Blackberry Z10 Different Models Question

Hello All!
I live in India and if i were to buy a Z10 from USA unlocked from T-mobile, would it work with my Vodafone IN carrier?
Also i heard dat for future OS updates i would require a US sim card as Indian carriers would only pass updates for -001 and not -002 which are being sold in the USA!
Can any1 please verify that?
and if possible give me a workaround for future os updates?

There are basically four vaiants of the Z10 device.

That very well could be true, and appears to be true currently.
The workaround (for many) has been to follow the directions here:

  • New Blackberry Z10 User (Multiple Questions)

    1.  I used to be able to input all my email accounts online.  For example sprint.blackberry.com.  I tried att.blackberry.com; however, it indicates my operating system is no longer supported with my new device.  Does anyone know when this capability will be available for the BB Z10?
    2.  Since I no longer have access to number 1, does anyone know if I can automatically have messages I send from my phone to be forwarded or blind copied back to me?  I need to keep a record of all emails sent.  I found the email signature option - just not the blind bcc option.  This was previously avaialble with the online functionality.
    3.  When using the new Blackberry Link software... does anyone know if I can view all the changes that will be applied to my device?  For example, I used to be able to select get details for confirm calendar edits prior to accepting the synchronization.  This is extremely helpful for me since I bill based on what is in the calendar.  Having the system just place information on my calendar will not allow me to easily find what needs has been added, deleted or changed for billing, etc.  I REALLY NEED THIS FEATURE!  Is there any other way to obtain it?  I tried view the information in the log files; however, it doesn't present the changes in an easy to read format as it used to.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

What you are referring to is a function of BIS, which was required for legacy devices. BIS is not used on BB10 devices...hence, nothing associated with BIS applies to BB10 devices. To specifically answer your question...I believe the answer is never.

Again, that auto-BCC function was provided by BIS, which is not used in BB10. Hence, you must find another method. Typically, the solution is provided by your email server...you would have to talk to that admin to find out if such is available to you.

The LINK software is very different from the legacy BB Desktop Software. What you see is what is available.

  • Absolutely new smartphone user, a senior, new owner of BlackBerry Z10, will have questions a little later

I am a brand new user of a smartphone and of a BlackBerry, a Z10 from Bell, I will provide the model number as required when I have a specific question.  I am 2 days into this, still getting the "gesture" thing down pat, I am not too good at it but the Bell rep showed me.  Not a swipe off-the-table toss-away motion.  There seem to be some screen pages which don't gesture to the small box size at all, as far as I can tell, while some do, when they can be X'd off...  but they seem to go away once the main icon screen is in place for a bit...
I have a message for the BlackBerry company, and that is, please add some info on your User Guides and How-To pages on the Web [all this is being written on my laptop, I gave the Z10 a rest] for THE SMARTPHONE BEGINNER.  They generally speak to former BlackBerry owners of older models or those who know smarphones and not the person like me who has to learn to "gesture" and to tap and "hover", etc...  It's covered too quickly and too un-clearly in the videos and demos you have online.
I am afraid it might cause frustration on the part of new users...  anyway, I am persevering.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Please do persevere.
I have to admit that the Z10, as great a phone as it is, is not a beginner's phone. Even I, with years of BlackBerry experience, took a while to adapt to it. Once you get the hang of it, you'll see that it's the best smartphone you can buy. Until that time arrives, I hope you'll hang in there and give it a chance.
    Cheers.

  • Wanting to switch to Blackberry Z10: Smart or not?

I am currently using a Casio Commando, and am not happy with it.  It does a multitude of weird things almost like it's haunted.  I won't elaborate on them, but needless to say it's time for a change.
My main interest is the new Blackberry Z10, but being fair I have considered I phones (4, 4S, 5) and Motorola android phones too.  Of course reading the reviews is helpful, and sometimes confusing but, all in all I still think I want to go with the Blackberry Z10.
My Question to all of you readers is: CAN YOU GIVE ME REASONS TO BUY IT, OR NOT TO BUY IT?
I am hoping this will not be as a review, but just plain facts and honesty on each of your opinions...
    Thanks, Anxiously awaiting !!!

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been looking at different phones for a while now and have it down to the z10 and the upcoming Lumia 928, which is Verizon's version on the Lumia 920. If you haven't checked it out, do so. It's an awesome phone. Verizon's version will be thinner and have a couple of improvements. The Lumia 928 should be revealed in about a week, and hopefully debut on Verizon this month.
I also considered the Note 2, but my wife has an s3 and I'm not too sold on it. There's also the galaxy s4 to consider, coming out on May 30th.
The z10 looks awesome, though. I've played with it at stores and it's really smooth. The browser is awesome(and I've tried them all.) I've read tons of reviews, check out posts, heard pros and cons, and the only thing that most people seem to not like is the lack of apps. Some don't think the camera is up to par with the latest devices. Some don't like Verizon's slow updates on the device. And of course a few want a 1080p screen and a quad-core processor, but the screen seems great and from what I've read it really doesn't need that powerful of a processor(the iphone 5 seems to be doing just fine on a dual-core one.)
I say get it now(you have two weeks in which to return it) or wait for the Lumia 928 or s4. Or just check out those three phones in reviews and pick which one you think suits you best.
I'm (im)patiently awaiting the Lumia 928, but am very close to just getting the Blackberry Z10.

  • Z10 3G model software crashed

I have bought the BlackBerry Z10 3G model back in April 2013, end of June 2014 I am having issue with phones auto restart, auto off, system crashed, hang, applications couldn't be open.
On the 8th of July, I have send in my device into your Expert Center with the work order W01167022. The tecnicians stationed there couldnt solve the issue and sent to the factory. After 2 weeks they call me for collection, I went to collect on the 20th of July. I was told that the phone COULDN'T BE REPAIR. Therefore I was replaced with a brand new phone Z10 3G model.
Everything was nomal for 3 days, for 3 DAYS ONLY. On the 24th of July itself, I started to face the same problems each and everyday when I am out of town on a working trip. Each and every day I can suffer up to 8-10 times of auto restart, auto shut down but no turning on, crashed and applications can't be open. THE SAME PROBLEMS I HAD PREVIOUSLY.
I was given a brand new phones and yet in 3 days I faced the same exact problems I had. I have sent in my phone dated 1st of August today again due to your expert center was closed for Hari Raya public holidays.
I demand a full explanations from BlackBerry, not from your services center agent but directly from BlackBerry office. In this case, I remain the rights to ask for a full refund or upgrading to a brand new phones model which do not have problems I had faced. For further actions, I remain the rights to file in a law suit against the BlackBerry Company for my data lost and the losses I suffer for my business and work. In 3 working days where I do not get a reply from BlackBerry Company, I shall proceed with my further action against your company. In addition, I will provide a full report and statement to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commissions for further investigation upon my case.
I will make a public statement in order to achieve public notification in your products faulty and poor services to the extend that your product will be boycott by the publics.
Therefore, I strongly urge the BlackBerry Co. reply and approach me as soon as possible. You can reach me anytime at **Removed**@gmail.com
Edit: Email  removed. At no time should you provide any personal information to any other community member. Please review the Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions of Use. for further information

It seems to be related to your PC/laptop than the device. Same problem on two different phones shows investigation should be done on where you connect then maybe the problem will be fixed

Which type of Blackberry Z10 model and software fits me better with my carrier having 3G+ and EDGE and sitting in Central Africa region.
    Best Regards,

    Hey charry4G,
    Thanks for the reply.
The APN settings are disabled on all BlackBerry Z10 smartphones as the APN settings are hard coded from the SIM card.
Contact your network service provider if you're having trouble getting a data connection.

  • Does Verizon ever provide a different model phone if the customer has basically had the same issues with 3 prior 'replacemet' (refurbished) phones?

I have owned a Samsung Galaxy Stellar for the about the past year and a half, which is only my second smartphone. I am not a whiz at all this but I'll try to be coherent. I had problems with the Stellar  from the beginning: Very slow loading browser, problems with the cursor, etc. After about 6 months, the phone dropped, and no, I didn't throw it on the ground!
I have insurance and it was still under warranty, so it was replaced, by Assurian, I believe. The replacement phone had the same problems, plus a whole lot more. During calls, the wifi, and/or Bluetooth options would appear, or the phone would suddenly go on mute. In addition, when I tried to access my voicemail, what I heard was my own voice and outgoing message, not the one from Verizon asking for the password. These problems were intermittent, which made the Verizon employees  dubious, but it's like the car that you take to the garage that suddenly works fine. Anyway, there were some other problems too, so I got a replacement phone again, which is the phone I currently have had for about 3 months. A few days ago it went from bad to worse. In fact it went Crazy!: Every call I make or receive is immediately dropped. Maybe after 5 or 6 tries, I can  complete a call, but rarely. When I do, the mute and speaker options spontaneously activate, at the same time!!  When I go into my voicemail, the messages are deleted in rapid fashion, one after the other, and I cannot get them back.   Or, as I said earlier, the Wifi/Bluetooth screens appear, and it's difficult to punch in any numbers as I have to hit the back arrow many times. Strangely, the phone makes odd sounds: It buzzes or makes this odd chiming sound! If I didn't know better, I would think that I have finally lost my mind! I could go on but you have the gist.  The phone is simply not workable. I  phoned tech support, and she was very nice. After an hour on the phone, it worked ok, until the following day. She didn't do a factory reset, but she had me take the sim card and battery out. She did things on her end, which unfortunately I don't recall, but the phone worked ok until the following day, when it went crazy again.
I took it to the corporate Verizon store where I live, The guy said "It's a lousy phone, a cheap, bottom of the line phone." By the way, throughout this time, I had had about 6 hours with tech support, between this phone and the last one.
THIS IS MY QUESTION: I asked him if I could have a totally different phone, since this model is clearly defective. He said no, but they could send me another replacement. He told me to call trech support  while I was there in the store and ask them, because they don't do repairs at the store. The tech on the phone  told me the issue is with my Gmail account! That there is a virus on some phones and each time I get a replacement phone, because I have kept the same Gmail account, the virus keeps getting 'transferred', for lack of a better word, to the next phone. I was totally incredulous. Virus? She said, "Well, I use the  term loosely, but it's just a weird glitch. When you get a replacement phone, bring it back and we'll save and upload all your data, and set  you up with a new email account." I was confused and annoyed, as I had never heard of this, and felt I was getting the runaround. I asked her if they could give me a different phone (free of charge) and of course the answer was no. By the way, I should mention that the Stellar is no longer made. These are my options, according to the 3 different Verizon employees I spoke with: I am eliblele for the early upgrade which they call the Edge. From what I understand, it's the full retail price paid out over 2 years, with a partial payment made at time of purchase. One person told me that after 24 months, they would accept what I paid as payment in full? Sounds too generous. Option 2 is $50 of a new phone, and option 3 is to buy a new phone at a Verizon store that is having an android sale. So, I acquiesced to getting another replacement which I will keep until I buy a new totally different phone. My impression is that it's not like buying a bad toaster. They don't refund your money and let you get whatever you want for the same price! My question is this: Does Verizon ever just replace a phone that has had problems, with a totally different model? I have made as much of a stink as I can muster towards that end, but I am wondering if anyone out there has actually been able to pull that off?
Thank you for any feedback ,comments or stories!

amysue, We defintely want you to have a reliable and working phone. Our apologies that you have had issues with the current model, the Galaxy Stellar. After reviewing information about the overall function of the phone, it does not appear that Samsung has recalled the device or stated that all Stellar devices are defective, with that being said, the warranty would still only cover the same make and model. The only time a completely different phone is sent out is if the manufacturer deems the entire make and model overall faulty. It is common to have a few glitches and a master/factory reset, in addition to all other troubleshooting, will help resolve these issues. The Stellar is no longer made because there have been several Samsung galalxy devices launched, and this is common with any device manufacturer. Our recommendation is to take advantage of EDGE, if you are seeking a new device with low monthly payments. This gives you the chance to explore different device options without having a contract and you can EDGE up to a new device once meeting certain requirements. We hope to resolve your concerns here or by calling customer support.

  • Must-know BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 tips and tricks

Check out the following must-know BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 tips and tricks to get the most out of your new BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
    1) BlackBerry 10's Built-In Screen Shot Feature
Capturing a screen shot on a BlackBerry 10 device is simple. Just hold both the volume up and volume down keys simultaneously for a couple of seconds until you hear a shutter sound. Screen shots are saved to your BlackBerry 10 camera gallery.
    2) Volume Up/Down Keys as Media Controls
You can use your BlackBerry 10 device's volume up and volume down keys to skip through songs in your music librery. To enable this feature, open your BlackBerry 10 Settings by dragging down from the top of your display while on your Active Frames screen or a home screen panel. Choose Settings from the dropdown menu and click System Volume. On the following page, slide the Music Shortcuts button to the On position.
    3) Volume Up/Down Keys and the BlackBerry 10 Camera
You simply tap your BlackBerry Z10's display with the camera or video camera open to snap an image or start recording a video clip. But it's sometimes easier to use the volume keys. Just tap the volume up or volume down keys with the camera open to snap and image. And you can also use these keys to start and stop video capture when your camera's video mode is enabled.
    4) Instantly Launch Voice Control
The BlackBerry Z10 can initiate lots of different actions based on voice commands thanks to its Voice Control app. And you can instantly launch Voice Control by holding your device's mute key for a couple of seconds.
    5) Launch BlackBerry Camera from Lock Screen
BlackBerry 10 lets you quickly launch your camera application from its lock screen, a feature that can be valuable when you want to take spur-of-the-moment shots. A camera icon appears in the bottom-right corner of the locked display screen, and you can hold it for a couple of seconds to launch the camera app.
    6) Advanced BlackBerry Hub Inbox Controls
The BlackBerry Hub is the central inbox for all of you various BlackBerry 10 application notifications and messages. You can access basic Hub controls by clicking the Menu key at the bottom right of your Hub screen. (The Menu key looks like three dots stacked on top of each other.) But you can also access some advanced BlackBerry Hub controls from the date bars that appear in the inbox stream at the start of each new day.
Just hold a finger on a date bar to bring up controls that let you skip to the start of the past day, the start of the next day, jump to the top of the BlackBerry Hub, jump to the bottom of your BlackBerry Hub or mark all prior messages as read.
    7) Speedy BlackBerry 10 Navigation
The BlackBerry 10 OS can be broken down into three main components: The BlackBerry Hub; the Active Frames screen; and your application panels. You can do navigation through these components using a basic set of swipes and gestures. But you can also use the tiny slider tray that appears at the bottom of the Active Frames screen and all of your home panels. Just tap a specific panel in the slide to navigate directly to that panel without scrolling. Touch the Active Frames square, which is composed of four smaller squares, to jump directly to your active apps page. Or tap the Hub button, which looks like three horizontal lines on top of each other, to navigate right to the Hub.
    8) See Your Battery Life Status as a Percentage
The BlackBerry 10 OS does not currently allow you to set your battery-status indicator to show a specific percentage, only a battery icon. But you can check your device's hardware settings for a more specific battery status. Just open your device's Settings by sliding down from the top of your Active Frames or application-panel screen and choose Settings from the dropdown menu. Then click About. On the following screen, change the Category menu from General to Hardware. You'll see a battery percentage listed in the Hardware information.
    9) BlackBerry 10 Boot Status as a Percentage
Whenever you restart or power up your BlackBerry 10 devices, a BlackBerry logo appears with a status bar that encircles it. The status bar shows you start-up progress, but you can also view that progress as a percentage number. Just hold your finger anywhere on the BlackBerry logo and a progress percentage appears.
    10) BlackBerry Z10 Keyboard Tips, Tricks and Shortcuts
You can type special characters using the BlackBerry 10 virtual keyboard by holding your finger on top of a letter with associated special characters (e, a, i, o, u, y, etc.), and then sliding your finger over to the character of your choice.
Quickly sliding your finger downward from the top of your keyboard to its bottom cycles through the number and character screens so you don't have to tap the number/character screens button, which can slow down typing.
And you can delete an entire word instead of just individual letters by swiping leftward from the backspace key toward the center of your keyboard.

    Hey alexsgv,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
What type of email accounts are added to the BlackBerry Z10?  Are they all POP3 and IMAP accounts?  Also when a message is removed from the BlackBerry smartphone it will remove it from the mail server, this is by design.
Did you do any software updates recently?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Problems with the location on facebook blackberry z10

    hi ,
my blackberry z10 facebook application doesn't show my location when i update a status or a check-in
i will be pleased if you could help me to solve this issue

This is a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released their latest "untested" browser. The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
