Blank White Template Installer

My Blank White template is now packaged in an installer. You can download it here:
http://downloads.11mystics.com/BlankWhite20060405.pkg.zip
This is a Tiger only installer so far as I'm aware. I think Will was going to test it on Panther, but no guarantees. For Tiger installs, this will place all six page templates in their appropriate folders and it will also copy the installers to a back-up location here /Applications/11 Mystics/Templates/Blank White/
This is our new installer and we've tested it pretty extensively with PLIST files that have been altered in many ways. However, as with all new software, there might be weird situations just waiting to show themselves, particularly if you've formatted your plist file ins some bizarre way. Hopefully Cyclosaurus has accounted for all of us goof balls who do that
Please contact me asap if you run into any trouble.
I will package all my other templates later tonight so you can get those too.
Suz

Cool - I am envious that you Europeans have so much diverse culture just miles around you. I suppose you could say that about many cities in the US, but not mine LOL I keep trying to wake up each morning with the ability to speak every language, but it's not working heh.

  • The Blank White Template is Ready!

Well I suppose this is long overdue, but better late than never.
    http://web.mac.com/sboben/iWeb/BlankWhite/
This is a demo site of the Blank White template that I just completed. I packed this version full of detail and I hope you like the overall look and feel. I have detailed notes in my blog if you really want ALL the details, but here are some highlights:
    1. 3/6 pages can be entirely cleared of stuff
    2. One of the pages has no navigation menu, the other five do
    3. The Modern About Me page layout was included in this package!
    4. Smaller body text size, navigation link size
    5. Aqua blue hyperlinks
    6. Space after setting so you don't have to manually space paragraphs
    7. Totally refined blog and podcast font styles
The download, for now, is still a manual process. You have to install it yourself, but I'm workin on an installer now so you won't have to do that going forward. Watch for that later. The download site is temporary, but you'll be able to get the files at the new location when it's ready.
    Enjoy!

Let me know if you find any snafus Ken - all the manual work that goes into these things leaves many doorways for things that make you go, "Ooops!"

  • Vote Here:  Link Color for Blank White Template

Okay I'll have the Blank White template ready tonight and I'll let you guys decide what the navigation bar styles and hyper link colors should be.
Right now they're a beautiful Aqua color: #0080FF or 0,128,255
For this template, I think I'll make a bunch of variations so if half of you want blue links and half want black with underlines (or whatever) I'll make them both.
Please specify as much detail as you want, i.e.
Nav bar default: size 11, color #777, verdana, bold
Nav bar selected: size 11, color #000, times, normal
Nav bar hover: etc, etc etc
    Hyperlink normal:
    Hyperlink hover:
    Hyperlink visited:
    Body text:
    Titles/Headings:
    that covers the basics...
I will be unlocking the entire template where it makes sense so that you can delete any object. This excludes the required fields for the blog and podcast obviously because those won't work if you delete the fields
Don't worry if you don't see this for three days. I'll watch the thread regardless and make versions based on common preferences.

Given that the white template is just that, and while Aqua is a really nice colour, I think I'd be suggesting that users of the white template will get maximum compatibility with the design elements they may add to it if the treatment of hyperlinks etc is kept to "standard" colors and texts as much as is possible.
Boring ... yes, but maximim design integration.
I am also not sure I'd be mixing a sans serif typestyle with a serifed typed style in the one template as well (Verdana and Times) - try to keep all typestyles either sans serif or serifed.
Given yours and Cyclosaurus skils I would have thought that the two of you would team up and develop an iWeb specific template editing tool that any idiot, like me, could use to modify a template to our own needs / desires / wants - rather than you writing templates yourself.
Just a thought at not worth more than $0.00000002c.

I tried to install yosemite yesterday and my computer goes through the whole installation process and then to a blank white screen.  I've rebooted, I've reinstalled several times and get the same result.  Two days wasted and I can't use my computer!!

I don't know if you've already resolved your problem, but I had the same thing, it took me 6 hours to fix it. I had the exact same as you, installed the update and then it went to a white screen. After trying start up holding down cmmd r or holding down the alt key to try to install it again, nothing worked, same result every time. Then an angel came to me here somewhere but I can't find it now to thank him. Start in safe mode, press shift once you hear the start up chime and hold it down until you hear it again. Installation completion box came up and it was working. turn off computer and start up again normally and all is well. Except my final cut pro x doesn't work with it, have to update that now too. same as when I updated to mavericks.
    Hope this helps.

David.  Thank you very much.   The problem was not with the canvas but rather the Viewer.  But the solution was the same.  Somehow, the Viewer window was re-set to Alpha.  I changed it back to RGB.... and the picture is back.   These issues are often very simple.... but they can drive you bats if you don't know the answer.   Very grateful.  Tim

  • Creative Cloud Mac panel blank white

    Hi
I just migrated to my new Mac, so signed out of CC on the old one, used migration assistant and booted the new mac.
Upon load I got a message to tell me that CC was corrupted and I had to reinstall. So I tried, downloaded the install .dmg and started the process. It fell over, saying CC was corrupted and I had to re-install.
So I tried uninstalling CC and trying again. It installed, but CC's window was blank white - I could do nothing.
Uninstalled again, used CC Clean Up Utility. Reinstalled, blank white screen.
I read on line about renaming opm.db - did that, same problem.
I can't find any other solutions online - can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Tim

For the benefit of anyone finding this thread in the future, I used adobe's online chat system to resolve this with the help of a very helpful operator.
What resolved it was the following steps:
    1. Quit CC
    2. Go to the user's library, Application Support/Adobe/OOBE. Delete OPM.db and rename OOBE folder OOBE_old
    2. Go to the main system library in the root of the drive. Rename AdobeApplicationManager and OOBE folders
    3. Go to the Applications/Utilities folder and delete the Adobe Application Manager and Creative Cloud folders from there.
    4. Run adobe CC Cleaner to see if anything remains - in my case it didn't, so I didn't clean anything here.
    5. Download the installer for Adobe application Manager from adobe and run it.
    6. Download and run the CC Installer.
This cured the white screen, I had a login screen as usual and could login and then install my applications.
The moral of the story is don't rely on a Time Machine backup for migrating CC onto a new machine. Sign out of CC, uninstall all applications and CC itself before making your final  Time machine backup on the old machine.

  • After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans at full speed.

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen on 2nd? page of boot. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans run at full speed, machine boots then runs normal except the dvdrw will not . The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.
Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My macbook will not start. when powered up it goes to a blank white screen with a folder with a ? on it

When I start my computer instead of just going to the main screen it goes straight to a blank white page with a folder with a question mark on it that keeps flashing. What's wrong with it?

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
With 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6 put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
Or if you are running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion, boot from the recovery partition (Command +R on boot) and use Disk Utility to repair your OS 10.7 or 10.8 partition.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead.

    Hi,
If your OS is Linux you can update Firefox using the Package Manager / Software Center. After opening the Manager type '''firefox''' in the search area, tick '''firefox''' in the results and apply. You may also be asked to accept additional new dependencies.
    or
You can directly download the latest version for Linux here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
It is a zip package and you have to unzip it and run the script file named '''firefox''' inside the unzipped folder. You have to go inside this folder every time to run this file or you can create a link to the '''firefox''' file on the desktop. In this case please note that the old Firefox installation will still exist and the usual links will open that instead of the new one.

  • Can I use the blank white master more than once in a document-2

Marked it solved, because it was for a full day. But no. Original question:
I've been trying to create my own mini-theme with styled masters for the various pages I use again and again. I keep getting fouled up. Is it part of the program that this can't be done, or is it my mistake that I'm not catching?
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
    Gary Scotland solved my problem:
best to create a new slide master:
    view > slide masters
    select the slide master you want to base the new master on;
    edit > duplicate
rename the new master by double clicking the name box and type in
add objetcs and position them to the new master
    file > Save Theme
you can apply a slide master as many times in a presentation as you need
I created it, saved it as theme, and successfully used it to make a presentation. Marked it solved. Slept. Woke up, started working again--poof! The theme I had saved and used was a blank white slide again, all masters. What the heck?
My apologies to Gary. I think I marked a reply of my own as the solution. Stupid but unfixable.

You might want to try this routine which has sorted quite a few Keynote problems:
    1
    Close all iWork applications
    2
Uninstall all the iWork applications; this must be done with an application remover tool to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here: Appcleaner Download
    3
    empty the trash
    4
shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
    5
go to;   Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions
when this is completed restart the Mac normally
    6
Reinstall iWork or Keynote as appropriate using the original discs or logging into the Mac App Store and installing from there
Post back on how this worked

  • I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the bad template with a blank.

I no longer have access to system folders that allow me to remove old or incorrect PAGES templates. Need to find out how to do that. The only way I can do it now is to blank the template and replace the unwanted template with a blank. It was previously possible to go to MY TEMPLATES and remove the unwanted templates. I don't if this issue is before or since installation of 10.8 (a nightmare in my case, which led to significant failure issues).  And because I haven't tried to remove templates since finally managing to install 10.8 (now at 10.8.4), I don't know if this is typical of the newer OS or a problem. I've been a Mac user for more than 25 years, but I think I'm nearing the end of the road. By the way, I've never needed to do this before because the manuals always offered an answer... they don't seem to do that anymore. In any case, I don't know how this works... I'd prefer an email reply if that's possible. But that would probably be too easy, and I don't know how to get a reply.

Thanks, I appreciate the help.  I think this is one of the problems Apple is creating by changing the OS so often. I had fomer colleagues at [a major aerospace contractor] who told me that so many original files were ultimately lost because of the deadly change in the "Save As" operation that they are now afraid of every OS update. Apple has badly damaged their support base with that very prominent company (they won't update now until they've fully examined and understand changes in the pre-conditioned nature of OS computer functions), and they are a whole lot less enthaled with Mac-related equipment/software. Can't blame them, I too used orginal files that way (as easy-to-use templates), and lost some important files before I realized what was happening (to late to revert). Companies should not have to retrain employees each time an OS gets an update, it's can be very expensive several different ways. They learned a painful lesson with that one. And because I'm now retired and don't use multiple devices, I need iCloud like I need a hole in the head... but I'm told there's no way to keep Apple out of my computer. Fortunately, because of major problems when initially installing Mountain Lion, one hold-over of the hardware/software damage I experienced was that iCloud can no longer access my computer even though everything else is working fine again. That was the only "good luck" I had as a result of that expensive nightmare.

  • IMac goes to blank white screen while using have to unplug

For the second time now my iMac 2.8 ghz Core 2 Duo has gone to a blank white screen right in the middle of doing work. The machine sounds the same but the only way to get it back is to unplug it. I've searched around and found booting issues but that is not my problem. It just goes blank white right in the middle of using it.

    What "restore icon"?
If you have the Mac OS X install disc in the drive, switch on your Mac, and hold the Option (⌥) key.
You will see a grey screen, with Macintosh HD & after a few seconds, a CD with Mac OS X Install DVD.
Click on the DVD and then the arrow underneath it. This will start up the Mac OS X installer.
From here, you need to choose your language and then from the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility.
Then choose Macintosh HD from the left, and choose "Verify Disk" not permissions
Let us know how you go.

We have seen the note 1145663 and so did all group creation and assignment manually and skipped these steps.
However when we get to Upload Default ACLS this step fails with unauthorized and trying to manually assign the ACLs listed in on SAP Help is very unclear.  The document says there should be a View Permissions in the context menu however I don't see any of this.  I have checked in the DTR Perspective in Developer Studio and tried to look in the /dtr URL.
Has anybody has this problem and how have they resolved it.
    Thanks

    Hi
Thanks Pascal - activated the DTR Admin plugin and was able to update ACL permissions.
For information - reply from SAP is that Template Installer is buggy with a dual stack install.  We were on SPS15 which is the latest.  All configuation therefore has to be done manually.
SAP were working on a fix for this.
    thanks for the assistance

  • Facebook videos play, but foreground is blank white.

In internet explorer 11, running the latest version of flash, Facebook videos will load and play, but the video is replaced with a blank white box. I can hear sound, and when the bottom bar is visible the bottom portion of the video is visible in the background.
The flash player settings do come up on the object when right clicking and selecting 'Settings.' While the settings dialogue is up, the video is again visible in the background, faded.
I confirmed that videos play correctly in Google Chrome, but the computer's main user dislikes using other browsers. As far as I could conclude, videos on other sites play correctly.
I searched for solutions to this issue, but I have yet to find it described anywhere near the same, nor has any general solution or quick-fix worked yet.
    Things I have tried:
    Resetting IE settings
    Resetting IE advanced settings
Resetting IE advanced settings and personal data
    Disabling Hardware Acceleration
    Uninstalling & Reinstalling video drivers
    Uninstalling & Reinstalling IE11
    Uninstalling & Reinstalling Java
    Uninstalling & Reinstalling Flash
    Installing Shockwave player seperately
Uninstalling IE11, Java, and Flash, rebooting and cleaning up unused system files and registry errors, then reinstalling everything
None of these seem to have any effect.

    Start>Control Panel>Adobe Flash>check for updates from Adobe.
yes you will probably have to reboot.
    and/or
Start>Control Panel>Java JRT (Oracle Java RTE) check for updates from Oracle.

  • My Ipod has a  blank white screen and my home button doesn't work

My Ipods screen just went totally blank white and my home button doesn't work anymore any #Advise ??
i've seen the other videos i can do it but my home button doesn't work ??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
When it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
