BlackMagic HD Decklink Noise Issue

Hi all,
Im experiencing a noise issue when broadcasting and capturing with my HD DeckLink BlackMagic Card. This weekend I was broadcasting live using the LiveKey application and I was experiencing a lot of noise in the transmission of the event. Connection was NTSC (Y in) and (Y out) this also happens using the Y, R-Y, B-Y connection too. Please help!
Regards,
Robert C.

I haven't really used the LiveKey application - have you contacted Decklink's customer support? They've been responsive for me in the past...

  • Nikon Images, Noise issues in Photoshop only

I use Nikon cameras and shoot raw files processing them in ACR and then bringing them into Photoshop. I notice that after the images are processed and saved as jpegs. when I look at the final image in a Microsoft film strip browser, the noise which shows in Photoshop disappears in that viewer. In Photoshop I am viewing everything at 100% I cannot figure out how that happens and what is the true quality of the image. I am just wondering where I can see the true final quality of the image. I would rather not use any noise reduction on the images. I do not like the quality of the image after using that tool.
I also shoot with Canon equipment and I never have and noise issue. I am aware that Nikon has noise issues at higher iso's and when the image is underexposed but I am taking that into consideration when processing, I also process in light room and Nikon capture but in those products I know that they have some different algorythums to correct the noise.
Thanks for any comments or suggestions on this issue.

Photoshop is color managed and is using your monitor profile in an attempt at accurately portraying your image. Most image viewers are not color managed.

  • Does Flash Media Live Encoder work with all the blackmagic-Design Decklink Studio?

Does Flash Media Live Encoder work with all the Blackmagic-Design Decklink Studio?

Well, I have my XH A1 Canon video camera hooked up to Shuttle Thundbolt as composite and the thunderbolt to my Macbook Pro (Late 2011 - 2.4GHz, i7, 16GB Ram) and FLM 3.2 does not see my camera.
When I hook my same camera up to my Windows i7, 2.8Ghz, 8GB Ram using my "Hauppauge capture card" as composite it can see my camera.
I'm going to try a simple VHS tape deck and see if my macbook pro can see it using the Shuttle Thunderbolt. I'm going to guess and say it won't.
I installed the drivers as well.

  • The Ever-present Fan Noise Issue

Has there been a definite resolution to the fan noise issue on the iMacs? My 20' started after about a week while I was watching a movie. I can't really work on it without having iTunes (or some other noise) in the background.
A while ago, I read a post about having it narrowed down to the "Optical Drive Fan" (or something like that) being loose/broken/cheaply built (perhaps a combination of the three) and it made sense when I looked at the back of my mac and covered the vent to listen to the difference.
I haven't heard about anyone getting this fixed and the problem being solved, but I would certainly like to. From the sounds of things, some Apple techs are a little premature to replace logic boards and mid-planes and things of the like. The one that I talked to "hadn't heard" of any noise issues and thought it might be a power supply, but I haven't had the time to take it in yet.
If someone has a definite solution (more than just speculation or complaints), I would appreciate hearing. I don't feel like waiting 1-2 weeks for a part that I don't need, if I just have to take it in to the tech for 45 minutes to tighten a fan.

programs it didn't open: limewire, clamav, onyx, menumeters, my driver for my mouse, and a few others.
CS2 took a while to load as did mac office.
the rendering in CS2 was aweful! now i know why steve said it was no good for pros.
the native apps were quick but not enough to sell me on it.
i had a rev a imac g5 with 2 gigs of ram and it screamed.
i plan to make out my new 2.1 with 2.5 and she will scream as well.
the intel duo is nice..if you like to look at activity moniter and see to cpu's but to me its not worth the hassle of dealing with beta apps and all that.
the g5 is more than capable of handling all my tasks and themsome.
i'm gonna wait to upgrade. unless they come out with something amazing this year.

  • Firmware 1.1 White Noise Issue

I upgraded to 1.1 from 1.03 and do not have the white noise issue at all. Have 2,000 songs and bunch of videos and about 100 pics. Had 0 problems, iTunes and iPod update all went 100% smooth.
Saw some bad reports, just wanted to let those thinking of upgrading that the problems mentioned do not occur 100% of the time.
I also have no unusual noises and never have had the battery draining problem.
    160Gb Classic

It is totally random, there is no pattern to it. It was the day after I updated to 1.1 before the hissing started on my player. It hasn't happened so far today but it may happen later on tonight. I had no issue with the update and all my music, photos and videos remained intact but the hiss and thumping noise you get when you remove the earphones is a real bummer and a total let-down with this new firmware. Check to see if you get the loud noise when you remove your earphones; if you are you may very well get the hissing. It's certainly happening to the majority.

  • Noise Issues

I know everyone has probably posted about these same noise problems before, but only one or two people posted audio of their noise, so I don't know if we are all on the same page or not.
I have two completely distinct noises coming from my MBP (it is a 1.83 all stock with just RAM upgraded from Apple).
The first one is a hum noise (I know this one seems pretty prevalent) that comes from the right speaker area and goes away when at full brightness or backlight off. Here is a link to a video of the noise:
    http://homepage.mac.com/jimdufek/mbp/movies/humming_noise.mov
From what I gather, this is a problem with the power inverter for the display and can be fixed by shipping back your MBP. Has anyone that had this problem shipped theirs to Apple and gotten it back? If so was it fixed properly and how long was your wait?
Second noise issue is a bit weirder. It is a squealing noise coming from somewhere in the middle or under the keyboard. It is very infrequent and if I move the MBP at a slight angle (as if it is resting on my lap) the noise goes away. I have tried PhotoBooth, Bluetooth on and off, Airport on and off, volume max and min, AC power and just battery life and none of them have any change. The noise only lasts for a few seconds and then is gone, but will come back in 10 seconds or in two hours. Below is a video of that noise:
    http://homepage.mac.com/jimdufek/mbp/movies/squeal_noise.mov
Again, does anyone have this noise and if so did Apple diagnose it and fix it yet?
I want to get my MBP fixed, but am worried that this second noise is something they will miss and I will ship my MBP only to still have this noise. I am thinking about taking it to an Apple Store (since they will hopefully be able to hear this problem), but can they fix it in store or swap it out for a new one in store?
Sorry for being so long winded - thanks in advance!
DISCLAIMER: The audio in the above videos was boosted on the camera - it is NOT that loud in real life, but it is audible with no electronic devices.
    PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz - 2.5 Gb RAM / MacBook Pro 1.83 - 1 Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Dual 23" Apple Cinema Displays / iPod 30 Gb 5th Gen

ouch that is annoying! but if its not that loud i
dont think you should be posting it at all, it'll
give a wrong impression, because that sound at that
level is annoying. but thanks for sharing!
"if its not that loud i dont think you should be posting it at all, it'll give a wrong impression". What in the world are you trying to say?! I have this same problem (two different types of whine/buzz) and it is REALLY annoying and it deserves to be brought to everyones attention. "It'll give a wrong impression"???? What the ****! GET A GRIP! Its exactly as he/she said it is. ITS ANNOYING and untill you hear this buzzing noises comming from your minute old, $3000.00 MacBook, I really don't think you will understand how bad it is.

  • FCP-BlackMagic 422 deck control issues

I have developed an issue with RS 422 deck control between my Black Magic Decklink HD Pro and a variety of Sony decks like a PVW 2800 which is my primary deck and also a DNW A25 and a DSR 1800 that I tested as well, getting the same issues.
I get an error message: “A new tape has been inserted in the VTR. You may wish to change the Reel setting.” or “Batch Capture: Tape is unthreaded” when neither is the case. They pop up randomly. Trying to find a cause and effect but it’s still random. Tried different tapes from different cameras and a DVCAM in the DSR 1800. Same thing again. I have replaced the cable with same results.
    Hardware/software rundown is 2 x 3 GHz Dual Core Xeon w/ 8GB 667 DIMMs, OS 10.4.11, Decklink 6.2.2, Quicktime 7.4.1. FCP 6.0.2.
I sent a note to BlackMagic Designs and got this: 'This is a known issue with the Apple platform.  It is an Apple problem and they are trying to resolve it right now.  We are hopeful to have a resolution shortly.'
It started after I rebuilt the desktop and ran it up to OS 10.4.11, and I’m inclined to do a clean rebuild and stop at 10.4.9. which is where all things ran very well. Not interested in Leopard.
But if anyone else has run into this issue and has some insight it would be appreciated.

I finally found a person who's going through the same thing as me.... Have you figured it out yet? I can't get anything to work. My whole system is a write off unless this starts to work. If I don't figure it out by tomorrow I'm getting a Kona card.

  • Reporting of the Mac Book Pro whining noise issue - how?

    Hi,
My MacBook Pro is emitting a noise when the processor is idle. It's got all the updates and the problem did not go away.
I was looking at the Apple Support site and could not seem to find a place to report this issue. Any idea where I should go?
    Thanks,
    Tom

You may want to call Apple customer care and explain your problem. It is recognized now by Apple and they are issuing logic board updates.
Some people report having more success by going to a brick and mortar Apple store and making an appointment at the Genius bar though.
    It is really your choice.

  • Noise issue when not playing

I did a AE cs 5.5 project in 8 bpc mode into premiere cs 6 when I'm not playing the video I see noise in the video (See photo 1) when play the video it looks good.
I also included a snapshot of my video card info which I'm using on a Z800 with 24 gig ram.

    Display card info

I've heard of issues using that codec.  Try another as a test.  (Or perhaps better yet, File>Dynamic Link>Import After Effects Composition...)

  • Macbookpro noise issue on right side with heat

Hi, my 2014 macbook pro ratina display,13 inch, just finished a years warranty period, and suddenly from right side of the laptop, a noise starts (like a modem connecting or something burning kind a noise) with upper right corner more heated then the rest of the laptop, Can someone help out with the issue ?

Aha. I think I was thinking of the 15 inch. Thanks for the heads up.
It is not that simple.  The late 2012 13" retina MBPs and the early 2013 13" retina MBPs have two fans installed. Starting with the late 2013 13" MBPs, only one fan was installed.
    Ciao.

  • Mac Pro Noise Issue !

Hello everyone ! I've been hearing a noise coming from my 1st gen original mac pro for the last couple of days.It all started after I put my rams in a different riser.
First I realized that my 5Gb total ram size seemed 2Gb in the "about this mac" section.I thought that it is beacouse of having all my rams(2x512 Mb stock and 2x2 Gb OWC) on the same riser,Riser A.
I rearranged them according to the mac pro specs.I put 2x512 Mb on dimm 1&2 / Riser A and 2x2 Gb on dimm 1&2 / Riser B.I also cleaned inside of the computer with a compressor. But I still hear that noise. How can I get rid of this noise ?
By the way,I recorded the sound of noise and I want to share it with you guys so that you can hear it.But I couldn't upload/insert it to my post ???

  • N97: Noise Issue

When the plastic back is rubbed on my device, it affects the audio quality of the transmitter. It sounds exactly like wind coming through a BT headset. If any part of the plastic parts are rubbed, brushed against and or touched while a call is connected, noise ends up in the mic and audio output. To check, make a call to any device. Rub or scratch the back of the device with your fingernail and listen for noise on the other end. I need to know whether this is isolated to just my device or if it's a design issue. Thanks, cmcken1

Has anyone tested this out yet? I would like someone to test it out on thier device. If you would, could you please post back the results. I would like to know whether before my return period ends. If there's a problem with my device I need to exchange it for another one ASAP.

  • X-Fi Elite Pro Noise issues

    Greetings,
I've had this x-Fi Elite Pro for 3 years now, and since about 6 months ago it started missbehaving like I'll describe. If the computer has been on for a long time the speaker output of the card starts making a crackling noise. Here's a phone recording of what this noise sounds like:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/002586/200227%2032502.m4a
If I change the audio mode with the creative console or change the master sampling rate there's a chance that the noise will go away, but it's a really temporary solution as it will be back within minutes. The only prolonged solution is restarting the computer and start the cycle anew.
I would like to know if anyone has heard about this issue and if there's any known solution such as changing the capacitors, if so, which ones.
To be honest, I'm quite disappointed with the experience I had with creative's soundcards lifespans. I went through two Audigy 2 cards that developed popping noises after two years of use (fortunately got those replaced with Dell's extended warranty). My replacement, if there's no fix to it, will certainly not be a creative card. It's a shame, really, as the Elite Pro is a really good card, while it works right; I'm just not willing to spend that much money on a sound card that's likely to fail within 3 years.

I am having issues with the balance of the input signal from my turntable to my Elite Pro. The turntable in connected to Aux 2 with the switch on the console in the phono position. The signal from my turntable (B&O RX2) is slightly off balance with the left channel signal slightly higher than the right channel. I have attempted to use the Master Auxiliary Balance control in audio creation mode to balance the signal during recording. Unfortunatly I have not been able to make it work as adjusting the balance control has no impact on the recorded signal. I have worked with Creative and to date they have not provided a working solution. I have moved my card from one slot to another, uninstalled and reinstalled the software on numerous occasions and taken every step suggested by Creative. I have an ASUS A8N SLI Premium motherborad. Creative thinks the board may be the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?
    - old cardridge/stylus being worned out,
    - weak connectors/connections,
    - too light stylus pressure (try 2-3 grams),
    - dirty/dusty stylus,
    - mispositioned stylus (not straight, wrong 'arm'length (if adjustable),
    - wrong connection imbedance,
You can also try if connecting turntable through amplifier (w/ RIAA) to X-Fi Line-In makes any difference --> shows out, if the RIAA pre in X-Fi is not working properly.

  • Intel iMac Noise Issues?

I am considering the new iMac Intel Core Duo. My brother has the original iMac G5 and has always complained about how loud it is with fan noise (and it is loud!). I was curious if the Intel iMac has removed this issue? I've seen them at the Apple Store here in San Francisco, but in the retail environment of that large space there is no way for me to know what it would sound like sitting in my home.
    Thanks for the feedback ...

From all reports it would seem that Apple has corrected whatever caused all the noise in the first gen and ALS model G5 iMacs.

  • Lumetri SLog3 Noise Issue -- please help!

I've been shooting a lot of Slog 3 footage with our Sony FS7. I edit the footage in the latest version of adobe premiere the following way:
I place the 4k footage on a timeline and tell it to match the clips settings (3840x2160 XAVC-I 24p is what I shot)
I add three way color corrector
I add ImpulZ Luts via lumetri effect
I tweak the 3 way color corrector if the image is under or over exposed
The issue I am running into is noise (small noise sometimes and bigger blocks other times).
Why is this happening? Is it a limitation of grading in premiere? Any way to get better results?
    Here's the test video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93Q5iSg_JWo
It makes me afraid to shoot in slog3 (even though I love the possibilities it gives you in post).

youtube re-compression so bad, im not sure what it looked like before. you can check this link out. Understanding Sony’s SLog3. It isn’t really noisy.   if its a problem i guess you could always use a denoiser like red giants.
