Blank video uploads to YouTube (bug?)

Hello -
I'm uploading my video to YouTube. It did it absolutely fine the first time, but then I noticed a bad edit so tweaked and re-uploaded.It uploaded a completely black video. Sound was fine, and the length remains correct; but twice it uploaded a blank video.
I quit and reopened FCPX, which fixed the problem.
Anyone else spotted this?

Yeah, so it's right after the initial compression within ReelDirector that the problem begins occuring. I've emailed the developer of this App and hopefully I will have a solution. I'm a little nervous considering I seem to be the only person on the internet with this problem, i can't find it anywhere else. :/

  • Why isn't my iMovie video uploading to YouTube

Why isn't my iMovie video uploading to YouTube?

Hi, it could be the video incompatible issue. You can try to convert your iMovie video to YouTube supported foramt using a video conversion program and then upload the converted video to YouTube.

  • Upgraded to Premiere Elements 11 from 9 - now video uploaded to Youtube won't play on iPad or iPhone

I just upgraded yesterday from Elements 9 to 11 (for Mac) -- and uploaded a "highlight video" from my daughter's Lacrosse match (just as I have done for the past several weeks) to Youtube.. When I try to view it on my iPad, it shows that the video cannot be played on the device.  I had no problems uploading from Elements 9 -- and 11 touts that the uploading process is "even easier"..
Any suggestions??  Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks!
    Kim

I appreciate what you are both saying -- but it is not the music that is the problem.  The video itself is NOT blocked - you can view it on a computer -- but when you try to view it on ipad/iphone the message says, "not available on this platform".  Here is a link to a video I did in Elements 9 on Tuesday:
    http://youtu.be/06TaM22SkdE
Here is the link to the video done last night in 11:

The "raw files" are both adobe flash.flv -- it's just not making sense...
    Thank you!!!

  • How can I fix a jerky video upload to YouTube?

We made a movie with iMovie4. Stringing several small clips into a 5 min video with music. It's saved as a MOV file. Playback is fine on the computer. After uploading it to YouTube the playback on the website is very jerky. Music is fine. I have searched the interwebs for help and haven't found anything that that is of much help yet.
    Thanks for any help.

Try different ways of saving the iMovie project.
Go to file / export / and try full Quality or Expert.
You also can try Share / Expert Setting.
The problem with youtube is you can not replace one video with another.
Have you tried looking at the video on another computer to see if the jerkiest is still there?

  • Rotated .mov on QT Pro, but video uploaded to youtube, still sideways

I recorded a short video with my camera resting sideways. I bought QT Pro to be able to rotate it. The video is rotated right-side-up when I watch it using QT on my computer, but when I upload the rotated video to you tube, it's still sideways. How do I fix that? Thanks.

You need to ask this on the Final Cut Studio forum

  • Mpeg, flv, merging, rendering, & uploading to youtube

my first video upload to youtube, made with a Canon 5D Mk II --  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI1sDaI0YgE (caution:  PG-13) -- was practically out-of-the-camera.
in my second video (made during the same photoshoot), i deleted the in-camera audio and dubbed in audio from a Zoom H4n (it's underneath the handkerchief, atop the couch and between the two models).
i also added a music soundtrack underneath the models' narration.  but, try as i might, i could not find a "merge" function in the drop-down menus or by right-clicking in various place on the timeline.
i converted the .prel file to an mpeg (which seemed to be the only conversion option), and its size is less than 1/2 GB.
but, because the mpeg seemed quite choppy in playback (and not knowing whether this was merely a problem with my playback software [Quicktime, Windows Media Player, IrfanView, etc]), instead of going to youtube's site and uploading the mpeg file, i used the Pre Elements 7 "export" function directly from the prel file.  this took only about 10 minutes.  however, the file (which youtube says is now .flv) has been "in processing" for the past 36 hours(!)
i'd like to doing a merge with the underlying prel file, and see if that helps.
    how do i do this?

Let's do a bit of background work first.
The .PREL file is but an XML database of the Project in PrE. It contains zero media. It only contains links to the media used, and instructions on what to do with it. That is all. It can only be used in PrE, or with a few exceptions, in PrPro. It can be opened in an XML, or word processing program, but all one can do in either is view, or edit those links and insturctions - nothing else.
Now, with that .PREL file open in PrE, and the media available and in the exact location that it was, when the Project was last saved, you CAN edit with it.
The output will be a media file, not as a .PREL (though you will want to save that, if work has been done, so you can come back to that Project later). The format of that output (either Export, or Share), will be of your choice, per your needs. It will likely be something like an .AVI, .MOV, .MPEG or FLV file, and can be played on an appropriate player. The Export/Share must be done, to get the Project into a "container," that can be used by other programs.
For your Canon 5D MK II, your files are in .MOV format, but with a few differences, compared to many .MOV files. There are several useful discussions on the Adobe Premiere CS4 forum, regarding those particular .MOV files. A search on "Canon 5D MK II," and variations, will yield about six, IIRC. They will be very informative.
Now, in PrPro (PrE's "big-brother") I've edited sample 5D MK II .MOV files, as a test for others. I have not tried with PrE, so do not know the limitations. However, Steve's rec. to convert outside of PrE is a good one. I do this for most non-DV-AVI Type II material. Note: with the exception of tests for others, I only edit SD material, so I do not work with all of the HD formats and CODEC's. QT Pro does a good job, when starting from .MOV and .MP4 formats, with many common CODEC's, that are used in those files. I use it as a conversion tool for much work. It is much more than just a "player."
As for the "merging" of the Audio, that is done by PrE. Basically, when you Export/Share, PrE downmixes all Audio to a single Master. In PrE, this WILL be a stereo downmix. The exact format/CODEC of that downmix will depend on the settings of your Export/Share. To get an idea of this, open up Window>Audio Mixer. You will see all of your Audio Tracks, and will also see the Master to the far-right of that Panel. That is your downmix. While there are other ways to adjust the Audio Tracks for that downmix to the Master, I use, and recommend that one use, the Audio Mixer for the final settings in the downmix to the Master. It allows for some automation (at a Track level) and also almost infinite control. I keep it open in all of my PrPro Projects, and would not be without it. Take a look at it, while you play, and you will see a visual representation of you downmix to the Master.
    Hope that this helps.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • FCE video upload forum

    Hi
Is there a FCE video upload discussion forum within the Apple website, where members can upload videos or post links to videos uploaded to youtube, myspace, etc? It would be nice to be able to view other peoples work done in FCE for inspiration or provide feedback if they want it or vice versa.
Or is something like that (video upload discussion forum) part of this discussion forum?
    Thanks

There is nothing like that provided by Apple. I asked nearly 4 years ago and there have been regular requests from other people.
The most that happens is that occasionally people post links to their videos on Vimeo, YouTube etc.
I agree that it would be nice to have a site dedicated to reasonably well edited videos from Final Cut and iMovie users as opposed to the likes of YouTube submissions which are probably 99% rubbish.

  • Why won't final cut pro x upload to youtube?

why wont my video upload to youtube via the share tab?
it goes nearly all the way then just stops, regardelss of if its in SD or HD.
any reason for this? is it because i have the trial version?

what looks like is happening is: FCPX uploads your video direct* to youtube, then it waits while youtube processes your video. Considering FCPX creates extremely high quality h.264 output for youtube (everything, actually), it can take youtube a relatively extraordinary amount of time to process the upload.
If you click on Share Monitor, then turn down the disclosure triangle on your Project ("folder") and click on the circled 'i' to the right of the exporting video, you'll see at the bottom of the pop-out XXXX Video Sharing.mov to YouTube  XX% complete (after FCPX hits the ~95% mark).   ...Progress is s...l...o...w...
From inspecting the log files, it looks like youtube and fcpx are communicating while youtube finishes processing your video. Testing a vid, I went to my youtube video manager page and sure enough, my upload was listed with a (processing...) on it. There is no graphic representation available of the stage of processing like the normal upload page gives.  [Even though YT was indicating that the upload was complete and it was processing - when I cancelled in FCPX (@95% / about 10percent processing on YT's side) - it killed the upload to YT.]
Whether or not an upload succeeds... well that's a whole other kettle of fish. I don't have the patience to wait it out. Besides, I know how to optimize videos for youtube, and FCPX direct is about...oh... 4 to 5 times overkill... in most cases.
*the first thing FCPX does is render the project out in H.264 format before uploading... It does not do that "on the fly".

    Hi All
I'm trying to upload a video to youtube from a screen video capture (rocksmith) but everytime I upload the whole video has been vertically shifter by approx. 20% leaving a black blank area at the bottom.  Any idea on how I sort this?

Have you read Cubicleslave2's recent thread on experiences with the Bandicam footage?
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1204417?tstart=0
What is your Premiere Elements 11 project preset? Are you or the program setting it?
Assuming that before you upload to YouTube from within Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Online/YouTube AND that your playback of your rendered Timeline looks OK, then I suspect here is the problem:
    a. You have 1280 x 720 (16:9) video and you are settling for YouTube Presets: = whatever is there, probably Flash Video for YouTube which is 640 x 480 4:3 @ 30 frames per second.
So first thing to try is to upload using Presets = High Definition Video for YouTube which represents 1920 x 1080 16:9.
If that does not work, we can explore another possibilities, including exporting the Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive and then uploading that at the YouTube web site, not from Premiere Elements 11 and its Publish+Share/Online/YouTube.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks.

  • I have the newest imovie as i got a macbook for christmas, i have made a video and want to upload it to youtube and it is a quicktime file, but yet it is still taking ages to upload and youtube says if i change the format it will take less time, help?

I need help for how to upload a video on youtube when it is a quicktime file but how i change it to a streamable format in order for it to not take as long to upload, how do i do this?

I have the same issue.  If you are exporting from iMovie version 10.0.1, I run into the same issues if I export directly to YouTube or if I export to file then upload to YouTube.
Google's help file doesn't properly address this problem and thier help is also out of date.  In talking to a support rep at Apple, they said the export to YouTube should just work or the exporting to a file then uploading otherwise it's an issue for Google support.
If someone can post a solution that works (is a streamable format - which is different than the format that YouTube accepts as it will accept many formats but take a long time to process them), I'd be interested to hear also.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

  • How to edit JVC/Panasonic/Canon .mod video in Windows Movie Maker then upload to YouTube for sharing

    Quick View:
Part 1: How to import .mod video to Windows Movie Maker
Part 2: How to edit the video with Windows Movie Maker
Part 3: How to upload your video to YouTube
    Know More:
    1. Which Camcorders record video in .MOD type?
    2. What file types are supported by Windows Movie Maker?
    3. What file types are supported by YouTube?
Part 1: How to import .mod video to Windows Movie Maker
    Step 1: Load files
First copy the MOD file from your video camera to your hard drive, then download, install and run MOD Converter, click the "Add Files" button to browse your computer hard disc and load the MOD/TOD video files you want to convert to the program.
    Step 2: Output Setting
In the bottom of the main interface, select an output format supported by Windows Movie Maker for each video file and specify a directory on your computer to save the output files.
    Step 3: Start convert
Click "Start" button on right bottom of the main interface, you are allowed to start conversion.
Step 4: Import converted video to Windows Movie Maker
Click on "File". Then click on "Import". A window will appear. In the window, navigate to the video clip you converted just now. Then double click on the file. You'll see the icon for the file in your Windows Movie Maker "Collections".
Part 2: How to edit the video with Windows Movie Maker
Step 1: Add transitions and special effects
In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click View video transitions.
Preview transitions by double-clicking them and watching the Preview Monitor. Once you've found a transition you like, drag it from the Video Transitions pane, under Edit Movie pane to the box between two of your clips. This inserts the transition between the two clips.
Step 2: Add titles and credits
If you want to add a title before, after, or on top of a clip, click the clip on the storyboard or timeline.
In the Movie Tasks pane, under Edit Movie, click Make titles or credits.
    Step 3: Add Music
In the Movie Tasks pane in Movie Maker, under Capture Video, click Import audio or music.
In the Import File dialog box, click the name of the song you want to use in the background. Then click Import. This adds your song to your collection but does not add it to your video. Drag the song from the collection to the video clip where you want the music to start playing.
    Step 4: Add narration
If you have a desktop computer, connect a microphone. Microphones are available from most electronics stores. If you have a portable computer, you can use the built-in microphone. However, you will get a better-quality recording if you connect an external microphone. In Movie Maker, click the Tools menu, and then click Narrate Timeline. On the timeline, click the clip you want to narrate. You can narrate clips one at a time, or you can narrate the entire movie all at once. If you narrate individual clips, you can rearrange them later and keep your narration synchronized. If the narration is too loud or too soft in comparison to the movie, right-click the narration on your timeline, and then click Volume.
Step 5: To save your movie to your computer
In the Movie Tasks pane, under Finish Movie, click Save to my computer.
The Save Movie Wizard appears. On the Save Movie File page, type a name for your movie. You can also choose a folder to save it in by clicking the Browse button, but My Videos (the default) is usually the best place to save your movie. Then click Next. On the Movie Setting page, click Next to accept the default setting of Best quality for playback on my computer.
Movie Maker saves your movie, which might take several minutes. On the Completing the Save Movie Wizard page, click Finish. If Play movie when I click Finish was selected (it is selected by default), the movie will automatically play in Windows Media Player. Now you can watch your videos anytime by opening your My Videos folder and double-clicking your movie.
Part 3: How to upload my video to YouTube
A video file should meet the following requirements so that it can be uploaded to YouTube site.
    1. In an acceptable format: WMV, MPEG4, MOV, AVI and MPEG.
    2. Video length is shorter 10 minutes.
    3. File size is smaller than 1GB.
Step 1: Sign up a YouTube account or Gmail account, then click the Upload button on any YouTube web page. See the figure below:
Step 2: Type in the information of your video file, including Title, Description, Category and tags. To increase the chances that your video can be easily found, you should put as much information as possible.
Step 3: Set this video to be public or private.
Step 4: Click the "Upload a video" button. When you see the next window, click the "Browse" button to select the video file you want to upload. Then click the "Upload Video" button to upload it. After the upload is finished, you will see the completion page. See the figure below:
Step 5: Click "My Videos" and you will see the video.
    Know More:
    1. Which Camcorders record video in .MOD type?
MOD is the video file type used on many digital camcorders, such as the JVC Everio, the Canon FS100 and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. Accompanying the MOD video file, there exists MOI file that stands for the index file for MOD.
    2. What file types are supported by Windows Movie Maker?
You can import files with the following file name extensions into Windows Movie Maker to use in your project:
Video files: .avi, .wmv, .mpeg, .mpg., .asf, m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, , .mpv2, and .wm.
Audio files: .mp3, .wav, wma, .mp2, .aiff, .aif, .aifc,.asf, .au,.mpa, and .snd.
Picture files:.jpeg, .jpg, .jpe, .png, .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif,.tif, .tiff, and .wmf
    3. What file types are supported by YouTube?
YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats. The video files below are all accepted by YouTube. Some video formats work best and are most compatible with certain computers, software or devices. Windows Media Video (.WMV)
    .3GP (cell phones)
    .AVI (windows)
    .MOV (mac)
    .MP4 (ipod/psp)
    .MPEG
    .FLV (adobe flash)
    .SWF (shockwave flash)v

  • Uploading a Youtube video to Adobe Premier Elements 11

How do I upload a Youtube video to Adobe Premeire Elements 11 so I can edit it?

    popto
It sounds like a download rather than an upload from YouTube that you are asking about. Please read on.
Are you asking how to get the video that is currently displaying on YouTube onto your computer and into Premiere Elements 11 for you to edit and export as you want - YouTube again or otherwise?
If so, the important question is "Is that video yours or someone else's?"
If it is someone else's then see the YouTube licensing agree which I believe does not allow for that without its approval and consent.
If it is your video, did you delete or lose the original that you uploaded to YouTube in the first place? If you have that project saved, there is no reason why you cannot just edite that Timeline and upload the edited version to YouTube. At YouTube web site you can leave the original there or delete it once the edited version of it is uploaded there.
    Please supply more details.
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements running on?
    Thanks.

  • Can't import MPEG4//video blackout in YouTube upload?

    Two issues:
    1) I can't import a QT/MPEG4 .mov file to work on as an event. Ideas? It's 4.3 GB...
    2) Have a 1:30 video finished in iMovie, looks great in preview... but when uploaded to YouTube account, all video is gone; audio is fine, and intro and outro title cards on black are fine. Only the footage in between is a black screen, as the audio plays underneath it. Tried uploading again twice. Am I missing something?
    thanks,
    Larry

    DV is simply "digital video"?
It might be more appropriate to consider it the standard for NTSC/PAL compression/recording for the last decade. Almost every frame level editor will accept and edit it -- including all versions of iMovie, FCE, FCP, and most pro/semi-pro third-party software editors as well. Most DACs (Digital-Analog Converters) for editing convert to DV owing to its universal acceptance.
The Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) is normally used as an intermediate editing compression format for HD content (HDV or AVCHD). I also like to use it for SD content since it is about 22-29% more efficient than DV25 and thus saves a bit of space without much loss in quality.
Can't find anything on your Miglia card (site is currently down for routine maint.) let alone the various compression formats and their stats for capture/storage so I won't try to second guess anything further here. If you don't have QT Pro, would recommend you download MPEG Stremclip (free). Use it to "trim" a snippet from your long "problem" movie, and save it as a separate file. Then try to import the snippet. If it imports then you have a "workaround" and can look into why later. If it doesn't import, try a conversion to any of the acceptable iMovie '08 audio and video compression formats and see if that will import. Once again, you are looking for an immediate "workaround" which will later help identify a specific problem.
Also, while searching, I thought I noted a reference to a "fallback" M-JPEG compression format (again no audio format given). Have you tried it? Also, are you still using Tiger as indicated?
Meanwhile, nothing I check for either Properties in QT (no Pro) or Finder Get Info is just "MPEG-4." If you can explain it on "my" level, is there another layer or corner to look in?
If you don't have QT Pro, you can't access the "Properties" window. You can, however, access the "Inspector" window. What you need to check are the "Format:" entry lines. This should give compression formats for both audio (codec, channels, and sampling rate) and video (codec, encoded dimensions, and color depth). This is where you should start any time a clip does not import correctly.
The Miglia conversion got me a zillion rare & noncommercial & aircheck VHS tapes converted for iDVD burning; seemed like it would continue to be useful as it has.
The unit may still be useful for the purpose of digitizing. The problem here is that the requirements for import have increased one level from merely being "conversion" compatible with iMovie HD to being "edit" compatible for import to iMovie '08. Obviously, any file that plays as is can be re-compressed to to any of the acceptable iMovie '08 compression format. But that means more time lost. In fact, you could always run that long file through MPEG Streamclip to convert it to a DV or Widescreen DV files and it will even properly set the anamorphic flag which iMovie '08 also now requires proper preview during editing and to set the output aspect ratio. (Another change to iMovie.)

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.
