Blank Selection Screen in BEX

I have an enduser that is on Excel version 2003 SP3. He has Business Explorer version 3.5 installed. After selecting a workbook the selection screen pops up but it is blank. How do we correct that problem?

Blank screen is cause from Internet explorer 7.0. Need IE6.0 installed to be compatible

Add Exchange rate type to Selection Screen in BEx

BW Experts,
Business raised a request to add Exchange Rate Type(KURST) from TCURR table in the selection screen of BEx so that they can select the required rate and target currency for a particular key figure.
In Query Designer we can provide variable for currency by going into the context menu of key figure but not sure how to provide a variable on Currency Conversion Key.
Please suggest.

Hi there,
You could with user exit define a variable ready for imput but in step 1 prefill the variable with only those values, but this would still when the user executes when pressing F4 be able to check all that. Nevertheless that variable would be prefilled with the values you wish in user exit.
Another option is to mark 0RTYPE in RSD1 as authorization relevant and manage different authorization values for the users. This way you could when the user presses F4 see only values he/she is authorized.

Layout in selection screen of Bex report

Hi Gurus,
I have a report which is needed by many users.
Now each user has a different way to use the report
like SE wise,material wise,payer wise , each with selected key figures.
Now i have one solution that to create a seperate view for each user, but i dont want to maintain number of views.
Again i have to schedule the same report for email to diferent users through Enterprise Portal where Views are not supported
so can i have any other way to meet this requirement
Can we have layout selection in bex report selection screen ( as we have in R/3 reports) ?
( i m using BI 7.0 and EP 6.0)

Hi Sonal,
If you are using EP end, then that can be achieved at there but for the same as u already said that you have to create either views of the query or you have to create seprate query's itself and at the EP end you can define which query you want at Different selection. But at BI end there is as such no option to do so, i mean at query level .

Missing selection screen for Bex Application iView

Hi,
I have configured a Bex Application iView, for which I am able to see the selection screen in preview but when I attach this to workset and try to open it in portal, the report is displayed directly with out selection screen.
Here are the steps I did
1. Created Bex Application iView with provied query string.
2. Assigned this iView to Page.
3. Attached this page to workset and then to role.
4. Login to the portal for respective user to see the report.
5. When I click on the link for the report, the selection screen is bypassed and the report is displayed directly.
Note: I was able to see the selection screen in preview for both Page and iView.
Could anyone through light on this problem.

Problem in Selection Screen for Bex

Hi All,
I am encountering a surprising scenario. One query that we had developed is working from my id. But from one user in the selection screen two characteristics are not being shown, Yet in the spreadsheet it shows that it has put restrictions on those two characteristics. I am not sure why its happening like that.
Could someone please guide me on this.

Hi Saugata,
This may be due to the fact that this user has set the personalized values for these chars... ask the user to run the query and then in the BEx toolbar ask him to click on Change button > Change variable values. This will bring up all the variables and then the user can delete the personalization that has been set.

Display F4 values as TEXT ONLY on selection screen of Bex report

Hi,
I have InfoObject with text(short) loaded for it. In Bex report on selection screen, I need to display ONLY TEXT values when you do F4 for values. How this can be achieved? I get key & text both now.
Please note that I have tried all below settings -
1. Set Text in InfoObject maintenance screen.
This setting is over-ridden if you have multiprovider specific settings defined.
2. Set Text in Infoprovider Specific properties.
Here if you do KEY only, it works.. if you do KEY & TEXT, it works... but if you do TEXT only, it DOESNT work. It works for filter F4 values after report is executed but doesnt work for F4 values on Selection screen. There is no way I am able to get TEXT only on F4 values on selection screen.
3. Set Text in Query
These setting defines how value is displayed on report output. Nothing to do with F4 or Filter values.

VBA To judge "Cancel" at variable selection screen in BEx analyzer

Hi BI experts,
I need some advices about how to judge whether "Cancel" button is pressed or not.
We need correction of Excel Macro for migrating reports from 3.x to 7.x.
<Summary of Macro>
1.Call variable selection screen once you pressed VBAbutton.
2.Then, depends on pressed "OK" or "Cancel", the following process wil be diverged.
　
＜1st process's change＞
Old：「Return_Code = Run("SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXrefresh", False, inWorksheet.Range("B30"))　」
New：「Return_Code = Run("BExAnalyzer.xla!MenuChangeVariable")」
<2nd process's change>
Under 3.x verstion, I used the situation that workbook would not be updated if you pressed "Cancel" button and write the logic.
But under 7.x verstion, even if you pressed the "Cancel" button, the workbook would be updated.
So, now I can not use the logic before and need to correct it.
Please give me some advice how to judge whether "Cancel" button is pressed or not at variable selection screen.
Also my correction of calling logic of variable selection screen?

How to make variable selection button (VBA) in 7.x, which has chance to choose "OK" and "Cancel".
I see a lot of posts about VBA, but most of them are about under 3.x verstion.

In NetWeaver BI 7.0 authorization object S_RS_PARAM must be maintained for the user so that the user can create a variant.
But in your case you want to restrict user from creating a variant.
So, in that case authorization object S_RS_PARAM should not be maintained for the user to restrict them from creating variants in BEx.

Restrict filter values that are shown in the selection screen

Hi Experts
1) Is it possible to restrict the filter values that are shown in the selection screen in BEx web? When a user are asked to enter a material number and uses the selection button in BEx web, he should only see material numbers for one specific plant. How is this done?
2) Is it possible to remove the selection button for å characteristic filter in the selection screen in BEx web? The selection button I am talking about is the button to the right of where you enter the filter value (two white papers on top of each other). If there is no solution for question 1 we have to go for question 2 solution.
We are using BI 04s, SP 09.

Hi Erik,
It seems that you would like the user to see value for 1 single plant. If the Plant Value is fixed then you can use this value in the Query and hardcode it.> in the query go to the Plant Chrac and keep a constant value of the Plant.
How ever if you need this value to be dynamic then use a variable for customer exit and populate this value using ABAP.

How to include Navigational attribute in the selection screen

Hello All,
Can any body please tell me how to include a navigational attribute in the selection screen in BEX?

Let´s go step by step.
In your example, you mentioned the characteristic called 0MAT_PLANT. Its navegational attributes are allocated in the same dimension the main characteristic belongs. So 0MRP_CONTRL, as a navegational attr. must be allocated in the same dimension as 0MAT_PLANT.
1) In query designer in Bex (left pane) find the dimension where 0MAT_PLANT is allocated. Find the navegational attr. in the same dimension, 0MRP_CONTRL. Pls verify you are looking to a navegational attribute, activate technical names and the name of the attr must be 0MAT_PLANT__0MRP_CONTRL.
2) Below the attribut (still left pane) you will find a Variable icon (yellow). If you see the "+" symbol, it means that at least one variable exists (standar or not). Open it and check if the variable suits your requeriment to set it in selection screen. If not, create a new one (let me know if you need help with this task).
3) Once you have your variable for the navegational attribute, drag and drop it to the design area (row, column, filter).
4) Verify the order you want this variable to appear from the menu bar: Query properties -> Sequence of Entry Variables.

Selection Screen - can it be better ?

Hello Experts,
My selection screen contains about 15 selection (variables). They are shown as an flat list of input fields. Some blocks of this variables are in an relationship. In an normal ABAP selection-screen I would group it into blocks. Some variables are Yes/No variables. In an ABAP selection screen I would made check-boxes for it.
Are there some possibilities to change the standard look of selection screen in BEX/WEB: add grouping variables, use check-boxes, radio buttons ?

Attribute can be a field for selection screen

For 0employee i have made a attribute as organization unit in a report,so org unit is attribute for 0employee and now my requirement is that i want that organization unit to be in selection screen for Bex reporting so that the user can choose the org unit from the selection screen only.

If you need to include organization unit, which is a attribute of 0employee, in you report, you need to perform the below steps.
1. In the 0EMPLOYEE characteristic Attribute tab, make organization unit as a Navigational attribute.
2. In the InfoProviders on which the query is created, you need to select organization unit as a navigational attribute.
3. If your report is created on a multiprovider, you need to select organization unit as a navigational attribute in Multiprovider also and create assignment for it.
ex: If your report is based on a multiprovider, which is created on a Cube and cube has a ODS below it, you need to perform above steps at all levels.
You will now be able to see the organization unit as a characteristic in report, just pull it and create a variable.

While transporting the name of the varient will be transported, You have to explicity assign the values across the landscape for that perticular varient.
