Blackberry z10 water damage

I dropped my phone down the toilet (haha yeah), it was fully submerged in water but I took it out straight away, took the battery out and dried off as much as I could with a napkin, I then shook it abit to get away access and placed it and the battery in plain rice and left them over night, he next morning the front and back camera where slightly condensated, I left the phone to dry for another day close to radiators where it could be slightly warm to dry, I out in the battery and out it in charge, the red flashing light came up, then the orange, now it is constantly green when still on charg, if I take the battery out and put it in again the screen lights up but nothing happens! Someone help!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With water damage, results are completely unpredictable. Given what you describe, I would deduce that your device was completely destroyed by the event. The only thing you can try is the rice again, with that container in a warm spot, and leave it in the rice for perhaps 5 days. I honestly doubt it will help...having now already applied power to it prior to it being completely dry has likely done even more damage.
Good luck!

  • Z10 water damaged

    Hi,
I have dropped my Z10 into the toilette. It was on, but when I've took it out it was off already. When I've tried to turn it on, red light appeared and for some seconds Blackberry logo appeared on the screen. The logo never reappeared again during my next tries to turn it on. I left it to dry indoors and about 24 hours later I managed to dissassemble it, taking out the motherboard, but not the screen. I rinsedthe motherboard and the inner back cover with distilated water and left it to dry. Tha some half a day later I also rinsed it with 96% Alcohol and left it to dry for some 5-6 hours and I also used the cool dryer for couple of minutes. I put it back together and no red light was on anymore neither. The phone doesn't seem to start at all, so I tried to check whether is a screen issue by connecting it via HDMI cable to a TV screen. No device was detected at all. For all my tries I used a spare battery and not the water damaged one. Is there any risk that I've caused a short circuit? Or is there any chance that the phone might still have some wetness inside? In any case now it's reassambled and buried in rice and I plan to keep it there for 2 days.
Thank you all for the suggestions and the ideas! You are a great team!

It is unfortunate that you tried to apply power before fully drying it out...such can cause permanent damage. The best method is to not apply any power until you have done all that you can to dry it.

Yes, of course there is...but an an internet-distance, there is no way for anyone to know for sure.

    Also yes. Anything is possible.

I suggest 5 days minimum, and also in a properly warm place.

  • Blackberry 8520 Water Damage

PLEASE HELP ME I WAS IN THE BATHE WATCHING SOME SMOSH AND THEN IT FELL AND THEN I BLOW UWITH DRYER PLS HELP ME QUIK

Hear is the deal. If you drop you BlackBerry in liquid or spill liquid on it there are three important factors.
    1. Remove the battery immediately.
    2. Let the device dry thoroughly. Do not put the battery back to test if it is dry.
    3. The liquid. The closer to pure distilled water the better for the device and you. Sugars minerals, etc cause electrical connectivity where there shouldn't be (shorts), corrosion, and other problems.
Number 2 is where most people blow there chances. My guess is you didn't dry the device sufficiently. Unfortunately, any damage is permanent.

  • Water Damaged Blackberry Storm 2 9520

Hi, I got rugby tackled into a lake with my BB in my pocket a few weeks ago and the phone got wet. i took the battery out straight away and then dried the phone in a bowl of rice for a few days. when i put the battery back in the phone worked fine for about a week and then the screen started to stop working sporadically before packing up altogether. the little water damage indicator on the phone has turned red but the one on the battery hasn't. even then the red LED still came on when i put the battery in and the 4 little call, menu, back, and hang up lights came on too. about two weeks later i had the device charged in my bag when i went into an old wifi spot i used and i heard the phone recieving emails, bbms and facebook notifications so it all still worked. i was fiddling around with it the other day and i could see thep phone was trying to load up when i plugged it in although the screen was very dim as if the backlight wasnt working. after a long time (maybe and hour or so) i looked at it again and could make out that there were a list of specifications and numbers on the screen in tiny print and a small icon in the centre of the screen that said "reset" on it. i tried to click this but the touch screen wasnt working so it didnt work. i was wondering if anyone knew if theres any way of fixing the phone?

It is possible, though difficult, to replace the LCD and Capacitive screen on the 9520. For the cost, it really isn't worth it.
If your Storm is powering up, I'd MAKE CERTAIN you backup using the BlackBerry Desktop Software, immediately, so at least your data is preserved.

  • What do I do if my Blackberry Curve gets water damaged? Lots of concerns...?

Okay, so I was getting a pedicure with my aunts and my phone fell off my lap into the tub of water at my feet, which was, thankfully, clean. The warranty had finished two months ago and i freaked out. I immediately pulled it out and my aunt advised me to pull the battery, SIM card and micro sd card out, which i also did immediately. I started tapping it on a towel from all sides to get most of the water out, i tapped until the water stopped coming out. I then left the back open and let it dry overnight, the next afternoon i put the battery back in and discovered that the keys were not working although the trackball would scroll through the home menu icons. I took the battery and other stuff back out, blow dried it on cold air for half an hour or so, and googled water damage. It said that i should keep the battery out of the device for 3-5 days. Im wondering, since i only had the battery in the device for about 2 hours and after it had partially dried out, will that have any permanent damage?
Also, the many websites i visited advised putting the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice to suck out the moisture and i was wondering, could i put the battery cover back on while in the bowl of rice without affecting its moisture sucking action? I dont want to take the chance of getting a bit of rice stuck in the little cracks and openings in the back, since people commented that that could happen.
One more concern of mine is that some websites said that i MUST take the blackberry apart and dry it out by hand with Q-tips and wipe everything down. They link to youtube videos of how to safely dissemble a blackberry device. I'm not exactly an expert and i dont want to ruin my phone so is that really a must or a just to make sure?
The phone took its swim on friday and im leaving it to dry til thursday to give it the full five days suggested. Should i keep going at it with a blowdryer? or can i leave it to air dry for the next couple of days?
When i had the battery in for those 2 hours, everything looked normal and i was receiving calls and getting messages and all the sounds and LED lights were working like normal, it was just the buttons that were not working, not the keyboard or the convenience keys or the lock and mute buttons at the top or the clicker behind the trackball although that was scrolling. The device didn't get a blurry screen or sound any different or anything, just the keys. Is there any chance it might come through?
    Thanks in advance

whenever any electrical equipments drop in water the best thing to do is to turn it off dry it and leave it for a week.
i always drop my phone in water >< but it still works=).
    Good luck

  • Blackberry Z10 has deleted all my emails from all my accounts...also it has deleted emails from server side (OS Rev. 10.1.0.4181)

    It's happened a bad thing.
My Z10 (OS 10.1.0.4181) has decided to delete, from all my email account , each emails from july to today!!!! It's unacceptable!!! I have paid 700 Euro for a smartphone that delete my email?! It has deleted also emails from the server!!!
    WTF!!!
Who pay for damage that I had?! So Blackberry, wake up! I am so disappointed!
I pretend an answer from blackberry!!! Now!!!!

    Hey alexsgv,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
What type of email accounts are added to the BlackBerry Z10?  Are they all POP3 and IMAP accounts?  Also when a message is removed from the BlackBerry smartphone it will remove it from the mail server, this is by design.
Did you do any software updates recently?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Water Damaged Curve 8310

    Hello!
Unfortunately I put my Rogers Curve 8310 through the wash a couple of weeks ago, and no amount of rice and blow-drying could save it.  I've met people who have swam for half and hour and saved their BB's, but I figure it had no chance after soap and a spin cycle.
My question is this:  Does RIM have any program for replacing water damaged phones?  My best friend recently dunked his iPhone 3Gs in a toilet and they sent him a box the next day, he popped it in, and a week later he received a brand new 3Gs in the mail for $229 cdn, which is a hell of a lot more palatable than the $800 retail price.
    Thank you!

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know if water damage is covered under warranty. If you have insurance on your phone then you should be able to pay the detuctible to get another BlackBerry. If you contact your carrier they would be able to tell you.

  • Minor Water Damage

The trackpad on my phone is working, but often only when I hold down alt, and when im on the bbm menu I cannot scroll onto specific chats. So, i found out I must have had water damage but I have not done anything serious to it - hence why the water indicators on my blackberry and on the battery are still completely white. So is there anything i can do to fix the tracker pad? Or do I still have to leave it to dry for a few days?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There is also a possibility that the board that contains the power port was affected by the spill.
It would have been better to have allowed the MBP to dry for a minimum of 72 hours before putting power to it. It's still possible that the board still has some moisture on it which is causing it to malfunction. It's possible that once the board has fully dried out, it will work again. If not, it will need to be replaced.
Water is generally the least harmful spill because it does not contain acids or sugars.
To test the charger, simply try one that is known to be good. Or test yours on another Mac. I imagine that the charger is OK, but if the tip got wet, it needs to dry thoroughly.
Look in the System Profiler and see what it has to say about the health of your battery. If it says normal, the battery is likely OK.
It sounds like there hasn't been enough time for anything to actually corrode, but lingering moisture could be causing your problems.
    Good luck!

  • Charged $299 for water damage, from an occassional rain drop in top charging port

I have been charged $299 for water damage to my motorola Droid. The water is from an occassional rain drop coming in the top charging port. I contend that is a design flaw. Anybody else run into this?
    Subject shortened.
Message was edited by: Admin Moderator

Of course it is a design flaw.  That is why I have a Casio Commando. My first smartphone was a Verizon blackberry and it was the worst for water damage...it got a foggy screen after being through a rainstorm inside a water resistant bicycle handlebar bag.  No phone should suffer damage from casual contact with water, folks.  People are 70% water after all.  You could put some of these in your pocket, go jogging, and ruin the phone...sort of defeats the purpose of the phone don't you think?
Good to see that Verizon was so reasonable about repairing it, don't you think?

  • Question about Water Damage

Anyone who has had a similar experience to this I'd really appreciate knowing the outcome.
My phone is currently in a bowl of rice. I have tried turning it on (before I knew I wasn't supposed to) and it turns on fine and the trackball lets me scroll around but none of the keys work. Does this mean it has short-circuited or is there still a chance that the keypad will start working in a few days once it dries out properly?

For reference, the rice solution is documented here:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Got_Your_BlackBerry_Wet%3F
It would be inaccurate to say 100% that it will work or will not work -- it all depends on circumstances; anecdotally, there are reports on both ends of the spectrum. Hence, if someone wants to try it, they certainly should...but they should not expect anything at all...they should just wait and see what happens. Water damage is one of those things that, quite simply, has unpredictable results.
    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Z10 Second can't detect Sim card

    Hi All
I just bought a Blackberry Z10, secondhand from people I met from Internet
The Blackberry is still kinda new, used only for a month. And I got it pretty much cheaper
But the problem is, this Z10 can't detect sim card (yes the previous owner been telling about this before. She said its happened after she's upgrading the software)
So, I bought it, and re-installed the software (10,2 - 10,3 - even back to 10,1) still not working.
I'm trying to search the similar issues on Google, and found that it possibly because the simcard reader is broken
I check the simcard reader, I'm not really sure, but yes, seems there one pins missing on there. I saw only 3 pins on my Z10 simcard reader. Haven't seen any other Z10. Would you mind to check your Z10? How many pins on there?
And also, does the warranty will cover this issues if I claim it? I mean, it seems because human-error (previous owner might put the sim card not really carefully).
If not, how much it cost to fix it and change the simcard reader part? Well think I'm not gonna gambling anymore to buy a cheap gadget in the hope I can't fix it by myself
    Thank you for help!

    Hi Aliarroughi
