Blackerry Playbook and Homehub 3

Hey everyone, new to the forums, but thought this might be the best place to get a bit of advice
Just got a Blackberry Playbook today, its pretty cool, but having some problems with wifi connections... I have BT Infinity with a Homehub 3, and initially I had a bit of a problem getting the Playbook to connect to the homehub, but after resetting the homehub it connected no problem.
It was working fine for a few hours and now its disconnected again, I was wondering if anyone had a solution to why it keeps disconnecting? When I go into "wifi" on the Playbook, my network shows up with no problems, but doesnt connect... it also says the network is "open" and doesnt require a password, but it does have WPA2 protection.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hey, thanks for the reply guys. Oh I got mine from currys for £169 very pleased with it, its a great little device I have had it working with the internet, but the connection seems to "time out" when i don't use it for an hour or so... Sometimes it works again just by turning the wifi on the playbook off and then back on again, but other times it won't work at all, it just says the Hub3 is an "open" network and it can't connect to it.
Im going to try and delete all Hub3 data and comnect with the WPS, I did try the WPS function  a few times, but it wouldn't get past the IP allocation stage.
I had thought about changing to WEP, but there are a lot of devices in my house running off the wifi, the rest all work fine, so don't want to risk disrupting them just for the playbook.
I was wondering if other devices in the house could disrupt the playbooks connection? I sometimes think theres far too many wifi devices in our house :/

  • My experience of Playbook and RIM customer support

On Oct 26, 2012, I purchased BlackBerry 32G Playbook from
The Source. I contacted BlackBerry support on Dec 27, 2012 as I was having problem charging it using the charger that came
with the Playbook. The charging cable connects to charging port on the playbook
very loosely and it doesn’t seem to make good stable contact. After some
troubleshooting over the phone, I was told to ship the Playbook for repair.
I was issued an RMA. The Playbook was sent on
Jan 7, 2013 to Lavergne, TN for repair. I received the playbook on Jan 14, 2013
from Lavergne, TN. It came with no note as what was the problem and how it was
    fixed.
On receiving, I soon found out that I still cannot charge
the unit. Called BlackBerry Support again. I was frustrated with same questions
from call center person and she hang up on me. I called them back and it was a
different person. Customer Service representative told me that they cannot see
what repairs if any were done by their facility in Lavergne, TN. I was issued a
new. One more time, the unit was sent back to Lavergne, TN for
repair on Jan 21, 2013. This time, I put a note with Playbook for repair
department to notify me as what was the problem and how it was fixed.
The unit came back from Lavergne, TN on Jan 28, 2013. There
was no note as what was wrong with the unit and how it was fixed. I soon found
out that unit is still not charging. Called the BlackBerry Customer Service
again and I was very frustrated at their sheer inability to fix the problem.
After a very long unpleasant conversation, I was told that they will put a hold
on my credit card and will send me a replacement unit. To avoid being charged,
I need to send my Playbook in 10 business days.
Since I’m out options, I grudging agreed. They couldn’t even tell me if
the replacement unit is going to be a new or refurbished. I was issued new RMA.
I received the replacement Playbook on Jan 30, 2013. Thought
my troubles were over finally. But then I tried my charger to charge the
replacement Playbook and the chargers cable won’t fit into the Playbook. So I
called Customer Service again, this time demanding my money back and they can
    have their Playbook back.
So far I tried three BlackBerry chargers and none of them
cannot charge the Playbook. Every time, I called Customer Service, I was told
to troubleshoot the problem myself. A customer service representative that hang
up on me told me to go to any nearby store, borrow a charger from store to see
    if my Playbook would charge.
The entire month of the Jan 2013 I didn’t get to use the
Playbook. Since I cannot charge Playbook, I cannot use it at all. I got to use
it for less than 2 months and I spent over $200 for a lemon, a horrible
customer/technical support and very long headaches. I had to take Tylenol after
every call to BlackBerry customer service.

Is your PlayBook in a case by any change? I have a friend who had his in a case. When he tried charging it, the plug would not fit in properly and would not charge. Apparently, the hole cut in the case was just a bit too tight so the plug would not go in all the way. He had to remove it from the case in order to charge it up.

  • Multiple devices + 1 BBID - Playbook and Smartphone

    Based on the answers provided in the thread below;
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-PlayBook-2-0-Insider/Multiple-devices-1-BBID/td-p/...
    I do not understand the following statement;
App World supports one simultaneous BBOS device and one PlayBook, and only 5 switches each per year (a maximum of 15 unique device switches per product line per year)
I have a Playbook 64GB and Strom2 9550. My Storm 2 is on BIS and Playbook connects via WiFi or sometimes tethered through Storm 2. So, both my devices would be logged into my Blackberry ID. I would be using App world many times on both the devices, not simultaneously. Does every switch between Playbook and my Storm 2 switching counted as "unique device switching"? If that is called so, I would be reaching 15 switching in a day or two.
For some reason, at the time of my Playbook purchase, my Storm 2 was not on BIS, because of carrier problem. I switched to another carrier and now, just got my BIS running on my Storm 2. But I have not logged into the Storm 2's App world using my Blackberry ID yet.
Can some one give a clear definition of "unique device switch" ?

No. Those are the "simultaneous" use.

Changing your device from a Storm2 to a new Torch (i.e., a new handheld device PIN) would be a unique device switch.

  • BlackBerry PlayBook and Internet Explorer?

I am a small business owner and Mac user. My business, however, uses a website that works only with Internet Explorer. In the past I have needed to have a small notebook PC in order to access the site and it is time to get a new computer.
I really would like to check out the new BlackBerry PlayBook and will definitely buy one tomorrow (or Tuesday?)  IF it is possible to use IE on it! I really don't want to spend the money for a PC which would be used only for one purpose (I use my iMac for all other computer needs and my BlackBerry 9780 Bold for a phone. Microsoft stopped supporting Macs after version 5 or 6 of IE so that is the ONLY reason I have a PC.)
Oh please please PLEASE tell me that IE will be compatible with the new tablet!?
Anybody know? If not, might as well get an iPad -AND a new notebook PC -AND a new iMac, right?

Do you know why ? There are only two reasons:
either the website uses ActiveX scripts, and in that case you are out of luck
or the webmaster is simply lazy to convert the website to the W3 and ECMA standards, and in that case you can try and convince them. Once that is done, your website will work on any browser including Safari, Opera, MozillaFirefox and InternetExplorer.

Internet Explorer is currently available for Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows Mobile, excluding all other operating systems.

  • I've lost my yahoo email access on playbook and yahoo says it's BlackBerry's doing - please help

It's now day 2 of no playbook mail. I kept getting a yellow triangle saying yahoo account not available or couldn't access. The yahoo site says blackberry has done this and blackberry  is working to resolve - is this true ?? If so it seriously sucks, as my internet provider is Rogers, just like many people, and Rogers uses yahoo mail. Can someone p,ease confirm and help with thus? B TW:  my iPod email is working fine, so its not my Rogers/yahoo email that's the problem. Thanks for your help, Carolxi

Hi TroyTempest, here is the reply link you asked for from yahoo. My issue is how to regain my e-mail. I have outlook on my pc, but Rogers has this downloaded from the yahoo account anyway, so I can't figure out how to fix this. I would be extremely grateful if you could help, perhaps list steps if there is an answer? Thanks so much.

That article was last updated March 16th 2012.  I don't think we would have put up with this problem for that time would we???
All you can do is delete the account and add it back taking care with the account details.
If people with Rogers email accounts say their Playbook works fine then it ain't the Playbook OS, it's the way it interacts with Your playbook and Your Rogers account.  It's in the settings I would think, but everybody with email problems should delete and re-add as first line of attack.

  • Playbook and Windows XP : Media Options are not available

Hi, hoping someone can help me as two lengthy calls to RIM have yielded no results.
I am running Windows XP SP3 with spec well above the min requirements for Blackberry desktop software, of which I downloaded the latest version from RIM's site today.
Software recognises the PB and connects fine (displays PIN etc) yet I get two different errors:
    1) Device Options > Media
"Media options are not available". A problem occured while attempting to connect to your Blackberry device
    2) File > Get Started (dragging and dropping files)
"Media services are not available". A problem occured while attempting to connect to your Blackberry device
I've redownloaded the BDM software twice (both options for PC > and Sync >) with no result. I've tried different USB ports (same wire) and the same problem.
I notice when right clicking on the Device Manager > Properties that I see under Volumes "Internal Storage Not Mounted" which I doubt is helping.
Playbook Storage and Sharing Options have fiel sharing turned on, and UBS connections = Auto Detect (tried "Connect to Windows") and no result.
    Any ideas?

I may have a workaround for all you fellow sufferers.
In your playbook tap the information icon (uppermost right corner).  Tap about and where it says view information about your tablet tap the down arrow and select network.  There you will find one or two IPV4 addresses one for usb the other for wifi.
In Windows (7 don't know about XP or Vista click on start and in the search bar type the following
    run \\either IPV4 address.
With any luck, Windows explorer will  pop up giving you access to your playbook for file transfers.
Once you have done that, and if you prefer a two panel file manager as I do for file transfers, download and install a program called FreeCommander.  This program will allow you to access a network drive from somewhere in its top menu (can't recall where at the moment and I'm not in Windows).  Up will pop a screen asking you for a drive letter to be assigned (take your pick) and a location.  In this area type \\either IPV4 url\media.  You should now be able to access this drive from FreeCommander and easily transfer files to and from your playbook and computer.
Don't guarantee that this will work for you but it has for me.

  • Junos Pulse for Playbook and 9850

I see that all BB smart phones except the Torch 9850 and the Playbook can access Junos Pulse.  I have become a developer and have coverted android apps and installed multiple applications but am unable to do so for Junos Pulse.  I am a physician who does not want to use our hospitals bulky Ipad and there is no mouse in the attached bluetooth keyboard.  I love my Playbook and the OEM keyboard.  Please, please, please, configure Junos Pulse for Playbook and the Torch.  It is essential to have at least the tablet in our healthcare environment.

For your request you need to contact the developer to have the app ported to the playbook.

  • Blackberry Playbook and library books

I cannot get the Digital Editions loaded on my PC to "see" my Playbook when it is attached so that I can download books from the library (it dos now show on the Bookshelf). PC says it is authorized.
    Thank you, Cherry

No, the Blackberry is not a supported device under ADE.   Your choice of
the term 'not native' could mean that the Blackberry is supported some
other way by ADE, which is not true.  Thus, there is no way to connect the
    Blackberry to ADE directly.
ADE does provide both library management and support for DRM-enabled
epublications.  As you point out, so do other software systems.  And
because there are other software systems that do support DRM-enabled
publications, plus other systems interface with your Blackberry, perhaps
you should look at those systems to use instead of ADE.
Yes, KOBO's desktop support for epublications is independent of, and cannot
    run with, ADE.
So, if you have alternatives, why are you asking how to interface ADE with
    the KOBO desktop?

  • How RIM lost my PlayBook, and isn't helping me get it back.

When I say lost, I know exactly where it is - at Customs, awaiting a commercial invoice from RIM. It's been there since the 19th of June. This is now the 2nd of July - two weeks later.
I sent my Playbook on a RMA to RIM to be repaired. It was a stupidly tedious process - it took RIM a full month to get the FedEx box to me. I followed the instructions and sent the PB off to be repaired (the cameras stopped working.)
Unfortunately I did not wipe it - I was not anticipating any issues. I removed the password and removed all the accounts though - email, Linkedin, Facebook.
It was repaired in a couple days and shipped back.  Took a day via FedEx to reach the local office, where it remains to this day. Customs will not clear it without an invoice which should indicate whether the repair work was under warranty or paid for by me (in which case they tax the cost of the repair).
I have been emailing customer support almost daily. They responded to the first, and subsequently they have not even bothered to acknowledge receipt. I have a whole long string of email from me, requesting info on what is going on, but nothing back. Needless to say, I am extremely annoyed.
My biggest problem, other than non-response from RIM, is that when FedEx decides that they have had the device long enough, they will hand it over to the Customs office, who will then auction it off to someone else. That means my $599 investment (I bought it in May 2011) is down the toilet thanks to RIM.
Does anyone have any ideas? Yes, I plan to phone the customer service line, but it is not a toll-free number from Barbados. So I have to get a PC and set up Skype to do it. Probably this evening. Not expecting any joy there.

    Hi,
I have a Z10 10.1 software with Telus and the updated Playbook software.
when im bridged to the playbook the bridge connection drops once and a while.  There are no other bluetooth connections around when I am in my home that could be interferring...
Are there any issues with the bridge connection?

    Hi mikeymike123,
Could you please provide as much detail as possible on this issue so we can better assist?
What version of BlackBerry Bridge do you have installed?
Do you receive any error or warning message when the connection drops?
Are you accessing any specific features when this happens?
Are you always in the same environment when you have this issue?
What steps do you need to perform to restore your connection?
I look forward to your response.

  • BB10, PlayBook and MacBook Pro OSX

Here's my situation.  Any help would be appreciated.
I work for a small-medium sized business.  We run Exchange/Outlook on Dell laptops.  I have a corporate BlackBerry Bold 9780.  We are making the move to iPhone5 this summer, and I have a PlayBook 64GB Wi-fi.
I just went out a month ago and bought a MacBook Pro because that Dell was 'less than perfect'.  I am running Mac Mountain Lion instead of Windows.  That means Mac Mail, Calendar and Contacts.  I have added my Exchange credentials and my Gmail credentials into Mail and Calendar and they are working fine.  Only hassle so far is I can't seem to create a new folder in the Exchange environment.  My exchange contacts have come across fine as well.  I don't use gmail for contacts, just for personal email and my personal and my kids calendars (sports events etc.)
But contacts is a pain in the **bleep**.  Really not happy. Syncing to exchange and keeping everything together is brutal.
Love that the PlayBook adds in LinkedIn and Twitter.  Think that contact systems works great.
I'm planning to get a Z10, (either I convince the President to not issue me an iPhone, or I go out and get one myself).
Ideally, I'd like to try to keep all my contacts somewhere where they can sync properly.  Love to bypass the corporate exchange environment for contacts if possible.
So, what's the best platform/method to do this? Is google the answer to keep all my contacts or is there something else? Outlook for Mac maybe?

You can purchase Mountain Lion in the Mac App Store and you may install it on both machines provided they meet the Mountain Lion requirements which are listed here (see 'Supported Models'):
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Once done you can set up iCloud on both Macs.

  • Playbook and Z10...

When will be have full integration??? I can not believe this is happening.... I buy the newest Blackberry and find out is not working with playbook, this a major error that needs to be fixed ASAP, not in weeks.

We only expect security fixes from now on, no OS development is likely, so no bridge fix.
