Blank File Info window

I'm using Windows XP and InDesign CS 6. Whenever I go to File>File Info... or if I press AltShiftCtrl+I, I get a useless blank File Info window staring at me. It shows up as a gray page and there are no buttons to click on. I have to hit Escape to get out of it. Please any help would be appreciated on how to solve this issue, which I've been having since InDesign CS5.

  • File info window is blank

    Hello
I'm on a iMac running 10.7.5 and all 3 of my Adobe products (Illustrator CS5.1, Photoshop CS5.1 and Flash CS5.5) have the same issue, the file info window is blank. It dosen't freeze up my machine but I have to force quit the program. I trashed the prefs file for photoshop and still no luck. The extension are whatever came with the install. It's the only menu item this happens with.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,
You may try to Move the folder.

  • In 10.8, the file info window's "Kind:" read "Application"/etc. for 64-bit items and "Application (32-bit)"/etc. for 32-bit items. The "(32-bit)" part seems to have been lost in Mavericks. How do I determine if an item is 32 or 64-bit in Mavericks?

    1. Launch System Information into its 'report' mode. (A quick way to do this is by holding down the option key while clicking on the Apple menu item, which causes "About this Mac" to change to that.)
    2. From the list on the left, under "Software" click on "Applications." (If you don't see the Applications item, click on "Show more information" from the "File" menu.)
    3. Wait a minute or so for the report to finish.
    4. The last column in the report is "64-bit (Intel)." (You may need to scroll the window to the right to see it.) Click on that heading to sort the list alphabetically. Anything with a "no" is 32 bit.

  • File info window freezes

My new computer has Yosemite 10.10.3 and I'm happy to say Elements 6 works with it.  But when I wanted information about a picture something happened that does not seem right.
I opened the picture and went to File / File Info.  A window opened that asked for information about the picture.  The problem is that as soon as I clicked anywhere int he File Info window it froze.  Nothing happened.  Everything else seemed to continue working but when I clicked on the picture behind the file Info window, it did not come to the front.  I had to close photoshop to get rid of the file info window.  Is this problem common or perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Also, sometimes I need to know the date a picture was taken.  I thought there was a way to find that from file information on the computer but I don't remember how.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello A
Have you tried creating a new account and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.)
Open System Preferences > Accounts > "+" make it an admin account.
If this works, then log back into your problem account and navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
    Let us know.

  • Close File Info Window

I clicked File.File Info and a window opened that I can only maximize.  Can't close that window and get back to project. Does anyone know how to close the File Info window?

It doesn't have this cancel button?

  • -opening position of CS1 "File Info" window-

I have actions in CS1 to open :
"Levels" window so I can individually adjust & save
"File info" window so I can individually add text & save
The former window I can move & all following windows will open in new position.
The latter I can move but next image always opens centrally again.
Any way to make "File info" window open off to one side?
    Thanks in advance.  regards jg

Probably not. Actions do not store any UI data, this is handled automatically by the program and it will eitehr use the last active position of a palette or the default one. What you see is probably meant to be this way (the info window being in the context of each specific image and thus using default position, the levels palette being a global panel and using the last active). You could at best try your graphics driver's dialog repositioning options ands see if the info window responds to it...

  • Show File Info window disappearing

I am trying to access a Pages document in a file sharing arrangement, but Pages won't allow me to access it.  I checked permissions on the Pages document and need to add permissions, but the Show File Info window closes before I can do anything to change permissions.

Eversave.app was the problem.  It apparently was causing the issue - closed the app, problem disappeared.

    J,
Not to dodge the issue, but you are having an OS problem, not a Pages problem. If nobody comes along here with an explanation, you might do well to post in the Snow Leopard discussion area, assuming your profile is correct.

  • Blank File Info panel after osx archive and install (CS5)

    Hi,
After osx archive and install I get a blank File Info panel (into AI, PS, ID and other CS5 applications), how could be solved this??
    Best regards, Robert

    Hi,
solved by full remove/install CS5.. but how could be restored correct access rights?
    Also replied me Vikas.Sharma:
Create a new text file named XMP.cfg (make sure the extension is cfg and not txt).
The only text that needs to be in that file is as below:
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/
Restart the Adobe application and check the File Info panel again.
You need to copy that file to /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashPlayerTrust (create the directory if not already there)
but, why osx archive and install isnt working fine with flash?
The only troubles (solved) are quicklook flv contents and XMP file info panes into all CS5 applications, could be solved next time by a short and fast procedure?
    Best regards, Robert

  • Blank file info dialog box

    Hi
I have photoshop 11.0.1 installed on windows 7 (Before I used to use Windows XP PRO SP3) and I noticed that  clicking File--->File Info just shows me a blank dialog box instead  of the actual dialog box in which I can input various file properties.  How can I fix that?
P.S. Same happens inside the Bridge and I never experienced this issue when I was on XP. Everything is fine on windows 7 except that blank dialog box in both photoshop and the bridge which is weird.

I'm an already an admin because I'm the only user of my machine. I checked the folder "XMP" in the path C:\Users\My User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe and I found it to be containing only one folder called "Metadata Templates" which is empty.
I checked my old XP installation (which I still have an image backup file for it) and I navigated to:
c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Adobe\XMP and I found it also to be indentical to my Windows 7 i.e. It still contains only the folder "Metadata Templates" and nothing under it so what might be wrong?
Is there a doucumentation on how to transfer settings correctly of photoshop under XP to the correct locations under windows 7?

  • "File info" window displays nothing for photographs

I am unable to access photograph metadata  in InDesign CS5.5. when I go to the "Info" window (F8),  click on the drop-down menu, and click on "File  Info,", I get a pop-up window with nothing in it.  In the banner on top it does say  "File Information for…" and then lists the file name.
This problem came to light when I was trying to set up live captions for photographs and couldn't get  the metadata to populate correctly.  Any ideas?

    Here's a screen shot.  Thanks.

  • Blank File Info in Bridge 4.05

    Hello
I cannot see the info when I right click on a file to get the 'File Info'.
A white page opens but it is blank.
    Any Ideas?

    Good day!
Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

  • How can i fix blank "File Info...." in Photoshop CS5?

I wanted to add metadata to some of my photos. However, when I attempted to open "File Info" there was nothing in the dialogue box. It was just empty. Is there a method for fixing this apart from reinstalling Photoshop?

This might also have something to do with your graphics card.
I don't have cS5 loaded, but it might be close to what CS6 has  There are some differences in the acutal panels between the two, but that might be in relation to the swf files.  The main file structure looks something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\XMP\Custom File Info Panels\3.0 with these folders under 3.0: AMT, bin, custom, panels.  There are no files under this folder.
Under the "panels" folder there are all the folders of the tabs: Advanced, audioData, camera, categories, description, dicom, gpsData, history, IPTC, IPTCExt, mobile, origin, rawpacket, and videoData.
Under each of these are folders: bin and location.  And the one file manifest.xml.

Greetings. In Photoshop CS4, my File>Info window is now blank (empty) and modal, i.e., I must close Photoshop via Task Manager (Windows 7).

I appreciate it, Luanne! I'm hoping a full reinstall of CS4 won't be necessary!
