Blender 10 bit DPX Files not importing into AE CC

Hi all! Back in After Effects CS6 I was able to import DPX files generated from Blender. They were 10bit RGB files like this one:
Dropbox - 0001.dpx
I recently upgraded to AE CC (no plugins installed) and I am getting After Effects error: The file header version is invalid. ( 0 :: 8 )
Please note the only change has been upgrading to CC. These files were generated in Blender 2.68 and worked fine in CS6, but not in CC.
On Mac OSX 10.9.5 with a GTX 680 and 20 GB of RAM. Any help would be appreciated

I looked at this file with DPX Plus in Photoshop and found that the header version is listed as "v2.0" instead of the standard "V2.0", note the uppercase. It's true, earlier versions of AE weren't bothered by this. I'll file a bug.
In the meantime, you could use DPX Plus for AE to read it, because it'll ignore the version in the header.

  • Why do some AVI files not import into iMovie?

Some of my AVI video does not import into iMovie. When I try, it gives me a non-specific error message. Is there a way I can import it? Other AVI files import with no problem.

AVI is a container, not a format; the audio and video in an AVI may use any codec, and some codecs can't be used in Mac OS X. Installing Perian may help.

  • AVI Files not importing into CS4 from DVD

I have the DVD disk for Premiere Pro CS4 Classroom In A Book and all the avi files have only sound and when imported into Premiere Pro CS4 a missing codec error warning appears and the file will not import.
I have to say this problem only occurs with my 27" iMac and not at all with a MacBook Pro or a 20" iMac. I have tried repeatedly to copy the DVD to the 27" iMac but the problem still persists.
*+Now this is the really weird bit+:*
Using Screen Sharing from another mac, the files are normal. All other avi files are also normal on the 27" iMac.
I wondered if anyone can throw any light on this problem?

  • OMF Files not Importing into Logic 7.2.3

Can anyone help me with this ongoing problem ? I'm writing music for a film where my editor is using the latest version of Final Cut Pro 5.1.2, I'm running Logic 7.2.3 on OSX 10.4.8 she exports the OMF Files....but I can't import them on my system. The files are imported without any problems at the mixers studio, but he uses Pro Tools.
    Any Ideas ???

logic's import and export is very unreliable. actually it is something that i think is quite disgraceful. that said:
    - are you sure that you have a self-contained OMF file in version 2 format? not a referenced OMF? you can tell because the OMF file will be large if it has the audio content embedded or small if it does not.
    - most OMF problems are problems that come from the originator. for example, you can get problems if the audio is at different sample rates.
    - try to get everyone to work with AAF files which are more reliable and do the same job.
    - logic doesn't support different sample rates at the same time, unlike many video editing programmes. the audio should be consolidated before exporting and video references removed.
i hope this helps. this really is an area of weakness within logic. please post back with how you get on.

  • Files not importing into Shake

We switched over to Open Directory and I've been having issues bringing shots into Shake. When some users make files I can't import them at all into Shake. I try changing the permissions but it still doesn't work. Files appear as green nodes then turn yellow or red.
    Anybody experiencing this?

Unfortunately that did not work. Some of the video files did not have the ".mov" extension so I added them, yet that did not improve my situation.
I can't figure it out. I can open the files everywhere else. I can open the video files in Final Cut Pro, the stills in Photoshop. I tried re-exporting the files as new files with different names but nothing is working.
These files are cursed somehow. So strange.

  • AI files not importing into Premiere in appropriate aspect ratio

I'm having trouble importing Illustrator CS5 files that are "made" with a video preset into Premiere.  I'm building "lower thirds" out of a client graphic.  I then save them as AI CS5 files.  When I import them into Premiere, they aren't imported as an entire frame of material, but rather just the text itself.  I then have to resize the material and change the X and Y locations, respectively.
Is there a way to create, save, and import Illustrator files properly so all I have to do is drop them into the timeline?

If you're making a lower third and you've set your artboard width in Illustrator, you'd think that it should import at that dimension, but it doesn't always work that way. the bounding box of an imported AI file, because the background is null, will fit the actual graphic instead of the artboard size. So if you set the width of the artboard to 1280 pixels and the graphic is only 1200 pixles wide, then it will import at 1200 pixels wide and it won't fill the full width of the video screen. It's not a big deal to adjust the width in Premiere, but if you want it to fit just right, or a tick over, be sure your graphic is at least as wide as the formatted screen, it not a few pixels over so it bleeds off the screen.

  • Sony WX7 .mts video files not imported into iPhoto 11

Apple indicates iLife ’11 supports AVCHD (.mts) files, however, I've been unable to get iPhoto 11 to import video files from the Sony WX7 camera. Photo's are imported properly via both usb and directly from the SD card reader in my Macbook Pro (i7) 2011, however, video files are not.  I've read that iMovie '08 supports Sony AVCHD 2011-model video cameras, but iPhoto 11 appears not to.
Mac OS X v10.6.7, is fully up to date. Has anybody found a solution?

Not sure where you are seeing that AVCHD is supported in iPhoto '11 but it is not - use iMovie to import your AVCHD movies - that works for my my Sony DSC-HX5

  • Nikon D3300 NEF files not importing into iPhoto with Yosemite. Videos import, photos come in black

I'm having issues importing NEF (Raw) photos since I upgraded to Yosemite. I also updated iPhoto to the most current version. The videos will import, but the photos are coming in black. I can see them in the Nikon photo viewer on the Mac with no issues.

There are a series of posts on the forum right now detailing issues with Raw support. By no means all folks have them - I don't for instance - but many seem to.
Try the fix in this thread
RAW files suddenly show up as "not supported" (Aperture 3.5.1, OS X 10.10)
which basically trashes the Raw support and reinstalls it on your Mac.

  • ALAC files not importing into iTunes

I'm using the latest 12.0.1.26 iTunes on a Dell Studio XPS (with an intel i7 processor and 2 TB SSD drive), which I use to run three Apple Airports dotted around the house and am having a problem playing ALAC files which I've converted from FLAC files bought from HighResAudio.com.
They play ok with VLC but when I try to add the folder or file into iTunes nothing seems to happen, or if I select 'play with' and pick iTunes, then iTunes starts up ok but the file doesn't appear or play at all.
I've just started re-recording my cd collection in ALAC format which all play fine when recorded directly into iTunes.
The problem is with these high resolution files (Mike Oldfield's new Man On The Rocks album) which I bought to try the supposedly 'better than cd/studio' quality sound which were only available as FLAC files. I then converted these with 'free studio audio converter' and as I said, the converted files play fine on VLC.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

  • Video Files not importing into iTunes Library.

I have been converting my movie file into mp4 format so i can use them on my iPod video. I converted all of the files and then added their folder to the iTunes Library, but only some fo the videos show up. I have tried to add these files individually, changing their names, even moving them to antoher folder and adding them. What can I do to get these files into the library and on to my iPod?

I wish i knew. It seems to be very random in which videos it doesn't add. Is it too much to ask to watch SNL clips on my iPod?

  • Legitimate newly purchased Premiere Elements-10 32-bit install files not available

    Friends:
I purchased an $1100 Nikon camera and the deal included OEM PS Premiere Elements 10.
Legit purchase with a CD and legit Serial #.
Can't install because what is Adobe's fault, not the camera vendor's and certainly not mine.
    Adobe's own published notice:
"The 64-bit version of Adobe Premiere Elements 10 only installs on Windows 7 64 bit. If you have Windows XP 64 bit or Vista 64 bit, it's necessary to install the 32-bit version. Because the Adobe Download Assistant automatically downloads the 64-bit version in error, it's necessary to download the 32-bit version manually through alternate means."
The problem is that the same holds true for installing on XP Pro SP3 and Adobe makes no mention of it in the above admission.
Then, Adobe's own Solutions 1, 2 & 3 for manual download all fail, even after fussing for days over it.
Even Solution 3, the last ditch option, fails perhaps because Elements 11 is out and Adobe has killed the 10 download Ftp sites.
Files I am unable to download from Adobe (without entrapment by so called Free Dowload sites) are:
    http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/PRE/10/win32/PremiereElements_10_LS15_win32.exe
    http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/PRE/10/win32/PremiereElements_10_LS15_win32.7z
How can I solve my dilemma, being denied my right to learn Elements from a legally purchased 10 and being
forced to purchase 11 instead on top it. Fair?
I am requesting Adobe politely to make it possible to download the Adobe recommended two files withou hassles.
I must mention in this context my own  (and thousands of others') sad experience with Flash updates. Just follow
my own (and others') posts in Adobe forums. Plus, just read the Internet posts along these lines:
"It's impossible to download anything from Adobe. I have given up and I have given up on Adobe products."
Not that I want to, but I am forced into echoing the same sentiment.
    Can anyone help, please ?
    Thanks,
    Pradip A.

    Hello Mr. Wright:
The download now works. Appreciate your help.
The ...7z file is 1.37 Gb long. I have super high speed Fibre Optic Internet connection with Bell. I rarely have the ocassion to download files of this size. After downloading more than 1 Gb, the transfer hung - either at the Client end, or at the Server end. Bell is sending tech Thursday to mitigate some line noise they detected. Hopefully, the stars will fall into the right place before long.

  • Reading 12-bit DPX files?

I received an image sequence from a client. I go to import these DPX files into AE CS6/Mac and I get an error that AE can't read 12-bit DPX files. (I thought DPX only came in 8 and 10 bit flavors)
Is there a 3rd party plug-in that can read 12-bit DPX?

  • .CR2 will not import into  iphoto 08 7.1.5

I have a few hundred photos taken by a friend that i am trying to import into my iphoto library.
    Getting an unrecognizable file message.
I shoot on a Canon XSi in RAW and have no issues importing to iphoto, Apature or photoshop....
her images were shot on a Canon TSi in RAW and will not import into any of my programs.

The fact that you can use the Raws from your XSi is of no relevance.
The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Changing the Raw specification is one of the ways of upgrading the cameras.
IPhoto and Aperture support -  or don't -  the same cameras.

  • Getting protected wma files to import into itunes

i have a couple of wma files that are protected and will not import into itunes because of the protected content. is there any way around this?

If you are able to burn those protected files to an audio CD, then that audio CD will act like any CD that you would purchase in your local store.

  • H.264 will not import into DVDSP?

So I have been searching several discussion forums and the question I have seems to pop up in each of them, but is never answered???
Simply put, I have a FCP 6 project sequence that is 720p24frame which is an editing timebase of 59.94 with an aspect ratio of 960by720.
This is an 8.5 minute piece so I know that it will fit onto a regular DVD-R.
So I go through compressor and compress it into both an MPEG2 and H.264 - each at an HD bit rate.
Then I set up an HD project in DVDSP and try to import the two. The MPEG goes in fine and burns with no problems. My BlueRay/HDDVD combo player is on its way in the mail so I can't test it, but it will not play in my SD DVD player. Then I try to import the H.264 - It states something to the effect of not a compatible format....
That is my question - Why will the H.264 not import into an HDDVD project in DVDSP - all of the settings are correct from the initial edit - through compressor - through DVDSP.
Thank you for anyone who can help - we have a large festival coming up that has the option of 35mm or HDDVDs (we cannot afford a print).

    So...this issue is somewhat solved.
I have done several exports using the provided H.264 presets then tweaking them each to my own set specifics. There are four places in the formats sections of compressor that have H.264 as a codec - one of these is for iPod and web so I disregarded that one completely.
I always applied the same settings as to have a control base when doing this experiement - I haven't done a science project in probably 15 years. I also pushed the bit-rates to the highest level.
After many hours in and out of compressor and DVDSP, I found only one of of the presets loaded properly into DVDSP - the 60min under HDDVD H.264 preset (altered to my higher bit-rate)
I am still waiting on my player to try it out, but it did burn fine. This is all so strange since all of my own settings (bit-rate) and other data was constant.
Oh well...at least I've got one test completely burnt.
