Blank spot on touch screen

A little after I got the 2.0 update, my iPod developed a blank spot, and now I can't use many applications because of this. Also, restoring it didn't help.

By "blank spot" I meant a spot on which when you touch it, nothing happens, as apposed to a white or black spot on the screen. Also, the "blank spot" forms a straight line horizontally across the screen.

Dead spots on touch screen, but only when using text or safari

For some reason my phone has dead spots, which CHANGE although one thing is consistent. I cannot press "send" on a message unless I am replying to a text straight away. I cannot initiate and then send.
What is stranger, is that if i pull up the SAME keyboard on the facebook app, it works perfectly.
So far i have tried recalibrating, resetting and restoring the phone to no effect. If has not been in water (unless splashed unbeknowns to me)
Has anyone had a similar issue and how did they fix it? My iphone is 3rd gen so no warranty but was in perfect working order until yesterday.

I can certainly understand your frustration. I have not heard of any other cellphone or PDA manufacturer that gives out free loaners while their equipment is being replaced. Although I have certainly heard about this practice in BMW and Mercedes dealerships, the cellphone/PDA industry is a little different.
I am surprised they had never heard of the problem, which probably means they have never visited this forum. I have read many posts regarding this problem, and if a reset/restore doesnt do the trick, it has always required repair or replacement.
Its the same with a Treo or a Motorola Q or a Blackberry. It is not reasonable to expect the manufacturer (Palm, Motorola, etc) to provide free loaners. The cost for this "free" service would inevitably have to be passed on to all buyers. I have a cheapy GSM phone in a drawer I use to stick my SIM card in when I don't want to use my iPhone, or in the event I have to send it in for repair. Having that alternative is my responsibility, not Apple's.
Now that I think of it, Palm doesnt even rent loaners. I would have been stuck with NOTHING had my Treo required service. At least Apple gives me a better choice.

Touch screen trauma

When I received iPad found spot on touch screen . Tried to remove spot with soft cloth . When trying to remove using eyeglass cleaner , particles of spot came loose and scratched touch screen . I read on Internet about cases where apple replaced screens for others, but refused in my case. I can understand if this was from abuse but it was not . I was planning to purchase another but not anymore.

We do not work for Apple, so I personally could care less if you buy anything Apple.

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what. Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:

how do you mean? does it not turn on? or is it on but nothing booting up?
If it doesn't turn on is it possible that the battery is totally drained? if so, charge it fora while and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't boot up you can try resetting it - hold down the sleep and home keys, past the red power down slider and until you see the silver apple logo come up.
You can also try restoring it with iTunes.
If that doesn't work then you may need to take it into the Apple store and have them take a look at it.

You may have a hardware problem. To help determine do the following in order:
- Reset:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod fom backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problems you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Honestly, there isn't much advice we can give you. If you believe it's a flaw in the display panel, take it to your local Apple Store and have the genius take a look at it.

Galaxy Note 2 blank touch screen data recovery

Got a new Note II because I had insurance, but the old touch screen is completely broken (blank). I was hoping to transfer data to my PC via USB, but is there ANY way to get to the data with no screen interface?

First thing first, do you have "USB Debugging" enabled?
If so, you can use ADB to access the phone via a PC
I had a completely smashed Note II screen before, nothing worked at all with my fingers, but the S-Pen worked fine!

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Ipod touch Screen Dead Spots? (*Video Included)

I have a 16 Gig 1G ipod touch .. my problem is that my touch screen has glitchy/ dead spots my whole top row of the keyboard will not work to my touch anymore unless i stit there and tap the letter P or any top letter for 1 min. i can not reorganize my bottom row or feature row on the wiggle feature . everything else works fine but also some times when i scroll the scroll is a little glitchy and might select something i did not choose. NOTE: i have restored my ipod and upgraded to 3.0.. still the problem exist. i noticed after i pluged my ipod into a sound dock stero the day after. VIDEO

trust me i reste it multiple time.. and finally restored it a couple weeks ago but nothing my whole top line of my keyboard is dead and wont type..

It works for many users. In some cases the white screen is due to a hardware problem and there is nothing that one can do short of getting someonet to know what they are doing and take the iPod apart andmaybe fix the hardware problem.

Blinking Lights / Touch Screen Blank / B210a

A couple of times for no known reason my 'all in one' B210a has shut it's touch screen down (to dark with no way to touch and re light) with the Power button blinking. Seems as though it has gone into 'sleep mode' however niether touching the touch screen
or pushing the power button will wake up or turn off. I find myself in these times having to COLD BOOT (bad idea) by unplugging device. At reboot the device obviouisly tell's me I'm a bad boy for unplugging however this is the only way I can get the printer
back online. This has happened while my PC was turned off and while it was turned off.
Any help out there?

LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP Touch screen totally blank

Hi I have a Laserjet Pro 200 color MFP 276n which was working fine on friday - printing via a USB and photocopying using the screen. I've come to use it this morning and the printer has nothing on the touch screen and nothing around the screen. I get a brief red cross in the bottom right when I turn the printer on but that's it.
But to make it worse the computer says that it can't connect to the printer to try and trouble shoot. I've tried 3 different USB ports on the computer and nothing happens.
I've tried disconnecting the printer from the computer and trying to do a reset as per other issues I've found say to press where the arrow is on the right when turning the printer on - nothing happens. I've also tried pressing on the bottom left of the screen when turning it on - no difference.
Does anyone have any other idea's please.

I see by your post that there is no display on the printer. I can help you with this.
Make sure there is no damage on the power cord and that it is connected directly to a wall outlet.
The printer shouldn't be exposed to any electric or magnetic field.
Try another outlet in another room, just to rule that out.
I have provided a document for display or power issues.
The Printer Will Not Turn On or Respond When the Power Button or Power Switch is Pressed.

Weird Touch Screen Behavior...Im rethinking the purchase

I don't know how to accurately describe the problem, but I will give it my best shot.
Sometimes your touch pad on your computer seems like it has a weird blank spot where it does not register when you touch it. This is the same thing on my iphone. It happens towards the bottom, right side of the phone. Did I get it wet or something?
I knew I should have waited a while to buy this thing! I cant type a text or email, and I'm afraid that I broke it and it wont be covered.

Try a hard reset first. To do that, hold the Home button (only button on the face of the phone) and the Sleep/Wake button (Skinny button on top) until the phone turns off and then boots to an Apple logo. When you see the Apple you can let go and it will boot to the home screen. Test it out and see if the "dead spot" is still there.
If that doesn't work, connect the iPhone up to your computer and on that Summary screen that comes up in iTunes there should be a "Restore" button. Click it. Let the download go, and leave the iPhone connected until the restore is finished. You should be able to re-sync all of your data after the restore is finished.
If the restore doesn't work, call Apple! If you haven't dropped this thing or gotten it wet, then it will be covered. It's at least worth a shot.
