**bleep**ed up Bios update, Toshiba Satellite C655

My brother updated his laptop BIOS, from 1.40 to 1.70.
I dont know why he did it..
Now we have some problems with drivers and stuff.
How can we try to solve this?
Go back to 1.40, or fix system issues?
Some advice, please?

  • Blue screen of death after ram upgrade on a Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop

I ordered an upgrade for a Toshiba Satellite C655(PSC08U-02D037) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I've trying for a month to get this to work consistently. When I first installed it, it worked fine for the first few days, but then after that I kept getting an error that would pop up "Display has Stopped Responding And Recovered" and the screen would flicker turn to black for a second. It didn't happen a lot at first, but then it got progressively worse to the point that it would crash my browsers, and sometimes when I tried to play certain videos, I would get the blue screen of death, and then the computer would have to restart.
I updated my bios, graphics drivers, I checked to see if maybe I failed to install it properly and reinstalled it, no avail. Finally I just took the ram out, and then I stopped having these issues. Which leads me to believe that it may have something to do with the memory upgrade. I ran the scanner as suggested when I was looking to upgrade, and what was recommended was a ( System 2gb DDR3-1600 Sodimm 1.35v CL11 ) ram stick part number CT6316802, which is the one I ended up ordering. I'm not sure what else to do but assume that what I ordered is either defective or just doesn't work with my laptop.

    Hi jinjoe,
I am sorry for the issues you are experiencing with your upgrade. How is this memory installed? Is it just one module or did you purchase two? Did you install it with any exisitng RAM? If you have two modules have you tried installing one module at a time? This would help us determine if the issue is with one defective memory module or both causing the issue.

Try this. Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections.
If it's still unresponsive, you may want to contact customer support at (800) 457-7777.
Gave it a try just now, not effective. I'll give customer support a try let you know if I get anything from it.

  • No Bios Update for Satellite: L755D-S5204 / Inability to change Memory Settings in Bios

Ok so I bought two new 8GB of BLUE Kingston Hyperx 1600 MHZ Memory Modules with heat spreaders recently from newegg.
I installed them, and my system recognizes the full 8 GB, but when running CPU-Z the memory MHZ is registering in at 665.5 MHZ.
I want to be able to run my Memory at least the STANDARD minimum 1333 MHZ if not be able to change the MHZ if possible to 1600 MHZ.  I CANNOT DO THIS WITH THE BIOS THAT CAME WITH MY SYSTEM, AND I CANNOT FIND A BIOS UPDATE ANYWHERE ON THE TOSHIBA SITE THAT WILL LET ME DO THIS.
My system Laptop Satellite L755D-S5204 has the basic Bios that came with the system.  However I do not know or CAN NOT FIND any flash updates to update the bios so I can change these setting.
My question to Toshiba Tech support is it possible to clock my system memory higher, and how do I do this with a BIOS that doesn't let me make any changes to my Voltage to my Memory, and doesn't let me make any changes to system memory or memory timing settings??
When you figure that out and if you could possibly help me resolve this problem, please email me because as a computer technician I am really intrigued as to the reason why Toshiba doesn't have a FLASH BIOS UPDATE that will let you change the Memory settings, and Memory Timings!!
    Thanks,

BIOS does not provide such option!
I have no idea what graphic card you have but for example the Sat P850-138 was equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphic card.
This GPU supports dedicated VRAM (default 2048MB)
The available graphics memory can be expanded using system memory, through TurboCache
In case the system memory would be expanded to 6GB RAM, the TurboCache technology could use up to 4,095 MB VRAM

  • Where can I find a BIOS update for Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)

    Hello,
Where can I find a BIOS update for this model?
My bios is 23/10/07 Windows Vista 32 Bit 1.80-WIN

    Hi
Did you check the Toshiba European driver page?
There you could find all drivers and BIOS for the Satellite A200-14D (PSAEC)
But I checked the page and the BIOS 1.8 for Win Vista 32bit is still the newest one.
Seems you are already up to date buddy ;)

  • Can not find BIOS update for Satellite A30

    Hi friends.
I'am not found Toshiba A30-203 a new BIOS update.
I want install the windows vista but this error sccren.
    Error message:
"A computer has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is first time you2ve seen this Stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updates BIOS."
to apologize for my bad English.

    Hi
It seems the Satellite A30 series is a one of series which was delivered with the no Vista support BIOS.
I think it should be possible to install Vista after a the BIOS update.
But know you will ask for the new BIOS version. Am I right? ;)
Well, on the Toshiba BIOS page you should find different BIOS versions.
Its very important that you will check the more info option before you will start the BIOS update. There you should find information about the BIOS compatibility (not every version is compatible with every unit).
But as you know the Vista is not official on the market. As far as I can remember it should be possible to buy the OS in January 2007.
I think Toshiba will offer a new version of Vista BIOS in the next time. I hope so ;)

  • Re: Chinese words after Bios update on Satellite L100-119

I updated my Bios in notebook Satellite L100-119 PSLA3E with version 3.20 wordwide and after that my Bios words become chineese.
    Has anyone the first bios?
    Plese help me.

    That's strange
Did you use the BIOS from the Toshiba European driver page?
This notebook belongs to the Toshiba European series and if you want to update the BIOS then you have to use the BIOS from Europe!
Anyway, the latest BISO on the page is 3.20-win and this is only BIOS which is available
If you need an older version then you will need to contact the Toshiba ASP in your country for an older version maybe they could help
But check the BIOS again access the settings and set it to default
Then save the changes and boot up again
    Maybe this helps

  • BIOS update for Satellite Pro 4600

    Hello everybody,
I am trying update the bios and i have followed the instructions, but I don't know what is wrong.
    1.- download the files
2.-unzip the filed in a floppy nonbootable.
3.- reboot the computer with the floppy in.
    4.- press f12 while boot.
5.- nothing happend, the system ask me remove the floppy but nothing is updated.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi
I found this Toshiba BIOS update instruction for this notebook series:
    1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a formatted floppy disk (please see note below regarding which type of disk to use).
    2. Ensure the Notebook is connected to the mains.
    3. Turn the Notebook off.
    4. Turn the Notebook on with the F12 key. Keep the key pressed until a short beep can be heard.
    5. The message "Ready for BIOS update. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive and press any key when ready to proceed" will appear.
    6. Place the diskette containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy disk drive and press any key. FDD access will begin.
    7. When prompted by the message: "Please push the RESET switch (or turn AC power OFF/ON) to restart" remove the floppy disk and either press the RESET switch (if available) or turn the system off and back on to restart the Notebook.
But note; BIOS update is always risky! If your notebook runs ok, then the BIOS update is not really necessary!
    greetings

  • Where can I find a BIOS update for Satellite A100-200 (PSAA8E)

    Hello,
Where can I find a BIOS update for this model?
The BIOS on the download page is November last year, is there anything newer or does anyone know of an update that is compatible?
    Thanks,
    Ian

Yep, newest updates and drivers for your notebook you will find on the Toshiba download pages, as Jimi already mentioned.
Just as a little hint from my side is, that if there is nothing wrong with your notebook, just leave it as it is.
As there is the saying, never touch a running system.
So keep that in mind. ;)

  • Blank screen & no booting after running BIOS update on Satellite A200-1AE

Here is my problem with my A200-1AE (PSAECE) Notebook:
I downloaded the latest BIOS update from the Toshiba download drivers library to install Win XP since finally the drivers are realized. (Note the update clearly stated to run ONLY if you want to install XP on you NB).
So I unzipped the file and after hitting the .exe file it started updating the BIOS on its own without me giving the liberty to do so. Half way the N/B froze for about 20 minutes and as I didnt know what else to do so I reset it.
Result? The NB does NOT boot. I press the power button, the Hard Drive icon flashes 2-3 times as well as the DVD drive, I get a blank screen and the power cord & power button icons constantly on. I removed the battery and the power cord for 48 hours hoping it will reset the BIOS on its own to no avail.
The BIOS battery is under the touchpad which means I have to disassemble the whole laptop and I am not ready to do so. I dont know if on the motherboard there are BIOS reset jumpers and I need someones help as to what I should do. I am starting to think that things where MUCH easier back to when I just had a desktop PC.
THERE must be something I can do other that taking it to the service center and pay half the value of the laptop in repairs.... PLS HELP Im desperate....

    Hi there,
first of all: a notebook is not a desktop and such mobile computer does not have jumpers like a deskop computer. They surely have something to delete the BIOS but I am not so sure IF resetting the BIOS could help you.
I guess you will have to send your machine to a service center for repair because in such cases you will have no other option. Do you have still warranty on this machine?

  • Windows 7 - BIOS update question - Satellite A350-13A

    Hi,
I have the Toshiba A350-13A for Poland.
It came with Vista 32 bit system. I would like to install there Windows 7 64 bit.
So I have a question for BIOS update.
In my toshiba model driver section for WIN7 there is only a 32 bit BIOS for OS independent, but in the Vista section there is a 64 bit BIOS.
So shall I stay with the 32 bit BIOS or update to Vista 64 bit BIOS?
    best regards.

    Hi
Do you have any performance or notebook issues using the 32bit BIOS?
If everything is working properly then leave the 32bit BIOS on your notebook.
I would recommend updating the BIOS only if some serious problems would appear
    Cheers

  • How do I roll back the BIOS update on Satellite U400-157?

I recently updated a Tempro alert for BIOS update for the note book. I now notice that the screen blanks out a few times at PC start up. It was't there before. How do I roll back the BIOS update to an earlier one.
I don't get to see the BIOS update screen else where other that the time that I did the BIOS update.

    Hi
To be honest I dont understand exactly what is your problem.
You said: . I now notice that the screen blanks out a few times at PC start up.
What does this mean exactly? Is your display black until Windows has booted up?
To be honest, I dont think that BIOS update would be the reason for that go to BIOS (press F2) and set the BIOS to default settings (F9) and save the changes (F10).
If you want to get back the earlier BIOS version, then you will need to flash the BIOS ROM module using an DOS based BIOS version. On the Toshiba European driver page you can find only the win-based versions
