Blank screen saying disc full on mac pro

My mac pro - message came up saying disc is full then blank blue screen how can i resolve this issue

Try starting your computer with the original DVD that came with your Mac Pro, then open disk utility to check your hard drive and check the remaining space.  To delete items you will need to open the Terminal program or start your computer with a external hard drive then move some files.  To use the terminal you would need to use some Unix commands to delete or copy files.   http://www.macworld.com/article/142453/2009/08/full_hard_drive.html

Just in case it's an iPhoto problem suggest that you also cross-post in one of the iPhoto Forums where the iPhoto users hang out. Hopefully, someone will see your post & respond.
    Good Luck.

  • My recent purchase of QuickTime 7 Pro for Mac OS X upgrade doesn't do "screen record" on my Intel Mac Pro with system 10.6.8. Apple won't accept responsibility and refund my money.

QuickTime 7 doesn't offer that, but the built-in QuickTime X Player does. You may find another use for the key.

  • Screen Rotate 90° on new Mac Pro fails

I have a NEC MultiSync LCD 3090WQXi (2560x1600 pixels) hooked up to my new Mac Pro (late 2013, AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB graphics), which I transferred from my old Mac Pro (early 2009). Whereas the Display System Preference would correctly rotate the screen 90° on the old Mac Pro, it will not do so on the new one. Clearly, there is enough VRAM to support this task, but when I attempt to do so, only non-optimum resolutions, much smaller than the display is capable of showing will work, competely distorting the screen objects.

I appreciate the thought, but I'm not looking for someone to take wild stabs at what the problem might be.
As I indicated above, this is not a cabling issue. If that were the case, the cable would not be able to address the resloution in either orientation, yet it works fine horizontally. This is either a hardware issue in the graphics card or more likely a software issue.
FYI, the NEC monitors do not have DisplayPorts, so your cable suggestion is moot. The only existing solution is a Dual-Link DVI-D to MiniDisplay Port adapter. The standard DVI-D to MiniDisplay Port cable will not support 2560x1600 pixels.

  • Blank screen after display driver update Satellite Pro P200

I installed the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 display driver (8.432, from the Toshiba site via Tempo) on my Satellite Pro P200 yesterday. On rebooting everything looks fine as far as the Windows Vista Business "Please wait ..." screen, but instead of displaying the login page I get a blank screen (with a mouse cursor that moves around as normal). All I can do at this point is power off, and I've run out of ideas on how to get any further.
    Things I've tried:
    # booting into safe mode, low-resolution video or last known good configuration all result in the same blank screen.
    # connecting to the system using remote desktop (to disable the driver) isn't possible because the system hasn't loaded the network drivers yet.
    # I can't revert to a restore point because Vista can't find any (I made a manual one after installing windows updates on a couple of days ago).
I can run a command prompt from the system recovery options and would prefer to use that to disable the driver +if+ I knew how before resorting to the more drastic options.
A web search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ati+catalyst+vista+blank+screen&hl=en&sa= N) reveals that this has happened on a wide range of laptops with
previous releases of the driver, but none of the links I've looked at give a solution that's available to me.

No joy with an external screen so I bit the bullet and reinstalled from the product recovery disk. I tried expert mode to retain the data partition but that failed twice, so I had to restore it from the previous day's backup after doing a full reinstall. Two consolations, though.
    # It allowed me to increase the size of the data partition.
    # The display driver update worked fine on the fresh install.
Needless to say I've since found [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927525] which describes how you can disable a problem device driver (atikmdag in my case) from the system recovery command prompt :-(
Hopefully the instructions in there will help anybody who gets caught with similar problems.

  • My disc drive on Mac Pro will not read installation dvds

I have been trying to install some software on my Mac Pro  - OS 10.8.  It will not read the installation DVD.  It acts like it is blank.  I thought this was a faulty dics drive so I purchased a new one from OWC and installed it and it is doing the same thing!
Please help I payed a lot for this software and cant use it.

Since you're on your second optical drive, does the new one (and, for that matter the old one) read any optical disk? If it does, then there might still be something wrong with the disk from that manufacturer. If no disk is readable, I'd doublecheck the cabling to the drive. I'd also call OWC tech support. I've dealt with them for many years and they've always been very helpful with any problems.
As far as the software goes, you bought a license as well as an installer disk. Does the manufacturer have a website from which you could download a trial version of the software that could be converted to a full, operating version with the license key that should have come in the box with the disk?

  • How can I boot from USB 3.0 disc on a Mac Pro 2013

I am just setting up a 2013 Mac Pro with a 4TB USB 3.0 external drive. I have cloned my boot disc over to it but have problems being able to boot from the USB drive.
It shows up in the startup disc in system preferences, but when selected as the boot disc and restarted it just boots from the internal SSD. Also have checked booting and holding the ALT key to see what happens but I am just shown the SSD and Recovery disc as options to boot from.
So it appears I can not boot from a USB disc on my new Mac Pro, is there a solution to this problem?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Time Capsule says unreadable by new mac pro

i have a 2006 and a new 2012 mac pro and i am trying to hook up my G Tech 3 TB drive with my TIME MACHINE backup from my old computer to the new computer. when i plug it in and turn it on it says it is unreadable and asks me if i want to initialize it. i can turn on the old machine and turn it on and see if it recognizes it but does anyone know what is going on here?
does anyone know if i should be able to restart TIME MACHINE on the new computer with a new drive getting backed up or if i need to reformat it?
    THANKS

hey. thanks for the very good advice.
i am going to plug the TIME MACHINE backup into the old mac pro and i will see if it mounts. right now i have tried to get it to mount from within DU and even this did not get it to mount. if i just plug it in and wait i get an error saying i need to reformat it (but with some other term i forget).
not quite sure what i should do if i can't get the new mac pro to recognize it - even if the old mac pro /does/ recognize it.
i mean, it is sort of a catch 22 in terms of whether i reformat it to use as a backup to the new machine or if i just buy a new one for the new machine and leave this somehow hooked up to the old machine for a period of time...!

  • How many install disc does the Mac Pro come with? Snow leopard is preinstalled.

I have an application install disc that has ilife and a few others but I'm thinking that I may have disc for the system and optional installs somewhere.
I bought the mac pro tower in march of 2010.
I cant remember what came with it.

  • Power Supply Fan Always Runs Full Throttle - Mac Pro (Early 2008)

My Mac Pro has been almost flawless since I purchased it new in February 2008. I did not purchase the AppleCare because I rather naively assumed at the time that my shiny new Mac Pro was an invincible machine. (I was seduced by Apple after all!) Well, that was when I was younger (about 2.5 years ago) and before I knew about the actual cost of things like Logic Boards and Apple Power Supplies... Now the $250 AppleCare lifeline seems like a bargain!
    The Problem:
1 week after installing Windows 7 64-bit to a separate internal hard drive using boot camp 3.1, my Mac Pro was playing music from the local iTunes library in Snow Leopard when the power supply fan revved up to 2760 rpm! I immediately tried rebooting the machine, resetting the PRAM and SMC several times, but the fans continue to throttle up to almost 2800 rpm within seconds of powering on the Mac.
I have run the Apple Hardware Test several times and every time it generates the same error code within 1 loop of either the extended or regular test:
    4SNS/1/40000001: lp0C-0.000
An Apple Support technician was kind enough to "sneak" me a little bit of information about the error code. He told me the message is Logic Board Sensor related and could be caused by a faulty Logic Board, Sensor Board (Ambient Board?), Power Supply or possibly a faulty sensor that might be repairable.
    Emotion:
Other than my 6 month old daughter eyeing the Mac Pro with the same suspicion she reserves for the Dyson vacuum cleaner, the computer still works fine--it hasn’t crashed in either Windows 7 64-bit or Snow Leopard and I haven’t noticed any unusual behavior. I had one other problem with this computer about 1 year ago when I installed Vista using boot camp. About a week after the Vista install, the OEM ATI HD 2600 XT completely died and I replaced it with a GTX 285.
I have grown a little suspicious about the efficiency of boot camp in the Windows environment, but perhaps the 2 separate boot camp installs and subsequent hardware failures are coincidence or related to the hardware issue I am yet to resolve...?
Hopefully, someone in the Apple community will offer guidance to a swift and economical solution!
Thank you in advance for your time.

  • Full Screen Mode - not "Full" on MacBook Pro w/30" Display

I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro (early 2011) OS 10.7.2 w/Photoshop 12.1 x64. I'm using a 30" Cinema Display. When I select Full Screen with Menu Bar Mode there is a gap at the bottom of the screen where the desktop is visible. I also notice that the Rotate View Tool is not available when the 30" display is in use with MacBook, although it IS available when I work from the MacBook screen. (Open GL Mode - Normal is selected in PShop Prefs) Any fixes for this?
I also work at another studio which has a MacPro running PS 12.1x64 on a 30" display. The full screen mode & Rotate View both work properly on that system.
Perhaps someone will insist that this is a question for the Apple forum, but I'm guessing that forum will insist that I start here. So here goes. Thanks.

I'm having exactly the same hard- and software configuration like you, Gordito73 - up to date of course as well. Aperture continues to crash after it really seams to run out of memory while editing lots of photos with many different effects. -.-

Will this be good enough for FCP editing and reviewing HD content?
Probably not - but I have no experience with that monitor.
Not what you asked but why not keep the Dell for displaying FCP timeline, bins, etc and purchase a quality HDTV and the means to feed it a hd signal (eg AJA Kona series, various Blackmagic cards, Matrox MXO series, etc) for viewing output?
