    Hi Peter!
I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:

After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:

    * Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.

From the Inside BlackBerry Blog today:
For those of you enjoying your shiny new BlackBerry 10 smartphone, we’re delivering another update to the BlackBerry 10 version 10.1 software that will be steadily rolling out on carriers around the globe. To bring software updates to you, we work closely with our carrier partners through a certification process.
Before we get into the features of the update we want to let you know up front when you can start to expect the update in your region. As you may know, we announced a BlackBerry 10.1 update at BlackBerry Live in May and some of you may have already downloaded that update. To be sure you’re getting all the goodness we’ve built-in since then, look for OS version number of 10.1.0.4181 / 10.1.0.4537 or higher to confirm you have the latest update. You can find the OS version number you are currently running by going to the System Setting, selecting About, then selecting OS from the drop down Category menu.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software slows down Network Connectivity on Win 7 start up

    Hi,
I am new so be gently..lol
I am running windows 7 64bit Home Premium. I recently noticed that on start up my PC was taking between 10 and 20 seconds to set up it's network connectivity, which previously was almost instant. There were no erros within the event logs to suggest why this was occuring. The last thing installed was the blackberry desktop manager. I uninstalled this, and found that my network connectivity was now occuring almost instantly again.
Is this a know issue with this software? I have searched the forum but cannot find anything simliar, only people saying it was slowing down start up as a whole which is not what is happening to me.
Thanks for any help or advice in advance.
    TLE

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, if you have installed the RIM DTM software to auto-start every time you boot your PC, the boot time will increase. Personally, I've found no reason to allow DTM to auto-start...I only launch it when I need it.
To perform a full clean uninstall, see this KB:

  • Getting Started with the BlackBerry Classic

Reposted from the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog
Whether you are new or experienced with BlackBerry 10, here’s a quick guide to get you started with the BlackBerry Classic!
Step 1 – Insert your SIM and media card
The first step you’ll want to take after unboxing your new BlackBerry Classic is inserting your nano SIM card and media card. When you have your nano SIM and media card (optional) handy, use the tool that is provided in the BlackBerry Classic box to open the SIM card tray.
To do this, push the tip of the tool, or a paperclip, into the hole that is to the left of SIM on the side of your device. Doing so pops the tray out at which point you can pull it all the way out.
After doing this, with the metal contacts of your nano SIM card facing away from you, place the nano SIM into the tray, then push the tray into the slot. Repeat these steps to insert your media card by inserting the tool, or a paperclip, in the hole to the right of SD along the left side of your device.
Tip: If you don’t have the right SIM card please contact your service provider and ask them for help switching to a nano SIM card. Please avoid using a larger SIM card that has been cut to a smaller size as this may cause your device to not recognize the SIM card. Using a modified SIM card may also result in it getting stuck since the modified SIM card may be thicker than the required nano SIM card. When you have finished inserting your nano SIM and media card the next step is completing the BlackBerry Classic setup wizard.
Step 2 – Complete the set up wizard
If you haven’t already, turn on your BlackBerry Classic by pressing and holding the power button on the top of your device so you can complete the setup process. This process guides you through connecting to a Wi-Fi network, setting up a new BlackBerry ID, or signing into your existing BlackBerry ID, as well as showing you several fundamental gestures.
Tip: If you don’t have a BlackBerry ID you’ll be able to create one during the setup process and, in the event you don’t remember your BlackBerry ID password, use the Forgot Password option to reset your BlackBerry ID password. Don’t forgot to confirm your BlackBerry ID, which can help you recover your password in case you ever forget it!
When you have finished the setup wizard, the new and improved Setup app will open automatically.
Within this app you’ll be able to complete the following actions that will help you learn more about your new device and customize everything just the way you like
Find out what’s different about BlackBerry 10
Understand the various gestures used throughout your device
Add your email and social networking accounts
Transfer data from your previous device (See step 3 to learn more!)
    Customize your device notifications
Setup BBM so you can connect with family and friends
    Set a device password
    And more!
When you have finished going through the various options within the Setup App, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to minimize it. You can always access the Setup app in the future by tapping on the Setup icon as well.
Step 3 – Transfer data from your previous device
If you are switching from another device, whether it be BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Android or iPhone, there are several different methods you can use to help transfer data to your new device.
For a visual overview, check out the following videos that guide you through this process. The Setup app on your BlackBerry Classic can also help you do this, just open the Setup app, tap Switching Devices and follow the provided steps.
Android device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
BlackBerry OS smartphone to BlacKBerry 10 smartphone
iOS device to BlackBerry 10 smartphone
If you encounter any issues transferring your data, or would like some guidance, stop by the Device Switch board within the BlackBerry Support Community Forums and ask the community.
If you switch from another device don’t forget to perform a security wipe on your old device to remove your personal information. If your previous device was a BlackBerry device, check out our post on how to perform a security wipe.
If you use a different type of device, review the user documentation to learn how to reset it to factory settings and remove your personal information.
Step 4 – Secure your new device and turn on BlackBerry Protect
If you haven’t already set a device password, I cannot stress enough how important this is. Doing so can help prevent unwanted access if you leave your device unattended and, in the event you misplace your device, no one will be able to view your personal information. To set a device password, complete the following steps:
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen
Tap Settings followed by Security and Privacy
    Tap Device Password
Set the Device Password switch to On
    Enter your desired password twice
After setting a device password make sure you verify that BlackBerry Protect is enabled on your device by going to Settings followed by BlackBerry Protect.
When enabled, BlackBerry Protect can help you locate, lock, or wipe your device where you are, provided your device is connected to the mobile or Wi-Fi network. To learn more about BlackBerry Protect go to http://protect.blackberry.com.
Step 5 – Where to learn more and find help
The easiest way to learn more about your new BlackBerry Classic is by opening the Help app, which contains a lot of useful information ranging from tips and tricks to how-to overviews. You can also view, download, or save the user guide for your device by visiting http://docs.blackberry.com.
I would also recommend reviewing BlackBerry Classic how-to demo videos that show the various features and functions offered by your device. These demos can be viewed on your device, computer, or tablet. Several BlackBerry Training courses are also available – make sure you try these out on your computer, or device to learn more about the BlackBerry Classic and BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1.

Introducing BlackBerry 10 OS Version 10.3.1
Supporting BlackBerry 10 OS Version 10.3.1

Another great way to learn more is by taking the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, which you can find within BlackBerry World. This app offers short quizzes that can help you learn more about your device and it only takes a few minutes to complete each test – it’s the perfect coffee break companion!
To get the BlackBerry 10 Pop Quiz, open BlackBerry World and search for it or click here. Another great resource to learn more about your device, beyond this blog of course, is the BlackBerry Classic support site located at http://www.blackberry.com/classicsupport

  • Blackberry Desktop Software - Request Option to Disable Software from Loading During Start-Up

After Blackberry Desktop Software automatic updates. Software become part of Start-Up option or menu. I do not want Blackberry Desktop Software to automatically load during Start-Up. The Desktop Software does not have a user friendly option to disable the desktop software from loading during start-up. Am writing you to add this feature to your desktop software. I've just completed loading v5.0.1 and again I need to hunt and peck a way through windows to delete this software from loading during start-up. This software needs to have a user friendly option to disable the desktop software from loading during start-up. When I loaded v4.x.x when I bought my blackberry your set-up wizard had this disable option, but all your subsequent software upgrades change my windows start-up to load blackberry desktop manager software. Please add this feature to your software.

  • Blackberry Desktop Software installed, but not on start menu or icons on desktop

Blackberry Desktop Software installed, but not on start menu or icons on desktop
I got a new laptop Windows 7.  I installed Blackberry Desktop apparently successfully.  However, doesn't appear on start menu nor desktop.

    Hey tgcraighead,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
After the installation did you restart the computer?  If you go into Control Panel>Programs and Features do you see BlackBerry Desktop Software listed in the applications?
Did you have a previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Software installed?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Steve Jobs Probably Uses A Blackberry

I have had it with Iphones! My 1st generation Iphone was great for the first year until it conveniently developed dead screen spots at month 14. The "Genious Bar" told me that because I was out of warranty I would have to pay $199 for a refurbished first Gen or the same price for a new one. Like a Lemming I took the bait and purchased a new 3G Iphone 1 week ago. It has worked fairly well except my phone doesnt get 3 G reception at work in Hoboken, NJ 1 mile from Manhattan, NYC New York! I downloaded the new 2.1 software last nite and the phone seemed to work very well. Many of the issues I was having with slow texting and spotty reception seems to have been fixed. 1 day later and my phone now says "no service" in my apartment 1 minute and 5 bars the next. The 3G symbol only works if I go into settings and turn it off and back on. This lasts about 5 minutes before either Edge or no service takes over. I am so frustrated with this phone. I am paying $80/month for what seems like an experimental Apple project. Does anyone in the NYC Metro area have these same issues on September 13, 14 2008 or am I the only lucky one. I would love to love this phone but it is so unreliable. I have reset it and done hard reboots but nothing helps. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this phone to be consistent with the 3G connection? Thanks

well I called AT&T about my issue had no service for the past 3 days so got ****** off... They said no outage in my area and tried some troubleshooting steps... so she transferred me to Apple so talked to the guy at Apple who couldn't find out whats going out... I even mentioned that I noticed on the Apple Forums several people having the same problem but they are in New York he says thats cause they are being affected by the Storm I am in Nevada so I shouldn't be having the problem. Well came to the conclusion that the problem is not with the phone as both me and my wife's iPhone are having the problem and then took out the SIM Card from my iPhone and put it in my Blackberry and same problem.... So Apple guy had a three-way call with me, him, at&t and now at&t suddenly shows a outage in my area but says only started today but I haven't had service since Friday so 3 days... While on the phone with AT&T/Apple phone suddenly went from "No Service" to full bars and 3G symbol but when attempt to place a call just get silence and then 10-20 seconds later call failed. If someone tries to call me they go immediately to voicemail... Anyway at the end of the call Apple guy wasn't able to help me and the AT&T lady wasn't able to help me or transfer me to Technical Support cause I guess Technical Support is closed on the weekends... First cell provider I have ever had that didn't have 24/7 support...
My Phone started working at about

  • Blackberry device software wireless update adnormal error detected

    Hi,
I tried to upgrade my software for my BB CUrve 9300, wirelessly but now the phone enters a reset loop  with the message:
Abnormal reset detected during update. Press any key to return to pre-update configuration
I have tried everything, pulling the battery, the sim card, the memory card but its still on the loop. I found a similar post from 2010 below which is the same problem but no resolution was made.
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?externalId=KB25294&sliceId=1&cmd=displayKC&d...
    Help please?!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    (Credit JSanders)
Here are two methods of recovery for you to try:
    One:
Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting battery.
You will get three option Retry, Update Or Cancel, then click on update.
Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", then insert battery.
If this does not work, and you remain stuck on the backing up the Social Feeds database, go to the second method below.
    Secondly:
Start your BlackBerry in Safe mode.  Article ID: KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Modehttp://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow your handheld to connect. If you are prompted to upgrade, cancel the upgrade for later.
IF you cannot connect or your Desktop Software does not recognize your device while in Safe Mode, please follow the directions here to force the detect:  Article ID: KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Go to Device > delete > SELECT DATA > select to delete both the Social Feeds and Smart Card databases, and follow the remaining prompts to complete it.
Now, you can return and click to upgrade the device through the Desktop Manager, or reboot the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue the over the air upgrade.

  • My Blackberry link disappeared and I cannot reinstall

Ever since the new OS came out about 3 weeks ago, my Q10 automatically updated it to this newest OS. Subsequently there appeared to be a newer version of Blackberry link on my desk top. However, when I started to update it, the installaion seemed to have stopped duirng the process and the desktop icon was gone. I could not find the software anywhere on my computer. When I tried to download from scratch from BB.com, during installation it tells me a newer version has been installed on my computer and if I want to install this (being downloaded) version, I have t odelete the newer version first. I am stucked, I cannot find any tract of BB link on my computer. I have also tried the uninstall section but the software does not seem to exist. Please help.

    Hey,
I noticed some weird stuff too, but try this:
    Control Panel
    [Category View]
    Uninstall Programs
Search for anything "Blackberry" or "RIM" and uninstall it.
    Go to
    1) Link: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB06...
    2) Blend: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB06...
That may help... It looks like they've bundled link/blend and some other drivers...
Good luck. I wish I could help more.
