    2. Have you tried this on all available USB ports?  If so, does it cause the same behavior?
    3. Does the USB-TC01 cause other computers to act this way when connected?

  • Boot Camp: Macbook Pro 8,2 wont boot from USB or External CD Drive

Im pretty far into this process, and I have already jumped through a few hoops.  I have replaced my Superdrive with a HD and am trying to install Boot Camp on a late 2011 Macbook Pro 8,2.  I have gone in and edited the info.plist by taking out PRE which allowed me to make a USB Bootable drive with Windows 7 Ultimate on it.  I also have the install DVD with a an activation key for that.  I have partitioned my HD with 50 GB of space for Boot Camp and Windows and then it prompts me to restart.  At this point the computer tries to boot into Windows installer but instead gives me " No Bootable Device - insert bootable CD and press any key..."  I have tried restarting holding option with the external CD drive and USB drive plugged in, with just the USB drive plugged in, and with just the external CD drive plugged in.  With the CD drive plugged in and by holding option I do get the option to boot from OSX, Recovery, Windows, and EFI boot (the last two have the icon of a disk.)  When I click on windows it goes to the black screen with No Bootable Device.... and when I tried EFI boot it just sits there for a really long time and does nothing.  Any help?
I have already had people tell me to re-install my superdrive and try but that was a tedious process and I'd rather not do that.  Thanks in advance,

Meh, with the price they take for a drive in Denmark, I don't think it's worth it... They take around 160 $ for the drive (that's the cheapest MacBook drive I could find), and I am not even sure that's the one I need.

  • MBP Retina wont boot from USB HD

    Hi every1,
I used my old macbook(2009, 10.7) created a couple of bootalble images on my USB 2.0 external hard drive, they all 10.7. one of them was installed on one partition, all the other were cloned by CCC on other separate partitions. they all can be booted from my macbook. then i got the new Retina, tried to boot them from it, i got a crossed circle instead, none of them is booting, but they still bootable on my macbook. any1 knows the reason? much appreciated!

    thx Clinton.
the problem is that all the images(10.7.4) in my HD are for reimaging some old macbooks and iMacs at work.
the Retina was work issued, so was my macbook. i had to give away my macbook, since i got the Retina. The Retina is the only Mac i got at work at the moment.
what i want to do is modify some of the images(10.7.4) in my USB HD from the Retina, then to reimage those old macbooks and iMacs. hence i do not have to go to Mac rooms or borrow one of the Macbooks from where they belong.
P.S. i already free updated my Retina to mountain lion via app store.

  • Wont boot from USB or DVD with Mountian Lion

I have a 2013 MBA 11" i7 8GB Ram 512 SSD, It shipped with Mountian Lion and I uppgraded to Mavericks. I have SERIOUS software issues with work software and need to go back to Mountian Lion. However the MBA no longer will allow me to boot off of know good media  (USB or DVD that works in my pro). I just get teh circle with a slash in it. What gives?

    Two options:
Clone the DVD to a USB flash drive and use it on the MBA. Where did you get a Mountain Lion DVD, btw? Mountain Lion was not available on a DVD.
Re-download Mavericks and then make a bootable flash drive:
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
       2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
       3. Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.
Make your own Mavericks flash drive installer using the Mavericks tool:
You can also create a Mavericks flash drive installer via the Terminal. Mavericks has its own built-in installer maker you use via the Terminal:
You will need a freshly partitioned and formatted USB flash drive with at least 8GBs. Leave the name of the flash drive at the system default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy this command line after the prompt in the Terminal's window:
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen so be careful to enter it correctly. Press RETURN, again.
Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time.

  • X60 wont boot from USB

My X60 has dual boot WinXp and Mint Linux 15. I need to up grade to Mint Linux 17. (and in due course scrap the Win XP partition as I no longer user it)
But when I try to boot from either a CD drive or a USB stick the .iso doesnt launch and I get the eventual error 'no valid operating system found.'
This isnt right as the very same dvd contianing the .iso has sucessfully updated my desktop. I can see the .iso present on the USB stick so the system is reading the USB stick correct;ly
Ive checked on the forums and someone suggested ensuring that SATA was set to compatibility instead of ACHI but that makes no difference.
Does anyone have any other ideas??????

    Hello and welcome,
Please clarify thigs for me: does the DVD have an ISO on it, or was it created from an ISO?  Does the USB stick have on ISO on it?  It sounds like it does since you can see it.  Do you have grub2 installed and configured to loop-mount and boot the ISO?
Was the stick prepared with some tool (usb creator or ???) or by hand?  If you hand-built it, what did you do?
For that matter, you mention a DVD but say you're using a CD drive.
    More details, please.

Something must have gone wrong with the device software. I am unfamiliar with the 205 error but an OS reinstall should fix it. Try using this guide to reload the OS on the phone. There is also a guide from RIM over here.

  • PC wont boot up after installing playbook via USB

Well. This morning I connected for the first time the Bb Playbook to my Dell M1730 Vista Laptop. I had already preinstalled the Bb desktop software to my PC. As soon as I connected my Playbook via USB, the computer detected it and proceeded to "install drivers" on the lower right side of the desktop next to where the clock is. It then booted up the Bb Desktop software which asked me to restart computer. I did, my computer did not boot up, lights came on but the screen never showed me anything. My Playbook which was still connected to the PC showed a screen that says: Installing Drivers. It shows a Monitor to the left and the playbook sign on the right with arrows between them. However I see nothing telling me its working on something, no % or status bar. Further more it tells me to open up the driver installation on my PC if it hasnt opened it yet. But my comp continues to show nothing. I disconected the Bb and tried to turn on comp again, now it does the same with or without thr blackberry plugged, it just stays there lights on but no screen or sounds. Only diff between when the Bb is attached or not is that the Bb automatically shows the screen previously described. I waited 20 min to see if it was really installing something but nothing happens.
    Help? Thanks!!

If the system won't boot from the new drive the OP bought and install OS X on it it certainly won't boot from the original drives Recovery HD partition.
Sorry genius.....but if the Recovery disk shows up that means the disk cable isn't bad.  Could be he did have a screwed up HDD and when he put the NEW HDD in (after putting the OS on it via USB) the computer didn't reconize it and therefore didn't boot the OS.  Just maybe right genius?  Don't rush to criticize someone's recommendations until you realize other possibilities.  (I did say "if it does")

OS X installers have always been fairly specific, hardware-wise. I haven't read anything reflecting that situation with the Recovery HD, so it may be that the Recovery HD created for the MacBook Pro does not have the necessary drivers for the Mac Pro. Obviously, nothing definitive here, but a possibility.

  • [solved]USB wont boot on some computers.

    Hi all.
I have installed arch on a usb from a running arch system after doing pacman -S arch-install-scripts.
It boots on my Acer Aspire One which picks it up as a USB-HDD however when I tried to boot it on a different computer it didn't work and faliled with the error "Boot Error".
I have succesfully booted both ubuntu and fedora on the same pc.
    Any ideas?
Not able to access my arch system right now but will the fact that arch is installed to a partition (sdb1) and not directly affect it(sdb)?
Previously I used the universal usb installer from pendrivelinux.com with it set to format the drive. I believe it did not use partitions.
I believe I just answered my own question. Anyone mind confirming if I'm correct ?

Some older bioses boot from USB in "floppy mode" (it shows the disk as a floppy if it is not partionned, otherwise the first partition is shown as a floppy, possibly with a limitation of size). If you know your bootloader, you can manage to make it bootable (I think this is much easier with syslinux than with grub, because it can detect at boot time from where it is booted; without having you to explicitly tell it). You can also try the plop boot manager (http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager/index.html). It is able to boot USB devices in hard disk mode even without Bios support.
