BLANK DESIGN VIEW!!!

Hi,
My project seems to work fine, but, now some of my pages have a blank design view.
My page1 is fine and I can view the JSP and java source for all the other pages but not
the design.
Whats goin on?

Hi Peter,
No TROUBLES :-)
Well, my problem is fixed.I think I had that blank design view bcos, I had components in my
project that were bound to my own databases which had become corrupt. Also, I learned that if you created some projects with the creator installation in directory 'X'. If you reinstall creator under something other than directory X, the projects will not compile.
Thanks,

  • Design view goes blank [CS3]

I usually work with split code + design view
When working with certain files and make a change in code
view(or in a linked .css), and then click in Design view, the
Design view goes totally or partially blank. Either nothing appears
at all, or the content appears up to some point, and the rest up to
    the end is blank.
Once this happens, there is absolutely no way to make the
'hidden' content visible. Tried to switch to another file, to
select code in code view, to edit in code view or even in design
view - no go. I have to close / open the file, and then it appears
normally. But indeed I can't do this every minite, is there some
    solution known?
There is no stuff with visibility set to hidden or alike, if
the content is displayed - it's displayed correctly. Also looks OK
    in all major browsers.
    Thanks

This often happens when you have added such garbage code that
    DW cannot
figure out what to do with it. For example, adding a
    <body> or </body> tag
in the middle of a page can do such things. Might that be
    what's happening
    for you?

  • Design View Blank in CS4

For whatever reason Design View is coming up completely blank
in DreamWeaver CS4 except for 3 icons for the document encoding,
title, and CSS file. Live View works fine, but Design View fails to
    show anything.
Does anyone know what setting controls this?
    thanks,
    Sean

Thanks. It was design view, Live Code was greyed out as there
is no non-XHTML code in the file.. The problem was one of those
accidental clicks where I accidentally expanded the window area
with the icons at the top to use the whole vertical screen area(I
knew it was something silly). So the viewable Design View area
below the icons at the top was only a few pixels high (almost
    invisible).

    Dear all,
I can run JSC2.1 in Fedora 5 chinese language, but jsp design view is blank, I can not drop any componnent in it and cannot see anything., and if I change JSC2.1 to "-locale en", JSC2.1 is all Okay, please help me

If you get the designer blank, there is some bug. Could you have a look into your log file? It is <your_userdir>/var/log/messages.log? There should be some exceptions causing that state. Send them here or file bug directly.
In any case, try to workaround the problem by deleting <your_userdir> and restarting JSC.

    What could go wrong?
After I restarted workshop, it works fine.

  • CS3 Design View blank when body in Editable  area

Anyone run into this? It appears to be a bug, possibly new in
    DW CS3 (9.0 build 3481)
When a <body> tag is put in an editable region, DW does
not recognize subsequent editable regions and Design View is blank.
When saving this template, an error appears "This template does not
have any editable regions..." However, Code Validation and Template
Syntax Check return no errors. Moving the body tag out of the
editable region corrects the problem. Here is a sample template:

  • CS5 design view blank

I've been searching for the answer, nothing is helping.
Yesterday I tried to open a website made for my class (linked to a template I believe) and design view suddenly showed up blank, also in split view. Code grayed out. Preview in browser and live view showing. I need design view to edit things like editable region and - for an entirely different project - tables. I'm an amateur and I don't know what I did. Clicked on something bad by complete mistake?
Any advice would be much appreciated, it's urgent. :/

I have a similar issue. Whenever I look at a page with php in it, the design view is completely absent. Additionally, the "Design View" and ""Live Code" buttons aregreyed out.

  • Livecycle Designer  - Design View and Hierarchy  Blank - Assistance Sought

12 months ago I succesfully installed Livecycle designer 8.0. Recently tried again on a new laptop with GUI 720 and decided to try Livecycle 8.2. It installs OK.
I am using Livecycle from an ABAP SAP system.
The problems come when I fire up the layout of an existing form from transaction SFP. Livecycle Designer starts OK. However the Design View is blank and the Hierarchy only contains a blank subform. The DataView however does list all the data fields on the form.
I have tried installing Livecycle Designer 8.0 and 8.1 as well but always get this same result.
Interestingly if I take a copy of an active form saved as a pdf (as it being displayed as part of an application in the portal) and open it using Livecycle Designer outside of the GUI (by executing command formdesigner.exe located in the windows "program files" installation directory) then I get all the details of the form showing correctly.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thank you very much Otto.
This a very useful tip but sadly does not apply in this case where both the logon language and language of the forms are English. The locale setting on the form display is also English.I have tried English Euro and English US as just in case this does make any difference, but without success.
When I attempt to create or change a form I get a run time error MESSAGE_TYPE_X with message class CNDP and message number 006. This suggests incorrect GUI, Kernel or GUI patch. I do not know of any required GUI 720 patches and can find nothing relevant on OSS.
If no-one responding on SDN can assist in a week or so I will raise a call with SAP. I will post the results (even if they are embarrassing for me).

Also, as long as it does not crash nothing goes wrong. But once it does, not only the design view goes blank but I cant even execute the project, I will hit 505 error in the browser.

  • Design View is Blank in CS5.5

Hello, I have had problems with design view since upgrading from CS3 to CS5.5. In fact, it has never worked for me. Design View is completly white.
    I'm on a Mac, running OS X 10.7.3.
This isn't an issue with bad code, it's all the time. I can start a new document, type one word inside the body in code view and switch to design view and nothing is there. If I click in the white space on design view, I can type there and it will show when I go back to code view, but it won't show anything in design view while I'm typing.
This is not an issue with the "Head Content" covering everything up. I can toggle that on and off. I can also turn the rulers on and off and they show. But nothing on the page I'm working on will show.
    Also, "Live View" works fine.
    Any ideas? I'm totally stumped.
    Thanks!

  • After applying a template to a page design view is blank - I can only edit in code view.

When I apply a template to a page everything is fine. I can see the page elements in design view and code view. I can edit the page and upload it and all is fine. However, when I save the page with a new name or close the page and then reopen the design view is empty, the code view is normal. I would like to be able to see the page in the design view and cannot. I don't know what to do. I hope someone has an idea for me. Thank you.
I am using DW CS5 and pages are ASP.

When you say "template" are you talking about the .dwt Template file from DW?
If so, you may be using it incorrectly. Once you create the .dwt, all of your new pages need to be created via File > New > Create Page From Template and then saved to your site. If you are using the .dwt file and doing "Save As" to create more pages, you're going to run into all sorts of problems.
Do you have a link we could look at?

  • Design View Appearing Blank

    Hello All:
I apologize that my first post is a question. I have searched
and cannot seem to find an answer to this. I am a new Dreamweaver
user but have been handcoding for ~7 years. I am self taught with
Dreamweaver so I may very well have done something wrong.
I created a template and everything worked fine in design
view and otherwise until I transfered said template to another
computer. On that other computer (and now on this one), my template
simple shows the background color (grey) instead of the rest of the
page. Oddly, when I put text in design view, it places it in the
first editable region on the template, which is around the body
tag. In Design view, it also shows up completely as an editable
region even though there is a <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
there to end the editable region.
When I open any of the pages in Firefox/IE5-6/Opera on
various operating systems I have absolutely no problem viewing and
navigating the site, and there are no javascript errors.
Am I doing something wrong? I can provide a screen shot of
both the working page and the non-working design view. My HTML is
not validatable but that is not of concern at the moment.
Thank you in advance for your help,
    Eric

You cannot place the body tag into an editable region using
    DW's UI. You
can do it manually, of course, with the consequences you
    describe.
If you want to edit the attributes of the body tag, there are
    several ways -
what is it you are wanting to do?

I figured out the problem. The Java code had gotten out of sync with the jsp code, so the design view didn't know how to render the components. It's a pain to fix, but it can be done. Go through your jsp code component by component, and make sure there are declarations, getters, and setters for each id in the components. Also make sure the java code doesn't contain declarations, getters, and setters for any components that you didn't create (you can see these in the jsp view at the bottom of the file).
