BlackMagic is greyed out of video devices

I have been using an ulta studio mini monitor for about a month, and today it quit working and is greyed out.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled PP/CC as well as the blackmagic 9.7.7 driver.  It is working fine with After Effects CC as well as Final Cut Pro 7.  I have already wasted enough time on this.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Can you check to see if Transmit was disable? Make sure it's checked in the Program Monitor wing menu. See image below

  • Artwork tab greyed out for video

I created a movie in iMovie, then clicked File > Share > iTunes to load the movie into iTunes.  Within iTunes, the movie appears as a H.264 M4V file.  So far, so good.
When I click Option - Get Info within iTunes to edit the tag data, the Artwork tab is greyed out.  I can edit all the other tag data, but I cannot add an image in the Artwork tab.  Any ideas how to un-grey the Artwork tab?
FYI that I can access the Artwork tab for other movies that I created in iMovie.  So it generally works ok, but for some reason it's not working for the movie that I created this week.
I am using OS X Yosemite with the most recent versions of iMovie and iTunes.

I ran the iMovie output file thru Handbrake to produce a new H.264 M4v file, then loaded it into iTunes.  I now can edit all the tag data, including artwork, on the new file.  Still don't know why the first file did not work, but at least I have a work-around ...

  • My iPod 3g said it had no songs, the wifi was greyed out, my videos wouldnt work, bluetooth wouldnt work, and apps crashed

So i'm travelling in Vietnam. Staying at this hotel, my ipod suddenly stopped being able to search for wifi, and constantly had the 'circle' indicating loading.. however my music and apps were still intact. However, i restarted my ipod, and when i turned it back on it said  had no songs and no videos when i loaded Music, and when i tried using apps they showed the initial default screen of the app and then crashed. i tried connecting it to itunes, but itunes said it could not read the ipod, so it suggested i restore it. i googled solutions but none of them worked, and my music for itunes is scattered in my laptop and my computer back home. not being able to find solutions, i restored my ipod, and so now all my music is gone. i have to say im extremely disappointed with Apple for not giving solutions that work. im sure countless other people have this problem ( from what i read on forums, they do) . anyone had this problem and actually fixed it without restoring? i'd like to know for the future. thank you.

Here is Apples' troubleshooting for grayed out wifi. Frequently however, it does not solve the problem and an appointment at the Genus Bar of a an Apple store is in order.

  • Why is Import Video greyed out for a new Flash project?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to load any MP4 (H.264 encoding), FLV, or F4V files into a brand new project. I've tried importing FLV and F4V files via the Import to Library and Import to Stage menu choices but all result in "One or more files were not imported because there were problems reading them" error message. I just downloaded Flash CC today (Feb 23, 2014) and cannot even get started on my project since I cannot seem to load a video into the library or stage. I've looked at the tutorials, but they assume that I can choose the greyed out Import Video... menu choice. Searching the discussion didn't help me as most of the discussions are off-topic or from 2 or more years back.
    Thanks,
    Xtraspatial

Thank you sinious. I had QT 7.5.5 installed. The problem was unrelated. Like a bufoon, I created a new HTML5 canvas, which is unable to import videos. When I switched to a AS3 canvas all was as it should be. And there was rejoicing throughout the land! Case closed.

  • Unplayable Greyed-Out Video On iPod Touch, Only Visible In iTunes

I've had a greyed-out "error" video on my iPod Touch 4G for a long time. It isn't visible on the iPod itself, but it shows up in iTunes. It has the same "Album", "Show" and "Year" tags as another album of videos I have (Album and Show "Baman Piderman", year 2012). Judging from it's reported length, it is an error version of a video from that album (specifically, "Weirdy Feeling"), although I have a version of said video on my iPod, and it works just fine. I've gone so far as to copy the Media Library database from my iPod to my computer and edit it manually, but I can't find the error entry anywhere. Interestingly, the reported size of this error file is "Stream". I can give a star rating to the file, but other than that, I can't edit any of it's tags.
I should mention that, by choosing "Manually manage music and videos" for my iPod, I can manually delete the file from iTunes. But every time I sync, it reappears, and I prefer to not manage the music and videos manually.
Here's an image of the error file with it's "Get Info" window open to the first tab:

After I updated to iOS 6.1, the problem disappeared. Not sure what it was, what was causing it or how to fix it. But, hey, it's gone now.

  • Why original music won't play (greyed out) ?

I know this is a well covered issue with Apple, iTunes, iPhones/Pads/Pods... I'm reading tons of questions and different solutions about this problem.
I had my share of this with purchased music as well as CD copied. My ecosystem is all Apple (Apple desktop, MacBook Pro, iPhones, iPads, Apple TV... My loyalty is (still) there as I have invested too much in iTunes purchases :-) ...
But I also need to use all this ecosystem as a work tool and 2 times out of 3 (can't figure out why it works sometimes...), when I create music and need as a producer to test some mixes in my car or earbuds through an iPhone, I'm stucked with a file that remains greyed out on some devices, even though it will play on the computer where it was created.  The song title appear on my iPhone, and on MacBook Pro but remain greyed out.  No cloud image on this line that I could simply click to bring it on the device.
No I have not unplugged anything.
Yes I use sharing and I subscribe to iMatch which should make everything available everywhere...
Even a forced sync (wired) won't fix it. And no I don't want to backup, reset, spend hours to this bug which appears to last forever from posts I am reading back to 2010 and probably earlier, which should have been fixed by Apple for long... As musician and producer, I am beside anything related to protecting IP, however, when I can't even access my own IP, there's something wrong... (So I am besides anyone who purchased music legally and faces the same issue !... )
So, just in case someone has an explanation or suggestion (update) to this frustrating issue, I am asking this question again...
    Thanks,
    Rob

A month and no one has a clue ?? ....
I'm not alone on this one, c'mon guys !

  • IOS5/Itunes 5 sync issues - music greyed out, not syncing across

    Hello,
I am having issues syncing music from iTunes to my iphone and ipad. I use autofill, but have had the same issue when using the sync all music option. All the files are listed in the music tab under the device, but half are greyed out and unplayable on the device (they are greyed out on the device too). There is a sync icon next to the files, but clicking on it does nothing.... I did a clean restore to ios5 and it copied my apps over, but none of my music, pictures etc. This is really annoying can anyone help?
    IOS5 GM
    Itunes 5

I have been fighting this problem with both my iPhone, my partner's, and my nephew's. It seems to have something to do with music purchased in iTunes vs. music that is ripped, since all my ripped music transfers fine and stays put.
On the other hand, downloaded content shows up doubled (one black, one grey) when I look at my music through the iTunes, just like that screen cap. As long as there's a "black copy" showing, it plays fine on my iPhone 4s, but I find I have to remove the greyed out copies manually and then manually transfer from my iTunes library or from the purchased option on the phone itself. In other words, if the music on the phone in only greyed out copies, and it's not on the phone, it doesn't transfer manually unless I first delete the greyed out versions. -- And then the greyed out versions magically reappear after it contacts the cloud and backs up.
I also sometimes end up with doubled copies, and my albums don't all sort the way they should -- so for example some Diane Schuur shows up under the artist name, and some shows up under albums. To put it all together I had to make a playlist, which is stupid.
Finally, there are some 46 items it tries to sync everytime I do any wi fi syncing of anything with my phone. I have no idea what that is.
I'm tempted to wipe and let all iTunes content be restored from the iCloud, a process that would require an overnight restore. I'm guessing that might solve the problem, but why should it all be this hard? Does Apple look at these comments, because I notice there are several different threads on this site concerning the music app and the iTunes/syncing issue?

  • Signature greyed out in desktop manager.

    hi
We use a BES server and are finding that when users use the desktop software the ability to change the signature is greyed out.Would it be due to either of these policy settings -
Desktop addins is set to false.
Application loader and weblink is set to false.
If its neither of these, any idea what would cause it to be greyed out ?
    Thanks
    Elaine

    Hi There!
Well, my first thought is why use the DM software at all under BES? All of the configuration items are available on the device directly and, I think, can also be set via BES policy. I am on BES and never use the desktop client at all -- unless I am contemplating an OS update and want to ensure I have a good backup beforehand. But, to manage my BES conduit, I never use the desktop software.
So, in answer to your question...are those same options greyed out in the device interface? If so, then perhaps it is indeed a policy issue...we'll have to let our BES experts chime in on that one...
    Just a thought...

  • I've had a problem with syncing itunes, when i sync it dosent sync songs previously deleted it just greys them out, which is great but if i want to add a new video or song from my computer it wont sync it will just grey out and wont play. now all my songs

ive had a problem syncing with itunes recently. when i delete a song on my iphone when i sync with my computer it still syncs but just greys out and is rendered useless. thats great unless i when i want to add new music or videos from my pc to my iphone it wont sync and will just grey out. i looked for solutions and one said that deleteing all your music from the usage in settings would fix it, well now when i sync all of my music is greyed out. ive tried adding all of my songs manually into my ipod instead of syncing entire library and nothing. (also when i select to sync music nothing shows up in the usage bar (normally 3 gigs)  might help) could someone please help?

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

  • Can I use the HDMI Out on my macbook pro retina for audio without connecting a video device?

While the MBP has TOSLINK output from the headphone jack, TOSLINK does not have the bandwidth to carry the high resolution audio from many blu-rays and DVD-Audio disks. I would like to hook my MBP to an audio-only HDMI sink so I can pipe the multichannel output to my surround speaker setup.
My concern is that the MBP will get "confused" and do one of the following things - both of which are "bad":
    1) It will decide that a video device is there, and put the desktop on the nonexistent HDMI display OR
    2) It will decide to send no signal at all (no video, no audio) because it sees no video device.
    Any thoughts on this?
In short - thinking of using something like this: http://www.ambery.com/2hddodtsdihd.html
with the HDMI out of the MBP and then piping its 6 discrete analog outputs to my old (but excellent for computer speakers) Logitech Z680 setup.
But I want any movie video to remain unperterbed on my Thunderbolt display. And if I am not watching a movie and am just listening to multichannel FLACs or something, then I'd like to run the media player normally and have the usual desktop on my MBP or Thunderbolt display.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks to all!!

QUESTION 1: Is there anyway that I can buy a new logic board with upgraded graphics card and it will work?
Not from Apple, you can go to the grey market if you choose but it is most likely that the only MB that will work is the one you already have.

I have also read a little bit into using the Thunderbolt port as a means to run an additional graphics card through, the hardware for it being built by a company named Sonnet.
QUESTION 2: Is this an option that will actually work with my Macbook Pro setup and give me better graphics card capabilities?
Maybe, if the Sonnet is properly Thunderbolt compatible it should.

  • Video content missing on ipad... play buttons greyed out

There was a similar thread but answer did not apply.  I have videos that are fromatted to play on ipad and play in itunes well.  When sync to ipad you can see the ipad increase in file size from the added video.  When you open the video app to view the videos all is seen is greyed out video image with title underneath.   click on that image,  and the play button is greyed out.   Even though the running time appears,  the file size is 0.  I know the content is on the ipad because it shows the space being used by those files.  Where are they?   i look in the music app, no luck.
I did plug in the ipad to computer  and view the files that way (in left hand side of itunes where you view files on devices )  and those particular video files are greyed out there as well.   Please help.  So frustrating trying to find an answer.
I have tried deleting the files from ipad and resyncing did not work.  Thanks

    Update:
After further inspection: it seams the  video contnet is not being transferred but only the video file image and title.  Discovered this after unplugging and repluggin and saw the file size in ipad decrease because there were no video files.  Thanks  for you help
    Still need a solution.  Thanks

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all media and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • 2012 R2 RemoteFX 3D Video Adapter Greyed Out

I am running a home Server with 2012 R2 with the Hyper-V role installed, with about 5 Windows 8.1 VM's.  I'm trying to get RemoteFX working, here's my hardware config:
    E5-4610 Processor (Supports Slat)
Nvidia GTX 770 (Driver supports WDDM 1.3 with direct X 11)
Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 (All bios virtual settings enabled)
When I install the Video card driver (tried different versions using windows 8 and windows 8.1 drivers) initially it shows me the checkbox to "Use this GPU with RemoteFX" However after a reboot it says no supported video cards are available.
Before the reboot after installing the driver when it shows the GPU is capable of remote FX, I am not able to add a RemoteFX 3d adapter to a virtual machine because it is greyed out.
After I reboot, if i uninstall and re-install the driver the GTX 770 is available to use again but I still cannot add the RemoteFX adapter to a virtual machine's hardware.
    I have done the following:
Verified in DXdiags that the direct X version is 11
Verified in DXdiags that the driver model is WDDM 1.3
Verified the E5-4610 Proc supports Slat or Extended Page Tables
Enabled all the Virtualiztion VT-x settings in the Bios
Verified the video card is supported and certified in 2012 R2
Verified the Remote Desktop Virtualization Host Agent is started in Services.msc
Tried the newest and oldest video drivers for 8.1, and newest for windows 8
I am using Generation 1 vm's as i heard Generation 2 is having problems with RemoteFX
Tried Generatino 2 VM's, there is no option to add RemoteFX hardware
Tried a different GTX 550Ti video card, same issue
Performed all Windows updates for server 2012 R2
Please advise on the next steps to be taken to get RemoteFX working, or if any of the hardware I mentioned above does not support RemoteFX in 2012 R2.
    Thanks.

    Hi buzzmuff,
Please check the following entries :
1.ensure if the VM is Win8.1 enterprise
2.Please  use RDP 8.0/8.1 to connect the VM then check device manager again

  • 'Best for video' greyed out in displays prefs

I finally got my macbook(blackbook running 10.5.8) hooked up to my lcd tv (i have been using my old eMac for this a while) & I'm fooling around with the settings to optimize performance & for some reason the 'Best for video' is greyed out in System prefs/Displays but the overscan function works(both in extended desktop mode & in video mirroring mode. I have always used this function on my eMac (OS X 10.3.9) without any problems. For now I'm using the apple mini dvi to video with an Svideo cable until i can afford to go either the hdmi or vga route, but I'd like to optimize this at least..anybody have a clue why 'Best for video' would be greyed out & how to fix this? could this be because of the Intel GMA 950 Gpu chipset in this generation of macbooks? I have posted to a few forums in the last few days with no answers so far...Anybody?

I wouldn't worry too much about that setting. I believe all it ever did was set up a difference between blanking and black level, sometimes called "pedestal" in TV/video terminology. It's no big deal. You are probably correct that the GMA950 doesn't support it, so it's grayed out.

  • Help, I can't sync any music to my iPhone 5s or iPad 2 ! :( it says it's finished sync but the music is greyed out and not on my devices.. I've tried unchecking the music and doing it manually. Nothing works. I took it to Apple store Robina no help..

Help, I can't sync any music to my iPhone 5s or iPad 2 ! it says it's finished sync but the music is greyed out and not on my devices.. I've tried unchecking the music and doing it manually. Nothing works. I took it to Apple store Robina no help..

So I have found a common denominator to this phenomenon. After having the same problem, I started to recopy my playlist of 500+ songs in groups of 10-20, 30+, 75+, and then over a 100+. Any music I have purchased from iTunes won't copy, but everything else did. Unsure if I made a playlist called "Purchased" at some point or this is an iTunes default, I also noticed it had some of the songs contained in my other playlist and was showing on my iPhone. Regardless of what I did such as dragging music from that playlist to the other and clearing songs from that playlist, I removed it altogether from the iPhone itself vs. doing through iTunes. After that, music copied fine to my playlist.
So, my theory is that iTunes is getting tripped up on purchased tracks already showing on the phone and all songs are showing grayed out/dotted circle because iTunes can't resolve the conflict with purchased tracks.
Hope this makes sense and is helpful.
