Blackberry Z10 battery life - was good now it drains in a few hours

Good Day,
We have had the BB Z10 (two phones) for over a month with no issues with battery life.  Last week one of the phones battery loses its charge in about 4 hours with next to no use (only several emails, no phone calls or browsing.)
Both phones have the most recent software upgrade which was to extend battery life.
The other phone will go for about 16 hours with moderate use on one charge.
Can anyone pinpoint what to look at what would be casuing the battery usage?
Thanks

Check and see if your WiFi is on. I had (have) the same problem when I leave it on and go to work. The phone constantly searches for WiFi and the battery at a record pace. I turn it on only when I am at home or where I can access WiFi, other times I leave it off.
I also hear the Ebay app is a huge drain.
I also limited the home pages, I had over twelve that i think were constantly updating. I limited it to one.
Maybe one or all of these will help.
Regards.
It's always funny when it's someone else.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Battery Life - Infinite Problem ?

    Hello,
Seems that the Z10 battery life is a problem with difficult solution - a lot of people complain about it frequently.
I've been using my Z10 since August last year. I never end the day with battery, but I use a lot email and internet browsing - always with the phone in my hands.
Of course, since day 1, I have all the tweaks recommended by everyone: low brightness (lowest possible), apps closed, wireless off when there's no network, bluetooth off, etc etc
Recently, since last software update, my battery drains incredibly fast. From 3 to 5 hours, even without touching it. Doesn't even last one night still with battery full and sleep mode.
Sometimes I notice the phone is very hot and draining really fast.
Last week I was abroad and NOT using the mobile phone (flight mode on), and couldn't last even one fullday (8h).
Anyone can help me trying to find the cause for this problem?
    Many thanks !

Im having same problem   but its been since lastweek when I updated bbm     does anyone knis how to downgrade bbmso I can try that

  • BlackBerry Z10 Battery Life is VERY LOW!!!

    Hi,
The battery life of my BlackBerry Z10 is very low. After a 100% charge it drains in less than 7 hours.
Is it normal for this device or something is wrong with my phone's battery?
I am always logged in to the following apps, 24x7, using 3G network:
    1)  Facebook
    2)  WhatsApp
    3)  Google Talk
    4)  1 Official Mail Account (MS Exchange)
    5)  2 Yahoo Mail Accounts (All folder sync is enabled)
    6)  LinkedIn
    Any suggestions or tips??
    Thanks,
    Ashish

You've got a lot of apps running at once and that will definitely contribute to your battery's performance. If you're getting 7 hours out of your battery with all those apps running, I'd say you're doing fairly well. You can try closing some of them but I suspect you use them all frequently and would rather keep them running.
Topping up your battery's charge throughout the day is not a bad idea. It's recommended that you charge your battery for at least 15 minutes each time you plug it in. You might want to try that. Just keep in mind that the battery in the Z10 is recognized as a very good battery; you wouldn't get 7 hours out of some other smartphones' batteries.
One more suggestion would be to jump over to the Q10. It has a smaller screen but its battery is nothing short of stellar.
    Cheers.

  • My iPod nano 4GB (2nd gen.) battery was great, now its dying within a few hours?

    Hello,
I have a iPod nano 4 GB (2nd gen.) I have had it for years and up till recently the battery was great on it.
For a few weeks now my battery will die very quickly. I will have it fully charged and within 2 hours it will be dead. I have no applications running, just music. Nothing has changed at how I use it, but the battery just does not hold.
I charged it again last night and listened to music for about 30 min when I checked it, the battery was about dead. I gave it a few min. then it said it was half way charged?
I do not have wi-fi or anything on this...just music.
I also checked to make sure its software was up to date which it is. Can it just be the batterys worn out?
    Thanks

Yes.  Your iPod's Lithium ion battery will slowly start to lose its ability to retain full capacity over time.  Nothing lasts forever.  Sorry.

I have had my IPhone 4S for a little over a week now. My battery life was at 90% It Died, Dead, Does not work at all. Can someone tell me what in the heck is going on here. I have had all of the Apple Phones and They all had their little quirks..But This is ridiculous is it just with the Black 4S or the White 4S or both. Help?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring

If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • Found the reason why my battery life was short

As topic says, I found the reason why my battery life was short.
Having had the Iphone 4 since launch, I've always been impressed by the battery life.
So when it started to go from 100% to 50% overnight, with no use I started wondering what caused this.
I my case it was the wireless network, before I used to have just one wireless router, but recently I bought a accesspoint using it as a signal repeater(booster), giving me 100 % wifi coverage at home.
Since the repeater has the same wireless SSID as the router it seems to confuse the iphone, making it switch between connecting to the router and the accesspoint nonstop and therefore draining the battery.
Disconnected the accesspoit and now things are back to normal.

If you have just one wireless router you can't turn the accesspoint off, you could try turning wifi off on the phone and see if that helps.
In my case the wifi range of the router and the accesspoint overlapped each other, making the iphone constantly switch between them.

  • I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore

I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my NIKON camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore!! Help where are they? How can I retrieve them or are they lost???
    Please help me!!!

Do you see more photos, when you enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu?
And that was afetr I took the connection with the NIKON out of my laptop.
Check, if you really imported into your iPhoto library - is the preference setting "Advanced > Importing: Copy items to the iPhoto Library" active?  If not, connect your Nikon again - do you now see more photos?
If you imported into the iPhoto Library, check inside the package:
Select your iPhoto library in the Finder, ctrl-click it, use the command "Show Package Contents".
There will be a folder named "Masters" inside, with subfolders named by year - month - day. Look for the date you did the import and check, if the photos are inside.
If yes, copy this folder to a folder on your desktop to save the photos.
If not, search for a folder "Importing" inside the library. Is it there? Then copy these photos to a folder on the Desktop.
If you found your photos, backup and rebuild your library.

  • My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software?

My battery life at a full 100% charge is about 2 hours 22 minutes (backlight and key lights at lowest level). Should I go complaining to Apple or do I just need different software? I've only had my mac book since August 2011. The battery dies in 2 to 3 hours with some web surfing (little video play) and photo editing etc. I really don't feel like taking my computer all the way to the apple store to wait there for 5 hours to hear that I need to call someone blah blah blah. Any advice? (BTW Safari hasn't been working since I last updated my mac, WHYYYY?)

The battery life on my new iPad is only about five hours when apple claim ten is this normal

Apple's note on 10 hours: Battery life varies by use and configuration; see www.apple.com/batteries for more information.

Keeping screen brightness at 50% or less is one of the easiest ways to conserve battery. Turn off Bluetooth and LTE if not in use is also useful.

Is anyone accountable at verizon? will i ever really get my phone? i've seen people on this forum order later than me and get their phone quicker

I looked in the My Orders section of my Verizon account this morning (12/22),  My SG iPhone 6+ 1228GB is now listed under my Recent Orders and my card was charged yesterday,  So I am thinking it will ship Monday morning.  This is how the process went for my wife's S 64GB 6+ two weeks ago.  This is an interesting turn of events since I was also one to receive the email on Thursday about it being pushed back to 12/12  I'll keep you all posted.
    Also I ordered 10/13.

  • NEW BLACKBERRY Z10 BATTERY WAS NOT FULLY CHARGED

    Hiii Friends
I Have purchased the new Blackberry Z10 One month ago, But its battery was not charged by 100%, it only charged by 94% maxmimum and also drains faster, I have already Turn off Device many time, Remove battery and again start the device, But even though I have face the Problem, Battery was charged at 94% only.
Please Let me know what to do.

    Go to Solution.

Before taking out the battery, do NOT turn off the device.
Try this: leave it connected to the OEM stock wall outlet charger.
With it connected and powered ON, remove the battery for minute and replace.
Check the percentage and drain over the next day, and do the SAME procedure again.
Remember, the charge percentage is not an exact science, but rather an estimate by the software of the charge, based on the current power, historical drain and charging, etc.

  • I have had my iPhone 4s for a few months and the battery life was really good. Then around the same time I updated to ISO6 and I dropped it on the floor and since the battery life has been poor lasting only a few hours. Does anyone know why this is?

I don't know why the battery life has just become so poor. I can listen to 1 song and lose 1/2% battery life. I had all the settings the same as before updating to ISO6 and now it just goes. I did drop it around the same time but I have a stong case so I don't see how this should effect it. If anyone knows how to fix it would be a great help because I used to love iPod but I am very dissapointed.

Internal damage from fall or loose connector. Take it to
    Apple to be checked.

  • Red light flashing twice indicates that battery life was below 20%

By the way, I was using my Playbook down to 10% battery life.  I plugged it into the wall to charge it after shutting it down and it wouldn't come back up.  Your Playbook will die!!  Then you can reload the OS and start all over.  So, RIM doesn't feel the need to let you know that sometime between 20% and 10% you will be screwed. This is not only a product defect, it's also a ridiculous oversight in the user manual, or lack thereof, that is sent to you when you buy it.  At the very least, the screen pop-up ought to say, I'm gonna erase your book if you don't plug me in!!!!
So aggravated, reloading everything now.  Be sure to plug in to your pc/mac and back-up now!  And watch those batteries and your behind.
    AGGRAVATION!!!!!!!
P.S  why does it take so long for this thing to boot up?  i think my dinosaur PC is faster.

The advice in the title of this thread is wrong, of course, and can safely be ignored.  I don't know what occurred in the specific situation described here, but I've repeatedly drained my PlayBook to the point where it shut itself off, at 0%, with no such negative outcome.
That said, there do seem to be some issues with getting it back on sometimes when it's very low.  I've never had much issue myself, but I'm a patient sort.  If it doesn't turn on immediately, I assume some mysterious software problem is involved, wait a few minutes, and try again.  I also find that sometimes a brief press on the power button isn't recognized or responded to, and feel like I need to hold it down for a second before the thing notices and responds.  Maybe that's required in some cases, maybe not.  Lastly, I've read (but never seen this myself) that it may be necessary to recharge it for an hour or so after a complete discharge, before it will come on.  Not sure where people got that one, but possibly it is required.
Sorry for your aggravation, but if you are willing to actually try to work through the issue here, whatever it is, you could probably get some good advice from others here.  This is a community forum, "staffed" pretty much solely by other RIM customers who are volunteering here to help people out, so please keep that in mind when venting.
As for the boot up, in case you seriously wanted an answer: it's probably because the flash storage with the operating system image on it is being scanned and checked against a cryptographic signature, to ensure that it hasn't been tampered with.  If your dinosaur PC, which may well be faster, would do that, we'd have a lot fewer viruses and other security breaches in this world.
Most people only rarely cycle power on their tablet, and if you merely put it in standby (I realize that wasn't possible in this case... just talking in general terms here) you'll find it comes on effectively instantly, which is way better than your PC, or even a modern one, can do.

  • BlackBerry Z10 - battery drains very quickly even in standby

I have had two Blackberry Z10 phones, and at work the signal is little to none at times and the battery drains and I am not even using the phone. All email accounts and other services have been set to manual update only. A friend of mine had the exact same phone but an AT&T phone mine was Verizon. He had no problem with his in the same office and the same building. Is this a CDMA only problem or a Verizon problem? Love the phones and the way they work but the battery life at work is bad, at home where the signal is 3g and pretty steady I had no probems. I am due for an upgrade in June and am trying to find out if the Z30 for Verizon has the same problem. I have used a windows phone with the same size battery and a bigger screen same location same carrier with more use and no problem.
    Thanks

What Android apps do you have installed?
Try this first off, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Watch your device another day and see how it goes.
