Blank square in middle of article

I am in the process of putting together a newsletter on Adobe In-Design4. I uploaded an article and there is a blank square in the middle of the article which I can not delete. I can not highlight with the pointer arrow. I tried uploading another article and the same square was there so I know it is not the article. I tried deleting the page but the blank square still appeared in the article on the new blank page. I am out of options and ideas and need help. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

Well, you are pretty much right. It wasn't from the master but it was a text wrap issue from a previous article on that page. I do not understand why it stuck around but did. Thank you so much for steering me in the right direction.

There are some sites listed in my history that I know that I did not lookup. I am wondering if perhaps these are pop-up sites that were not actually accessed or if someone else has been looking up sites on my computer. The sites in question have a "symbol" beside it that looks like a blank square drawn with a dotted line. Sites that I know that I have visited have a logo representing that site.

Beats me what it is doing there, but here is the oft repeated explanation :
iWeb uses the textbox in the Header layer of an iWeb page as the title in the browserwindow.
If the textbox in the Header is missing, iWeb uses a textbox down the page in the Content layer. If that textbox is also missing, it uses another textbox. If that fails it uses the pagename in the Sidebar. To replace a missing textbox in the Header, choose another theme and then change it back to the original one.
Sometimes you may want a different text in the titlebar and not display it on the page itself. Or not display it at all.
So use that textbox in the Header layer. Type your text. Do Command-T to open the font palette and make the font smaller (Or do Command--(minus)). Then select the textbox. In the Inspector choose T, click a color to open the color palette and drag the opacity slider to 0 (zero).
Resize the textbox. You may want to change the height of the Header layer.
Do Command-Shift-B to move the textbox to the back, possibly behind other objects.
Next add a optional second textbox to the Header layer and use that one to display text on the page.
If you want to move the textbox to the front again to make changes, but can't remember the location on the page, drag the area with the mouse to select the objects.
Deselect objects you do not want to move forward by Command-dragging the mouse over these objects.
Next do Command-Shift-F to move the textbox to the front. Repeat the steps in reverse order to make the text visible.

TS1702 The app works but won't show the icon on the screen-its just a blank square with the app title.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Some of the app icons are just a blank square with the name of the app. They still work. I've tried to resync but get same result.

What about completing removing these apps from the iPod Touch and redownloading them from the App Store?

A blank square appears at the top left corner of my screen after close the preferences window in Mac OS X

Whenever I open the preferences window and close, a blank square of 120px (aprox) appears at the top left corner of the screen. The square doesn't dissapear untill I exit from Firefox and reopen it.

Updated to OS X Yosemite, now photos appear as blank squares. What to do?

When I updated to OS X Yosemite I had to update iPhoto too. Then all my 2,000 photos were thrown in a recovered photo file, but I cannot see them anymore, they appear as blank squares. Asked for Apple support with no answer. What to do?

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Why just blank squares when I open iphoto?

I'm running version 4.0.3. Have 2500 photos and numerous albums. When I open iphoto all I get is empty squares with the photo number beneath. I loaded two photos from a camera card and they are just fine. I tried the iphoto "rebuild the photo data base" by loading with the option and shift key pressed, but after waiting about an hour for the process to proceed, when the photo library finally came on it was still blank squares. I haven't touched the photo library folder, but now seem to have two of them. I have an external hard drive, when I tried to load from the backup version it did the same thing. What's wrong? Help!

Welcome to Discussions.
Don't panic. When you did the rebuild iPhoto created a new iPhoto Library Folder, probably called iPhoto Library_1. You can move the newest one to the desktop. Leave the original where it is.
Most likely because of updates or installs you need to:
1. Restart your computer to repair the directory if needed.
2. Run "Repair Permissions" from Disk Utility located in your Applications>Utilties Folder.
Open the first aid window and select your internal hard drive: "Macintosh HD" - Repair Permissions
3. Try iPhoto again. If it doesn't work then QUIT iPhoto.
4. Your iPhoto preferences file may be corrupted.
(MAKE SURE you QUIT iPhoto first)
You will find it in your Home directory:
(Home/your account) >Library>Preferences>com.apple.iPhoto.plist
Remove or trash the preference (.plist file) and restart iPhoto.
If all this doesn't help you may be running into the hard drive free space issue. The OS needs a lot of free space on your disk to use temporarily for heavy lifting - like working with iPhoto.
How much space do you have?

IPhoto shows blank squares or the same thumbnail for each photo.

I am on iPhoto 11, 9.2.1 and work on Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8. My iPhoto has had a complete melt down. When you open it, it either shows blank squares where the photos are or it picks the last photo you look at at displays this for every single photo. If you click to enlarge the photo it will display the correct photo. When I close it everytime it shows that it is updating the library. I have tried shutting down my Mac hoping that it would reset itself. I have checked that it is up t date.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
You could also try reformat the Card with your camera

Open View Options for the folder in which the picture resides; the Desktop counts as a folder for this purpose.
In the View Options window, checkmark the item "Show icon preview".
Note that this setting is not global; it affects only the folder for which it is set.

Remove Red Circles with Square in middle

1: Connect your iDevice.
2: Navigate into your device and on to your Music tab. Uncheck Sync Music.
3: Check that all of your songs are being imported by going in to Music in the On This Phone tab.
The gray text songs represent that they have to be manually installed inside your device by pressing the iCloud button where the "red circle of death" used to be .

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
Go to 'Settings'
'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

The logos on some of my bookmarks are now blank squares witha dotted line around them

I updated Firefox and now the logos on some of my bookmarks and tabs are blank, dotted line squares.

If you go to the site, do they actually have a favicon, or did you create them in you bookmarks with the help of an extension because you didn't like non descriptive bookmark icons and folder icons.
Did you lose them in the bookmarks sidebar("Ctrl+B")
On the toolbar for the Bookmarks toolbar, I display only text and try to key most of them to 1-2 letters (or 1 non-letter character) for those that appear directly on the toolbar. Most are in folders there.

I had just answered this elsewhere 1/2 hour ago but couldn't find it.
The was another answer there that suggested to Restart Firefox, good but you had them for a long time so I hadn't mentioned it.
You basically have to use them again sometimes, but I've not seen them disappear. Since they are stored both as a bitmap and reference to the web page favicon it seems that they would not be deleted.
I don't really have total recall that I could remember exact working and retype consistently -- but I do have and extension to help me when this site drops what I typed if I go to another page using same tab and come back. I could have searched on content or title (or mess it up again trying and restore like I just did again for the second time).

IPhoto shows several blank squares in place of my pictures, how to fix it?

Recently ive been going through my pictures and im noticing that theres these blank grey squares in place of them. im really affraid that ive lost most of my pictures. Im not computer savy and i dont know exactly how i would resolve this issue. I didnt have any pictures backed up to anywhere, since i never thought that something like this would occur soo soon.Help!

Make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Lately when I do an images search only the first page actually shows the images- the rest show blank squares- why, and how do I fix it?

Over the last week I have noticed more and more that my searches do not show up properly. Today only the first page of images actually show, the rest are blank spaces, but if I click they go to the image site. The rollover does not show either.
What can cause this, and how do I fix it? I have tried various safe settings but this has no eefect at all.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Imported movie of hard disc not working. Blank square and when mousing over

I have imported about 150 gig of mp4 video into my iMovie event library and no problems until now. The mp4's are stored on my external hard drive (1000gig) and add up to around 105 gig in total. iMovie is also stored on this hard drive. When I import into my event library everything was fine but now I have hit a point where any more mp4's come up in the event library as a blank file, when I mouse over them a still shot comes up of another pre-imported video that has nothing to do with that video and the file plays sound but there is no footage. I still have 50 gig of footage to import before I can start editing my movie.
I still have 750 gig free space on my external drive and I am using a Macbook with 4 gig of memory and 48 gig of 119 still available on my Mac hard drive, is this the problem? Does anyone have any solutions ?

Thanks again Tom, I worked out your clue, being "whoa" as to meaning I shouldn't have moved iMovie onto my hard drive, I have moved it back to my Mac and everything seems to be working fine now, fingers crossed. I am really getting good at importing now, but don't think you'll be rid of me just yet as I have a lot of editing to start in the near future!

How to insert blank frames in middle of timeline?

As im really newbie and have a little problem.
I am making a picture slideshow and need to insert a new
picture in the middle of the slideshow, and then move the other
pictures.
Every picture is on their own layer.
How do I move the whole timeline with all the pictures, so I
can insert a new one on a new layer in the middle.
I tried click where I want to have the picture inserted and
then press the apple key (as im on a mac) and use the mouse to move
the timeline. But this only shorten the time of the picture
selected.

Create a new layer. Place your picture, as a symbol, on the
new layer. Then select all of the images you want to move forward.
Then slide them forward. (to the right) You should have the room
you need between the untouched layers and the newly moved layers to
extend the new layer with new picture.
