Blank driver disk

Hi!
I know this problem has been already writen somewhere, and I've seen it, but haven't found exact solution for me, so..
I have a new intel iMac. I have a Leopard disk, which i bought separetle, so I have only 1 dvd.
some time ago installed boot camp and Vista. everything worked well.
today i deleted vista partition via boot camp and created a new one to install xp.
installation was ok, restarted in windows, inserted a mac os disk and it's blank!!
=(
I haven't yet installed a single thing in windoews or went to the internet, so it's completly new XP.
please help!

It would most definitely help if you could tag your posts with your current Mac model and OS version.
If you have a late '07 model, the Boot Camp driver disc is part of either the install media or the "drop-in" Leopard disc that came with the unit. If you have any of the snow-white models, you had to have purchased Leopard to have the DVD. Either way, the DVD is multi-session, meaning it is divided into at least two logical pieces. In this case, it's exactly two pieces. The larger piece is Mac OS X, and it's only visible from the Mac side. The Boot Camp drivers make up a smaller piece that's only visible from Windows. The drive should mount the correct session on the disc once the disc inserted. If it doesn't, you can:
a) Apply a firmware update, if applicable: Some 2006 and earlier 2007 MacBooks (including Pros) and iMacs were shipping with SuperDrives that exhibited performance and reliability issues. Apple published an updater for affected models which required OS 10.4 to run. This "SuperDrive Firmware Update 2.1" was at one point available from Apple Support Downloads, and would only install if the machine needed the update. The updater has since been yanked, without any warning or explanation.
b) Check the disc for problems: Any scratches, scuffs, or marks on a disc will generate problems for either platform. A little water on a strong and smooth, yet slightly damp cloth (read: not a paper towel or a typical terry-cloth towel) will take care of almost any schmutz. Wipe the disc gently along the radius, from center to edge.
c) Re-burn the disc, if possible: It's possible that your particular disc came from a bad run. You'll need a dual-layer drive and mastering software (Windows or Mac-based) to make a complete copy, as the disc is packed with about 9 GB of data. The software also needs to be aware of hybrid formatting to copy both sessions.
d) Get it fixed: If all else fails, the disc or drive is bad and needs replacement. Get to an Apple Store or AASP (that's Apple Authorized Service Provider) ASAP. Call Apple as well if you are under the standard warranty or an AppleCare plan.

It would be much better if you had separate drives for the pictures and Time Machine backups.....but, if you want to use the same drive for both purposes, temporarily move the folder with the pictures to another location for safe storage.
Run the Time Machine backup on the hard drive and verify that everything is working correctly. Time Machine will format the disk for you in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as part of the backup process.
Then move the folder with the pictures back to the hard drive with the Time Machine backups.
When you have tested to make sure that everything is working again, then and only then should you delete the folder with pictures from the temporary storage area.
Again....it would be much better to keep Time Machine backups on a drive just for that purpose, and other data on another drive for that purpose. This is clearly one of those times when the fact that you can do something does not mean to imply that you should do it.

• HT1583 What blank DVD disks are compatible with burning a film from Idvd on an applemac?

I have just finalized a project in imovie and this message came up on the screen - "Your project exceeds the maximum duration. To burn your DVD, change the encoder setting in the project info window".
I have changed the encoder setting from best fit to Professional but I am having burning the film to a dvd. The computer tells me to load a dvd or my driver is busy - which it isn't it only has a blank dvd disk in it. So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
HELP!

Hi
So I was wondering whether my DVD disks are compatible with the applemac computer!
And if You tell - what brand and type You are trying to use - I will be so much easier !
But most often the problem is
• Do NOT - insert the DVD disk before iDVD specifically as You to do this. As Desktop will catch it and try to format it as a Data-DVD - Not what You want (a Video-DVD) as Data-DVD can not be played on standard DVD-players.
To get it even better I do
• Use Verbatim - Never Memorex or NoName etc cheap brands (as they don't work OK for Me)
• DVD-R - as they play on even older DVD-players
• Burn Speed - set down to x2 or x4 MAX ! - Best IS NOT BEST at all here !

• Is it possible to put a 1TB hard drive disk in my mid 2009 13 inch macbook pro?

I want to upgrade my hard drive disk (macbook pro 13 inch mid 2009) from 160 GB to possibly a 1TB. If I bought a 1TB hard drive disk would it work in my computer and would apple install it for me? If not is there anywhere in manhattan thats an afiliate of apple that would do it? I checked out Ifixit.com and was looking at how to do it on my own but honestly I'd probably screw it up. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

they would not install a hard drive you purchased somewhere else, however I'm sure a computer repair shop in manhattan that would be willing to.  If you are looking for an Apple affiliate, or an AASP, here: https://locate.apple.com/service/?pt=4&lat=40.7902778&lon=-73.95972219999999.  Call them and ask if they would do it for you.

• Installing Mountain Lion on BLANK hard disk that says I need more space

I'm trying to reinstall Mountain Lion to a blank hard disk. It stops during install and says I need 4.2G more space and suggests I free some up. It's a blank hard disk, all I have access to is Disk Utility. How do I free up space?

Did you format the blank disk and add a partition?
Can you provide a screen shot of Disk Utility?

• There is a question mark on my hard drive disk, how do I get rid of it.

There is a question mark on my hard drive disk, how do I get rid of it. I recently went to the genius bar in Albuquerque, NM and they restarted it and did a partition on it and what I needed was fixed but I still have a  question mark on my start up disk.

There is no startup system on it. Or, you need to open Startup Disk preferences and select a startup disk. Or your startup disk lacks a name such as "Macintosh HD," for example.

• 10.8.4 Logic Pro Hard Drive (Disk I/O) issue

Hey,
since yesterday my Logic Pro (9.1.8) has a big problem. After I installed the Update 10.8.4 the Hard Drive (Disk I/O) Display overloads everytime, when i start to play my vocals/tracks. Even older projects (i never had problems) with just 20 tracks and without third party plugins the HD Display goes up and with the latest project (49 Tracks) i cannot even create a new track anymore. It says "not enough memory" and then it crashes.
I bought my Imac some months ago. Just some informations about my Imac.
- Late 2012, 21,5"
- 16 GB Ram
- 2.7 GHz Intel Core I5
- Hard Disk 5400 revolutions per minute, Sata (still 900 GB free)
Basically I bought my Imac to create music and to use logic pro - its very frustrating .. i cannot work anymore.
I tried everything - change the settings, change the buffer size, not to use my interface, 32bit to 64bit, to delete Autotune (my only third party plugin) from the AU-Manager. I even had a call with the Apple Support (2 hours long) and they couldnt find a solution ..
If they cannot find a solution, i think its even harder to find someone here, who can help me. So my question is just, is there someone else who has a similiar problem with the update??  .. I'd say a problem shared is a problem halved :-)
thank you & nice greetings from Austria :-)

Hello Stefan,
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

• Original driver disk for lenovo hardware

calling the support today, i could not believe the lonovo does not have an original driver disk for their hardware they are selling, and i dont mean the recovery cd that has an os on it. every other hardware manufacturer that I know of provides original driver disks; lenovo seems not to care.
for the stuff that I am doing, mostly clinical trials data analysis, i need a machine with highest level of integrity. all hell breaks loose when it later will be discovered that there was a glitch in the software/hardware. the first thing is the bios. what i need is an original cd, and original here means a pressed cd; not a burned cd, not one download over the internet, and no other amateurish solutions. i dont need the os that comes with the recovery cd, since i will be using linux (sled) anyway.
is anyone aware of where one could get such a thing, if at all?
thanks

Hi toby, welcome to the forum,
AFAIK the last T-series ThinkPads to have any cds delivered with them were the T22s, must be about what, six years ago? Since then ThinkPads have always had a recovery partition on the hard drive. It is possible to order recovery cds from Lenovo, or create them yourself, these will install your ThinkPad to factory state.
You can also find all drivers and utilities required for the ThinkPad in one folder, C:\SWTOOLS. Alot of people, (myself included), burn this folder to cds or a dvd. It does not however contain a copy of bios.
I'm afraid I don't believe such a cd exists, unless you create it yourself. (And of course all the latest drivers are available to download).
regards

• Nvidia RAID Driver Disk

Nvidia RAID Driver Disk
The problem is with trying to Install Windows XP [Upgrade]. (Clean Install)
K7N2 Delta2-LSR
I tried using the nForce3 SATA RAID Driver For Win2k/XP after pressing F6,
during XP Install.
They don't work, and after trying a couple of times - got an error reading.
This Motherboard has an nForce2 Chipset, so I read the Manual.
It showed how to make an Floppy SATA RAID Driver Disk.
I tried to copy the SATA RAID Drivers from the MSI Driver's CD - but
got Disk Full.
Then I downloaded an Program to Format Floppy at 1.72MB, and copied
all the necessary files to Floppy.
Tried using it after pressing F6, but got Error - Unrecoginized Format.
(The Floppy did read OK, MS-WIN ME)
BTW I thought this Motherboard used nForce2 SATA RAID, why they include
nForce3 SATA RAID Driver Floppy - I wonder.
Any way to get SATA RAID Driver's that will fit on FDD 1.44MB ?
TheCyberDude

UPDATE
I looked at the nForce3 SATA RAID Driver, and the Folder raidtool was not on it.
They Manual said to copy all files (Including Folders) to Floppy.
(This wasn't posible, because of size limitation - 1.44 MB)
So I made an SATA RAID Driver from the MSI CD, except I didn't copy the
Folder raidtool.
I tried to install Windows XP Again, it Took the SATA RAID Drivers OK -
but after it said Setup loading files and the STALLS at Setup is Starting
Windows.
Tried it again, except this time I got this error:
(File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (1024) at line 1747 in
d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.)
If I don't Press F6, it shows the partitions:
39080 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]
C: Partition1 [FAT32] 78160 MB (77280 MB free)
39080 MB Disk 0 at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]
Unpartitioned space 39080MB
I was able to Format with NTFS (Successfully), but it wasn't recongized.
(Figured that it wouldn't - Because I was able to get SATA RAID Driver's loaded Successfully)
Just wanted to see what it would do.

• P35 Neo Mainboard Driver Disk Problem

Hi All,
I’m in the process of building my first PC and have a problem with the Windows XP Driver Disk that is supplied with the P35 Neo mainboard I am using. I have just installed windows xp without any problems. I am now trying to install the mainboard drivers. There seems to be a problem with the driver cd. My computer is unable to read the cd. I have also tried the cd in a friend’s pc without any success.
I would really appreciate it if someone were able to point me in the right direction for all of the drivers I will need to install. If you could list all of the drivers that I will need it would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
you don't need the CD to get a hold of all relevant drivers.  You can download them here:
