  • Z10 won't get past Blackberry word and shuts down

    Hello,
My Z10 battery died a few days back.
I tried charging it, but all the phone did was light the red light for like 5 seconds, then started initiating the startup sequence by displaying the word Blackberry for 2 seconds, and then it just shuts down and only puts the red light back up.... and then it just goes into an infinite loop of doing that over and over again.
I thought it's a battery issue, so I got a new battery and tried it out, it worked fine, until it was drained last night. This morning I tried to get the phone to start after hooking it up to the charger only to go into the same thing with the new battery.
The issue I see is that the start up doesn't go past the blackberry screen and it either doesn't have enough charge to continue since the battery is drained and the phone doesn't seem to be able to charge it.
First, How can I charge the battery to get the phone going? I tried the wall charger, USB one, USB cable.....nothing worked.
Second, Is there a way to avoid that in the future other than making sure the battery isn't drained??
My company has a choice of Blackberry or iPhone usage and I opted to continue with BlackBerry, please show me I made the right choice!
    Thank you,
    Shehab

Using your OEM wall charger, let it charge several hours.
Then with the charger still connected remove the battery for about 20 minutes and reinsert the battery, with the charger still connected.
Watch the screen & LED, what do you see?
If still no luck, try doing the same with the SIM card & Media card both removed.

The on-device battery meter is 'off sync' with the actual battery charge. There are a couple of ways you can try to repair this...
Leave the device to charge an hours or so, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. Watch over the next couple of days to see if the charge and the battery use is in sync.
Roughly every 30 charges, deliberately discharge your battery to 10-15%, and fully charge to 100% afterwards. This will help maintain the accuracy of the “fuel gauge” on the device (your battery meter or scale).
Don’t drain your battery every day to 10-20% of its charge. You can actually expect battery problems by draining the battery. Again, to repeat, top-off your charge during the day whenever convenient – even ten minutes in the car or at your desk will give you an extra 20-25% charge.

  • BlackBerry Desktop Software shuts down when connecting secondary device

    All,
I have a main and a secondary phone (used for local SIM when traveling abroad)
After I backup my main device I connect my secondary device to be able to "Restore" and have all my contacts sync on both, but alas, once the secondary device is trying to connect the Desktop Software just shuts down without giving any error
The Backup process itself works great
I use the same cable, same USB Port, both devices have a charged battery and work great on a day to day basis
    Main Device: BlackBerry 9900
    Secondary Device: BlackBerry 9870
    Desktop Software Version: 7.0.0.59 (May 16, 2012 Bundle 60)
Laptop OS: Windows XP Professional SP3
    Thanks

I'm not familiar with this particular package, but with similar packages from other carriers there's usually a setting that lets the program control your Network - it may only say Wi-Fi.
The BlackBerry drivers include a Dial-Up connection which is probably getting shut down by the software which kills Desktop Manager.
If you turn off that option, the problem should go away (reboot probably a good idea).

  • Z10 keeps shutting down

Hi, i hope someone can help me. I have had my z10 and am loving it. It has issues but i am sure they will be worked out in time. My main issue is that my z10 has been automatically shutting off when it is locked in my pocket. This will happen randomly even when the battery is fully charged. To restart it i need to remove the battery and insert it again. This also happens when i shake the phone (not shake too much). Can anyone help me with this???

    Hi there,
I am not sure about the logic behind this, but one of the solutions I found in a forum was to replace the sim. I had cut my normal sim to micro sim size myself and was facing frequent shutdowns (2 or 3 times a day). SOmetimes it used to restart, sometimes just shut down and I had to start it up again.
I just went to the customer service centre of my carrier and got a new micro sim last week, and touch wood, the phone has shut down only once after that. I hope it stays that way.
I am assuming that it has to do with signal reception and the phone trying to do something about it.
    See if this helps you.

  • Battery shuts down at 95%? but works fine after reboot.

Kinda an odd problem. I have a early 2011 macbook pro 13 inch. When I fully charge the laptop and then use it off battery, when the battery reaches 95% it shuts down and It wont turn back on until i connect to AC. But all i have to do is just quickly touch the ac and the computer will turn back on and I can then run it on battery for hours with no issue. Any Idea? I've recreated the problem twice and it was 95% that the laptop shuts down on both occations.

    Try a SMC reset

I do not know either, but if you do nothing, then we'll never know. Hence, trying to remove the app would be in order. Also trying a different SIM.

  • Battery shutting down

when i'm using my battery without the power adapter connected, it automatically shuts my computer off between 10% and 30%. I can tell its my battery because when it shuts down and i press the button on the battery to see the level, the lights don't show. after a minute, they come on with one solid dot. then when i turn the computer back on again, it will play the startup sound, boot for about 5 seconds, and then shut down again. i have reset the power thing (i don't know what it's called when you remove the battery and the power then press power for about 10 secs)
    any help?

I'm guessing your battery has around 80 cycles. Different MacBooks may automatically sleep for a variety of reasons.
Calibrating your battery is always the first advice you get, but it may prove better if...
    1. Use your power adapter as much as humanly possible. Theoretically, your battery should go to 10%, but in reality, various system demands (including temperature) may make this number unrealistic.
    2. Incorporate charging into your daily ritual, as with your cell phone battery.
    2. It appears you haven't calibrated your battery. Check here:

  • Ipod mini- 3/4 battery shutting down with "no battery power remaining"

After fully charging my ipod mini, while it still has 3/4 battery on the battery meter in the corner will shut itself down due to "no battery power remaining" if i push the NEXT button too many times in a row. This is a consistant problem and always happens when i have a half battery power or more. I do keep it in Shuffle mode, and i am fully aware that will drain the battery quicker, however there should be no reason a freshly charged ipod with 3/4 battery should not be able to shuffle a few songs without shutting down. Has anyone else ever had this problem or knows of any solution for fixing it? Any help would be appreciated!!

my ipod is doing the same thing...except when I turn it on it will say i have 3/4 battery for only about 10 seconds, then it turns off. All the other forums I have read say to get the battery replaced, but Apple can and usually does send a faulty battery so it might be time for a new ipod.

  • MacBook won't start on battery/shuts down when power adapter is removed

    Help & advice needed please.
My MacBook won't start without external power, it gives a whir then a click then nothing. Once started up, if I remove the external power it just shuts off.
The battery shows at 98% & charging. Coconut Battery shows the following:
Current battery charge 4126 (& increasing as I type)
    Maximum battery charge 4200
    Current battery capacity 4200
    Original battery capacity 5200
    80%
    Battery loadcycles 111
Age of your Mac 6 months
    Charger connected yes
    Battery is charging yes
Does anyone have a clue why the Mac won't power itself on the battery when everything else seems like it works?
    Cheers!

As of today, my MacBook and I have been together for 40 days. Yesterday, while I was happily surfing (on battery), it powered down with no warning. Okay, these things happen. I plugged it in, restarted, and all seemed to be fine. Battery was about 70%. I did other things on my other machines and when it was about 90%, unplugged it and everything was good. This morning after using it unplugged for 1.5 hours it did the same thing, but decided to only work with the power adapter, not on battery alone. When trying to boot without AC, it would try to spin the CD and then fall back into off. When on AC, if I pulled the adapter, it would last two seconds and go blank. I made an appt. with the Apple store (Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas) for 3:20pm. I got there right at 3:20pm and the monitors showed I was 5th in line. Store was fairly packed, at least one patron at every display item. Monitors also said the next MacGenius appt. was "approx. 8:30pm." Glad I made an appt! I was served about 15 min. later, during which time the monitors had changed to "No more MacGenius appts. available today, please try tomorrow." However, one guy came by without an appt. and was told he would be put on standby and to come back in 30 min.
Once I explained my issue with my MacBook battery, my Genius tried one of his batteries. "I just want to make sure it's your battery and not your motherboard." My machine worked fine, so he said "No problem, I'll have you out of here in 10 minutes." He got me a brand new battery, tested it, and put my old one in a box on the rear counter with four others. He pulled the serial number from the "About this Mac" area, didn't need my receipt for purchase date or anything. I had even printed this page: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/ to use as ammunition, but didn't need it. He did approve highly of my dashboard widget "iStat pro", available here: http://islayer.com/.
So the battery issue is a very common problem, and one that Apple has tried to deal with as painlessly as possible for the consumer. My Genius did ask if the battery showed an "X" in the icon bar, and I said no. Just wouldn't run on battery. On the way out of the store, one of the 3 MacBooks, in fact the one closest to the door, had an "X" on the battery icon. When I unplugged the power, it shut down immediately! The moral of the story is to contact Apple immediately with problems and give them a chance to fix them. Hope this helps others.

  • IPhone 6 plus battery shuts down at 3 percent

I have a problem my 2 week iPhone 6 plus shuts down at 3 percent but when I connect the lighting cable it reboots immediately and shuts down again it takes 2 automatic boot up before it stays on, I do never had this type of problem it is weird because it shuts down automatically like if the batter is drain at 3 percent when I connect the lighting cable it boots up and shuts down automatically and then boots up again and then it stays on but showing at a starting point at 3 percent I do not know why this happens... Also my battery drains very quick it takes only 1 day when I have to recharge the phone, this never happen before it took me up to 2 days to drain completely the battery now it takes only one day of normal use...

I am in the same situation you are.  I called the fraud dept, was on hold for over an hour, confirmed everything and was told I would get the phones on the 19th.  The interesting thing is that my son got text messages on his phone to call the fraud dept even though my phone is the main number.
Customer service tells me something different every time I call to make sure I have an order.

  • BlackBerry Z10 - Battery Issue

My BlackBerry Z10 shutdowns automatically when the battery level reaches 20%........ Is this a bug or what? Do you have a solution for this?
    Model - BlackBerry Z10
    Model Number - STL 100-1
    OS Version - 10.1.0.2354
Please help me as this is very annoying. Waiting for the reply urgently.

If Rob's solution didn't work for you, the next step would be to reload your OS.  This sounds like a software issue so reloading the OS should correct it.
To do this, plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Link.  Once your phone has been recognized by the software, click your phone name at the bottom then click Restore and reload the most recent backup.
Let us know if that helps you.

  • BlackBerry Z10 Battery Life is VERY LOW!!!

    Hi,
The battery life of my BlackBerry Z10 is very low. After a 100% charge it drains in less than 7 hours.
Is it normal for this device or something is wrong with my phone's battery?
I am always logged in to the following apps, 24x7, using 3G network:
    1)  Facebook
    2)  WhatsApp
    3)  Google Talk
    4)  1 Official Mail Account (MS Exchange)
    5)  2 Yahoo Mail Accounts (All folder sync is enabled)
    6)  LinkedIn
    Any suggestions or tips??
    Thanks,
    Ashish

You've got a lot of apps running at once and that will definitely contribute to your battery's performance. If you're getting 7 hours out of your battery with all those apps running, I'd say you're doing fairly well. You can try closing some of them but I suspect you use them all frequently and would rather keep them running.
Topping up your battery's charge throughout the day is not a bad idea. It's recommended that you charge your battery for at least 15 minutes each time you plug it in. You might want to try that. Just keep in mind that the battery in the Z10 is recognized as a very good battery; you wouldn't get 7 hours out of some other smartphones' batteries.
One more suggestion would be to jump over to the Q10. It has a smaller screen but its battery is nothing short of stellar.
    Cheers.

  • BlackBerry Z10 - battery drains very quickly even in standby

I have had two Blackberry Z10 phones, and at work the signal is little to none at times and the battery drains and I am not even using the phone. All email accounts and other services have been set to manual update only. A friend of mine had the exact same phone but an AT&T phone mine was Verizon. He had no problem with his in the same office and the same building. Is this a CDMA only problem or a Verizon problem? Love the phones and the way they work but the battery life at work is bad, at home where the signal is 3g and pretty steady I had no probems. I am due for an upgrade in June and am trying to find out if the Z30 for Verizon has the same problem. I have used a windows phone with the same size battery and a bigger screen same location same carrier with more use and no problem.
    Thanks

What Android apps do you have installed?
Try this first off, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Watch your device another day and see how it goes.
