Blank Popups

I just started getting blank popups for some, but not all
popups in a WebHelp project.
For some pop-ups - no problem, they show fine in generated
Webhelp. For others, they show only the header & footer in a
topic, but no content in between. I've looked at the true code to
try to find differences, but I don't see any.
I saw a previous post that related this to XP SP2, and the
need for a "soft" patch instead.
Is SP2 the known problem? I've had SP2 for quite awhile. Have
not used popups in RH for quite some time, so I don't know if this
is a "new" issue that has just cropped up due to something else, or
that I haven't encountered the problem because I haven't been using
the popups.
Any ideas?
TIA.

I am having the same problem. I recently had to change from
WinHelp to HTML Help and now some of my popups are working and some
are not. I've checked the margins as indicated above, but that was
not the problem. I've tried re-saving the image as a .SHED image
and recreating the hotspots and it still will not work. Other
topics with other hotspot popups are working.
Any ideas?

  • RoboHelp 9 - blank popups

    Hi,
I am using RoboHelp 9 and have created several help files.
For some odd reason I have enountered blank popups.
Previously all the pop-ups were fine i.e. they could be
viewed on all the PC's in our office. Up until today, on 3 other
machines the pop-ups in the CHM file's are blank, but on my PC it
is fine. All PC's are using windows XP with SP2 (including my PC).
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
    thanks
    S

    Hi Colum,
    Thanks for the welcome.
The CHM file hasn't been changed. As far as I know nothing
has changed on these PC's. Out of the 6 machines I tested on, the
popups worked on 3, but did not work on the other 3.
As for the window updates, we all have this option turned on
    to update & install automatically.
We are all scratching our heads here. Any help would be much
    appreciated.

  • RoboHelp V 5 Updates and Blank Popups

Can you tell me what the RoboHelp 5.0.1 and 5.02 updates
provide? I thought I read something about one incorporating the XP
SP 2 patch so I didn't update RoboHelp.
A few months ago, I was having trouble with blank popups in
my help system files. Our IT group told me not to load the XP SP2
patch. Instead, they got a "soft" patch from Microsoft and after
loading it on my pc, the problem seemed to go away. However, the
blank popups and script errors are now occurring on some of our
test computers. Can you tell me what might be the problem? Can it
be the version of IE? I am using XP and RoboHelp 5X.
Also, does anyone know if I update RoboHelp to 5.0.2, will
the XP SP2 patch be loaded on my computer?
Also, I have only been giving the software engineers the .chm
file and I have a glossary in my help system. Do I need to have
them install and register the HHActiveX.DLL file on the end user's
computers? Sorry, I know these are basic questions, but I've read
some things and I'm still not sure!
Any help anyone can provide will be appreciated!!
I will appreciate anything you can do to help!

    Peter,
I tried to upgrade from RoboHelp but could not. I went to the
website you provided and downloaded the update for 5.0.2. I checked
my version and it is X5.0.1 build 606. My RoboHelp sOffice oftware
is installed in the Program Files folder.
I ran the RH013_X502.exe file but could not get the install
to complete. I got the following messages:
Setup could not find a file on the specified path or disk.
Please check that the proper disk is inserted or specify a
    new path.
    Unable to locate file
    C:\DOCUME~1\baileycd\LOCALS~1\Temp\_is1AB\RoboHelp Office X5.0.2

RoboHelp Office X5.0.2 Update. The Windows Installer cannot
    continue.
Error: - 1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more
    information.
The upgrade gave me no opportunity to choose the path. Do I
have to have the .exe file in a specific folder? Does RoboHelp have
to be installed somewhere else? Do you know what I need to do to
install this upgrade? We are having problems with our help file and
I think recompiling after I update RoboHelp may fix the problem.
    Once again...thanks for your help!!

  • How do I stop about:blank popups?

Firefox has recently begun opening "New Tab" with a URL called about:blank. Since I've set up popup pages to open in tabs, the about:blank pages pop up in tabs. This happens every time I open FF; if I leave the browser open for several hours it will have several about:blank tabs opened. I've read that "about blank" popups have been associated with a virus or malware and that these tend to redirect users to other pages. However, I have run virus scans and spyware/malware scans and have come up empty and the about:blank popups don't redirect me anywhere else.
How can I stop about:blank popup pages? They're annoying as heck.

    Hi,
Please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. I've no issue when trying to import an existing exchange subscriber and Unity Tools DohPropTest succeeds in creating/deleting a subscriber on AD.
    Any idee?
    Best regards

    Hi,
thanks for your answers. It's not an error regarding filling name, firstname...
There aren't Event Viewer Application Logs when the popup appears.
I've opened a case and will update if they succeed in resolving my issue.

  • Dreamweaver installed but blank popup - what can I do?

I've installed Dreamweaver CS3 on a MacBook Pro. This works on another machine (of the same spec) but on my one when Dreamweaver launched it comes up with a blank popup - see image. The only option is to click 'ok' which then closes the programme. What can I do to get it working?

It Looks like it would prompt you for registration of the Application,
Could you test with a New User Account (Can be simple as a Permission problem)
If the new (Admin) User Account doesn't work check the disk Utility to repair permissions:

I think the problem might also be linked to:
The function `CGSFlushWindow' is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update

and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance

  • Htmlloader flash content blank popup max OSX

Ok this is driving me crazy if anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate the help.   I have a flex app that loads some external pages with an htmlloader.  Whenever there is flash content on those pages a blank (all white with minimize, maximize, close buttons) popup window comes up.   This happens on any page with flash content, if I close the window the flash content stops.     I feel like that didn't always happen but I can't remember, does anyone have any ideas.

by default, flash starts playing and will stop only if there's code to stop it OR there's not enough of the swf downloaded to allow it to play.
in the later case, using a preloader with preloader animation in frame 1 will solve the problem.

  • Blank popup window issue

    Hi,
In my application, I have an ALV in which one of the columns is a link to another ALV in a popup window. If the link is clicked for the first time, the window pops up with all the values as expected. But, if the link is clicked for the second time (any link in the first ALV), I get a blank window as a popup. This time the popup contains all the UI elements except for the view container UI element (ALV). I also created other simple test programs but still face the same issue.
This is happening only in the BW system. The same is not the case in any other development system (confirmed by developing sample programs).
Please help me out to resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Gokul

I am not sure if the below link can help you, but see if it gives any input to you.
    Icon in popup blank

  • I get a blank popup window when clicking a link in some websites. I used to get info in the popup.

I updated to FF 3.6 in early December. Since then there are some regular sites I visit that display a blank page when I click a link that used to have a popup window with the information.

I do not see the Adobe Reader (PDF) plugin listed with your original question. To see the plugins submitted with your question, click "More system details..." to the right of your original question post. You can also see your plugins from the Firefox menu, Tools > Add-ons > Plugins.
    Try the following:
#Close all Firefox windows, File > Exit
#Click (Windows) Start > All Programs (or Programs) > Adobe Reader (Adobe Reader will open)
#On the Adobe Reader menu, click Edit > Preferences > Internet
#Under Web Browser Options, check the "Display PDF in browser" box
    #Click OK. Close Adobe Reader
    #Restart Firefox and test
Also, check your settings for PDF Content type in Tools > Options > Applications (I know you said you have already done this, but check it again after doing the above). See:

  • Blank popup is displayed after popup is displayed

    Hi,
Am calling an application from a link in another application. Both the applications are in the same component. The application that is being called is being displayed in an IFRAME and am just opening the view containing the IFRAME in a popup. The problem am facing is whenever am opening some popup in the popup (application 2) there is some other blank window named SAP Popup Window. Am not sure how to attach that screen shot here but anyone has any idea how to eliminate this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Kiran.

So you are running another WD Component/Application within an iFrame of a parent WD Application?  This is not a recommended or supported appraoch.  You should not use iFrames to intgrate WD Components.  Instead use Component Usages to embed the component within another component (use the ALV as an example).

  • White blank popup permanent on screen front

white rectangle comes on screen with some web sites and stays
in front of all programs and cannot be remove unless I reboot. Not
all web sites cause the popup. When right click is picked on the
square it allows you to go to the Flash Player 9 web site but does
not remove the popup rectangle. Help me get this thing off my
machine. I would remove adobe flash player but several programs
will not run without it. [email protected]

That irritating box has been linked to an AOL add-on. In order to remove the problem extension, you probably need to start Firefox in its Safe Mode so that it doesn't run.
You'll have to shut down Firefox any way you can, for example:
    * Alt+F4
    * right-click its tile on the Taskbar > Close all windows
    * Task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)
To start Firefox in its Safe Mode, hold down the Shift key while double-clicking the shortcut.
A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Refresh).
Then you can go to the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right, look for AOL.
    Any luck?

  • After Firefox opens my AOL home page a blank popup appears and prevents me from closing Firefox or opening the options button . How do I fix this?

I can get to my home page with the Explorer browser. The problem is only on Firefox. I've run Spybot, Malwarebytes, and scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials, but the problem persists. I recently updated Firefox for AOL. And last night I installed updates for my Windows 7 operating system.
I just tried to automatically add troubleshooting information, but I'm using Explorer right now since I can't use Firefox, so the I can't download the file. Since I can't use Firefox I can't use the manual steps either.

    Go to Tools --> Options.
In the Advanced tab go to "General". Uncheck the check box "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

  • Blank Popup in UpdateManager Solaris 10

Hi , I've around 20 machines in my lab which are SunBlade 1500 and running solaris 10. While running the update manager I'm getting the pop up window with empty string and only exclamation mark. I've gone through the other forum topics and as a solution I checked the java version also which is 1.5. I also update the files
    /usr/sbin/pprosvc
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:
    JAVACMD="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"
And in /usr/bin/updatemanager, if you use it (around line 37):
    Change:
    JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5+"
    To:
    JAVA_EXEC="/usr/jdk/latest/bin/java -version:1.5*"
    But still no effect .
After running suc.sh , I get the following message in one of my machine.

I think rather than paying the ridiculous price of $324 for a basic support contract for Solaris 10 or the same $324 for basic OPENSolaris support, maybe its time to totally give up on Sun, throw some (form of) linux on my x86 boxes and ebay my SPARC boxes.
Question: Why won't Sun offer a hobbyist price plan? Something in the range of $75 - $100 per year? I'm floored at the price for OpenSolaris, it seems almost as Sun wants Solaris to fail.

  • Blank popup in safari after google search

Can someone tell me why I get this popoup everytime I submit a search via the built-in google search field in Safari?
And, more importantly, how I can I get rid of it?
This started happenning not long after the upgrade to Lion.
    Thanks!
    J

My girlfriend's computer is having the same issue.  We tried those steps last night, to no avail.  She is generally a safe and savy internet user, and never downloads files.
A temporary fix has been to use the Safari Block Pop-Ups option, but obviously the concern is that whatever is causing this is still running, even if we can't see it.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.  When I get home this evening I will edit in full details of her system.

  • When I click "Options", the popup gives me a blank screen for last 4 or 5 updates.

Since 4 or 5 updates ago, I have been unable to access the options on Firefox. It gives me a blank popup. It is odd seeing just a blank screen and unable to get to anything. All the other pulldown menus work. The addons option works, but I just can't get into my general options. I was desperate enough to try Seamonkey, but I really want Firefox (and yes, Seamonkey's works).

hello, this problem is usually caused by the ghostery addon - you could try to disable it...
