Blacklisted 8900

Hello
hoping you can help???
I have just brought a new 8900 Curve of someone on the internet and have just found out
that it is a Blacklisted phone is there anything i can do to get it un-blacklisted??
thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
How, exactly, did you learn that it is "blacklisted"?
What, exactly, did you learn was the reason for it being "blacklisted"?
If you purchased as you state, you likely purchased from an untrustworthy source, and the BB is likely stolen from it's original owner. You have no recourse except back to your place of purchase.
Good luck!

  • All contacts not syncing with curve 8900 and desktop 7

I've been trying this for a year and I've had no success. This 8900 is my 4th Blackberry. While I've done backups with the others this is the first time I've tried to sync the info. When I first synced I thought everything was OK, but then I noticed a lot of the contacts didnt sync. A lot of iportant ones. I've tried everything and hit a wall. I've gone thru all the 395 contacts, deleted a bunch, fixed a bunch and made everything ready. I've talked to Microsoft, AT&T and the BB folks and still nothing. When I synced it to my PC, 179 of 395 synced and the Outlook folder size is 297kb. I just synced to my laptop and only 124 synced and the folder size is 120kb. I checked the options on the 8900 contact list and it shows my gmail address as the name of my Contact list. I've NEVER loaded my gmail info on this or any other BB. I checked my gmail and there are NO contacts listed. Never have been. I followed the instructions, went to Default Services and there is no Contacts option, only Calendar and Messaging which have my primary email ([email protected]) as the services. I have loaded info for the Netzero email, Roadrunner email and Blackberry email. Did load the Yahoo account name but never connected it. Just checked the service books and there is no gmail info. There'sno option to rename the contact list and I can't see if there are any subfolders under it. I HAVE TO GET ALL THIS INFO TO A PLACE WHERE I CAN ACCESS IT TO TRANSFER TO A NEW NON-BLACKBERRY PHONE. I've literally spent hours researching, talking on the phone and it is still not working. I lost 3 days on it this we3ek that I was supposed to be on the other coast of Florida visiting a High School beauty thats down for a week, a cousin that's fighting cancer and  a musician friend. I worked on the highest problem parts of the Space Shuttle Boosters and worked thru some seemingly impossible problems. As a result I had a mental breakdown and now have to depend on othersm whicdh I never did before. Seems like everybody that could help or might have info isn't sharing. I CAN'T BE THE FIRST PERSON THAT'S HAD THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

  • Data Issues with New Curve 8900 on ATT

Hi, I just got this Blackberry Curve 8900 yesterday for ATT, and it's my first Blackberry. Everything was working fine up until earlier today when I realized that my data wasn't working properly. The data will work with certain apps, but certain apps with also not connect. My e-mail and BB Messenger also will not connect. The only way for me to get them to work is if I connect to wifi, but other than that on my EDGE the majority won't connect.
Here is a list of apps i've compiled that shows what works with what:
    -Works with Data & WiFi-
    BB Browser
    iheartradio
    FML
    poynt
-Won't Work with Data but will work with WiFi-
    BB E-Mail
    BB Messenger
    BB App World
    Facebook
    Twitterberry
    Myspace
    Google Maps
I went to Manage Connections, and Mobile Network Options and my data is set to on, and i've done muliple battery pulls to no avail. When I turn on my WiFi all my emails and alerts that I missed come rushing in. For example I resent a Service Book to my device and I did not receive that until my WiFi was turned on. My "EDGE" is in capital letters so i'm receiving data.
Can someone please help me solve this frustrating topic? It really is mind boggling.
    Thanks!
    Stephen B.

You have a BlackBerry Data plan right? I'm assuming so since it works sometimes
Also if you notice when the Wi-Fi is off, if you go into Manage Connections | Service Status does the BlackBerry Internet Service say it's connected to the Mobile Network? Or if you go into Mobile Network Options can you run a Diagnostics Test and see if it sees that your data is connected?

  • No Texting Ability with BES/Multiple e-mail addresses - BB 8900

    Hello all,
      1.  I recently dumped my iPhone and switched to the BB 8900, all is well except I use my BB for work and my company disabled my text message feature and IM feature.  I am able to receive text messages but I can no longer respond.  Any ideas on how to begin sending text with enterprise software, either through an app or through the web?
      2.  I have Microsoft Exchange Outlook as my default e-mail address.  From the gentlemen I spoke with in my office they notified me I could only use my outlook e-mail(corporate).  Although, I spoke with our Tech office and they notified me some individuals can have a second e-mail address.  How would I be able to add an extra e-mail (Yahoo!).
Sorry if my questions are elementary but I appreciate any helpful information.  Thank You,
    Mike

Hi Michael and welcome to the Blackberry Forums
If you can't send SMS is because your IT guys block the function, and you can't change this.
You have a setup mail icon on the device?, if yes, try setting the yahoo mail from this icon, i think you have blocked too, but try..............
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.

  • How do I remove the graphics card of my computer from the blacklist?

I want to activate Adobe Flash Player hardware acceleration, but my card is blacklisted, and reproduces any other content without any instability, but she was put on the blacklist, and not is because, and not worked before in older versions, but with new versions already content. Work me for example in KMplayer as it should work. But not in Flash Player, and would like to activate hardware acceleration, since not being activated the system slows down and content is badly reproduced. The content becomes slow, and has low FPS, so it is apparently delayed.

    Hi there
In your Single Sourc Layout properties there is an option labeled "Show Navigation Link in Topics". You need to clear that option when you generate.

  • I reported to Austin Police Department about my unlocked iphone was stolen last week. I'm ****** off that Serial number of my stolen iphone is on another Apple ID.   IMEI still is not added into blacklist.  How can I contact to Apple Inc??

I don't understand why Austin Police are not doing to detain theft when I showed an location with valid address according Find my iPhone on icloud.com.  They said that it might be wrong location but few blocks were correct location. I stopped at Apple Retail Store to get another unlocked iphone. I explained an employee whether they would add both IMEI and serial number into blacklist to make useless for anyone. They said they have nothing to doing.
I'm shocked today that IMEI number is still not added into blacklist. Serialnumber of my stolen iphone is already on another Apple ID, after restoring it.
They let me down because unlocked iphone is EXPENSIVE, it costs $800 in Canada.
How can I deal with Apple Inc to add both serial number and IMEI into blacklist UNTIL i get my stolen iphone back

What blacklist? There is no universal blacklist in the US. They're working on it, but it does not exist as of this writing.
Apple can't do anything about it. They are not a law enforcement agency.

  • How can I get my blackberry curve 8900 to update to 5.0 and get wifi to work?

I bought a blackberry curve 8900 around a year ago on an AT&T plan back when data plans werent required, so it just has minutes and texting. because of an issue i had with data before, i have data disabled completely on my account to prevent any mistaken data being used up and charging me. my AT&T contract recently expired so i called them up and got my blackberry unlocked, and will be soon switching to tmobile.
My problem is that it refuses to update past 4.6 over to 5.0 because of some restriction on it placed by AT&T, and my wifi wont work unless i have data enabled for the same reason. Is there anything i can do? I've tried installing 5.0 from different service providers onto my phone but it never installs properly.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While you can (with just a trick or two) use any carriers OS package for your specific model number, it won't do any good since all 5.0 level OS's require a data plan, regardless of which carrier. So, without that, you can't update to 5.0. Further, it is the data plan that activates BIS -- which is what is used to run the BlackBerry Browser...hence that non-functionality also. Basically, a BB without a data plan is, to many, pretty useless.
There are other browsers that bypass BIS and will use a generic data plan (assuming you have that)...OperaMini and Bolt come to mind. You might give those a try.
    Good luck!

  • Is there a way to create a "personal blacklist" in Mail?

I receive nearly 1000 Junk e-mails daily, and the Junk Filter is doing a great job of filtering them. But what I would like to do is filter my junk mail folder - so that certain specific senders I can automatically delete without deleting everything that goes into the folder. I know that I can do this by setting up rules, but it will take me a long time to enter each item individually. What I was wondering is if there is a way through either the mail program itself, or through the rules, that I can create a "blacklist" of items that I would have set to delete automatically prior to going into my junk mail folder. Ideally, it would be great if I could just somehow attach a text file to a rule that the rule would then scan through and delete anything it matches to the text file list. Does anyone know of a way that I can set-up my mail to do this, or do I have to purchase a third-party software package? Also, if I have to buy software, does anyone recommend anything? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You could set something up in Mail, to automatically delete based on sender, but it would mean cluttering your Address Book.
Basically, create a group in AddressBook for your blacklist and add these senders to it. Then in Mail, create a rule to delete the message if the sender is a member of the group.

  • I'm on a spam blacklist - how do I get off and can...

    Hi,
In the last 24 hours, my emails to two of my regular contacts have bounced back undeliverable.  I've never previously had emails returned like this unless the recipient's server is down or the address is wrong, and this isn't the case with these emails.
    One failure notice said:
"Remote host said: 550 Rule imposed as (my BT internet email address) is believed to be an open relay [RCPT_TO]"
    The other said:
"Remote host said: 550 5.7.0 Your server IP address is in the SpamCop database, bye [RCPT_TO]"
This is repeated when I try to email these contacts again. I've checked with the contacts and there are no server problems at their end.
The one about the Spamcop database particularly caught my eye. I did a search with my IP address and it does appear to be in various spam databases for some reason. Not being a technical person, I've no idea what the Open Relay message is about.
I've called BT support twice and they've been useless - they seem to think it's simply a problem with the recipients' servers.
    I have some basic questions:
First, what's the easiest way of resolving this? I've heard I can simply get BT to get me a different IP address. Is this correct?
Secondly, is there any way I can find out who got me listed in the spam databases? Unfortunately, I think I know the cause of this. I won a court case on Monday against a small internet support company. I suspect that simply out of spite, they've used my email addresss and/or IP address to  try and disrupt my business by listing me on spam databases, as the first bounceback email came two hours after the court case finished. Is there any way of finding out who added me to the blacklists?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hi. Welcome to the forums. Hope you don't mind me askig a few questions.
May I ask how you are sending your emails ? Is it using the BTinternet smarthosts or your own mail server ?
Are you a residential user or a business user with a static IP address ?
If you are a residential user using the BTinternet smarthosts (mail.btinternet.com), then you will find that pretty much all of BT dynamic IP address space is listed in one or more blocklists. In fact that will also apply to pretty much all ISPs with dynamic IP address ranges. There is nothing to worry about in this case.
Without a little extra info, it's a bit tricky to answer your latter questions.

  • Extra sound card no longer blacklisted after update, causing no sound

I'm using ALSA and Pulse Audio, and an ASUS Xonar Essence ST sound card.  My ATi video card also has a sound card, which goes to my monitor using HDMI.  While the ATi card is in use, the ASUS card doesn't function, so previously I've blacklisted it with
    echo blacklist snd_hda_intel | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
Ever since I updated yesterday, the blacklisting has been ignored, despite the line "blacklist snd_hda_intel" being in my modprobe.d/blacklist file.
Did some recent update change the purpose of /etc/modprobe.d?  Could I either properly get it to blacklist, or get the ASUS card to be used properly without blacklisting anything?

As far as I remember, all files in /etc/modprobe.d/ must end with .conf extension.

  • Fed up with blocked emails and blacklisted IPs from Verizon

Have been struggling with blocked emails and getting no help from Verizon.  When sending emails via Outlook, most are rejected whether we create them or just forward them.  Sometimes we get a spam notice, but most of the time they just disappear.  Have contacted Verizon support and they have changed the outgoing port number with no improvement.  They blame the signature block we attach to emails, but removing doesn't seem to improve anything.  They say we can't contact the spam people except by email, but that doesn't seem to get any response.  Meanwhile, the IPs that Verizon assigns us are on the blacklist.  Verizon says this has nothing to do with the problem, but I have to think that it does.  Would appreciate some help!

Verizon doesn't control the blacklist at Spamhaus. The outbound spam filter has been implemented along with other measures as part of an effort to prevent that type of block for Verizon IP addresses, but until spammers are wiped from the planet, blacklisting is going to happen.
To get off of the list, you have 2 options:
Appeal to Spamhaus to remove your IP here. Since you have a dynamic IP address, you will have to do this every time you get a  blacklisted IP.
    -OR-
You can get a static IP address from Verizon. This is the best solution for most businesses.

  • Adding contacts to my new 8900 is not working.

adding contacts from oultlook and /or outlook express to my new 8900 is not working. i tried everything from removing and re-installing the desktop manager to removing the battery of the device. nothing seems to be working.

Ah, very helpful when we have the complete information.
Desktop Manager 4.7 is not compatible with Outlook 2000, so that won't work. You will need to use DM version 4.2, Service Pack 2; or upgrade your Outlook to 2003 or better.
For Express, it should work with Outlook Express 6. Check your advanced sync settings configuration and make sure you have it set to two-way sync and to notify you.
    Desktop Manager 4.7:
The following organizers are supported for use with Intellisync:
    IBM Lotus Notes 6, 6.5, 7, 8
    Microsoft Outlook 2002, 2003, 2007
Microsoft Outlook Express 6, Microsoft Windows Contacts (Vista Address Book)

  • Keys on 8900 keyboard?

    Hi,
I had to re-purchase an 8900 (long story) and I was curious about something.  The extreme right buttons on my keyboard (P, DEL & RETURN) seem to be slightly elevated then the rest of the keys.  Same problem exists on the left side of my keyboard as well (Q, A & ALT) keys are also slightly elevated then the others.
I don't remember this on my previous 8900 so I thought I'd ask here and find out.  The best way to test it out is to run your finger across the keys and when they hit either the extreme left or right keys, you will notice a slight bump where your finger slightly raises.  You can also look at the keyboard on an angle and see it although doing it that way it might be harder to notice.  I was just curious as it's kinda been bugging me.
    Thanks.
