Blank Screen in Import Manager under Import Status Tab

Hi Experts,
Problem: Blank Screen in Import Manager under Import Status Tab.
I have opened import manager with source file(excel & xml) and i have also did mapping from source fields to destination fields and also seleted display/key field in match records tab and refreshed it. when I select Import Status tab. I am not able to see any details/status regarding the map which i have done. when i click on excute button.. the source file is sucessfully import and pop up dailogue box shown. I have also checked in Data Manager and data was visible.
But.. at Import Status Tab in import manager.. i am not able to see any details.. it is just showing as white blank screen.
If any one know the solution could you please help me out.
Thanks
Bharat

Hi Bharat,
As per New MDM Release we have to Install MDM 7.1 servers on 64 bit machine and GUI's can be installed on 32 machine, whreas if you are using MDM 5.5 Version then 32 bit machine can be used.
Now as you said that you have sucessfully imported the excel file and then you have mapped the filed after that without any error you got the ready to import screen to import the data into MDM database then processwise there is no problem as far as screens are concern i will suggest you please un-install MDM Import Manager GUI and then again install it, your problem would be solved.
If it doesnt please do let us know.
Thanks and Regards
Praful.

  • Differ between import manager and import server

    Hi to all,
Can any one explain difference between import server and import manager and how the data will be imported to the same.

    MM

    Hi reddy,
Can any one explain difference between import server and import manager and how the data will be imported to the same
Please follow the text below, which has been taken from the help.sap.com
Both MDIS and the MDM Import Manager can import data from a source file into an MDM repository. However, each has unique capabilities that distinguish it from the other. When each is used to its advantage, the result is an import strategy which provides the most efficient importing of data possible.
The strength of the Import Manager is its connection to the source data, which enables its interactive map-making capabilities. When the Import Manager connects to a source it preloads the entire source file, giving it knowledge of every field and every value in the source data. This u201Ctotal awarenessu201D is crucial for preparing a complete import map. To help ensure a map is complete, the Import Manageru2019s Import Status tab alerts users to any discrepancies between source data values and the current map. The user can fix these problems interactively within the Import Manager and save the corrected map before any data is imported.
Preloading an entire source file comes at a price, however. It consumes memory on the computer running the Import Manager and very large source files may exhaust the computeru2019s available memory.
By contrast, MDISu2019s strengths are its scalability and automation.
For scalability, instead of preloading the entire source file into the host machineu2019s memory as the Import Manager does, MDIS processes records in a stream by loading a record at a time into memory.
This streaming technique enables MDIS to process much larger source files than the Import Manager, as the demand for memory on the host machine is not affected by the size of the import file.
In addition to file size, file quantity poses a second scalability challenge. For example, a real-time transactional environment may produce a staggering number of files, each containing only one or two records. To import these files individually through Import Manager would be extremely inefficient. MDIS tackles this problem with a file aggregation feature that processes files systematically in batches rather than as individual files, resulting in faster, more efficient import of data.
As it relates to automation, MDIS requires no user intervention to import files to an MDM repository. Instead, it relies on maps created previously within the Import Manager. Once an import file is placed in the appropriate folder, its data is imported automatically into the MDM repository using the rules of the pre-defined import map. Once a file is processed, MDIS scans the repository for the next file to import. This process continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until either MDIS or MDM Server are stopped.
The trade-off for this scalability and automation is that if discrepancies between the source data and the import map arise, MDIS cannot u201Cfixu201D these problems by itself. Instead, the u201Cproblem casesu201D can be fixed manually at a later time using the interactive capabilities of the Import Manager. Unlike the Import Manager, however, MDIS can set aside problem records or files and continue importing.
These conceptual and operational differences between the Import Manager and MDIS are summarized in the table below.

  • Difference bet. Import manager and Import Server

    Hi
Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a Import Server and a Import Manager? And How data is imported using these two?
    Thanks in advance

    Heii,
    In MDIS :
MDIS can be installed on any machine on a network. It works with the MDM Server to import data automatically into existing MDM repositories. If MDIS and its associated MDM Server are installed on the same machine, no further customization needs to be done. If the MDM Server is located on a separate machine from MDIS, you will need to edit the MDIS settings file, mdis.ini (for more information, see MDIS Configuration).
Before you begin using MDIS, you need to be sure that both MDIS and the MDM Server are running and that the target MDM repository is loaded and running. Directions for starting MDIS are located in this section. Directions for starting the MDM Server and loading a repository can be found in the MDM Console Reference Guide
In case of Import Manger :
The MDM Import Manager is a GUI “cockpit” that defines a very specific sequence of steps to prepare source data for import. But rather than perform the import a record at a time as with other import tools, the MDM Import Manager offers a comprehensive set of data transformation capabilities that allow you to pre-process the source data a field at a time prior to import.
Moreover, for each field, the MDM Import Manager collapses the set of all values across the entire set of source records down to the set of distinct values, whose number will usually be dramatically smaller than the total number of records, often by several orders of magnitude.
Field-at-a-time rather than record-at-a-time processing and the distinct value lists of the MDM Import Manager are together the lynchpin of its patent-pending Parametric Import™ technology, which supports the import of electronic source data from any tabular or XML format.
Hope this might help to remove your confusion between Import Manager and MDIS.
Plese reward If you find this useful.

  • Matching records in Import Manager

    Dear experts,
I'm using SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 and I need to create different catalogs using the same records, distinguished only by some fields like Catalog name, Category and supplier.
But because Iu2019m using same product ID, when I try to import the new records I can only update or replace the fields, which was not the idea.
Does anyone know if this scenario is possible?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Andreia Nascimento

    Hi Andreia,
For importing new records with same Product ID. In Import Manager under Match Records tab Your Matching fields: should be combination of Product ID, Catalog Name, Category and Supplier rather than Product ID only. This will result in importing new records rather than update or replace the fields.

  • Import Manager - Match records clarification

    Hi
In the Import Manager, Match records I would like to have two different fields as match criteria, where I want to gave OR condition betweeen them, how do I achieve the same.
    quick response would be appreciated.
    thanks & regards
    Alexander

In the Import Manager under the tab "Match Records" all possible matching fields are listed in the "Mapped destination fields" box. With double click you can define them as matching fields, they show up then in the "Matching fields" box. An "OR" combination of fields exists, when each entry is displayed in a separate line, an "AND" combination of fields exists, when two entries are displayed in the same line. You can acchieve this by marking entries and pressing then the buttons "Combine" => two entries in one line or "SPlit" => each entry in one line.
After changing the entries, the matching is started again. In the matching results, you can see then, whether records have a 100% match (each of the selected fields) or a partial/conflict match. Partial and conflict matches mean, that at least one of the compared fields match.
This is described in detail in the Data Manager Guide.
    Hope, this helps, Klaus

  • Import manager getting closed while importing

when i am trying to import the excel sheet thru import manager, the import manager is getting closed in the step while it is getting "prepared for importing the records."
Can someone tell me why it is so.

    Hi Shifali
some check points to be followed:
    1. After connecting to the excel file see in the source preview for blank rows and columns. If existing delete all such empty rows and connect to the file again.
    2. If data is in multiple sheets are you using for field for joining the sheets? please ensure that there is atleast 1 field used for joining the sheets.
    3. How big is the excel file? Try to import the records in chunks that is split the excel file to contain only say 10k records and connect to smaller files and see if import manager is working fine.

  • Help using workflow for import manager

    hi all,
assumes import server is used for automation creation/update of records,
i need to design a workflow to verify existing record  that:
if a validation pass: update all fields + update mapping key
if a validation fail : update mapping key only
can anyone provide good suggestion on how it can be done via workflow?
MDM API is out of scope...
    thanks,
    Shanti

    Hello Shanti
Import manager and import server  launch workflow after data loading is finished.
You cannot manage loading rules from workflow.
You can create two inbound ports:
    one for keys loading
    another one for keys+fileds loading

  • SSRS 2012 Blank Screen Report Manager

Installed SQL Server 2012 and configured Reporting through configuration manager but whenever i use the http://<servername>/Reports it gives me blank screen.
    Things i tried
    >Opening browser with Admin privileges
    > Trusted sites inclusion
    >Changing ports for report manager
    >Fresh install of SQL Server
    Other Details
    > Service account used = Network Service
    > ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB are created and accessible.
    > Reports accessing with full admin privileges
    Error:
Blank screen on report manager | HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

    Hi Saurabh,
Based on my research, we can refer to the following three tips to troubleshooting this issue:
Check whether the TCP port number of reporting services is duplicate with other sites' on IIS. We can find the TCP port number of reporting services in Web Service URL or Report Manager URL pages of reporting services configuration tool.
Check whether the SQL Server Name is correct in the Database tab in Reporting Services Configuration Manager. We can see the correct server name when we connect Reporting Services Configuration Manager. And based on my research, the Reporting Services server
name is the computer name which install the report server.
Check if the SecureConnectionLevel set to 0 which is least secure. To check this, open the rsreportserver.config file, by default, this file is stored at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer, and locate
    its
< Add Key="SecureConnectionLevel" Value="0"/> element and ensure its value is set to 0.
If the issue is still exists, please try to use the report links in Web Service URL and Report Manager URL of reporting services configuration manager tool, and check the error logs.

  • Using Import manager with XI

    Hi,
I am working with Import manager without any connection with XI. So, I have created by myself a XML file and a its corresponding XSD file, and I have put the XSD file into the console using XML Schemas Table.
Finally, I choose into the MDM Import manager the next options:
                         - Type: XML Schema.
                         - Client System: MDM.
                         - XML Schema: the XML Schema declared.
                         - File name: the XML file created.
The import manager imports the XML file correctly. But, my question is:
It's the same using XI? I mean, How works MDM Import manager using XI?
For instance, If I want to work with a CRM client system:
                            1. XI works with CRM and tranforms its IDocs to XML.
                            2. XI puts its XML file into any folder (than doesn't correspond with the ports declared into the MDM Console).
                            3. Finally, XML takes the XML file in to that folder (exactly in the same way that I did before)
                            4. MDM Import manager then imports the XML file into the repository.
Is that correct or the process is absolutely different using XI?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marta.

Each time you create a <b>Port</b> in the MDM Console directories are created on the server to hold data being exported and imported via the Import Server and the Syndication Server.  If you log into your server you can find these directories in a heirarchy similar to this:
    /opt/MDM/Distributions/ServerName/Repository/
So for example, a directory for one of your <b>Ports</b> may be:
    /opt/MDM/Distributions/MDM_ORA/Material/Inbound/ECC(clientsystem)/In_ECC(portname)/
In that directory you will find several folders.  One of which is the <b>Ready</b> folder. That is where the import server looks to find files to import.  You can change the settings for the Import Server in its .ini file.  This file is probably located in either your /opt/MDM folder or /opt/MDM/bin depending on how the installation was set up.  There you can set how frequently you want the import server to check that port directory.  If you are on unix you start the import server by navigating to the /opt/MDM/bin directory and running the command:
    ./mdis
Then check that it's running via command:
    ps -ef | grep mdis
If you are on a Windows server you simply have to right click -> start the service in <b>Services</b> panel.  Also make sure to check the /Exceptions folder in the port directory (same location as the Ready folder), because if the import fails, a file will show up there and lock the port from further use until that file is removed from the Exceptions folder.
    Good luck

  • Maximum Number Of Records Import Manager can handle.

    Hi Guys,
I want to know the maximum number of records Import Manager can import / handle at a time.
    Thanks in advance .
    Best Regards,
    Ramchandra Kalkar.

    Amol,
The reference guide lists the limit at 50,000 records.
My experience is that this is not necessarily the case. To me it seems as though the maximum import depends somewhat on the number of fields you are trying to import. Meaning you can probably import 50,000 records if the file only contains two columns/fields, but if the file contains many columns/fields you probably will encounter difficulty trying to import 50,000 records at a time.

  • Brief about Console, data manager and Import manager

    1. what is it
    2. How the 3 is interlinked
    3. can the data manager be loaded directly without a import
    4. is there a std way of creating repository
    5. I need to do samples on vendor, customer harmonisation and the spend analysis and matl master harmonisation..
Iam asking too much in this forum but i knw you guys are there to help me out.

    MDM Console
The MDM Console allows the system manager to administer and monitor the MDM Server, and to create, maintain the structure of, and control access to the MDM repositories themselves. Records are not entered or managed with the MDM Console, but rather with client apps such as the MDM Client.
    MDM Client(data manager)
The MDM Client is the primary client of the MDM Server, and is the program most users see on their PCs. It allows users to store, manage and update master data consisting of text, images, and other rich content, and to create taxonomies, families, and relationships. Other clients include the Import Manager, the Image Manager, and the Syndicator.
    Import Manager
Allows you to import master data from most types of flat or relational electronic
source files (e.g. Excel, delimited text, SQL, XML, and any ODBC-compliant source),
and to restructure, cleanse, and normalize master data as part of the import process.
    <i>2. How the 3 is interlinked</i>
    --->
Suppose you are sending vendor information to MDM repository be sending IDOC from R/3. Then the whole process can go as... IDOC will be sent to XI, so XI will generate XML file that contains data. Then import manager can import this file and will so place the data in repository.
Now if you want to send data in MDM repository, the process goes reverse way. Syndicator will generate flat/xml file. This file will be given to XI so that XI will generate IDOC out of it and will send it to XI. This whole process ensures data consistancy

  • Security around MDM Import Manager/Syndicator

    Hi -
I am trying to see if there is any way within the MDM 5.5 SP6 to limit the use of the Import Manager and Syndicator.  I did some testing and found that users assigned with roles that have Read-Only access to all tables/fields and no Execute access for any functions were able to log in to Import Manager and import data to the repository.
I also found this in the Import Manager reference guide.
NOTE &#9658;&#9658; Currently, the MDM Import Manager does not check any
security constraints set in the MDM Console. Specifically, with the
following exceptions: (1) the import will fail if any record constraints are
set for the import user; and (2) you must have write access to the
Family Hierarchy if the Synchronize Family Hierarchy After Import
configuration option is set to Yes.
I'm guessing not, but does anyone know if there is any way within MDM to restrict the use of these applications?  And if no, any ideas on if/when SAP is going to do incorporate security constraints with these applications?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
I was just thinking that if none of the users should Import , then how they can accidently import records. They simply wont have Import Manager GUI.
So no need to worry for the project.
However you raised a good point and it will be good if SAP will come up with solution for it.

  • Import Manager doesn't recognize E1MARAM segment

Using MDM_CLNT_EXTR and MATERIAL_EXTRACT object to create IDOC for materials.  Use WE14 to send IDOC to XML port.  I then use Import Manager to import XML doc into MDM.
If I use a material number range in MDM_CLNT_EXTR that gets multiple materials, the MDM import manager sees the E1MARAM segment as a source table.  However, if I only specify 1 material number in the extraction program then the import manager doesn't recognize the E1MARAM segment.
I can open the XML files and see that the segment is there. Does anyone have any experience with this?
