Blank Video

I'll start by saying I'm at work and I'm not sure of the specs of my PC nor the version of Premier Elements 11 I'm using. I did just get Elements/Photoshop in a bundle for my birthday last month, if that helps. Sorry about that.  But I think my question won't requre that info.
I edited some video last night - I took a clip from a video (GoPro) I shot, sped it up and inserted it in the editing timeline.  It played fine.  Once I had all the elements lined up (opening video segment, soundtrack, the edited video in question and a still image) I rendered it and the recently edited video went black.  I tried EVERYthing I could think of and nothing worked.  Very frustrating - but hopefully a simple answer.  (I am a VERY new user.)  Thanks!!

  • Can't create blank video layer in photoshop CS

Why can't I create a blank video layer in photoshop CS? (Mac)

yes i just did. no change in menus.
and yeah creating new normal layers does create blank video layers but the keyframe animation doesn't work. i have to position the layers one after the other so it looks like something animated, it's ridiculous.
sorry for posting three pictures but here i hope this clarifies things a little

  • Blank video uploads to YouTube (bug?)

    Hello -
I'm uploading my video to YouTube. It did it absolutely fine the first time, but then I noticed a bad edit so tweaked and re-uploaded.It uploaded a completely black video. Sound was fine, and the length remains correct; but twice it uploaded a blank video.
I quit and reopened FCPX, which fixed the problem.
    Anyone else spotted this?

Yeah, so it's right after the initial compression within ReelDirector that the problem begins occuring. I've emailed the developer of this App and hopefully I will have a solution. I'm a little nervous considering I seem to be the only person on the internet with this problem, i can't find it anywhere else. :/

  • H.264 export blank video

Using Quicktime or FCP to export h.264 results in blank video, audio ok. New problem. Tried reinstalling quicktime 7. No luck.
    Any ideas?

    Any ideas?
If by "blank" you are referring to a "black" video display with good audio, check the video data rate of the exported file. If very low, the problem may be associate with attempts to limit the video data rate below the minimum needed for the complexity, size, and/or profile you are using for the particular content. Also, not sure if FCP is now plagued with such problems but iMovie '08/'09 produces a "black" display with certain source video codecs--primarily Animation.

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. This is something recommended by YouTube for those having problems - http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?&answer=1209379

  • Blank video and green screen back again when I post video on Facebook

It doesn't offer that option. I have Windows 8.1 and this is the second time this happened. Support told me to go to tools, internet options and change Use software rendering instead rendering of GPU rendering. It worked. Now however, the setting is still the same and the video
is blank and green on Facebook.

  • Blank video on QT PRO export

I inputed a mpeg 4 file into QT pro 7. It plays fine. I then exported it into mov and DV format. The files played the audio fine but the video was blank. What is going wrong? How do I fix this?

I have a feeling your MPEG-4 made by Pinnacle uses the Windows implementation of that format. Windows versions of MPEG-4 use a different codec (a Microsoft variant) that does not follow the "rules" of the MPEG organization. It (the codec) is similar to the DivX, Xvid and 3ivX codecs that also don't play by industry standard "rules". QuickTime does.
Because your file plays in QuickTime but doesn't "convert" I suspect you've got one of those other codecs allowing QuickTime playback. The trouble is with the export as the "real" codec can't be used.
Ideally you would want the commercial vendor to export from your source in DV Stream format. They can fit a bit under 20 minutes onto DVD's because the file size is so large. You could then use those files in iMovie for editing and export to iDVD for burning.

  • QuickTime Player's H.263 capabilities and "white"/"blank" video

    Hi All,
I recently recorded a set of 3GP files, all of which have H.263 video tracks and AMR-NB audio tracks.
    - When I play these files with Quicktime Player, I see "white" (or maybe "blank" is a better term) video.
    - When I extracted the video track from these 3GP files as a raw H.263 bitstream, and decoded it with TMN 3.2.0 H.263 decoder, the decoding proceeded without a problem, and when I played the YCbCr file created by the TMN 3.2.0 H.263 decoder, the video looked absolutely fine.
    - When I play these 3GP files with another media player (VLC), the video looks fine.
My question is - what are the limits on H.263 content that can be handled by Quicktime player (in terms of profiles, levels, annexes of the H.263 standard)? I am extremely surprised to see that bitstreams which can decoded even by the TMN decoder, which is very old, buggy and restricted in implementation, Quicktime Player could not handle.
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

2:20:02:01 is a big file, just how big is it?
Anyhoo.. try open in MPEG Streamclip and using the file, export to MPEG-4 and an iTunes preset, iPhone specifically, and see what happens. You can select just a minute of the clip with setting the I/O points and CMD+C to copy, CMD+N open a new player and CMD+V to paste , save that and test with it as it takes of course 1/2:20:00:01 of the amount of time.
    MPEG Streamclip is free.
Also from a QT point of view what happens if you copy say 1 minute or 5 minutes, paste into a new player and then export that in QT?
I think this file may be too large, just off the top of my head.

  • Want to create a 10 minute "blank" video, can do with QT Pro?

    Hello-
I'd like to create a 10 minute blank (black background, no audio) video that I can use as a title backdrop video in iMovie 08. Someone suggested QT Pro is able to do this. Is this correct? Thank you for your feedback!

I can make a 10 minute "video" (no audio) that would be only 20KB's using QuickTime Pro.
Create an all black image file (sized to your dimensions used in your project). It could be as small as a 2X2 pixel JPEG file but you would have to adjust those dimensions after import. that would be just a few bytes of data.
Open this new image file using QuickTime Pro, select all and "copy".
Find (trim if needed) a 10 minute video (using the appropriate frame rate for your project), select all and then use "Add to Selection & Scale" from the edit menu.
Open the Movie Properties window of this new file, highlight your tiny all black video track and "Extract".
Save As to make your self contained 10 minute all black video track.

  • 10.6, new quicktime and blank video

I have a Samsung SC-MX20 digital video camera, in records h.264 format files. Worked fine in quicktime 7 (and still works fine with version 7 after install of 10.6) but when I play the files out of the camera in the new 10.6 quicktime player, the video is blank, have a black screen. Audio works but no picture.
    Why would this be?
    Thanks
    Rick

Ok, just tried on my imac, 10.6.2 (same as my macbook) and the mp4 videos play fine in the quicktime 10.0 player but don't play on my macbook.
    Anyone?

  • FCP5 QT7 files blank video

    Hi folks,
My captured FCP5 HDV files play fine in FCP on my edit system (Dual-processor tower w/ OSX 10.4.5).
But when I want to open them from my hard drive on my own Intel iMac OSX.4.6. in QT7 (for viewing, logging etc.), the audio plays fine, but video is blank. I've re-installed QT7, to no avail.
    Thx for any tips

it may be that FCP's ability to playback HDV in Quicktime is because it installs a quicktime component to add this capability
... look in your /Library/Quicktime folder. do you see "AppleHDVCodec.component" ? if not, try copying it from your edit system to your iMac and then see if you can view your HDV clips
i can't guarantee it will work as there might be a PPC/Intel codebase issue, but its certainly worth a try
    hope it helps
    Andy

  • Blank videos showing in iPhoto app

I have an iPhone 5S iOS version 8.3, and I noticed when trying to sync my videos to my MacBook Air that it was giving me an error message. It couldn't upload due to a problem with the files. When I looked closer, I saw there were a bunch of videos between a certain date range that were showing as blank. See picture. I've reset the phone, and this problem existed prior to my version upgrade. When I try to play the videos, it looks like they're playing because the play button changes to a pause button. There is no sound or duration lapsing and the screen goes black. I've found one similar discussion thread in a different forum but I don't see a resolution there. Can anyone help? Not only do I want to try to save these videos if I can, I want to make sure there's not an issue with my phone that will damage more files.

What has changed on your Mac since you were last able to view videos in iPhoto? Any updates or upgrades installed? What system and iPhoto versions are you currently using? Are these videos that were imported from your iPhone into iPhoto by iPhoto?

  • Front Row - Lid Closed - Blank Videos (but with audio)

I hooked my computer up to my TV last night to watch some videos through front row (stupid quicktime and the pro lockout on full screen - talk about penny pinching from Apple!). Front row worked fine if I set it up so that the TV mirrored my laptop display. However, if I tried to run the laptop in lid closed mode with the TV as my main/only monitor everything would work except for the videos. They would be black while retaining the audio. For example, the little preview movies shown in the selection menu were black as was the movie when you played it.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix? (Obviously I can run it more or less similarly with mirroring and my main screen dimmed as I did.)

i'm having the same issue. The video i tried was purchased from the iTunes music store. i see no preview of the video and no video is played on screen however audio is present. the same problem also occurs when trying to watch a movie trailer via movie trailer front row interface. All Front Row graphics are seen, only video is a problem. I can open and play back the video without problems in Quicktime Pro. (fullscreen)
The video output is 1280x720 sent to a samsung tv using a built in profile with overscan disabled.

  • Blank Video to .Mac using Flip Video AVI

Imported video clips from my flip video camera just fine. Manipulated the clips in iMovie. But when I published it to .mac all you can see are the transitions and opening text. You can can the song I put in the background and I think you can hear the sound from the video, but no video images can be seen. Any ideas?

Imported video clips from my flip video camera just fine. Manipulated the clips in iMovie. But when I published it to .mac all you can see are the transitions and opening text.
Video content that imports to iMovie '08/edits in a normal fashion but exports as a "screen" is normally in the Apple Animation (or Apple Video) compression format. Check the QT Player "Inspector" window with the clip loaded to determine the actual format in your case. The is a well known "bug" that has been present since iMovie '08 was initially released. The solution to the problem is to convert the video to one of the fully compatible compression formats -- e.g., DV, AIC, M_JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264.
How can I export to show at a conference from a PC?
By ensuring your source file is in an iMovie '08 fully compatible compression format.
    Can support post a reply?
These forums are, for the most part, just user-to-user. Apple does not officially monitor or make responses here.

  • Blank video thumbnails in iphoto just started appearing!

Importing videos from both iphone 4 and 4s fine until 14th December, but any imported since have black thumbnails. Videos work fine and show up as thumbnails on phones. Help please.

    Thanks for the quick reply!
I triple checked a handful of the video files and they aren't exhibiting black at the start.
    How I checked:
    - Select black video thumbnail image
    - Press space bar (to "zoom" and begin playing video"
    - Stop video playback at approx. five seconds in (video counter reads 00:00:05)
    - Rewind "playhead" to very start of video so that the counter reads 00:00:00 and there is definately an image / content being displayed (e.g. is not black)
See attached screen shot with playhead at 00:00:00

  • Blank Video When Posting to .Mac or Exporting to Quicktime

I'm using AVI from a Flip Video camcorder. The video imports fine to iMovie and I can edit it. However when I try to send it to .mac or export it to quicktime the video doesn't show up. The opening credits, the music I added, and even the sound from the video can be heard. Also you can see the flashes for the fade through white transition, but the video screen is black otherwise. Am I doing something simple wrong? Is there something wrong with the source video? I've reinstalled iMovie. Help.

Am I doing something simple wrong? Is there something wrong with the source video?
If the source video compression format is either Apple Animation or Apple Video, then it is normal and yes, there is something wrong with the source video. Basically, this is a bug dating back to the original release of the application. For some reasone, both of these two compression formats will import and edit normally but edit with a "black" display and a total data rate little more than that required for the audio. Which is the cause and which is the effect has yet to be determined. Simplest solution is to convert your files to another compression format (like DV, AIC, M-JPEG, PHOTO JPEG, MPEG-4 or H.264) before import. Unfortunately, you will then have to re-import and re-edit the entire project.
