Blank white "full screen"

Since I installed the latest version of Shockwave, I've lost the "full screen" ability.  When I try to go to full screen, all I get is a blank white screen.  Can anyone suggest a fix for this?
Many thanks!

Hi Folks, As soon as I let Adobe install v. 10.1, on my computer I experienced a WSOD, (white screen of death) whenever I try to switch to fullscreen,
no matter if its in YOUTUBE, or any service that allows full screen viewing.. For one, HULU insists on installation of Adobe 10.1. and of course,
if you haven't set a restore point, don't think about fullscreen video until you restore your puter to before you installed 10.1..And, even after you do, forget using HULU.. I have tried everything I know to make 10.1 work here, it just refuses to work (in Fullscreen)   OK, for the folks at ADOBE here is My Modest Computer Specs> 1 GIG Intel Pentium III Processor.. 640 Megs RAM, NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 Video card, OS> XP PRO SP2.. SYS MFG, VIA System Model VT82C694X, BIOS, Phoenix LTD 6.00 PG AND, I have noted it has a SOYO Mainboard.. I was pretty torqued that this puter worked just fine until the 10.1 update, and I was smart enuff to GHOST the HDD a few month back, and what it took to blast the 10.1 turds out was a full system reinstall! Of course, not being an engineer, this was my only option after unstalling everything I could to try and remove the leftover "turds" but, they wouldn't go away! Sheesh I hope Adobe gets this fixed sooner than later!  Best Luck Folks!!  [email protected]

  • I have a mac air and it says my star up disk is full, now when I log in it just has a blank white lit screen and I cannot go further

After logging in, theres just a blank white backlit screen and I cannot go further. It also has been showing on the screen
that the startup disk is full.  I already tried diagnostics and it says hardware is fine.

You will have to erase your drive because it has a corrupted directory resulting from allowing the drive to become full.
Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Dropped 5th gen  blank white backlit screen with crack on inner screen

Please can anyone help. Is it worth just getting the screen repaired or will i still encounter any problems as the ipod no longer connects properly to the computer. And i cannot get anything to work, it just displays a blank white screen until the battery runs out.
It was only a 2 ft drop onto carpet. Not a scratch/dent visible.

Have you tried doing a reset on it yet?
Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15-30 seconds or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.

  • Could Widget Composition Blank be full screen?

    Hello,
I'd like to use a full screen slide show on my homepage, and also put a tooltip to show some information on the photo. So I use a composition blank so that I can put tooltip into it. But I just have no idea how to drag the image to full screen.....Is there any way to do that?

At present only the Slideshow widget supports a full screen mode. It would be non-trivial to create a full screen Composition widget given a Composition widget can contain almost anything and some things can be scaled while others cannot, but I understand what you'd like to achieve.

  • Blank white bootcamp screen

I am a new iMac owner and am really enjoying Leopard on my 24" iMac. I used Bootcamp assistant to create a windows partition for xp. When I reboot holding the option key with an external usb hard drive and external usb dvd burner attached, a blank white screen is displayed. I disconnected all external non apple usb devices, installed xp and rebooted. I can boot either Leopard or XP as long as I do not reconnect the usb drives. If the hd or burner are connected, I see the Windows and OS X operating system choices but the computer freezes after clicking enter and neither system will boot. I have removed the bootcamp partition and the system will boot quickly into Leopard will all external firewire and usb devices attached. Any help will be appreciated.

You obviously already know this, but when you use the "Option" key the system looks for ALL bootable drives be they CD or HD. I've never heard of OS X getting stuck doing this if in fact you have drives connected that are not bootable, but who knows. You might feel like this is too much of a pain, but why don't you just leave them disconnected till you get past the boot sequence, then connect them? Just a thought! Oh, and I have also read in the forums somewhere that OS X don't like USB boot drives very well, and that it's better to have Firewire ones.

  • Locked on BLANK WHITE BRIGHT SCREEN. Brand Spankin' New iPod Video 30gb

    Hi all,
I JUST opened my new iPod Video 30gb. When I hooked it up to sync and charge, its icon appeared in iTunes for just a second then disappeared. Then it locked on "do not remove" so I did a reset. Then I put in on the dock again and the same thing happened, it popped up in iTunes and my desktop for just a second then disappeared. So, I tried to reset it again. But now it will NOT reset. It is locked on a bright white blank screen. Any attempts at resetting and the iPod gives a weird chime and continues its blank bright screen. Now it will not do anything. It won't show up in iTunes, it won't show up on my Mac, it won't respond to ANY buttons on the click wheel or anywhere.
Geez, I just opened the freakin' box! And of course I can't find ANY phone numbers to get a quick answer from Apple. I've been with apple since 1984 and this is really intolerable.
    PLEASE HELP!
Oh yeah, and i CANNOT restore because it can't link to my MAC

Judging by the info on your post, you're in the US. Apple's tech support number is 1-800-APL-CARE. They're open 9-9 Eastern time.
    For the issue you're experiencing:
Hold down menu & select until you hear the beeping.
As soon as it beeps, hold down select and play/pause for about 10 seconds or so (it may or may not beep again).
See if you can restore it now.
If not, call Apple for tech support.
    Hope this helps

  • Blank white ipod screen on 5G

Today, my iPod was working just fine until I encountered the dreaded white screen of death. I had firmware 1.2.2 on my 5G iPod. Resetting my iPod does no good because I just get a white screen again. No music plays through either. My computer can +kind of+ detect my iPod. But with iTunes, its more of a hit-or-miss try. I tried restoring it on one of my older comptuers, but it said resources cannot be found. On this newer computer I'm using, it first directed me to a 1.2.1 downgrade for my iPod video, but iTunes once again froze on me, making me miss the installation. I had iTunes detect it a few times again saying its corrupt; but now its trying to make me install a 1.5 update for an iPod with a scroll-wheel. Can anyone help me with this?

    No one ever posted.

  • Blank white message screen?

Does anybody know how to fix a blank message screen on my daughters ipod touch 4?

Next try the remaining actions of:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Macbook won't start up, white/grey screen appears folder and question mark.

My macbook was freezing up, so i pressed the power button to shut it down and it won't restart. It just goes to the blank white/grey screen and a picture of a folder with a question mark on it shows up. What should I do?

I am going to try and explain this.
When you purchase a Mac, that machine comes with a license to run the current Mac OS at the time of purchase. The license resides with the computer, not with the installation media. Therefore, if I purchased 3 iMacs, at the exact same time, and they were the same model, I could use the install media from one on any of the other machines (and don't tell me it won't work, because I have done it before). This does not violate the EULA. Do you really think that a company that purchases hundreds or even thousands of computers would keep the install media for each one? The media is not tied to the computer; it's the license for OS X that is bound to the computer. Consider when you purchase a family pack of Mac OS X, you don't get 5 discs, you get 5 licenses, and one disc.
What the EULA is stating, is that you cannot have one license running or installed on two computers. It does not say that you cannot use the same install media on different computers (assuming you have the proper number of licenses). You are also wrong in saying that you can uninstall Mac OS X from one Mac, and then use its restore discs on another computer legally. That is only legal for "Retail" copies of OS X. I believe the restore discs are the equivalent to an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer in the PC world of computing) version of OS X. I am almost positive they are non transferable.

  • After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans at full speed.

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen on 2nd? page of boot. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans run at full speed, machine boots then runs normal except the dvdrw will not . The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.
Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Monitor is blank white when trying to view full screen youtube video.

    ''locking as a duplicate - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/783757''
I have an HP w2207h widescreen flat-panel Monitor. When I try to view videos ONLINE, such as YouTube, in full screen mode, the screen goes to a blank white screen. Audio works, no picture. However, when I view the same YouTube video in Internet Explorer everything works fine. Is there a setting I need to put in to fix this? Would appreciate your help!

Try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

  • When I open safari I get a blank white screen.

When I open safari I get a blank white screen. When I open top sites, and choose google, the screen is still blank, with the search bar at the top a quarter full. If it does open, it suddenly becomes unresponsive and returns to that blank, white screen. I'v tried everything I can think of, but nothing works.
On a side note, everything from mail to iphoto to word works - just not safari. I'm using a mid-11 iMac 21.5"i5 running on mountain lion.
Also did I post this in the right place? I'm new to this.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
     ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have problems, continue.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
Quit Safari again. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. If there's a subfolder with the name "com.apple.Safari", delete it, even if it's empty. Quit Terminal. Close the folder. Launch Safari and test.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
    Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
    Internet Plug-Ins
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
    PubSub/Database
    Safari
(Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
    File ▹ Import Bookmarks
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • Updated to Firefox 9, now it gives me a blank white screen. What's going on ?

I upgraded to Firefox 9. When backup was done it gave me a blank white screen with tool bar at the top. I thought maybe it needed "backing up your info" so I did that, still no Firefox screen. I rebooted the computer, still no screen. I can go to "Most Visited" and select Firefox, and it will go back to old Firefox screen that says I don't have the latest update. What's going on ?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I have v. 3.6.8. It will display blank white pages at some site and not at others. I use safe mode and the access is reversed... what used to open doesn't and what didn't does. . .
Is anyone trying to fix this problem - or are users just left to chasing their tails on this issue?
Just curious ... in order to help me decide to wait for help or move on to something else...
Until that time ... Earl J.
