Bleeping/Glitches when playing music in iTunes

Hi,
Just the last couple of days i have noticed when i am playing music from iTunes on my 15" Mid 2010 Macbook Pro, I am getting intermittent digital noises like bleeping and weird audio glitches.
It is almost like an 8 bit type song which are so popular these days!
Now i know its not the encoding of the music as its happening on all different tracks when listening on random. It is also happening when i listen on headphones, through speakers connected through jack or through the built in speakers.
At present it is intermittent and will get progresively worse during a song and then I could skip and it will stop again.
I have never ex[erience anything like this before with an apple product. At present i am not seeing any visual glicthes when watching video and the laptop does not appear to be acting up in any other way, which hopefully means its not a logic board issue.
Anybody ever heard of or experienced this before? Can anybody help out?
The laptop is obviously not under warranty anymore otherwise i would just take it in, but at present i'm hoping i can diagnose and sort the problem with the aid of the the internet!
Any help/suggestions much appreciated!
Thanks

Hello TheDonsCheek,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the audio when nothing is playing in iTunes on your MacBook Pro. I recommend reviewing the following article to see if any third-party plug-ins could be causing the problem:

When using the generic music player on my ipad it often freezes for upto 20seconds when i wish to play another song.  this usually happens when i try to change track while the previous song is still playing.
Will there be a fix for this?

  • HT1414 touch screen does not work on my ipod when playing music on itunes, but works fine on every other thing on ipod

touch screen does not work on my ipod when playing music on itunes, but works fine on every other thing on ipod, can anyone help or what is the cause

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Music speeds up when playing music in itunes!

    hi everyone,
i recently bought a creative xmod and when i play music through itunes now the music speeds up to an insane speed, does anyone know how to fix this? i couldn't find any help on the creative tech support but i sae that others had this problem.thanks.

First thing is try playing back one of your music files with, say, Quicktime (just browse to the file in Finder, right-click or ctrl-click and choose "open with Quicktime").
If the music plays back normally then your issue is with iTunes and is not hardware related.
See if [this link|http://lfnet.net/blog/?page_id=21] helps you out.

  • Music Stutter when playing music in itunes

My music stutters when I scroll or do something in another application when I am playing music in itunes at the same time. They have updated itunes since it started but it didn't fix the problem, in fact I think they made it worse.

    Sandy,
Go to this post and 'View All':
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68ba4951
Read through the process I went through to find and correct my playback hang (actually it was a system-wide periodic freeze). Don't bother with the related links yet (or b's threadjacks for my attention). Just use it to spark some thoughts and to develop a mind-set that may lead you to your issue.
In the end, I feel I got lucky, rather than good, in finding my problem. Even though I made some quick assumptions, I was always ready to test and discard them just as quickly.
If you have really gone through everything on these Discussions, you are left with self-diagnosis of your system, or a step-wise reinstall, testing iTunes out along every step of the way (ouch).

  • ITunes 8 & 9 - Half-second glitch when playing music

Recently, I have noticed a half-second glitch when I have iTunes on shuffle. The first song I play plays perfectly fine, but every song after the first has a half-second glitch about 1 second into playing the song. I don't remember exactly when I started because I often just play music as background noise at home. I did upgrade to 10.6 on my MacBook Pro last month when it came out. I have NEVER had any problems like this before on my Mac. I thought upgrading to iTunes 9 would help with the issue, but it hasn't. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do to resolve this issue? I'm somewhat new to a Mac and haven't learned the in's and out's yet. Thanks!

I have a similar issue. Everything was fine with iTunes 8 but when I got 9 my songs just wont play. They play like one note then just stop for 5 minutes. Then they might play for a few more seconds then they just stop.
I don't think its a problem with my internet because all my music is like this, not just the internet stream music.
    Any help would be great.

  • Front Row glitching when playing music

I don't know which version of Leopard it was when this started, but I really noticed it after the 10.5.2 update. Basically, as the title indicates, Front Row is glitching, and locking my computer up while playing music. I often hook my laptop up to my TV and surround system (sometimes just the surround system) as a way to listen to music, as the laptops speakers just don't cut it when trying to enjoy music. After hooking it up to the sound system via the headphone out jack, I start Front Row with the remote, and click on music -> shuffle songs and let it do its thing. For a while -- maybe 30 minutes -- it works fine, album artwork showing up and doing its thing, but after a short time, all I see is the song's progress bar, frozen and the album artwork missing; however, the music can still be heard. Once this happens, I can't do anything at all. Trying to quit FR doesn't work, any key-presses go un-recognized and the only way to get out is to hold the power button until the computer shuts off.
This is really annoying because I use FR instead of iTunes when hooked up this way, simply because I need a nice big interface for when I'm at the other end of the room. To have the application freeze like this is just a pain in the butt.
My question is this, is it a known or common issue to have? If so, I guess I'll just have to wait till a fix comes out, but if not, does anybody know what the problem is, and how I can stop this from happening?

Ok, now I am on FR 1.3.1 and all crashes are gone! If you do this (see thread in this forum) be careful with the Software Update feature, it detects the old version and offers FR 2.x every time ...

  • Windows crashs when playing music with iTunes

    Hi,
I have a problem with my iTunes. Since last week my Windows crashes when I start to listen to music over iTunes. I have already tried to re install Windows and have updated all the drivers for my hardware but there has still nothing changed.
When I'm updating my iPod with iTunes there is no problem. It only crashes when I started to listen to music with iTunes. I can still listen to music over other music programs like Winamp.
Can anybody help me?... or does anybody know what the reason could be for that?

    hi Simon!
I have a problem with my iTunes. Since last week my Windows crashes when I start to listen to music over iTunes.
are you getting a blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it?
if you don't see a blue screen (or just get a flash of a blue screen), use Jonathan's technique to display any hidden ones:

  • Only one channel working when playing music via iTunes

My Apple Tv has suddenly started only playing one music channel - ie depending on the song, you sometimes don't hear the lead vocal track, or perhaps drums.
It is linked to my computer over wireless, using plug-in wifi transmitters.  When I play the song on the computer using iTunes it is fine.  It is not a speaker cable problem as it happens when I play it just through my TV speaker.  If I then turn on my home cinema speaker system, all speakers work but only play the one channel.  I have looked at settings and can't find anything that would seem to cause this.
Both Apple Tv and iTunes on the computer are up to date with the latest software.
Anyone else experienced this problem, or any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Nocturno,
What sound card do you have now? If your using a Creative sound card, you can turn on the CMSS feature to upmix Stereo to a 5.1/7.1 soundfield depending on the capability of the sound card. If your using another sound card, you will need to check with the manufacturer if it had such upmix features.

  • When playing music through iTunes, it no longer starts at a random song.

I have it set to shuffle and it used to start with a random song.  Now, it always starts with the first song in my library. I prefer the random start, but after the last update, it no longer does it.  Can I change this in a setting or something??

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • Trying to have a break between each song while playing music in iTunes

    Hi there
When Playing music in iTunes the songs run without any break - that is something like 5 seconds before the current song playing is supposed to finish, the next one already starts to play. I hope to have a break between the songs - only when the current song reaches an end, the next one begins. Is there a way to do that? I would appreciate your help.
    Thank you
    Zak

I have the same problem. I have the crossfade set to four seconds and have made sure that the "part of a gapless album" is not checked. Any ideas on how to fix this? thanks.

  • When playing songs in itunes, songs will freeze or delay. How do I stop this?

My itunes has been doing this for months. I must admit that I do not believe my computer is that great(old), but, still, when playing music in iTunes, the timer or play clock will stop. The song will keep playing but the clock will stop moving for either 4 or 7 seconds. When this happens, everything freezes. Thus, you can't adjust volume, select another song, make a playlist, etc.  Recently, I created a new user on my computer and installed iTunes under that name.  The problem there is that there is no visible music library.  My library only appears in "recently added."  So, that is very concerning as well.  I believe the music is delaying there, also.  But it causes alarm if I were to reinstall on my main user and I couldn't see my library.  I have a lot of music.
Please advise if anyone has a good solution.
    Thanks,
    Annette

This is the control DaVBMan is talking about.  Tap the shuffle control until it shows white for shuffle off.

  • ITunes 10.5 randomly stutters when playing music

Installed iTunes 10.5 last week to get new iOS for iPhone. I have a HP Pavillion notebook running WIndows 7 and have had no problem with iTunes before at all. Now, however, when I am playing music on iTunes little electronic glitches and stutters are audible. They are random and seem to affect both mp3 and aac. Nothing else on my computer has changed aside from the itunes update. VLC media player still seems to be fine.
I see some people are having distortion issues with the new iTunes, but this is more just a little distorted stutter for half a second or so every once or twice a minute.
Can I fix this, or will I have to wait for the next update of iTunes? Any help with this would be gratefully appreciated.

    Hi Denis,
I managed to fix a similar issue on Mac OS X:
"I am running 10.5.8 on an iMac 27 with a 2.66GHz i5 processor and got the same side-effects after I moved up to iTunes 10.5. Th e problem also continued when I downgraded to 10.4.1 as well, straight afterwards. However, I managed to resolve it fairly quickly in this way:
Opened the  Activity Monitor, and looked at the processes taking most resources.
The one that leapt out at the top, if ordered by % CPU, was "ShockWave Flash (Chrome Plug-in Host)".
So, I closed down Chrome and noted that it was still there. Thus, I sent a force quit to it and waited for it to die. I then re-opened iTunes and the annoying stuttering had gone. I've now got Chrome and this plug-in open and it has not returned. I suspect the issue may frequently be caused by a plug-in like this causing resource contention, but I can't say for sure as I've only seen this once.
My advice would be to close down, one by one,  as many apps as you can and constantly review activity ordered by CPU in Activity Monitor. If you think you can safely quit the process then do so and retry iTunes. If you're not sure, then gracefully shutdown and look again. Bear in mind, the problem may be launching at startup. Before shutting down, review your Login Items in System Prefs->Accounts->"My Account"->Login Items. Remove anything you can live without. You can always add them back in. If you manage to spot conflicting software then you can look for a patch or upgrade, but at least be aware that it does not play well with iTunes and thus quickly fix your issue."
May be you can follow a similar process on Windows? I would target your suspicions towards Adobe and Google components :-) !!!
    Hope this helps.
