Blank Screen Flash at Preview & Publish
After capturing "live video" for my captivate 3
project I encountered strange blank screen flashes in between the
slides. I called tech support and they gave the following guidance:
- be sure the file is less than 50 MB (if not split into
multiple projects and link them in branching tab)
- Add a blank slide at the end or middle of the project and
set the duration to the shortest time (~.1 sec)
- re-save and then review to see if the blank screen remains
in the project
If the blank screen remains they suggested creating a new
project and then linking to that new project from the branching
tab.
I'll post a follow-up once I run some of these recommended
methods.
Brad
Hi Brad
Usually the "flash" happens because each slide has been
recorded as a full motion slide. One way around this is to grab a
screen capture of your slide as it ends. Then set that as the
background image.
You might also want try configuring the background color of
the slides as dark or medium gray. Typically the background color
is white. This can make it really noticable when the transitions
occur between slides. To do that, you examine the properties of the
slide and configure the background color there.

Laptop blank screen flashing led lights
The HP dv7 laptop blank/black screen with the continuously flashing CapsLk & Num Lock led lights is probably indicative of an overheated graphics processing unit (gpu) on the system/mother board. On the one that I am trying to repair it is an ATI gpu. The gpu is built into the system/mother board.
If laptop gpu is failing then the blinking diagnostic code of the CapsLk & Num lock led lights blinking once would seem to apply. Why even though led lights are flashing continuously? Because the laptop boot tries to load through the gpu via the cpu and fails which thereby triggers the one flashing light then it retries flashing the light again (and again and again continuously). As other posters have commented HP did not seem to care about a design flaw so they hesitate and ignore that fact – they will often tell you that the system/mother board needs replacement. As a matter of record you can see another thread (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Blinking-caps-and-num-lock-lights/m-p/29560#M3853) that has 19 pages of posts with over 230,00 views – unfortunately it has been deemed read only by the HP forum now.
I would refrain from an exact duplicate replacement motherboard without proof that the gpu has been corrected on the replacement board. Ebay has a number of replacement system/mother boards that are less than the over $300 price that HP has quoted for the repair. There has even been a listing for an upgraded board that deals specifically with the gpu issue. If the laptop has 17” monitor like the dv7 it may be very well worth replacing the system/mother board.I have a little more to add
If I turn it on normally, nothing happens on the memory stick (no lights or anything)
If I turn it on while holding down Windows and B, the memory stick turns on after about 15-20 seconds, the light flashes for about 5 seconds then it stops flashing, it just sits on a solid light.
Its almost as if it is searching the memory stick for the files but fails to find them.
I used sp65000.exe to create the recovery stick -
Blank screen flashing question mark/finder, weird sounds
I read some other discussions about the flashing question mark, and restarting the system with the restore disc, which intend to try when I get home, but it is also making clicking sounds. When the power is turned on, it sounds like the disk starts up, but then clicks about 4 times at a slow even meter, then turns off. Then the screen goes black, it swipes blue top to bottom, then the flashing ?/finder over a file folder appears. Is this indicative of anything worse? Also, I tried holding down the option key during start-up, but all I got was an icon with a circle arrow and another with an arrow pointing right. All I got when I clicked on these was an hour glass for a minute then nothing.
Thanks!Update on the problem: Took the computer to the Apple store and the Mac Genius was very helpful. I got mad for a second when he told me that it is policy for warranty items to be UPS delivered for service, all expenses paid by Apple, if you are 50 miles outside the radius of an Apple store. I specifically asked the Apple care customer service person about this before going to the store, and I was told that they only allowed laptops to be shipped in. They probably prefer to sell me something else to allow that. Back to mac genius: luckily, I brought my external hardrive, something I probably would have been told to do if I had paid for Apple care and was able to talk to someone, which the tech people will install Tiger on, run a disk repair program to try to salvage the data on the harddrive, and then drop to the external. If not, data is lost. Either way the harddrive is indeed kaput and will be replaced under warranty.
I called Apple care again and walked through the whole scenario with a rep (not disclosing the info from the mac genius) and she agreed that if I had bought Apple Care, I would have had to go through the exact same excercise. So, phone support is a rip off - the forum is way better. I will be buying the extended warranty, though, due to obvious fears for future problems. Dollars to donuts the red carpet will get rolled out for the next problem considering I paid up. -

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Preview not showing .swfs; only blank screens
This is Captivate 3. Although the live action works if I
preview a single screen, it only shows a blank screen when I
preview sets of screens or the whole project. Suggestions?

Help - Captivate 4 preview/publish problem....
HI
I am having trouble with a project that I am working on in Captivate 4. The problem occurrs when I attempt to preview my project, all I get is a black screen, I have attempted to preview from other points in the project but still get this black screen.
I also published the project and the problem is still there, albeit, no black screen this time just a blank screen - when I right click it says movie not loaded.
I have compared the project settings with other projects that do open up and work fine and cannot find any differences! Most irritating!
Does anyone have any possible solutions at all?? Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex
Attached screen shot of issue:I did a test project of 3 slides - created a template and then added some info - I copied and pasted objects/text etc from the existing project that I am having problems with. Interestingly I dont get the black screen when I preview/publish but I do get some interference on the slide from a jpeg used on Slide 1. For info I've screen shot slide 2 before and after preview to show issue. It feels like I am going to have remove captivate and re-installbut really dont want to have to do that!
Anyone come across this before?
Thanks in advance,
Alex -
EXE Playback Exhibits Blank Screens
Adobe:
Some users report blank screens appearing when running
published EXE file generated by Captivate. When a user experiences
this problem, he is able to reproduce it consistently at exactly
the same place. If the user does nothing, when the blank screen
appears, the user continues to hear audio until the end of the
playback. One workaround to this problem we have found is for the
user to simply click the fast forward button briefly at the moment
the blank screen appears: video returns and playback continues
normally. Though this problem is consistently reproducible by
specific users, it does not occur for all users: some users are
able to playback the EXE file from start to finish without issue. I
have searched through all the forums, but have not found something
specific to this problem - perhaps I've missed it. Can someone
assist us? Thanks you.Hi StephanABren, and to you too geekygURL
Stepahn, I concur with geekygURL re the question on the LMS
as this could have an impact. Something else to look at would be
what version of Flash you are publishing to and the reason is that
if you are publishing to Flash9 and some of your users are still
running Flash7, then you could potentially have problems. Lastly,
if you do not have a PreLoader active, then I would suggest that
you do this as it "holds back" on play until a set % of the file
has loaded. PreLoaders can be setup from:
Edit / Preferences / Start and End node - select the Loading
Screen option on the right

Blank Screen and flashing cursor on new build-P67A GD65 (B3). Help needed.
As per the title, a computer was built for me with the following specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k
Cpu Cooler: Arctic Freezer xtreme Rev 2.0,
Motherboard: MSI P67A – GD65 (B3)
PSU: Super-Flower Amazon 550W
RAM: 4GB G.Skill RipJaws-X, DDR3, 1600
HDD: 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm
Graphics Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme - 1 GB GDDR5
Disc Drive: Samsung SH-223C DVD+RW
Case: Cooler Master 690 II LITE Midi-Tower
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
Everything went ok with the build and installation of the OS. Computer was booting ok. When I took the computer home that evening, powered it on and a blank screen with a flashing cursor on top left hand corner appeared. Tried several times but failed to boot up properly. Just to note that I can enter into the BIOS and it recognizes HDD, processor, Disk Drive and RAM. What I have done so far (of course with advice from computer experts as compared to me) are the following:
1. I removed all the parts except cpu and cooler then put them back. When I restarted a message appeared that win7 need to do a repair. It went thro the process and then it stated it can’t do repair. Did this twice. When I restarted the third time, a blank screen with the blinking cursor appeared again.
2. Cleared the BIOS using the button on the outside of the motherboard and also once using the jumpers inside the motherboard. After doing this, I pressed on the “”ON” button several times (with no power on to the computer) to dissipate any current that was left there.
3. Interchanged the RAM on different slots. Also tried using only 1 stick of Ram at a time.
4. Checked the HDD on another machine and it was ok. Formatted the HDD on the other machine, plugged onto new machine and tried to install OS again but no joy.
At this point, I’m now stuck after almost a month when the machine was built. Would it be the motherboard? RAM? etc. Just wondering if I should RMA the motherboard since it is just over a month when it was delivered.
A point to note, there is a message that comes up when it is booting stating no HDD is detected. I googled this but found out it was to do with a marvel adapter that needs to be disabled or something like that. However, it was mentioned that this wasn’t going to affect the performance of the pc as the BIOS can detect all the components.
I also noticed that when I switch on the pc, there is a small pause before it kicks on then there is a long beep followed by 2 small beeps. I presume this is normal.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated?Quote

Disable EuP 2013 & that should take care of the pause. The beeps are normal at startup. Only time I have observed a blank screen & blinking cursor is if the system wasn't getting enough juice to initialize, or their was insufficient power in an OC attempt. What kind of +12V amps does that PSU you have provide? -
Light is flashing continueously on the front of the apple tv. No picture and no sound. Does anyone know what is wrong? Everything is plug in correctly. When I disconnect everything and re plug it in the apple icon comes up, but then blank screen with no sound and no picture. Does anyone know what is wrong?
l have an apple tv 2 generation please help meWelcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device) -
I am having some trouble with my computer, what happened was: I was playing on a game, I played with a magnet, it started to go slower and slower, I pressed F9 then it went slower and then it went to a blank screen with a flashing document with a question mark on it. I tried the original OS X installation disk but when it came to choosing the area of which I save it, it showed no areas.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk then click Restart.
If the startup disk is not available from that window, you may be able to repair the disk.

HP Laptop. Blank screen and caps and num lock lights flashing.
Hi,
I hope you can help me.
My laptop is the HP Pavilion DV6-1216sa, bought new in September 2009. When I turn it on, I get a blank screen, the fan is working and the wifi, volume and mute lights light up. The caps lock and num lock lights flash together, once everyone 3 or 4 seconds. Normally when this happens (it has happened throughout the life of the laptop), I turn it off and turn it back on, and it works again. However this time, the problem persists. I've tried most combinations to get the bios screen up and I've tried getting it to another screen via hdmi and VGA, but no signal received. I have tried everything recommended by the HP support website. I have checked the battery, ram, and hard drive.
Best regards,
JayThe best cheapest fix is if you can remove the motherboard your self and send it to a refabricator who will check all the chips on the motherboard and reball the bad ones. Cost is about $60-120, closer to the bottom if you can ship them just the board but if necessary they will take the whole laptop and remove the board for you.

I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview Yesterday. Took TEN hours!
Now, I have NO SOUND. There are Korean files on my desktop. My screen flashes from blue to my desktop. It is SLOW.
I had Windows 8 before this. I bought this laptop brand new from a store in January of this year.
Can someone help me either fix the issues or help me get back to Windows 8?it came with windows 8.1 then, the windows 10 preview is still kinda early in the curve so it may have a few problems with your machine
probably be best to wait till the summer when its ready
