Blackbery Torch 9810 Hardware Problem..

I Bought A Blackberry Torch 9810 Few Weeks Ago, And Trid To Upgrade My Phone From 7.0 to 7.1 OS But Was Not Able To Do From My Home So When I Went To The Blackberry Service Centre For The Upgrade Of OS 7.1 From 7.0 They Said That The Upgrade Cannot Be Done Due To Hardware Problem And Your Phone Will Be Sent To Bangalore For The Same Querry For 15 Days.
Plz Help Me What Should I Do, My Phone Is Brand New And They Are Telling That Its Hardware Problem?
This Is What Blackberry Is?
I What To Update My Phone..

Since you said your phone is brand new & the blackberry service centre confirm its a hardware issue. are you still able to bring this brand new phone back to the carrier and exchange for another one? Since exhange with carrier for a brand new phone is faster than 15 days. If they don't allow exchange i guess your only option is wait 15 days for them to fix it.

  • Torch 9810 backup problems

    Hi all,
My BB Torch told me that a software update was available - so I selected the update. My screen now says it is Backing Up Your Data - but it has been stuck on 10% for over 24 hrs now.
I have tried removing the battery and switching phone back on again ..... but it just goes right back to the backup and I cant do anything else with the phone.
I've tried connecting the phone to the PC Desktop software, but it just says "connecting" and then does nothing more.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
This is one of the many reasons why I always recommend AGAINST any OTA updates. Nevertheless...

There are two methods of recovery for you to try:
    One:
Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting battery.
You will get three option Retry, Update Or Cancel, then click on update.
Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", then insert battery.
If this does not work, and you remain stuck on the backing up the Social Feeds database, go to the second method below.
    Secondly:
Start your BlackBerry in Safe mode.  Article ID: KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Modehttp://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow your handheld to connect. If you are prompted to upgrade, cancel the upgrade for later.
IF you cannot connect or your Desktop Software does not recognize your device while in Safe Mode, please follow the directions here to force the detect:  Article ID: KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Go to Device > delete > SELECT DATA > select to delete both the Social Feeds and Smart Card databases, and follow the remaining prompts to complete it.
Now, you can return and click to upgrade the device through the Desktop Manager, or reboot the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue the over the air upgrade.

  • OS update problem with BB Torch 9810

    Hi there
I've got a problem with my BB device. It is Torch 9810 and recently a software patch has been applied ( version 7.0.0 bundle 1465 to bundle 2406 ). After the upgrade though BB device doesn't work properly, its screen freezes, some applications ( GPS in particular ) does not work, virtual keyboard sensitivity is poor etc. Hence I need to roll back to the previous version of software however rollback option on device is disabled. I can't roll back to the previous version using desktop software either.
Please advice how to resolve the issue or provide me with a link where I can find previous OS version i.e. 7.0.0 bundle 1465.
    Regards,
    Krum Garkov

Hi kgarkov and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Plug your BlackBerry® smartphone into your PC and go to www.blackberry.com/update.  When prompted to do the update, click on View Other Versions to choose an older version of software to install.

  • OS7 browser problems on Torch 9810 (incl. dead touchscreen and migrating cursor)

The browser on the Torch 9810 has two interrelated problems. On certain mobile sites -- The New York Times in particular -- one will suddenly be unable to use the touchscreen to tap open links and the cursor will remain constantly visible, slowly migrating upwards without any input from the trackpad. This usually happens right after the first time one opens a link on the sites in question.
Also, certain sites -- again, the NY TImes, and also ESPN -- display what seems to be generic mobile sites much different from the versions that one sees on, e.g., the 9800. I imagine that this is because the sites do not recognize the 9810 browser's user agent string.
The first problem with the dead touchscreen and migrating cursor seems to be OS related, while the second one, I would guess, would seem to require mobile web site adminstrators or the like being made aware of the new user agent string.
I have the 9810 on AT&T. An update from the shipping OS (7.0.0.261) to the most recent OS I'm aware of (7.0.0.336) did nothing to resolve the first problem.
I'm hopeful that RIM will promptly address these problems.

Thanks for your response. I have already written the NY Times webmaster re: the user agent string. That site had a similar, but less annoying problem when the 9800 came out -- it recognized the 9800 as an iPhone. Presumably, they will address it. (I would not presume to tell the New York Times that it needs to be "more professional," however, unless you would presume to tell Le Monde that it needs to be "more professional." )
I'm not at all sure, though, that the sudden lack of touchscreen response and permanent/drifting cursor problem that occurs after clicking on a link is the website's fault. In all cases, the generic mobile website is simply the same version that would be encountered if one visited the site on a dumbphone. A smartphone should not react this way when being dumped over to the "dumbphone" site.
While it may be the website's fault for not being able to adequately handle a new user agent string, and consequently dumping one over to the dumbphone site version, I would think it is RIM's fault for not designing the browser so that it would not react this way on such a dumbphone site.

  • Problem with Desktop sync with Torch 9810

    I recently acquired a Torch 9810 (upgrading from a Curve 8900).
Sometimes, when I try to sync the Torch using my Macintosh (OS 10.6.8) I have the following problems:
    1.  When backing up calendars the desktop software warns me that if I continue 487 entries will be deleted on my desktop computer.  But I have the Blackberry and my Mac iCal program set so as not to delete old files.  There seems not to be an option just to update the Blackberry and leave my desktop computer alone.  The choice seems simply to sync or not to sync.  How can I ask Blackberry Desktop to modify my handheld device ONLY?
    2.  If I try to cancel a "sync" functions, sometimes the program just hangs, then I have to use "Force Quit."
    3.  Then when I reconnect the Blackberry the Mac OS tells me the Blackberry memory is corrupted and I should re-format the disk.
I did not have this problem with my Curve 8900.  What is happening?  How can I prevent this from happening again?

  • Cursor/Trackpad problem TORCH 9810

The cursor on my Torch 9810 has disappeared. No matter how much I try to rub the 'trackball/trackpad' the cursor just won't reappear.
I removed the battery, waited about 2 mins, reinserted it, but the problem persists!
Please help! What shud I do? A lot of aplications depend on the trackpad and cursor so I'm really in need of assistance.

    Hi myleemok
If a Battery pull is unable to resolve your trackpad issue, you can try a few things like Start your device on safe mode and uninstall any new application you think might be responsible for this issue and do a backup of your device :
KB17877 : How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode.
Or if you have a backup of your device then  Reload of your device Software to rule out any software issue :
KB03621 : How to Reload BlackBerry Device Software and application using BlackBerry Desktop Software.
Please try it and see if that help or you have to visit your service provider for further help.

  • Various Problems with Torch 9810

I just switched form a Torch 9800 (after having a Curve 8320) to the Torch 9810.  As requested information, my carrier is ATT; OS is 7; free memory is 2340220952 Bytes; have done a battery pull; only apps are what came with the phone, 4 ring tones, and sixtools.
I'm experiencing a number of bothersome issues with my 9810.  Please let me know if they can be resolved or they're just part of the new OS7 protocol.  If the latter, I'll just switch back to the 9800.  While none is a big deal, together they make the 9810 much less attractive than the 9800 for my uses.  Thanks much for any help you can offer.
    (1) When my phone is plugged into my computer USB, the screen with "Charge, Sync, and USB Drive" pops up constantly and is incredibly annoying.  I'm not sure why the screen exists at all -- sync is through Blackberry desktop and whether you want to charge or use as a USB device is irrelevant.  Can I eliminate this screen pop-up altogether?
    (2) When I'm composing a text, the screen does not show the number of characters used, and I can't tell whether the message is longer than one page to allow me to edit back.  Can I activate somewhere the character counter for texts.
    (3) Every time I hide the icon for Blackberry Protect, it shows up again on restart.  It seems like a good app, but I'm not interested unless it's free and the app seems purposely vague on that score.
    (4) Sometimes when I pick up the phone, it seems to change on its own from the home screen to a different random screen.  This happens even when I'm vary careful not to touch the screen when I pick up the phone.
    (5)  I can't download NYT mobile, Google search does not darken a choice when my cursor stops over it, and I can't move some apps (e.g.., Bloomberg mobile) from the download as it doesn't give me the choice. Are these problems with the app products as they have not yet changed to accommodate OS7 and the 9810?  If so, any idea when these apps will be upgraded?

  • Theme problems torch 9810

Since I have gotten my BB Torch 9810, I have not been able to use any other themes rather than the factory set theme, or have my BB acknowledge the fact that I have downloaded any themes. It shows up in my downloads, but when I go to switch to them they do not show up as an option. Any ideas as to why?

  • Torch 9810

I am a 1st  time owner of a blackberry product,  the Torch 9810.
I am experiencing the following problems:
    1)  Ring tone and vibration will not activate during an incoming call.  All ring tone settings have been set on,
         loud  and vibrate.
If I removed the battery and turned the phone back on, the ring tone will come back until I turned the unit
         off and on again.
    2)  The phone constantly freezes when using new applications such as the camera or surfing the internet.
Nothing I can do to unfreeze the phone, only thing that would work is to remove the battery again.
    3)  Battery will not last me more that 8 hours on stand by.
I am getting fed up with this phone and my 1st blackberry product.
Could someone shed a light on these problem.  I am better off with my old smart phone.
    Jim L.

You're confusing poor service at your wireless carrier for poor service from BlackBerry. BlackBerry supports your carrier but your carrier doesn't support you. Nothing BlackBerry can do about that.
Your anger is misplaced at BB when it should be at Vodacom.
To try and solve some of the issues I'd suggest making a full backup of the phone with BlackBerry Desktop Software. Then go to Options >type in Security Wipe in the search bar and select Security Wipe. Do the Security Wipe on the device. That will erase all your data and bring the device back to out-of-the-box condition. Before restoring your backup see how the device behaves. If it still has problems then it is likely a hardware problem needing repair. If it works then it is an issue with your data and can be fixed easily.

  • Blackberry Torch 9810 auto-rotating not working !

Hello guys my friend just bought a Blackberry Torch 9810 few weeks ago , only two weeks I think.
And yesterday she found out that the auto-rotating doesn't work - that is the first time she tried to rotate the phone because she want to stream a video.
Hard or Soft reset has been done , reboot has been done , sliders not open , no rotation lock apps has been installed.
Is this the sensor problem ? I mean , the phone is like brand new and just bought two weeks and the sensor got problem so fast ?
If anyone knows that exact and working solution please help ~
    Thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

It could be...any device designed, built, and operated by humans is subject to a defect rate greater than zero. But, at an internet distance, it is of course impossible to provide an actual diagnosis, especially if the problem indeed is hardware. Only in hand evaluation by a qualified technician can truly diagnose a hardware problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Torch 9810 won't boot up or connect to Mac or PC. HELP!

    Hi,
I have a torch 9810 that suddenly stopped working a few days ago!
When I put the battery in, it begins to boot up and stops 1/4 of the way (on the grey bar on the bottom of the screen.) When I try to connect it to a computer it doesn't register. I run Mac OS 10.5.8, which is useless for most things now - I've never been able to get photos, etc, off of the phone using that OS and the blackberry software (I'd just email them to myself.) But I do have access to a friend's Mac, who runs 10.6.8 and it doesn't register there either. I also had a friend try it on their PC. I'm desperate to recover data - the ONLY video I have of my wolf, Samson - who dies 3 weeks ago, is on that phone.
    Here's what I have done:
Left the battery out for a long time and then re-inserted.
Tried to connect on various operating systems of Mac and Windows.
Ordered a new battery (the same thing happened.)
So, is there ANYTHING I can do? @BlackberryHelp on twitter should be called @BlackberryNoHelp!
Has anyone had any luck with a data recovery service (for the same/similar issue)? If so, please recommend it.
    Thanks for your help!
    Shannyn

First off, if you haven't done so, restart your Mac. Also, if you left your iPod plugged in overnight to your Mac, your iPod was powering the USB bus in your computer - and this is why your iPod battery is completely dead. Never leave your device plugged in when the computer is in sleep mode - all peripheral ports are turned off and battery powered devices will discharge.
If you have managed to get your iPod charged, the it is time to tackle the iTunes/Apple Mobile Device Driver issues. See this article for tips on how to troubleshoot and resolve this problem - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1747

  • Blackberry torch 9810 wont start after blackberry protect updated

got alert for blackberry protect update and installed up and went to reboot now . now my blackberry torch 9810 acts like it is restarting and will not come back on. need help asap!!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you able to restart your device in safe mode as shown in KB17877?
I assume, since it's caught in a reboot cycle, when you connect to the Desktop Software it doesn't take a stable connection to reinstall your software?
If that is case, remove your battery and keep it out when you connect to the Desktop Software. You will get a pop up that the device can't connect and there should be Retry, Update and Cancel buttons. Select Update and you will then be able to reinstall the current device software version.
When the load is progressing, you will see a step that says "Wait for device initialization". At this point, insert the battery and the reload should complete.

  • BlackBerry Maps on Torch 9810

I just upgraded from a Torch 9800 to Torch 9810. When I open BlackBerry Maps I shows my current location but the BB button the return key don't do anything. On the touch screen the search and Get directions don't do anything either. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it using BB Desktop and it is the same no change.  The only thing I can do is press hang up to get out of the app. But the app stays active. I can see it on switch applications and there is no way to close it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm not sure if that's a common problem or not but because it's obviously a software glitch, you should try a battery pull if you haven't already.  Battery pulls are recommended quite often in these forums because they do wonders at solving many minor issues.  So with your phone powered on, go ahead and remove your battery.  You can then put it back in a few seconds later.
Let us know if that helps you.
