Blackberry Z10 - Speed dial

The speed dial captions include only the first name and even when I change the sort command in the contacts by first or last name the captions are not affected which precludes from having speed dial for two contacts with the same first name. Is there a way to edit the caption of a speed dial?

Add a picture of that that contact!

  • Speed Dials on BB Z10

Could someone explain to me on how to set up speed dial on the new Blackberry Z10? Any help would be much appreciated.

You can set upto 9 speed dials by touching and holding on any contact and mark them as a favorite.
Open your contacts... find one to make a speed dial. Touch the start outline under their name.
Or, Touch the lower right three dots, and touch Add as Favorite.

  • Speed dial on Z10

I have added few names on the speed dial by tap the star icon. I cannot tell where is the list of the speed dials I assigned; the help menu on BB says that the list will appear at the top of the screen, but I do not see it and there is no indication next to the names I assigned speed dial to...
I am new to BB Z10 and would appreciate any help
    Cheers

Speed dials will be on your Calls tab in the Phone app.  You can add the first two by pressing one of the Add Number boxes next to the voicemail icon.  This will take you to the contact list where you can select the person/number you want to add.
Once these have been added you can add additional numbers to your speed dial in one of two ways.  First is to go to the Contacts section of the Phone app and tap on the person you want to add.  Then long press on the number and select the * from the side menu.  The other way is by long pressing on a number in call log.  Then press the * in the side menu

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

  • Sister's Blackberry continues to dial my number when she says phone is locked

I'm not sure what model Blackberry my sister has, but here is the issue.  Keep in mind that she doesn't know a whole lot about how to use any of the functions of the phone.  It was a gift and she only uses it as a phone.  Here is the problem.  She continues to call my number very frequently at all times of the day or night.  The calls fill up my voice mail because she is not intending to call.  As a matter of fact when I call her back she claims her phone is locked and in her purse.  This appears to be true because on the voice mail all you can hear are muffled voices or just surrounding sounds.  This only appears to happen to my phone number which leads me to believe she must have my number assigned to a speed dial and if she reaches into her purse for something she is accidentally hitting that button.  She claims she does not even know how to set up speed dial, or use it so it is very unlikely she has my phone number assigned.  I also know that it is not a redial situation because it happens even after I have not called her or she called me in several days.  Since my phone is not a Blackberry and I don't know anything about Blackberry's, I can't help her find the answer and since it is more a problem for me than for her, she won't take the time to try to find the answer.  I am at wit's end and have had to turn my phone off at night in order to not get these random calls from her phone.  Please, please, if you know why this could be happening, please let me know.

  • How do you unlock a SPEED DIAL entry

Speed Dial 1 is for my voicemail, but I need to change the information and it won't let me do it.  There is a "lock" icon to the right of the entry.

    handymandf wrote:
This doesn't work.  Using the enter or ok buttons only dials the number.  And if I try the Menu key there is no option to edit or delete the entry like other speed dial entrys.  The #1 entry is locked.
    Correct.

  • Please Help. Message pops up when I try to connect my blackberry z10 to Linc.

    Please help.
I downloaded the Linc Software and also restarted the computer numerous times.
Each time when I try to connect my blackberry z10 to my computer the following message pops up:
    "Files Needed
The file 'rndismpx sys' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK."
Please help I have no idea how to make my new z10 connect to the Linc because this message keeps poping up and I don't have any CD's.
    Thanks so much.

Never give up:  Unininstall Link then do a search and remove all BB and Link files.
Reinstall Link, if you still have the same issue uninstall Link and all BB files.
Depending on what you want to do attaching phone and computer BB Device Manager might be sufficiant
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Z10/DIAL-KEYBOARD/td-p/2662937
If you do install BB Device Manager and have the same issue it could be computer related.
Before doing the above check to see if you have the file    rndismpx.sys   on your system, it is located here:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers     probablly not there.
Two choices: uninstall SP3 and reinstall  or find the file on another computer copy it then paste it in the location mentioned above.
XP is 12 years old and normally OS is supported for 8 years but was extended for 4 years.
April 8 2014 all support for XP ends, that means no more Security or any Updates.
Eventually you will have to get a new computer. Only 4 months left.
You could check again on the Web for that file, it should be available.

  • Where is the speed dial list?

I want to change the speed dials on my Pearl 8120 but I'm having trouble finding the list. Here is what the manual says:
"Change the contact assigned to a speed dial key
    1. In the phone, press the Menu key.
    2. Click View Speed Dial List.
    3. Click a contact or phone number.
    4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • To change the contact that is assigned to a speed dial key, click Edit. Click a new contact.
    • To assign the contact to a different speed dial key, click Move. Roll the trackball to move the contact to the new speed dial key.
    Click the trackball.
    • To delete the contact from the speed dial list, click Delete."
The problem is, when I press "Menu", there's nothing even remotely like "View Speed Dial List." Anybody know where this is hidden?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Press the GREEN dial key, then the MENU key which is the key just left of the trackball.

What's the easiest way to pull a list of current speed dials already set up?

Press talk > press blackberry button > view speed dial list.
    Hope that helps.

  • Speed dial tones

It appears that the AT&T 8820 has a software "feature" that the 8800 did not have.  When speed dialing (like holding 1 for voicemail), the quickly dialed tones play out loud out of the speakers.  I do not want this.  RIM told me that it is by design.  None of my 8800s do this, but all the 8820s I had on hand did it.  When a user is in a meeting and wants to check voicemail, the last thing he/she needs is to have the speed dialed numbers played over the speaker of the BlackBerry.
RIM had no answers. Is there a way to suggest product enhancements to them that they might take seriously?
    Thanks

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

It sounds like they had a pretty firm answer for you, actually.
What OS on the 8820 are you running? On OS 4.5, you can set the BB to Quiet or Vibrate profile, and those speed dialing DTMF tones are silenced.
    Good luck.
